A/N: Hey guys! Here's a short story for y'all enjoy!
Haymitch sat in his home in the Victors Village, it had been just over fifteen years since the rebellion, and the games were over, for now at least. Since then, Peeta and Katniss had gotten married and had a little baby girl, who they named Willow-PrimRue Mellark, who was named after Katniss' sister, and her ally in the 74th games. She was one now, and had yet to begin speaking.
The phone rang, making Haymitch stumble off the couch in a drunken stupor.
"Hello?" He grumbled.
"Haymitch, would you mind coming over? Peeta and I need to speak with you."
Katniss.
Without saying anything, he got up and made his way over to their house, which was literally right across the street from him, so he could visit anytime he wanted, somethings just held him back.
When he arrived, Willow was playing on the floor with her older cousin, Finny, Finnick and Annie's fourteen-year-old son, who had been born just after the rebellion.
"Well, i'm here, you wanted to speak with me sweet heart?" He asked, taking a swig of his vodka.
"Peeta and I want you to stop drinking"
"No way! You don't know what i've been through, you don't know me!"
Peeta sighed.
"Yes, we do know the pain you've been through, we've been through it too, if you don't stop drinking, we won't let you be alone with Willow...remember what happened the last time you were alone with her?" The baker asked.
"In my defense, I forgot she was a baby."
"That happened last month!" Finny shouted from the floor, Katniss and Peeta gave Haymitch a dirty look.
One-year-old Willow sighed and got up, she had just learned how to walk the previous week, surprising the family, seeing as it was also her birthday.
The little girl clumsily walked over to her grandfather, and hugged him around his legs.
"Haymisch." She said.
The group gasped at how she had said her first word, and for the grandfather, that was the last straw. He gently nudged her away from him, and took the vodka bottle, emptying the contents into the sink.
"I'm done, I won't drink anymore."
A/N: Hope y'all liked it! And yes, I'm aware that I spelled Haymitch's name wrong towards the end, my poor attempt at baby talk. Please review, I love reading them.
