Chapter 5.

Restorations, Exorcisms, and Portals

Raven located the last two pages in the basement and looked after the unconscious Cyborg while Starfire looked outside for Robin and Beast Boy.

She translated the remaining pages and started thinking about how to use them. From what she translated, the recitation of the first two pages would summon all of the demons toward that one place, recitation of the third page would make the demonic evil manifest itself in the flesh, and recitation of the last two pages would open a rift in time and space which would pull the flesh manifested evil into the dark realm from whence it came. Raven knew that she couldn't recite the incantations in the exact order as she read them, but then she had an idea: she could recite a few incantations from her memory to collect all of the spirits at once and contain them in something before manifesting them in the flesh and then once manifested in the flesh, she would immediately read the portal passage in the last two pages and get rid of it once and for all. It was a simple plan, or it sounded simple being that Raven hadn't used those spells in a long time and the only one she used recently out of those old spells was Necronom Hezberek Mortix.

Just then there was a bang at the door, and Starfire burst in carrying a wildly thrashing Robin and a mesh of multiple animal flesh which was Beast Boy. "I found them!" said Starfire as she struggled to hold them still.

Raven picked up the Naturom Demonto and held it up to face the possessed boys. "Alright, Starfire, hold on!" said Raven as she focused, "Aldruon Enlenthrenel Vosolen Lirus-Nor!" There was a flash of light, Robin and Beast Boy stopped thrashing, Beast Boy returned to normal, and two dark objects flew out of them and were sucked into the book.

The boys woke up after a few seconds. "What happened?" asked Beast Boy, then he screamed as soon as he noticed Starfire.

"Friends, I'm alright now!" said Starfire as she lowered them gently, "Raven killed the thing inside me. I'm fine now."

Robin sighed in relief and hugged her tight. Starfire laughed and expressed her relief as well.

Then Cyborg woke up. "Oh, man!" he exclaimed as soon as he picked himself up, "What happened? WHOA! GET DOWN!" Cyborg aimed his laser to point at Starfire.

"Cyborg, stop!" exclaimed Raven as she pushed his arm up and Cyborg fired a hole in the roof, "I killed the demon inside of her. She's fine now."

"Prove it!" said Cyborg. Starfire activated her Starbolts in her hands. "Alright, good," said Cyborg as he lowered his arm and turned to Robin and Beast Boy, "And what of them?"

"I exorcised them," said Raven.

"The demons inside them got sucked into the book when she did," said Starfire.

Just then, Cyborg's possessed hand skittered across the floor toward the fireplace to wreak more havoc. "Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" said Raven, and a telekinetic field surrounded the hand and she moved it toward Starfire to hold. "Hold this for a moment," said Raven as Starfire took hold of the thrashing hand and Raven said the curse incantation once again, "Aldruon Enlenthrenel Vosolen Lirus-Nor!" Immediately, the hand turned blue, stopped thrashing, and something black flew out of it and straight into the book. Starfire dropped the hand and Cyborg reattached it.

"Alright, we're all together again," said Cyborg, "Now let's get this over with."

"Okay," said Raven, "But it is extremely dangerous. I will need to summon all of the demons at once and use the same curse to lock them within the book, then I will need to release them all in order to manifest them in the flesh, and lastly I will recite the incantation which will open a portal in time and space to force them back into that dark realm from whence they came."

"We'll be ready, Raven," said Beast Boy, "Do it."

"Okay," said Raven as she read the incantation from the first two pages, "Kunda Astratta Amantos Eargrets Gutt Nosferatus Canda Amantos Canda." There was a sudden roaring coming from around the cabin. Raven immediately picked up the book and screamed out the curse, so as to collect every last one of the demons, "ALDRUON ENLENTHRENEL VOSOLEN LIRUS-NOR!" The book produced a light as powerful as the intensity of the sun and there was a great whooshing sound. None of them could see what was happening, but Raven felt the book fall down on her with a huge weight as though it had become a large boulder that she was trying to hold up. Then the light faded and the book slammed shut. Everything was completely silent. Raven collapsed due to the exhaustion of holding up the book while it was sucking in the demons.

"Raven, are you okay?" asked Robin.

"I'm fine," said Raven as she picked herself up, "I didn't think there would be so many."

"Now finish the last two incantations to end this," said Beast Boy.

"Okay, but first I need to set them free," said Raven as she placed the book on the floor and focused, "Hezberek Et Morine Gost Wenthen Verbis Nex, Ind Obrium Bis Pendrule Paran Sic Cortis Rex!" The book seemed to explode with the force of the demons, but before they could take control of anything, Raven shouted the incantation from the page, "Nosferatus Amemnon Canda!"

The scene seemed momentarily frozen as all of the demons swarmed into one place. The look of it was terrifying and horribly disgusting. It looked like Beast Boy possessed times ten. "Raven!" shouted Robin in terror, "Hurry, send it back!"

Then as it took the other Titans, Raven read the last incantations in a panic, almost mispronouncing the words, but getting them all right, "CANDA AMANTOS CANDA! CANDA SEMANTO REFARIA DAI SEDARIA OCTEVIV! NOSFERATUS AMEMNON OCTEVIV! EARGRETS CANDA!"

Outside, behind the abomination of fleshy demons, a large portal opened and acted as a black hole, dragging the car, a couple trees, and the abomination into it before slamming the door. The other Titans picked themselves up and walked over to Raven. "Thanks Raven," said Robin.

"Yeah, thanks!" said Beast Boy as he hugged Raven.

"No problem guys," said Raven, "I'm glad it's all over now." But it wasn't. The door broke open and was sucked into a vortex. The portal was still open and it wasn't done yet. The Titans suddenly felt the gravity of the portal and they started sliding towards it. None of them could escape the pull and tried to hold back by grabbing onto the door frame.

"Is this supposed to happen?!" asked Cyborg over the roaring winds.

"I never expected it to happen!" shouted Raven, "There was nothing in the book about this!"

Then the door frame broke and they all screamed as they were pulled into the portal. They fell through a whirlwind of light and sound for a minute or so, then came a sound like an explosion and all of a sudden, they found themselves, their car, and a couple trees falling toward a desert floor about 50 feet below them. Before any of them could catch themselves falling, all landed hard on a stone slab, Cyborg cracking it as he landed. After they picked themselves up, they heard the sound of approaching hooves and people yelling.

"Where in the hell are we?" asked Cyborg.

"I don't think where is the only question," said Raven, "I think the main question to ask is 'When are we?'"

Alright, things were looking good and all of a sudden took a dive. The group is now in the year 1300 A.D. and they can't get back! What next?
