A/N: I'm so, so sorry it's taken me 2 years, again, to update, I've had many things happening within that time and I've not felt very inspired to write anything at all. However, it's not an excuse and I'm sorry to all of you who have followed this story for many years and it's never gone anywhere. I love all my reviewers, and followers, and I hate to be such a disappointment. Today I'm updating, and, as infrequent as it will be, I will try my very best to update more often, maybe every couple of months or so. Again, thank you to everyone for sticking by me and this story, I promise I will do my best to make it worth the wait. Enjoy!

My Tutor Friend
Behind Closed Doors
"Ouch! Hey, will you watch what you're doing please? My face feels like I've stuffed ten million golf balls in my mouth."
Tsunade, the college nurse who is extremely talented, but also quick to anger, pokes Naruto in his bruised cheek. "Well Naruto, maybe if you didn't get yourself in bother all the time, I wouldn't have to deal with your childish attitude." She pushes herself away on her chair, and spins round to the cooler in the corner of the room, opens it, and pulls out an ice pack before sliding back to Naruto. "Here." She wraps the pack in some paper towels and places it in Naruto's hand. "Keep that on your face for the rest of the day as much as you can, it won't make the bruising go any quicker, but it shouldn't feel as swollen."
Oh man, what a first impression I'm giving Hinata, I feel like such a doofus. He places the ice pack on his face, and instantly feels partial relief from the throbbing. "Thanks Tsunade." He stands, grabs his bag and slings it over his shoulder. "I'm not making any promises, but I'll try real hard to not be in here weekly." He cheekily grins at Tsunade, and she just sighs in response as she begins filing the millionth accident form in for Naruto's file.
Naruto opens the door, and is greeted by Hinata, standing just outside to the left, book in hand. She looks up, notices him, and quickly puts the book away in her bag. "Oh, Naruto! Are you okay? Your face doesn't seem as red as it was..." He just stares at her slack-jawed for a moment. I can't believe she waited for me. Oh, man, get a grip of yourself, she just asked you a question dumbass, close your mouth! He quickly regains some form of awkward composure before giving her the same stupid grin he gives to everyone when he's uncomfortable.
"Oh, me? Ah, I'm fine, always am! I'm made of stone, I'm like, uh, invulnerable!" He sticks the ice patch to his face, and gives a small sigh of relief. "How come you waited for me anyway?" She smiles at him, and walks away down the hall causing Naruto to have to jog to catch up to her. "I mean, you brought me here at lunch and Tsunade wasn't there, I didn't expect to see you again until our first tutor session tomorrow? I mean, it's after hours, don't you have better things to be doing, like, uh... what are you into?"
She opens the main doors to the school, and holds the door open for him. "Reading, and the occasional after school study session."
He looks at her, bewildered. "Wow, and here I thought you were more than just a tutor." She looks away, slightly embarrassed, as they both continue to walk home together. Ah shit, look what you did, you made her feel uncomfortable! Jeeze, I thought you were supposed to be good around women. He quickly tries to recover. "Listen, not that there's anything wrong with being all brainy and stuff, I just thought, maybe you did other things for fun instead of being so serious all the time?"
She stops at a junction, and faces Naruto, a sad look behind her eyes. "It's not that I don't want to go and do other things and see the world, I have a lot of responsibility on my shoulders, and if I mess everything up..." She wipes a tear away from her eyes while pretending to itch them. He reaches forward to instinctively to brush her face with the back of his hand, before realising what he's doing, and stuffs it back into his pocket. She notices the gesture, and smiles to herself. "My father is the head of Hyuga corporation, and I am the heir to the business, so if I mess up, well, there is no other option. I have to be the best at everything, there is no room for mistakes." Hinata quickly glances at her watch, and a deep feeling of dread starts to form in the pit of her stomach. I'm an hour late, he's going to kill me. "I'm sorry, Naruto, I don't mean to pile my life story on you. I have to go, but I'll see you tomorrow afternoon for our first session." She turns and briskly walks away from him, down the street, then out of sight.
