He couldn't believe it. They were winning, they were really winning. Every new creation Unicron made, they were able to take them out. Perhaps with some casualties each time, but that was to be expected he supposed.

Knightspear blocked a swiping claw meant to decapitate him with his sword, being pushed back from the force. Placing a pede on the monster's chassis, he kicked it away, it's jaws snapping shut inches from his shoulder plating. Pulling out his rifle, he fired off the last few shots, each hitting their mark, killing his opponent in a splatter of energon, the drops floating in the weightlessness of space. With them dead, he looked around to find his next opponent, though what he saw instead froze his pumps.

There Optimus was, being chased by Unicron, the planet catching up with his leader.

Firing up his jetpack, Knightspear propelled forward only to start floating as his as the jetpack ran out of fuel. He waved his arms as he tried to balance himself out, catching himself on a floating rock from what he could only guess to have been a part of a planet a long time go. Positioning himself on the rock, he pointed himself towards where he could intercept Optimus. Crouching, he launched himself. He shot through space, using any unfortunate mech who happened to be in the way, whether allies or enemies, it didn't matter so long as he got to his Prime. Many protests followed after him as well as a few shots nicking his armor, but not doing enough damage to hurt.

Just hang in there Prime...

He cried out as something tore through the armor on his arm and out the other side, lodging itself there, jerking his flight to a halt. Looking down he saw something to be embedded there. Following the connecting chain to it's source, he saw a grinning mech with a wild gleam in his optic.

The mech pulled on the chain, forcing Knightspear closer.

No! He didn't have time for this! He had to get to his leader and save him!

The moment he was in range, he swung his sword at the new mech who dodged. That however didn't stop him from attacking. Knightspear twisted his body around and roundhouse kicked the mech in his side, denting their armor and sending them away from him. He grunted as the chain dragged him after them.

He attempted to cut the chain, only to find he was unable.

A manic laugh was the only warning he got before he was forced to go on the defensive as the mech slashed at him with claws dripping a pinkish-purple fluid. He didn't know what it was, but he knew he'd better not let any of that come in contact with him.

Knightspear caught the arm with his damaged arm, wincing behind visor and facemask as the wound was stretched and pulled.

"I don't have time to deal with you!" He shouted in anger, releasing spikes in his knuckles and punching the manic mech in the face. However the mech only seemed to shrug it off and laugh as Knightspear kept punching him, crunching soft metal under his fists with each swing.

After the third punch, the mech slashed out with his free servo, seeming have had enough with the assault. His attack struck deep across Knightspear's chest, popping and sizzling as the acid slowly ate away at the armor. Knightspear jerked away with a shout of pain, releasing the mech.

He grit his denta and shut off the pain receptors in that area. He was at a disadvantage here. He needed some kind of surface for him to use his speed, speed that he desperately needed right now.

"Just get out of my way!" He shouted, gripping the chain and pulled, drawing the mech towards him.

He ducked under the claws and twisted behind them, drawing his sword and slashing at the backplating. His sword dug into the armor, but didn't penetrate. The mech laughed and spun around, grabbing at him. Knightspear tried to turn out of the way, but found himself shouting in pain as his doorwing was grabbed, acid melting the sensitive sensors making his back arch. He briefly felt more pain between his wings before his entire world exploded with agony.

The mech looked at the detached doorwing for a moment before shrugging and tossing it away where it floated away.

Knightspear gasped and writhed in pain for a moment before shutting down his pain receptors throughout his frame. He shuddered as error messages popped up in HUD, alerting him to the errors of sensors no longer there.

He turned back to the mech to glare at them. Idly he noted the chain floating around them, wrapped partially around his enemy, sparking an idea.

He shifted his stance, motioning for the mech to attack with the bend of a digit.

The mech gladly did so and charged, Knightspear dodging to the side. This repeated for a bit. When the mech would charge, Knightspear would dodge, earning a shout of frustration.

Finally when he deemed he had dodged enough, he pulled on the chain now completely surrounding the mech till it drew tight, tying them together. Confusion crossed their features before they began struggling to break free, trying to use their acid on the chains only to find it futile as the chains were resistant to the acid.

With the mech now tied up, Knightspear drew near and grabbed his helm and drove his sword through it, stopping all movement.

Gripping the base of the chain, he pulled, gritting his denta as the barbed end caught and held on. With a yank, he released a shout of pain as it came free, arm now hanging uselessly by a few wires and thin energon tubes. Gripping the useless are, he tore it off and tossed it to the side.

Warnings flashed in his HUD, alerting him to the energon loss and damages, but he paid them no mind, instead using the mech as a launchpad to resume making his way to Optimus. However, at his current rate, he wouldn't be able to reach him in time. Unless... It was risky, especially with how low on energon he was already at, but he had to do it.

