Chapter 1

Third Person

Rachel Berry was just a normal girl. She attended McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio. Sure Rachel wasn't the most popular girl in school and only really had the glee club and most of the time she didn't even have them. All this changed with three life changing events that made her change the way she thought about everything.

The first made her shake in fear and disgust every time she thought about it. How could Rachel ever be so weak as to not be able to defend herself? Rachel always used to believe that what happened to her was her fault and sometimes she still does, but she is beginning to realize that it was not her fault. Rachel began to shake as she was brought back to that day just last year. The very day that would forever change the rest of her life.

Flashback

It was after glee and everyone had already left. Rachel wanted to stay after to work on a few songs she wanted to sing. Rachel had begun to play the song on the piano when she heard a noise from behind her. Rachel turned to look behind her but didn't see anyone there.

Rachel then went back to playing the piano. Rachel continued to play for ten minutes but had the feeling that she was being watched. Rachel began to feel unsafe and started to pack up all of her things. When Rachel was finished packing up her stuff she quickly made her way out of the choir room. Rachel practically ran to her car in fear that she was going to get hurt.

When Rachel made it to her car she started to think that she had been imagining everything and that no one was really behind her. Rachel began to get her keys out of her purse when someone snuck up behind her. Rachel felt the person grab her from behind and put their hand over her mouth so she couldn't scream. The person dragged her away from the car and under the bleachers. When they reached the bleachers her threw he on the ground and proceeded to get on top of her.

End Flashback

Rachel still remembers the days following that afternoon/night. She remembers walking the school hallways in fear of everyone and every little twitch or movement. Every time she saw her attacker she cringed and ran away in fear of being hurt again.

Rachel started to hide within herself. She would put on a fake smile and barely made her way through the school day. During the weekends she would crawl up in a ball on her bed and wouldn't move. She would have the same flashback over and over of that horrid day.

Rachel's fathers didn't know what happened, but they did know that something was up. Her fathers' didn't want to push her further away than she already was. Things had been difficult after Shelby entered Rachel's life then proceeded to leave her all alone. Rachel tended to blame her fathers' for making Shelby sign the contract in the first place.

It was about three to four weeks after that day that Rachel discovered that she was pregnant. When Rachel saw the positive sign on the stick she didn't know what to think. She didn't know what to do; if she should tell someone what happened or if she should continue to keep it to herself. Rachel decided it would be best if she told her fathers what had happened.

When Rachel's dads found out that Rachel was raped they wanted to press charges but Rachel told them that she couldn't stand it if he were to get away with what happened and to just let it go considering it would be his word against her word. Her fathers eventually decided that it would be best for Rachel and for the baby that she was carrying if the family left and got away from the place and the person that caused her pain.

Rachel was upset when she first found out that she had to move, but later realized that she probably wouldn't have the guts to go back to school and see her rapist every day. Rachel knew that leaving was the best option for her even if it meant leaving the people she cared about. It took the family about a week to pack up all their stuff. Rachel's family was moving to Florida to live with her grandma and grandpa until they could find a place of their own down there.

As Rachel was about to leave she thought back to all the fun times in glee. How even though most of the people in glee didn't like her how much fun she had and how much she appreciated each and every one of the members in glee. Glee had given Rachel a place to be who she really was. It gave Rachel courage to continue to move on after she had been raped. Glee gave her the strength she knew she would need to be a good mother to her child.

Things had been tough when she first left Ohio. It was hard leaving all of her teammates behind. It was stressful on her at first living in a new town and going to a new school in which she would only be known as the pregnant girl. Her fathers and grandma help Rachel through all the tough times. As time went on things got easier for Rachel. Her fathers' soon found a house for them to rent so they could move out of her grandma's house. Rachel's fathers were really supportive of her and helped her with anything they needed. They paid most of her hospital bills and began a fund for the baby and continued to add to her fund in case something happened to them.

Rachel went into labor at midnight. Her fathers rushed her to a hospital and after 7 hours of labor Rachel had a beautiful little girl. Rachel remembered the first time she saw her little girl and how she felt that very first time.

Flashback

After giving birth to her beautiful daughter, Rachel slept for what seemed forever. Even in her dreams she pictured what her daughter could look like. Rachel didn't get the chance to see her baby girl after she gave birth to her, because there were complications with the pregnancy. Rachel didn't know what this meant to her and her thought of ever having kids again. Rachel wants more kids once she gets married and has a good job, but now she doesn't know what's going to happen.

Rachel heard the shuffling a feet coming toward her room and turned to see her dad and daddy. In her dad's arm was little baby covered in a pink blanket. "That's my little girl," Rachel thought to herself. Rachel's fathers brought her daughter to her.

"Be careful," Leroy told his daughter as he handed her the newest addition to their family.

Rachel looked down at her daughter and was amazed. She was so beautiful. Everything about her daughter was amazing. The gorgeous tone to her eyes as she looked up at her mommy. Rachel couldn't really see any of her daughter's father in her for which she was really happy about. Rachel knew it would be hard taking care of her daughter knowing how she came to be, but she also knew she could take care of her and protect her. Rachel continued to hold her new baby girl as if she was her life.

"What are you going to name her?" Hiram Berry asked his daughter. Hiram knew that Rachel would be a good mother no matter what happened in the near future. He knew that if something were to happen to Leroy and him Rachel would be fine on her own.

"Amelia," Rachel whispered to her fathers. "Amelia Rose Berry."

End Flashback

Rachel would remember the days following the birth of her baby girl. The sleepless nights as Mia cried in the middle of the night. Rachel's fathers helped her the first month as Rachel adjusted to having to not only take care of herself, but her daughter as well. At first it was hard for Rachel to juggle taking care of her daughter, working a job, and going to school at the same time, but after two months she began to get the hang of it. Her father's would watch Mia when she was at school or at work, but any other time Rachel was taking care of Mia.

Rachel was glad to have her fathers in her life, yet she couldn't help thinking about those she had left behind in Lima. Rachel thought about the glee club everyday while she was gone. She continued to wonder how each and every one of them was doing. She wondered if the club was still up in running after losing regionals. Rachel wanted so bad to go back to Lima, but her fathers were determined that she not return.

Rachel's life had finally begun to turn around. Things were finally looking good for her and her family. Rachel had Mia, she began making friends, and she was doing well in school; her fathers were happy to be closer to the rest of their family. All that changed in a single moment.

Flashback

Rachel was waiting up for her fathers to return from work. Rachel wanted to talk to them about maybe joining the glee club at her new school. Rachel knew that she had Mia and that she need to take care of her, but Rachel also wanted to live a normal teenage life. She knew that her fathers would probably tell her no, or if they did say yes then she wouldn't be allowed to go out on weekends with her friend from school.

Rachel was brought out of her thoughts by a knock on the door. Rachel quietly made her way over to the door hoping that the person at the door wouldn't knock again and wake up Mia. When she got to the door she noticed two men in police uniforms were standing at the door.

"Are you Rachel Berry?" one of the police officers asked. Rachel just nodded her head to show the officer that she was who he was looking for. Rachel was confused as to why they were there. "I'm sorry to tell you that your fathers have been in a car accident, and they didn't make it." Rachel took one look at the officer after hearing the news and broke down into tears.

Rachel had been devastated when she heard the news. She didn't want to believe that her fathers were gone, but she knew it was true. Rachel also knew that she couldn't stay in Florida. The memories of her fathers were still fresh in her mind. She decided that she would become emancipated from her grandparents, who after her parents' deaths had custody of her, and move back to Lima, Ohio. Rachel knew it would be hard for her and her daughter, but she also knew that it was what was best for them.
