Five years later.

Looking at his back yard Severide wondered how he had ever agreed to let this happen. His perfectly kempt lawn was covered in screaming chocolate cake covered five year olds with balloons and birthday hats on their heads. It was the twin's birthday and practically the whole neighbourhood was here. Herman's youngest four children were occupying the bouncy castle causing havoc, Cruz's little girl who was just three was protesting that someone had stolen her balloon and Mills was doing a fine job of painting the kids' faces to various animals. Hearing the sound of tears Severide spun and scooped up the little boy who was running towards him with a rather large scrape on his knee, these damn kids would hurt themselves on the one part of path in the whole garden.

"Hey little man what happened?" Kelly mumbled as he placed him down on the table and grabbed the first aid kit which he had pre-emptively stored under there much to the amusement of Shay.

"JD wanted to be stood next to Lila in the line and he pushed me over when we were racing to get there." The little boy sobbed as Severide cleaned up his knees. With both twins being so boisterous he had become quite accustomed to patching young children up and though he knew he should be cross at his son for pushing another child over he had to fight the urge to smirk over the fact his son was going for girls at just five years old.

"There you are all patched up." He smiled as he placed a plaster over the cut and set him down onto the floor. "Why don't you go over to the ice cream and tell Chief Kelly said you can have an extra one for being brave huh? Just don't tell JD." Ruffling his hair he watched the little boy run over to chief. Turning he saw Shay and Dawson stood together smiling at him and shook his head at them.

"What are you to plotting now?" He asked as he walked over to his wife and placed his hands on her rather large bump. Shay was 8 months pregnant with baby number three a little boy whose name Benny Wallace Severide or junior as they were going to call him had already been decided, but what was more amusing that was Dawson was also sporting her first rather large bump and was 8 months pregnant which left no doubt in anyone's mind that both of these babies had both been conceived on Mouch's wedding night. "It scares me that you both have hormones in your body at the same time you know." He admitted to them with a smirk as he watched Casey walk up behind Dawson mimicking Severide stance behind Shay. "

"Should we be worried?" Casey smirked at Kelly. They had realised not long after the girls were into their pregnancy they were competing on who could get their husbands to do the most ridiculous thing for them whilst they were pregnant.

"Why do you always assume we are up to something bad?" Shay asked with an innocent grin on her face as she stole one of Dawson's chips.

"Yea I mean it's not like we claimed we were out on a long call when really we were at a bar is it?" Dawson asked with a raised brow as she looked between the two lieutenants giving them a judgemental stare.

"Hey… we had just pulled a 36 hour shift! We deserved a beer or two."

"Or ten." Severide laughed before he noticed that the bouncy castle was deflating. "Casey." He groaned before he and his blonde friend set of jogging across the garden to figure out what the kids had done to it.

Severide sat on the bench with his arm tucked around Shay as he watched Cruz, Otis and Capp were messing around on the floor each with around 20 children trying to keep them pinned to the ground. Everyone from the fire house was here and even if it had been the craziest Saturday afternoon of his entire life having to deal with all these kids at once he still loved his life. Pretty soon he would have another son junior to cuddle as the twins had decided that dad couldn't kiss them good bye when he dropped them off at school any more. Looking down at Shay he pressed a kiss to her neck tenderly and traced circles over her bump. "Hey, have I told you I love you today?" He questioned her softly tilting her face so she was looking at him and he could press a kiss to her lips.

"What do you want?" Shay asked him with a smirk as he pulled away. Having been with Kelly for nearly six years now she was pretty sure she knew exactly what her husband wanted and when he wanted it.

"Nothing, I'm just giving you a hint of what's to come later when all these kids have gone home."

"You know you look as mischievous as that night we did it on Herman's couch." Shay smirked at him leaning in for a kiss before she heard a cough behind them and a shocked Herman was almost choking on his drink.

"You did what?" He coughed looking at Severide more pointedly.

"Sorry to break up the party guys." Chief grumbled as he walked in just at the right time as Severide was trying to find some sort of reasonable answer to give his friend. "They just radioed in and there is a blaze across town and it is a real big one. They are calling in any off duty fire fighters who are available. I'm going anyone is welcome to join me." He smiled down at Shay and Severide.

"I'm in chief." Herman answered placing his beer down and pressing a kiss to cindys cheek.

"Me too." Cruz grinned.

"You know I am." Otis smiled and stood up from the floor.

Everyone else agreed that they were in even Casey who hadn't really wanted to leave Dawson but knew he would. Looking around the party Kelly instantly felt torn. There was no way that he wanted to leave Shay with all these kids but he really wanted to go and help. Turning his head to Shay he smiled softly as he could tell exactly what she was thinking.

"Kelly why are you still sat their get your ass to fifty one and get your uniform on." She grinned at him leaning over to press a kiss to his lips.

"Don't worry dear we all have her back." Cindy smiled referering to the fact that she, donna, mouchs wife and Mills' girlfriend would all be staying and helping Shay with the party.

"Let's go then boys." Chief smiled as they all headed out to their trucks.

Severide was about to climb into Casey's truck when he heard pounding feet heading towards him. "Daddy wait!" Ellie called as she rushed to him. "
"Baby I am so sorry daddy has to go and put a fire out."

"I know, I wanted to give you this." She smiled and held up a key ring. "Ella gave it me for my birthday and said it's a good look charm. I want you to take it." She smiled up at her dad placing it in his hand and leaning over placing a kiss on his lips. "Be safe daddy."

Severide nodded and placed a kiss to his daughters head. "I will baby." Looking up at his wife, at his entire life he had built Severide knew that he would always come home.
