I think there's more to Sally than meets the eye. And even though I disliked straight off the bat when she appeared in the first episode, she kind of grew on me and hey, even shallow characters can have depth to them. And Sally Avril does indeed have depth...

Shallow with Depth

She knew that they would never last. That he would break her friend's heart in the end, hurt her even though he tries not to. She knew that the Nerd would go for the other Nerd, it was obvious they both liked each other as more than friends. They just danced around each other and let the whole situation become this big, whole mess for themselves and their friends.

She knew that something like this would happen.

She knew that so much unnecessary drama would come out of hanging with the Nerd Crew. They were teenagers after all, of course there would be drama. Which is why she tried to keep it down to a normal scale, to keep the balance and make sure no one gets too hurt both emotionally and mentally.

But somehow, they got mixed up and everything fell apart. The natural structure and order she had built came tumbling down before her eyes and she resented the Nerds for that. Especially their leader, the Nerd King himself. Peter Parker.

She had warned her friend not to get too close to him, to not pursue her silly teenage romance for him. Telling her she was better off staying with Flash instead, where they would have a lovely relationship in their High School years before moving on from each other and finding that special someone in the future. At least with Flash, Liz wouldn't be utterly heartbroken like she was with Peter.

Sally knew that their groups would face so much drama should they start to mix together. She knew that Liz would get hurt and Peter would not end up with the girl he loved. She knew that they would be dragged into whatever problems the Nerds had, problems that would become their problems and would in turn become her problem. And she wasn't going to let any of those problems stay if she had anything to say about.

And, much to her chagrin, even though the Nerd King and his two friends had practically destroyed the order she created and changed all of her plans, she couldn't bring herself to truly resent or disdain them as she once did before. She had actually begun to like them, though she would much rather get run over by a bus than admit that to them or anyone else for that matter. Even Peter, despite him breaking her friend's heart, was kind of a nice guy to hang around with, even though he is a nerd and can be a jerk sometimes. What, with all his disappearing acts and leaving at the last moment to get pictures for the Daily Bugle, Sally had to fight the urge to smack the living daylights out of him whenever he has some sort of bullshit excuse for leaving when something Spider-man related comes up. If she didn't know any better, it was as if Peter dressed up as Spider-man himself to go fight baddies and take pictures of himself at the same time.

Whatever.

He just better have a great apology to give to Liz after her friend gets over her heart break and break up. Because even though they may not make it as a couple, they can certainly be great friends without all that romance thing between them. Besides, Liz deserves someone who is just right for her. Hell, it could be that electric guy she sees on T.V. for all she cared. As long as it's someone who would take care of her best friend no matter what. Otherwise, there will be Hell to pay!

Because she was Sally Avril and nobody messes with her friends, that includes the Nerd Crew. Doesn't matter if the person is a super-villain or an alien freak from outer-space, she'll use her gymnastic skills to whoop their asses off to kingdom come!

She is Sally Avril, a shallow girl with a shallow mind.

But even shallowness can have depth…
