It was a bright, beautiful day in the land of Tir Nan Og as the various young people appeared through the dozen portals surrounding the paved square, three on each side.
Several fairies and other individuals stood just outside of the square, waiting to greet the new arrivals.
Various exclamations of: "Welcome to Tir Nan Og!" and "Welcome back to Tir Nan Og!" were heard and as the arrivals stepped through, they started to mingle not just with their greeters, but with fellow arrivals as well.
"It's a beautiful day to start a new school year at the Academy, isn't it?" one girl said to another.
"Oh yes, it is!" her friend replied cheerfully. "And my sister is finally starting this year as well, so it'll be fun to have her around! I expect that she'll want to have her own friends and such, though..."
"I can't wait to see what Professor Potter will teach us this year! His classes are always so fascinating!" a boy exclaimed to his friend, who nodded in agreement.
In the distance, standing on the balcony of a castle that looked deceptively old, a tall man with messy black hair and sharp, green eyes, stood overseeing the gathering students as they formed their groups and either got into the various horse-drawn carriages available or made the trek up the long, tree-lined, twisted path up to the castle.
A smile spread on his face.
"The start of a new school year is always a time of excitement for you, isn't it, Harry?"
"It is. I love meeting my new students and hearing what the old ones have been up to while they were on their break..." Harry nodded, before turning to see who had spoken.
The pink-haired woman, her hair pulled back into a chignon, stepped out onto the balcony beside him, carrying a sleepy, curly-haired, black-haired young girl in her arms.
Harry chuckled at the sight.
"Do you want me to take Alyssa off your hands, Roxy?" he reached for the girl and her mother gladly offered her up.
"Gladly." Roxy smiled. "She was asking for you as soon as she woke up. Enjoy your time with her before the school year kicks in and you're besieged by students..."
"Daddy?" Alyssa looked up at him with bleary, blue-violet eyes.
"Yes, sweetheart?"
"School start today?"
"Yes, sweetheart. School starts today."
"Okay!"
Much more awake now that she had the chance to be held by her father, Alyssa demanded to be put down and her father obliged her.
"Well, now I know that Alyssa is awake and ready to go, what about the others?" Harry asked as he held his youngest daughter's hand.
"Leona and Liam are back at the palace with Dad having breakfast, while Kenneth and Gabriel are still asleep there. Or at least, they were when I left them." Roxy shrugged. "I just came up here because we could do with the walk. Dad and Dana said that they'd bring the others up here when they're ready."
Harry rummaged inside his robes, pulling out a gold pocket watch and glancing at it briefly.
"It's time for me to head down and meet up with the other staff members now. You and Alyssa will be okay? And the others?" he looked at his wife in concern.
"We'll be fine. Go." Roxy took back Alyssa in her arms and gave Harry a quick kiss. "I'll see you later."
Nodding, Harry turned around and exited the balcony.
"Welcome to the Tir Nan Og Academy of Magic. For those of you who do not know me, I am Morgana Klaus, Princess of Tir Nan Og. However, while we are speaking of me in my capacity at this school, you should address or refer to me as Headmistress Klaus."
Morgana stood at the podium, addressing the various students and other persons seated in the large auditorium.
On the stage behind her, several people, all of whom were fellow teachers and other staff members of the school sat in tall, mahogany-framed, red-cushioned chairs.
Roxy (seated in the front row and trying to keep all five of her children under control with assistance from their grandfather), saw Harry, seated next to the empty chair that Morgana would occupy (which was slightly fancier than the others and positioned right in the centre of the row of chairs on stage), paying close attention to what her mother was saying.
Andrina, seated on Harry's left, was also paying close attention to the former fairy queen's words as she spoke.
"Mom, I'm booored..." whispered the boy with straight, neat dark brown hair and hazel eyes, seated on her right.
The bespectacled girl seated right next to him, who looked like a female version of him and around the same age, nodded in agreement.
"Hush, Liam." she whispered sharply. She gave the girl a sharp glare. "Don't let him get to you, Leona. Especially now. You are both royalty and now is the time to behave like it!"
They looked as if they were about to say something again, but under the combined looks of their mother, grandfather and father, who had seemingly noticed their restlessness even from his spot on the stage, they shrunk down into their seats, abashed.
Roxy rolled her eyes and rubbed Alyssa's head lightly as the child seemed enamoured by a stray strand of her mother's hair.
On the other side of her, was a little boy who looked barely older than Alyssa with messy pink hair and green eyes, who seemed to be listening closely as his grandmother spoke, leaning on his mother's shoulder as he did.
The auburn-haired, brown-eyed boy who appeared even older than the pink-haired boy, but younger than the twins, sat between him and Rick, a small note pad in hand as he doodled away contentedly.
In time, Morgana finished speaking and then proceeded to introduce the members of staff with her on the stage, before signing off.
