Sorry for the long wait! I had started this chapter, but just got around to finishing it tonight.
Enjoy! :)
Disclaimer: I own no one but my OC, Athena Ricci.
"Making their way to the ring, with a combined weight of 462 pounds, being accompanied to the ring by Athena, Team Rhodes Scholars!"
Cody, Damien, and Athena get in the ring, the crowd booing them. They turn around and face the entrance ramp to find out who their opponents are.
Instead of a tag team, AJ came skipping out, stopping at the top of the entrance ramp, smirking.
"Cody, Damien," She says, looking at them. "You attacked your opponents, so I personally took it upon myself to find new opponents for you two. These two men recently became a tag team, and would love to do anything for me, so all I have to say to you is good luck."
She turns back around and walks backstage. Cody and Damien stand there, confused, when the lights go out and the arena goes red as fire goes off.
"Their opponents, Kane and Daniel Bryan, Team Hell No!"
Damien's eyes widen and Cody begins reassuring him.
Athena gets out of the ring and Damien stands on the apron, allowing Cody to start out against Kane.
Near the End of the Match:
Cody had just tagged Damien in when Daniel tagged in Kane.
"COME ON, DAMIEN!" Athena yells, hitting the mat. "YOU CAN DO IT!"
Once Cody regains some energy, he walks over to her and whispers, "Go distract Bryan." She nods and walks over to their corner. She pokes him in the back (he wasn't on the ground, but on the apron, so she couldn't reach his shoulder). Frowning, he turns around, confused.
"What are you doing?" He asks.
She just smiles and waves. The ref walks over and starts yelling at her to get back to her corner. Behind him, she sees Cody hit Kane with the Disaster Kick.
Shrugging, she says, "Okay. Sorry, Daniel!"
Once she's back in her corner, Damien is pinning Kane.
"1…2…3!"
"The winners of this match: Team Rhodes Scholars!"
Cody and Damien are both in the ring, so Athena gets in, too, standing between them and raising their hands in the air.
"Let's light it up! Light it up, light it tonight!"
AJ stands at the top of the entrance ramp, microphone in hand and frowning.
"That was unfair," The GM says, glaring at Athena. "Your manager distracted – "
"Whoa, wait a minute!" Athena interrupts, now holding a microphone. "What I did was unfair? Of the four men out here, do you know how many of them you've made out with? Three! And you always gave our opponents an advantage when you were whoring yourself around and – " Her microphone cut off. "What the hell?! TURN MY MICROPHONE BACK ON! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!"
As she's yelling, Cody picks her up and carries her backstage.
Before they get there, AJ says, "Next week, I will personally choose your opponents – "
"You mean like you did last time?!" Athena yells, still being held by Cody.
"And I promise," AJ continues, as if she didn't hear Athena's interruption. "That none of them will be an ex-boyfriend of mine."
"It's going to be hard to fine one of those!" Athena yells.
Cody walks backstage with an annoyed Athena and a pissed off Damien.
"Who the hell does she think she is?!" Athena asks, angrily. "She can't just go around – "
"ATHENA!" Cody and Damien yell at the same time.
Startled, she asks, "What?"
"You need to calm down," Cody says, sighing. "She didn't do anything unfair. We deserve what she's going to give us and you need to accept that."
Huffing, she crosses her arms and says, "No."
Cody runs a hand through his hair, irritated and exhausted. "Damien, talk some sense into her. I'm getting a headache."
He turns around to walk away, but Athena says, "Wait!"
Sighing, he turns around. "What?" She looks around, looking absolutely terrified. "Athena? What's wrong?"
"You need to come with me," She says, softly. "It's important."
She storms down the hallway. Cody frowns and looks at Damien, who looks as confused as he does. They finally go after her, catching up with her a few seconds later. She leads them into their locker room and locks the door.
"Now, before I say this," She says, sighing. "You have to promise me that you'll believe me."
"Yeah, absolutely," Cody says.
