Disclaimer: I don't own Kingdom Hearts... just you Cyrah!
The new world, DisneyTown, was definitely a sight to see. All the buildings were brightly colored in various shades of red, blue, yellow, and green. There were banners, balloons, streamers, and bundles of other party supplies around the city. Everything looked festive, even the atmosphere seemed happier here.
I followed the yellow brick road with both Nici and Ventus. Nici looked infatuated with the city, her blue eyes wide with complete amazement.
"Woah..." Came Ventus' almost inaudible whisper. I watched as he stopped walking, causing Nici and I to halt, also.
To be honest, this town was beautiful, but I couldn't focus on anything. I kept replaying a 'certain' scene over and over again in my head. I shook my head in an attempt to clear my thoughts, but the only thing that had accomplished was making my bangs fall in front of my eyes.
"Tada!" Came a sudden voice. Causing all three of us to jump back. Especially Ven. I looked around for the source of the voice to see a big round- dog...? "Wearin' the mask of peace and hope..." The stranger continued.
"Oh my gosh! This is gonna bother me... what in the world is he? Is he a dog or something?" I thought as I listened to his speech.
The guy jumped up and pointed to himself, and did a few other poses before continuing, "Comes the fearless defender and hero of this town! It is me- Captain Justice!" He spins around before striking a pose.
"Huh?" My spiky haired friend and I said simultaneously.
Nici had a very confused expression showing on her face, "Uhm..."
So called 'Captain Justice' began to take a few steps closer to the three of us, "Do my hero-senses detect that you three got troubles?"
"No." Nici replied with a small shake of her head. I smiled at this, it wasn't much but Nici talked to somebody she doesn't know. Even if it was just a single word, it's still progress.
The 'superhero' turned his attention to the small brunette and lightly glared at her for a moment before addressing all three of us once more, "Just say the word, and Captain Justice will make all your problems disappear!"
"Do a magic act and vanish then..." I muttered under my breath. There was something shady about this guy, but what was it?
Captain Justice must've heard my comment, and was probably not liking Nici much either. So he turned his attention to my blonde friend, Ventus.
"Wh- Who? Me?" Ven asked pointing to himself. He got a nod and a throaty grunt in reply. Ventus looked back at him, "I'm just trying to make some friends-" he looked down and sighed, "Nevermind, forget it."
Captain Justice slightly smiled, "Don't be intimidated by my magnificence. Go on and spit it out." He instructed, "Then... remember to vote for Captain J."
"Vote?" Nici asked in an innocent tone.
Captain Justice quickly shook his head, "Oh! Well, uh, forget that." He crossed his arms over his chest, "How can I help? That's the only reason I'm here."
I rolled my eyes, "Funny. I'm having a hard time believing that." I murmured quietly. Oh my gosh, I must have something against this 'Captain Justice' guy, Or Isa's sarcasm really rubbed off on my already sarcastic nature.
Ven crossed his arms in thought, he was probably thinking of something to ask, "Hmm... I know!" He suddenly exclaimed, "Tell me about your town. Everything's so festive. Is it always like this?"
"Huh? That's all? Well, the festivities are on account of the Million Dreams Festival- which is why I've made sure there's carnival stuff all over town." Captain J began to walk away from us.
Ventus slightly tilted his head, "Really? Like what?"
The 'hero' stopped walking for a moment, "Hoho, you gotta see it for yourself. Wouldn't be much of a dream if I just told ya."
"Right. Thanks." Came my friend's response.
"I have a question, uh, Captain Justice." I said, remembering what I was trying to figure out earlier, "What are you? Are you a dog, or something?"
"And kids, don't you go forgettin'..." He said, completely ignoring my, very valid, question. "Captain Justice is the one who solved all your problems." No he didn't..., "That would be Justice with a 'J'."
Nici smiled innocently, "Joke starts with a 'J', too!" She probably didn't even notice that would probably offend Captain Justice. Or maybe she did know it would be offensive. Either way, it was hilarious!
I could tell Ventus was trying to hold in his laughter, "Uh, sure. I got it Captain Justice." He laughed.
"Aww, phooey!" A voice suddenly called out in frustration, "This stinks! Now we can't open the ice-cream shop!"
Looking around, I see three small ducks. They kind of reminded me of Scrooge McDuck, actually. I look back toward Nici and Ven, "Should we see if they need help? Seems like their having a bit of trouble."