"Once again, Welcome, to the Tir Nan Og Academy for this brand new academic year. I wish you students all the best in your studies for this year and beyond."
A rousing round of applause went up as she took her seat, with many of the students cheering.
They started cheering even louder and some even got up from their seats to cheer as Harry stood up to address them.
Roxy smiled, seeing the obvious admiration and respect that her husband drew from the students.
A short while later, students, teachers, dignitaries, parents and well-wishers alike, all mixed together in a giant gymnasium that was converted into a party area.
Liam and Leona had gone off to mingle with their friends there and normally, Roxy would feel anxious about letting her two oldest out of her sight, but with several other adults in the room that they knew well, plus the security that was both visibly present and blended in with the crowd, she felt more comfortable that they wouldn't attempt any mischief- or at least, Liam wouldn't with Leona trying to rein him in...
She sighed as she stood with the three youngest, searching for someone she knew in the crowd.
"Oshkisa Roxy!" (1) she heard a young voice call out to her from behind.
Alyssa, who was in her arms, immediately started squirming to be put down.
"Amaris! Momma! Put me down! I want to go!" Alyssa exclaimed.
Roxy turned around and put the girl down, watching as she ran into the arms of a short, dark-olive skinned girl with neat navy blue dreadlocks in a low ponytail.
The girl picked Alyssa up and spun her in a circle, much to her delight.
"Hey, Alyssa. How are you?" Amaris offered Alyssa a high-five and she took it.
"I'm good!" Alyssa giggled.
"Hello, Oshkisa Roxy!" (1) Amaris greeted the older female as she carried the girl back to her mother.
"Hey, Gabriel, what's up?" Amaris knelt down to ruffle the pink-haired boy's hair.
"M'fine..." he mumbled, darting behind his mother's legs.
"And what about you, Kenneth?" she asked the auburn-haired boy.
"I'm okay, I guess." he shrugged.
"Amaris, where are your parents? I haven't seen them in quite a while..." Roxy looked around for them.
"They're probably off somewhere, mixing and mingling with the crowd. Or rather, Mother is doing the socialising and Father was simply dragged along for the ride." Amaris shrugged.
"Even after all these years, Rainer still hasn't changed..." Roxy chuckled. "Are you looking forward to your first year of school here though?"
"Oh yes, I really am!" Amaris suddenly looked excited as she handed over Alyssa. "I think that this school will be the perfect place to prepare me for life at Alfea!"
"So that's your long-term goal huh? You don't want to be a witch like the women on your dad's side of the family or like your maternal grandmother and aunt?" Roxy quizzed her.
"Oh no. I figure that I have enough cousins to take care of that for me, plus it's not like Cassidy's made a choice yet." Amaris shrugged. "What about Liam and Leona? Where will they be going next year?"
"They've said they wanted to come here, though why exactly Liam in particular would actually want to attend a school where his father and grandmother in particular will be able to keep a close eye on him is beyond me..."
"Roxy, darling! I've been looking everywhere for you!"
When Roxy and Amaris heard the feminine voice they both had quite different reactions- Roxy smiling and Amaris rolling her eyes.
"Rainer!" Roxy exclaimed as the two women hugged. "I haven't seen you in ages!"
Rainer broke apart the hug and looked Roxy in the eye. "How could I not seek you out and I'm sending my precious little one to school at your realm's fine educational institution?"
Amaris looked ready to sink into the floor right then and there.
"I'll just... go see if Liam is up to anything for you..." the girl slunk off as the women began to talk.
"Speaking of 'little ones', did you bring Cassidy and Malik with you?" Roxy queried.
"Yep! They're with Lucas right now and last time I saw him, he was being reassured by Harry that his firstborn would be absolutely fine attending boarding school here..." Rainer sighed.
"But that is how fathers are. Always so protective of their little girls." Roxy giggled.
"In that vein of thought, I almost feel sorry for Bethany. With who her parents are, when she grows up, they're going to have quite the time keeping the boys- or girls, if she's so inclined- away from her!" Rainer started giggling as well.
"Darian as a father. I honestly never thought that I would I'd see the day..." Roxy mused.
"And who would have thought that Aquila would have been that child's mother either?" Rainer added.
"Okay, okay. Enough gossiping. The walls have ears, after all..." Roxy looked around. "Why don't I introduce you to some of those people who will be Amaris' teachers? You might be less obvious about it, but I know you're just as concerned about her being away from you as your husband."
Rainer sighed, not even bothering to deny it. "Fine. Perhaps I can meet some other parents around here too. Lead the way, Roxy darling!"
As she followed Roxy, she grabbed a glass of juice off a nearby serving station and swallowed it all in one gulp.
Elsewhere in the crowd, Lucas stood speaking to Harry as he held the hand of a little, dark-haired boy firmly and a slightly older girl stood on his other side.