With a mental command, he diverted the fuel lines in his jetpack to accept the energon in his system. A warning flashed, alerting him to the dangers. He dismissed it in favor of firing a quick burst from the jetpack, speeding him forward.

Almost there, he was almost there. Just a little further.

Unicron's large servo began closing around Optimus Prime, who clutched at a deep would in his chassis, an arm and a leg useless. His jetpack had begun sputtering as it ran out of fuel until it finally ran out, shutting down with a whine.

He grunted and turned towards Unicron, drifting now. He was too weak to fight back, having fed all but his reserve energon into the jetpack. It seems he wouldn't be completing this mission like he had hoped. None of his soldiers knew of his peril and if they did, none of them were close enough to help him. he had made sure to have them all fight away from the black hole, to protect them. So that none of them would be drawn into the hole.

He closed his optics and smiled. At least he knew that at his destruction, the Chaos Bringer will have no further need to mess with his soldiers. No, his family. The only reason why he was being targeted was because he was a direct descendant of Primus, Unicron's mortal enemy, and therefore radiated with his creator's power.

Power that drew Unicron to him like a moth to a flame.

Optimus Prime lived a long life. One that he was neither proud of nor regretted. He may have regretted many decisions he made over the vorns, but he was happy to have seen the end of the war. Happy to have seen sparklings run and chase each other with no fear in their innocent opics. Happy to have seen his soldiers lay down their weapons and mingle with the enemy, to have a drink with them. It warmed his spark to see his kind happy once more and that made all his regrets diminish.

He was ready. He was ready to give up his life so that his people could live on; to rebuild their dying race.

May Primus guide his spark to the Well...

Something slammed into his side, forcing a pained grunt out of him, jostling his injuries. Before he could get a look at who it was that saved him, they both slammed into a massive rock a ways away, slowly floating towards the black hole, being caught at the edge of it.

Optimus groaned and slowly sat up, rubbing at his helm. That had not been what he was expecting.

"I'll apologize for that later," a voice grunted not far away. Optimus turned to look at who saved him to find it to be Knightspear who was standing up, making his way to the Prime. He knelt down to the larger mech, his remaining arm resting on his knee.

"Optimus, sir, you have to give it to me so that I can complete this mission. You need to live so you can lead everyone. You're the only one everyone will listen to now that Megatron is gone." Optimus lowered his helm, optics lowering in silent grief at the reminder of the death of his friend only a few hours prior. "Everyone needs you, Optimus. Let me finish this."

Optimus raised his helm to look Knightspear in the one optic he could see through the broken visor. "And what of your sisters? You are just going to leave them?" He already knew the anser, but he wanted to hear it aloud.

His optics tightened at the mention of his family. "You know I would do anything for them, Optimus. They're why I decided this. If I can give them the chance to keep living then I'm going to give it to them. They deserve to be happy." Knightspear looked down, optics softening with a smile. "Lily hasn't told anyone besides me and her trine, not wanting to worry everyone, but she's sparked."

Not expecting this news, Optimus stiffened. Lily had recently just upgraded to her adult frame, but he was certainly not expecting her to be sparked already. Questions began forming in his processor. There were so many he wanted to ask, but was unable.

Knightspear looked up at him with a pained grin. "It's not just my sister's that I'm doing this for. It's so her kid can live. I won't be able to meet them if I do this, but knowing they get the chance to live is enough for me." He held his servo out. "So please, Optimus Prime. Let me do this."

Optimus glanced to Unicron, the behemoth almost upon them. He had to make his decision now or it would all be too late. Looking down, he disengaged the locks keeping the armor over the matrix, shifting the protective metal by hand when it refused to move due to his wound., some armor fell to the rock with a clatter. The matrix floated from it's casing, shining bright between them. He pushed the artifact towards the younger mech who caught it.

"May Primus' light guide you, young one."

The one optic he could see hardened as he nodded before standing up and turned away to look at Unicron.

Knightspear turned to look at him with a hidden smirk behind mask. "See you on the other side, big guy." He turned back to Unicron to shout, "Alright you bastard, let's end this!"

Firing his jetpack up, he launched away from Optimus, landing on a meteoroid further away, waiting for Unicron to catch him before moving to the next.

Optimus was forced to watch with a heavy spark as someone so young was willing to risk everything for everyone.

Knightspear grit his denta as he closed in on the center of the black hole. The gravity was getting denser and denser, making him rely more and more on his jetpack. His legs shook as he struggled to keep himself standing out of both exhaustion and pressure from all around. He turned to look at Unicron, a snarl on the giant's faceplates, who wasn't effected in the slightest. the only thing that was working on him as well was the pull of the black hole. However he was more concerned on destroying the matrix.

He closed his optics and took a breather.

This was it. This wasn't how he pictured it ending, but he wouldn't have wanted it any different. If he got to sacrifice himself so that his family might survive than so be it, he wasn't going to complain. He just hoped Lily would understand...

Speaking of Lily...

