EPILOGUE
Within the deepest confines of the Foot armada, Karai sat meditating, secure in the knowledge of her safety. Nothing could penetrate the Foot without her knowledge. She knew everything that was happening, everywhere. Her spies spanned across the entire globe. Of course, some days ago the turtle Donatello had been caught using the printer in the back room-but the guards on watch at the time had been severely punished, and she was certain that the incident would never be repeated.
Karai shifted her pose, opening one eye to quickly check on her surroundings. Nothing had changed. The night was still in the air, and the moonlight lit up the dojo, especially the areas surrounding the windows.
She still wasn't certain if the turtles had survived. There had been rumors, of course, but she was quick to weed these out from what had truly happened. She knew for certain that after his building had burned to the ground Agent Bishop had fled the country, and was currently being pursued by both Federal agents and philanthropists. Apparently, in addition to performing illegal activities, Bishop had given quite a large amount of money to the city orphanage. The city wanted to reward his actions by inviting him to every dull meeting they had. Karai smirked.
One of the many things she had heard was that the Utroms had been seen in town. An internal spy claimed that they had left the TCRI building and headed space with something that looked like a humanoid robot, but Karai wasn't fooled. If her source was accurate must have been one of Bishop's exo-suits, although how it had survived the fire that burned down the building was currently beyond her knowledge.
In fact, her extensive knowledge couldn't tell her whether or not the turtles had survived the fire. If they had, they were being very quiet about it. She sincerely hoped that Donatello had been able to rescue his brothers. They made formidable opponents, and besides, Donatello had promised her the sword she wanted.
Karai closed her eyes and concentrated, meditation turning into planning. She didn't know what had happened with Bishop and the turtles, and until she had more information she must be patient. There were many other things that required her concentration at the moment. There was the situation in Tokyo, the trip she would need to make to Paris to settle the-
The air had changed. It was very brief, but it most assuredly had changed.
Karai opened her eyes, and found herself looking at the sword in front on her. The sword, silent and unmoving as stone, had not been there two seconds earlier. She smirked, and grasped the promised sword with one hand.
"So the turtles made it alive after all," she remarked aloud, but only the wind heard her. Aside from herself, the room was empty and still. Leonardo had been quick to leave.
"So, did you give it to Karai?" Mikey asked as Leonardo re-entered the lair.
"Yeah, I did it," Leo said, "I just wish it wasn't that sword."
"What did she say?" Mikey asked.
"I didn't stick around long enough to talk," Leo said, "Is Raph feeling okay?"
"Still recovering from the whole suit thing," Mikey said, "But since he can walk today Splinter has him and Donnie in the dojo."
"Still?" Leo asked, "It's been hours."
"I know, but ever since Donnie allowed Raph to get out of bed today, Master Splinter's been giving them a lecture."
"Not anymore," Donnie interrupted, "We've been let out for lunch."
Leonardo turned to see Donnie and Raphael hard at work eating sandwiches at the kitchen table.
"Yeah," Raph said. He looked a tad less green than normal, but it was still an improvement over the exo-suit, "And after that we get to teach Splinta how to use the computer in Donnie's lab."
"Lecture about what?" Leo asked curiously, as he and Mikey sat down at the table next to their brothers.
"About how wrong it is to steal, how wrong it is to give away money that isn't even ours," Donnie began, listing them off on his fingers.
"Basically it's about how I never shoulda spent all of Bishop's money when I figured out what I was doing," Raph finished, "And I get that. It's just…why does he keep on telling us the same thing, over and over?"
"Maybe because he doesn't want it to happen again?" Mikey cheerfully offered, "Ow!"
"Geez, I barely recover from the suit 'n' everythin'," Raph said, acting as if he hadn't just hit Mikey upside the head, "I helped Donnie escape Bishop only twenty minutes after he put me in the stupid suit, I sent Donnie to the farmhouse, I helped rescue you guys, I undid all the traps Bishop set in the sewer and brought Masta Splinta back from April's, and he's concerned about stealing!"
"Stealing is wrong, Raphael," Leo smiled.
"Yeah. I know." Raph confessed, smirking, "But this is almost worse than the suit."
"Hey Raph," Leo asked, "After you're done with your punishment, can you show me a few things about how to work the computer in the lab?"
"Hey, that's my job!" Donnie complained, smiling.
"I'd be happy to, bro," Raph said to Leo while throwing an arm over Donatello, "But ya see, I learned everything I know from the computer interface, and I still have to learn how to pull up the internet without asking the computer to do it for me. Donnie can teach ya what you want to know."
"Well gee Raph, sounds like you need a refresher course in computers," Donnie teased.
"So," said Mikey, "If you're so bad with computers, how do you feel about video games?"
"Like I'm gonna beat your shell," Raphael said.
Donnie coughed.
"That is, as soon as we're done with our punishment," Raph continued.
"Right," said Donnie, "well, we'd better get going. If we're still alive in the next few hours, you guys wanna have an ultimate championship video game tournament?"
"Well YEAH!" Mikey exclaimed.
"Sure, why not?" Leo asked.
"Then we'd better get going," Raphael said, getting up from the table, "Come on, Donnie. Let's get this over with."
"Might as well," Donnie said, "If we don't make it out of this, Leo, I want my funeral to be in Latin!"
Leo and Mikey cheerfully waved as their brothers left the kitchen, and they listened carefully until they heard them enter the dojo.
"So," Leo said, turning to Mikey, "Since Master Splinter is occupied, it looks like we won't be training much today. You want to hold a few video game practice tournaments while we wait for the others?"
"Bro, it's like you read my mind!" Mikey smiled, and the two shot out of the kitchen towards their living room.
