Edwin Mitchell was an ordinary man. Born and raised in Britain, moving to America with his wife when they grew older and the kids moved out, all in all having a good life.

His wife had died two years prior, taken by illness in a hospital bed. He visits her grave every day, and sometimes even during the nights he felt particularly lonely.

That was where he was now in fact, Heatherfield's graveyard, kneeling in front of his wife's headstone, it was late out, so nobody else was around.

That's why he was the only one to see it.

The sky had seemed angry that night, lightning striking across the sky with thunder rumbling along with it. The clouds were dark and covered the stars completely, rain pouring down endlessly.

He glanced up nervously, when he saw one streak of lightning that was unlike the others for one very main reason.

It was coloured purple.

His mouth opened in shock, question to no one on the tip of his tongue. When a bolt of purple lightning struck the ground furiously.

The resulting shockwave caused him to be sent flying backwards and into a grave opposite his wife's, Edwin simply could not tear his eyes away from the awe-inspiring display before him, the lightning bolt was still continuously hitting the ground, tearing up some of the grass with its pure power.

Edwin felt sadness when he realised it was directly on top of one of the newer graves, which had been dug out not two weeks ago.

With a sudden jolt the electricity stopped, and the graveyard was filled with silence once more, now that the cracking had gone.

Edwin timidly stood up and edged towards the grave, patting his wife's stone as he walked past for some comfort.

The ground had a crack down near where the head would be, deep and long. The headstone also had a crack in it, splitting it down the centre. Edwin sighed sadly and rubbed the stone, able to make out the person's name just barely.

Wilhelmina Vandom

He ran his hand down the marble stone and glanced down at the hole, freezing when he did.

Something had moved.

Edwin hastily pulled out his torch and flashed it back down the hole.

He jumped back with a scream at what he had seen.

A pair of eyes were looking back up at him.

Edwin grabbed at his chest and shuffled back until he was touching another grave stone. He watched in horror as a hand with a strange glowing pattern on the back reached out of the hole. It dug into the ground, and the earth shifted as another crawled out, making the hole bigger.

Slowly but surely, a hunched figure pulled itself from the grave's depths.

The person stilled for a moment, and then they snapped their head up, dirty red hair flying in all directions.

The first thing he noticed was the colour of her eyes, purple irises, black sclera, and purple markings on the left side of her relatively young, but crazed looking face.

The girl stared at him then, flicking dirt off her shoulder, an insane smile stretched across her face.