He opened their bond to the fullest, allowing all he was feeling to pass through. His sorrow at what he was about to do, and regret at not being able to see her anymore. His pain, both physical and mental, at not being able to see her smile one last time. His joy that she would be able to live on and make that family she always wanted.

Lily sent him her confusion. What was he talking about? What could possibly make him open the bond he usually kept closed during a fight? Why would he-

;-;No, Knightspear! You can't!;-; she shouts.

He smiles and opens his optics, jumping to the next rock. The pull was stronger than ever. Only a few more and he would be no more.

Greif flooded his spark from his sister. ;-;Please, Knightspear, you made a promise. You promised to always be there till the end.;-;

But didn't she see? This was the end. Perhaps not for her, but for him.

;-;Don't say that! This isn't the end because I won't let it. Just hang on, I'll come get you.;-;

How? Her warp drive was all but destroyed, damage too extensive to repair, so there was no way for her to be able to warp them both out, not without it either killing the sparkling or both her and the sparkling in the process. Not to mention the distance... He was just too close to the center.

;-;Why? Why are you doing this?;-;

Isn't it obvious? So she could live. So her trine could live. So her child could live. He didn't care if no one else survived, he just wanted them to live...

;-;But how can I when you won't be here? You're as much as my world as my mates and trine are. Please... Come back to me. We can find a different way to destroy Unicron, just COME BACK TO ME!;-;

He wished he could, he really did, but it was too late now.

Knightspear landed on the last rock hurtling towards the center. He was forced to his knees, vents rattling as they attempted to draw in cool air to cool off his overheating systems. Slowly he stood up. He just barely had enough power left to fire up his jetpack one last time to launch himself off the rock. The jetpack sputtered and powered down with a whine as it died. That was fine though, he was close enough now he no longer needed it.

He turned around to see Unicron taking up his entire vision, but he didn't see him. He only saw his sister. Oh what a wonderful sister he had. Sure, he had Dayton and Salina as well, but they weren't there growing up. They weren't there while he helped piece his sister together. He wasn't as close to them as Lily, even after all these years, but they were fine with that. They understood.

And while they could hear and feel what was going on as well, they respected their brother and sister and kept silent which he was thankful for.

;-;No, Knightspear! Don't do it! Please! I need you!;-;

She was truly the most beautiful femme, both human and Cybertronian. She was the kindest and most stubborn bot he knew. She was protective and sweet. Loving and genuine. She was just perfect in his optics and he was glad to have been her brother. He never said it before, but he looked up to her more than anyone else and many times he tried to be like her.

;-;Oh, Knightspear...;-; Her sorrow and pain filled him, mixed in with some happiness as well as that small hint of love she unconsciously sent.

He closed his optics and smiled. This was it...

;-;I love you, Lily.;-;

'~'~'~'

Tears dripped and floated away from her. She didn't even try holding them back. Her baby brother was dying and there was nothing she could do.

She struggled against the holds of her sister's trying to escape so she could save him. A frustrated scream ripped from her vocalizer just before a sob wracked her frame.

"No, Knightspear! Don't do it! Please! I need you!" She slumped in her sister's arms, sobbing as she listened to him pour out his spark. "Oh, Knightspear..."

At hearing the words he never spoke, she resumed her struggle to get free.

"Knightspear! Come back! Please, Knightsprear! Don't leave me, I need you!" she cried, flooding the bond with all she was feeling. She reached out and grasped at his side of the bond and held it tight, not wanting to let it go, as if she could stop the inevitable. "Max!" She fell limp once more, armor rattling from the force of her crying. "Please, Max... I love you..."

Not a second later, crushing pain filled her being, choking a scream from her. Besides her, her sisters released screams of their own as their bond with Knightspear was shattered.

LOL Oh, Optimus. You're not dying yet.

So was that angsty enough for you because FRAG! That was getting a little hard for me to write and I'm usually emotionless when it comes to killing off my characters and just angst in general. But I guess this is a bit different when I've put years into developing these characters (four years no I thing). Also people tell me I'm pretty good at writing the angst. You're thoughts?

I know I made Unicron seem like a bit of an idiot here for falling into that obvious trap, but he's ancient and indestructible so he just thought he would survive. Can you blame him?

This is officially the end of TPJH, guys. While it is sad, you have no need to despair for you will have a rewrite meaning an all new adventure with drama, action, and heartache. Oh the heartache. You all are not going to like me... I don't even like me. Why would I even come up with these things to do to poor Lily?

I recently made a new Tumblr rp -yes another now hush-, this one based off of Freeflight, the new name for Lily that she will be receiving in War of Change. So if you're interested in interacting with her and possibly knowing about parts of WoC before anyone else, go give it a follow and shoot me a message so we can do the plot thing. The blog will be under the name freeflightflies.

Thank you all for staying with me over the years and I hope to see you all in the rewrite! :D