"Amaris will be fine here, Lucas. You know that Morgana and I can keep an eye on her. She's a smart girl. I'm sure she'll be able to make friends and do well at school here." Harry reassured him.
"I am not too sure. Amaris can be a bit of a... how do you say it... ah, yes. A bit of a teacher's pet at times..." Lucas fretted. "It's great that she would get along with the staff, but it might rub her classmates the wrong way..."
"She's a bit like you then!" Harry teased. "You were like that when we were at Red Fountain. Don't even try to deny it! She gets it from you!"
The boy and girl at Lucas' sides giggled, only stopping when their father shot them sharp looks.
"She'll be okay. You were like that and you turned out fine. Hermione was like that and she turned out fine and she was the biggest teacher's pet I've ever known!" Harry snorted.
"Your oldest two will be coming here next year?" Lucas queried.
"They have already made it clear to their mother and I that they want to come here, rather than attending Hogwarts or Ilvermorny, so here is where they'll go. Though honestly, why Liam would want to come here when he knows that his grandmother and I will be able to reign in his penchant for mischief..." Harry sighed.
"Ah... you're right. Amaris will be fine. Say... will you be going to our Red Fountain reunion next month?" Lucas asked. "I plan to and I've heard that Darian and Aki are going as well."
"Wouldn't miss it for the world. It'd be great to have the old squad reunited again, like old times." Harry smiled.
"It is not as if we have not been keeping in touch over the years, though. We even get together sometimes so the young ones can run around and let off that loose energy!" Lucas pointed out.
"True..." Harry nodded. "As much as I love them though, doing stuff without the children..." he trailed off as something caught his attention.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Liam looking as if he was up to something, trying to sneak out of the room.
"Excuse me, Lucas. I think I see trouble brewing..." Harry walked away as briskly as he could, skilfully navigating the crowd as he followed his eldest son out of the hall.
Just outside the doors, Harry spotted Liam snickering to himself.
Sneaking up on him, Harry tapped his son's shoulder, nearly scaring him out of his skin as several suspicious packets fell out of his pockets.
"Dad! What was that for?" Liam's eyes were wide as he took deep breaths in an effort to calm himself.
"I saw you sneaking off. I do know that your mother and I specifically told you not to leave the gymnasium..." Harry spoke sternly as he picked a packet off the floor and inspected it, finding that it was one of the many Weasley Wizard Wheezes products. "Did you honestly think that you could sneak past me?"
"Yes..." Liam muttered, sulking.
At that point, Roxy came out of the hall as well, having left the younger children in the care of her father and Dana followed closely by Leona.
"Liam, Leona told me that..." Roxy started.
"SNITCH!" Liam shrieked.
Harry sighed as he flicked his hand, making the Weasley joke products disappear.
Leona looked back at her brother, arms folded over her chest, looking significantly unimpressed by his antics.
"I would have nothing to tell in the first place if you weren't up to something, now would I, brother dear?" Leona spoke coolly.
Harry and Roxy looked at each other over their children's heads and rolled their eyes.
"Let's go back inside now," Harry put a firm hand on either twin's shoulder. "and enjoy the rest of the evening. Please do your best not to get up to any more trouble. Or else."
He let the threat hang in the air.
He steered them back inside the gymnasium and watched as they went off, squabbling again, to go talk to Amaris.
"I swear, they're going to give me grey hair before I turn forty..." Harry sighed.
"I don't think I'd have them any other way though, would you?" Roxy asked, taking her hand in his as they stood just inside the doorway, taking in everything.
Harry smiled.
"No. I wouldn't."
(1) Oshkisa is a word I made up that is a Spectran word used as a general term of respect for a female- the male equivalent is Oshkiso. Amaris and her siblings grew up between Spectra and Andros so they interchange the languages of the two planets quite often.
Ages of the children mentioned in this chapter:
Harry and Roxy: Liam and Leona- 10, Kenneth- 7, Gabriel- (almost) 5 and Alyssa- 2.
Lucas and Rainer: Amaris- 11, Cassidy- 8, Malik- 5.
Darian and Aquila: Bethany- 2.
Most of the other characters along the other way did get married/had relationships, have children or both but as they're not in this chapter, I don't consider it relevant to mention them here either. If anyone is actually interested, I may write up a more detailed list and post it on Deviantart.
There is also the possibility of me writing some sequels/sidequels of sorts for this, but don't look for them for a while yet. I have plenty of other projects I want to do before revisiting the little universe I created here.
That brings us to the end of Specialist Potter! Three years, five months and five days to finally bring this to a close!
It's been a long, exciting ride and I'm glad to have shared it with you. I hope you truly enjoyed the story. Feel free to leave all your final thoughts in as much detail as you'd like.
Akela Out!
