Motoki shoved a cage into Makoto's hands.

"This is for you," he said, bowing his head as his hands lingered on the cage before letting go.

She was startled for a moment, but thanked him graciously and lifted the cage up to peer inside.

"Oh, it's a turtle!" Makoto cooed, watching as the creature moved around the cage. "Thank you, Motoki."

Reaching inside, she gently picked up her turtle, opened Kamekichi's cage, and placed her turtle inside his cafe. Motoki's face fell.

"You don't like her?" He asked, his face crestfallen and his shoulders slumped. "I thought… You come in so often to see Kamekichi, so I thought you would like a turtle of your own."

He turned his back to her to hide his disappointment.

"No, that's not it!" She protested. The tall, brunette waved to get his attention, but that failed. "Hey, hey, Motoki." That didn't work either.

"I thought that Kamekichi could use a friend." She explained, but Motoki still looked despondent.

A pink hue spread across her cheeks and she brought one finger up to twist the loose ends of her ponytail. "Besides, I haven't been coming in to see Kamekichi. I came to see you."