Naruto throws his bag on the nearby wall and jumps up himself, sitting while cradling the ice pack on his cheek. Man, why didn't it click before when she said her name?! Hyuga corporation, wow, I'm being tutored by like, the richest girl in town! How did my Aunt even afford that? As he sits there, pondering what seems like the worlds biggest questions, a stone whizzes past his head, nearly making him fall off the wall. Head spinning from side to side, he look for the culprit, and sees a red headed young man stood on the corner, all dressed in black. Naruto frowns. Gaara, what a fucking arse. "What the hell are the playing at man?! You nearly took my eye out! I need that shit to see, y'know, its quite helpful."
"Well maybe I wouldn't have to take out your eye if you kept yourself out of trouble, you know I don't want to punish you." He walks over to Naruto, and leans on the wall next to him. "So, care to explain this whole Sasuke situation? It seemed like that vein on the side of his head was about to explode when I walked past him in the smoke shed."
Naruto sighs, and puts his entire face in the ice pack, hoping that maybe the slightly melted ice will drown him. Why do I even bother trying to be the good guy?!
Hinata rushes in through the front door, and closes it as quietly as possible. I really hope he's out with Lee. She kicks off her shoes, and places them neatly in line with the rest, and quietly walks through the hall and towards the stairs, hoping to just get to her room, lock the door, and hope nobody noticed how late she is.
She puts her foot on the first step, then hears his voice call from the living room, and shudder runs down her spine. I knew he wouldn't be out with Lee, it's typical. She drops her bag at the foot of the stairs, and timidly walks to the living room door, staring at the floor. "Yes, Neji?" She notices out of the corner of her eye that he's laid out on the recliner, bottles of beer surrounding the chair. Great, and he's drunk. I don't know why Father lets him live with us. If he knew half the things that go on when he's not around…
Suddenly a bottle smashes next to her head, causing her to flinch and cover her head with her hands as glass shards fly everywhere. Neji sits forward, clicking the recliner back into place. "When I call you, I expect you to come in the room and look me in the face, not stand in the doorway like some hovering rabbit. Now clean this mess up, you know I hate mess." She walks into the room and kneels on the floor, collecting the dust pan and brush from behind the sofa, which is there for when these incidents happen. As she cleans up the broken glass, Neji stands and walks towards her, standing over her, watching her. "Do you care to tell me why you are late? I expected my dinner to be ready half an hour ago."
She takes a deep breath. She knows what's coming regardless of what she says. But not saying anything at all makes the situation much worse. "Someone at college, they were hurt and I just wanted to make sure..." She hadn't braced herself for the stinging all down her face this time, the slap came much sooner than she anticipated. He's really angry this time. Is this finally going to be it? He grabs her by the hair, yanking her around as he kneels and brings his unshaven face into view, the smell of booze on his breath overwhelming.
"You know what I think, sweet baby cousin? That isn't good enough!" He throws her to the floor, and kicks her in the ribs. Hinata, although used to this, still struggles to hold back the tears. Don't let him see you cry, it'll only make things worse, you know this. She turns her face towards the floor, so that he doesn't see the stray tear that has escaped rolling down her face. "I am what is important, I am your number one priority Hinata. You know we have to pre-arrange these things if you are going to be later than usual, and you should appreciate that I even give you that luxury." He walks back over to his chair, leans back, reclines and cracks open another bottle of beer with his teeth. "You've taken everything from me, so I will take everything from you. Now get your pathetic, scrawny ass out of my sight, I don't want to see your sorry self until tomorrow."
She quickly scrambles from the floor, taking the dustpan full of glass into the kitchen to empty it. She places the pan on the side, leans against the kitchen unit, and begins to sob. She places her hands over her mouth so that Neji can't hear her, but this time she is just too tired to hold back all the emotions pouring out of her. After a few minutes after she regains her composure, she sits at the kitchen unit on one of the breakfast stools, and pulls out the book she was reading in the hall at school not too long ago.
Hinata Hyuga's diary; what goes on behind closed doors.
My documentation of domestic abuse.
A/N: So, I know this chapter has been quiet serious and has touched upon sensitive subjects, but I feel that sometimes these things need to be spoken about, even if it's through a work of fiction. It won't always be so super serious and dark, but I would like to include this in this story, and I hope none of you are put off by this. But thank you for reading, and reviewing, it feels good to feel like I have a creative outlet again.
