First part of a small kind of Troy-focused three-shot.

Note: This chapter is Post-Megaforce, pre-Super Megaforce with some red rangers thrown in the mix :).

Jake grinned. "I bet you he can't get selfies with all 20 of the red rangers."

Noah rolled his eyes while Gia came over. "21, if we're being technical," she told him.

"Nah, I'm not technical. That's Noah's thing."

Another eye roll from the blue ranger made Emma chuckle as she walked over to the door where Troy was currently situated. The rangers were all currently in Jake's house as they waited for Troy to be picked up by Jayden red-freaking-samurai-ranger Shiba. Troy was being swept away on a power ranger related outing that was described confidentially. But it didn't take long for them to figure out what he was going for.

(So maybe Mike the green samurai helped them figure it out.)

Emma smiled as she watched Troy go through his duffle bag for the umpteenth time before frantically staring out the window. "Got everything?"

Troy broke out of his stance and nodded. "Yeah."

"Phone?"

"Yep."

"Noah's super secret weapon?"

"Yep."

"Said goodbye to your mom?"

Troy chuckled. "Definitely."

Emma laughed a bit, a sound that could make Troy cheer up any day. But he was somehow drawn to the window and the outside, the never ending skies and cities stretching forever giving him an odd sense of comfort.

Even after all that had been said and done, after what Troy thought was the biggest battle the team had ever faced, he still had a mission to get to. Now he understood. Their battles were far from over.

"You're nervous," Emma declared.

Troy gazed at her sheepishly. "Have I always been this easy to read?"

"As if. Maybe I know you well enough."

Troy gave her a half smile. "I'd hope so. It's been a year."

Emma's face fell into a dawn of realization before it brightened up again. "It has been a year. Troy, it's been a year!"

"Happy one year-a-versary guys!" Jake responded as the three others came over. "So what are we celebrating?"

"It's been just about a full year since Troy came to Harwood." Emma explained with a big smile, so infectious it ended up spreading to Troy's face as well. She looked up at him, and said shyly, "I hope that...it's been a good year."

Troy had a rush of every little shard of his past before nodding slowly. "The absolute best. Even with all these monsters and cuts, I got more than I deserved."

"It was fate." Gia shrugged.

Troy looked at the people in front of him, his friends, his family. Just a few of the most amazing people he'd ever seen in his entire life. Before he could get out a proper thank you, a horn suddenly honked from outside.

Gia peeked out the window. "Jayden's here!"

Emma picked up Troy's extra box of weaponry while Troy took his duffle bag (and made an attempt to snatch the box away from his pink ranger). "Come on Burrows. Jayden's never not gonna be prompt. Let's not keep you red rangers waiting." Before he could make a comment, Emma was out the door. Troy shook his head before turning to the remainders of his team.

"I'll get those selfies you wanted, Jacob." Troy told the black ranger. Jake smiled from ear to ear before giving him a handshake.

"Use the weapon." Noah told him. "And go kick some major butt."

"I'll make sure of it. Thanks guys."

"Make us proud, Burrows." Gia said. "And go catch up to your girlfriend." Troy smiled and nodded before running out the door to where Emma was waiting. As soon as he was out the door, the yellow ranger turned to the pair. She smirked before telling them, "He didn't deny that she was his girlfriend. Wait...should I be concerned?"

Troy jogged up to Emma standing in the middle of the pathway before glancing at the car waiting for him. He saw Jayden, seemingly ready as ever, as his predecessor spoke with another man in the car. The second red-wearing fellow had a thick helmet of curls to compliment his leather-invested uniform. The sight of the two red rangers suddenly made him a bit uneasy.

There's ten times more where that came from.

Troy shook off the little chip on his shoulder before running up to Emma and trying to take the weight from her hands. "It's not that heavy, Em. I got it."

But Emma pulled it away with a little grin. "It's okay, Troy. You know I'll feel guilty for not helping."

"Don't worry, Emma. You coming out here is helping enough."

Emma slowed down her walk, and by the end of the pavement she was looking up at Troy with a special gleam in her eyes. She finally put the box down with a smile.

"Okay, then..." she began. "I guess this is a 'see you later' moment?"

Troy shrugged. "I guess it is."

She smiled. "Go save the world for us."

Another shrug was given, this one a little more proud, before Troy said, "I mean I did help save it one time already."

Emma giggled. "But seriously, Troy...good luck."

Troy gave a sincere, grateful smile and said "Thanks, Em..." before enveloping her in a warm hug. Neither of them minded, or heard, the coos from their team or the red rangers that were about to help Troy become a legend.