"Of course," Damien says, with a nod.
She looks into Cody's eyes. "Cody…Someone is going to kill you."
Frowning, he asks, "What are you talking about?"
"Have you ever met any of my family?" She asks.
"Uh…" Cody says, trying to remember.
"Your sister came to a show once, I believe," Damien says.
"Yes, her name is Daniela," She confirms. "Have you guys ever met my father?"
"No, I don't think so…" Cody says.
"His name is Angelo," Athena says. "Come on, Cody, you have to think! This is important!"
"No, I don't think I've ever met him before," He finally says. "Why? What's going on, Athena?"
"He's going to kill you," She says softly.
His eyes widen. "W-What?"
"My dad is going to kill you, Cody," She whispers, on the verge of tears.
A pounding on the door interrupts them. "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THERE?!"
Athena takes a deep breath and quickly wipes her eyes. She unlocks and opens the door, coming face-to-face with AJ.
"Nothing," She answers, softly, looking right into her eyes. "Absolutely nothing was going on in there."
She walks away quickly, pushing her hair out of her face.
"Athena!" Cody yells. "Hold on a second!"
She turns the corner, ignoring his plea.
I'm…going to be killed. Athena's father is going to kill me and I can't do anything about it. I don't know when it's going to happen or where, just that it is undoubtedly going to happen. Athena gave me no information other than the fact that I'm going to die.
What are Angelo Ricci's motives behind this? I have never met this man before, yet he wants to kill me. I don't know what has happened to cause this, yet he won't discuss this with me like a civil human being; he wants to kill me, instead.
What if I never get the chance to tell her? What if she never knows?
And it will all be because of her father.
"Cody?" Damien says, frowning and looking at his best friend.
"Huh?" He replies, his thoughts interrupted.
"Are you okay?" He asks. "I'm aware that this information is quite…life-changing."
Cody blinks. "Well, my life is going to change, because I'll go from having a life to having no life."
"That is not what I meant," Damien quickly says. "I'm sorry if that is what you thought – "
"No, I'm sorry," Cody says, sighing. "It's just…Can I be alone?"
"Of course," Damien says, walking toward the open door. "If I can be of any assistance, I will be with Athena."
He walks out of the room, through the door AJ left open. She had nothing to say, she just wanted to catch someone doing something wrong so that she could punish them. Luckily, she was so confused by Athena's abrupt departure that she just walked away.
Cody walked down the hallways, looking for someone, but it seemed they had all retreated to their locker rooms. Finally, he found a techie backstage and walked up to him.
"Have you seen Damien?" He asks, a little too harshly and quickly.
The techie widens his eyes. "Uh…I think he's hanging around outside the Divas locker room."
Cody's face softens and he says, "Thanks."
He hurried down the hall and found Damien, pacing back and forth in front of the Divas locker room. When he hears footsteps, he looks up, and Cody sees the distressed look on his face.
"What's wrong?" Cody immediately asks.
"Athena came to the locker room to get her stuff, then proceeded to leave the arena," Damien explains. "I've been waiting here, hoping she'll return."
Cody shakes his head. "I don't think that's going to happen."
"Do you think she could be in danger?" Damien asks.
"I'm not sure," He admits. "But I have this feeling we should head back to the hotel to make sure."
"That's exactly what I was thinking."
Athena sat in her hotel room, on the bed, her knees under her chin as she scrolled through the channels on her TV. Sighing, she turns the TV off and tosses the remote to the end of her bed.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
"What now…?" She mutters to herself. She gets up and walks over to the door, unlocking it and opening it. "Cody? Damien? What are you guys doing here?"
"We needed to make sure you're okay," Cody says, his face showing how worried he really was.
Athena laughs softly. "You're the one who's going to die, yet you're worried about me?"
"Yeah!"
"Cody, it's my dad," She says. "I don't think I have anything to worry about."
"Oh, uh…"
She rolls her eyes. "Come on in. I was about to order room service."