Captain Justice instantly perked up, "Trouble?" He repeated as he rushed over to the ducklings, "Rescue is on the way!"
I roll my eyes, "Anywhere that guy goes, I'm sure there's bound to be trouble." I joked.
"Uh-huh!" Nici agreed with a small nod of her head.
Ven crossed his arms, "A festival, huh?" He said, looking around the brightly colored streets, "Maybe we can make some new friends here." A hopeful glint sparked in his eyes, a grin stretched across his lips.
I couldn't help but just stand there, smiling like a complete idiot. I mean, come on! How can a person not feel all warm and fuzzy inside after seeing that face?! I shook my head, this whole 'Ventus' thing, was turning me into such a girl...
"Friends!" Nici suddenly piped up. She pointed to herself, then at Ven, then at me. She smiled, "Friends." She said again.
It was a great, no, a wonderful feeling to know I was counted as her friend. I glanced over at Ven, he was smiling like crazy, too!
"Yeah, friends forever." He agreed, resting his arms lazily behind his head. "Well, what should we do first ?" He asked.
I thought for a moment, "How about we-"
"Cotton candy!" Nici exclaimed in pure excitement, cutting off what I was saying. She covered her mouth in embarrassment, her cheeks flushing pink.
I let out a laugh, "Nici, you do know it's okay to be loud, right?" I asked, "Everybody's loud at some point. It's no big deal, besides, we're all friends, remember?"
Nici looked down, then smiled up at me, "I know," She said dismissively. She pointed at a pink and white striped cart, "Cotton candy."
"You sure do have a one track mind, don't you?" I replied in a joking manner, "Then again, I guess I do, too."
Ventus chuckled, "Come on, let's just go get some cotton candy."
"Hoorah!" Nici cheered in her own quiet way. She walked over to cart and looked back, waiting Ven and I to hurry up and get there.
"Well, we better not keep her waiting." Ven chuckled.
I nodded, "Yeah, making her wait, would probably be a bad idea." I giggled.
Ven grinned and took my hand. I could feel the butterflies in my stomach, but I didn't say anything. I was just smiling, and probably blushing a little. It was going to take a while to get used to this.
"Three cotton candies, please." Ven ordered, handing the Munny over to the guy, still holding my hand. He took the treat and handed one to each of us.
"Thank you." Nici thanked before nibbling on the sweet treat.
I took a hungry bite of mine, too, "Yeah, thanks." I smiled, "I'm still hungry from when we were in the Enchanted Forest."
Ven laughed, "Welcome," He took a bite of his own, "Cyrah, aren't you happy you finally got to eat?"
I nodded, "You bet I am!" I said enthusiastically. I threw my arms out as a gesture of my happiness, but, my cotton candy accidentally got stuck to Ven's face. I covered my mouth to hold back the laughter.
Nici burst out in a soft fit of laughter seeing the snack stuck on his face. Her laughter was contagious because, soon, even I was laughing at it.
Ven unstuck himself, "Really Cyrah? Really?" He asked, but also ended up laughing.
"Aww, I'm sorry, Ven Ven." I said in a voice meant for young children. I giggled and patted his head, slightly messing up his, already messy, hair.
"Gimme a break, Cyrah!" Ventus laughed, trying to put his spiky hair back in place.
Nici suddenly jumped up and stuck her candy on Ven's face, too, "Sticky, sticky!" She said continuously while laughing.
My blonde friend took it off and rolled his eyes, "Not you too, Nici!" He said with mock hurt.
Both Nici and I laughed at him. The three of were just walking around now, looking at the sights. Going on a few rides, and, of course, getting more cotton candy.
"Look! Captain Justice." Nici squeaked, pointing at the 'Superhero'.
I looked to where she pointed, "Is he still helping those same ducks?" I asked in disbelief.
Ven shrugged, "Should we see if he needs any help with helping?"
"Duh...!" Nici replied as if the answer were obvious.
I scoffed, "Sass much, Nici?" I rolled my eyes, slightly smiling.
We, of course, had to go and help out. That's just what we did, helped people.
"Well, if it ain't the last kids Captain Justice saved. 'Fraid you'll have to get in line. I'm working on another catastrophe here for these fellahs- Huey, Dewey, and Louie." Captain Justice introduced the three ducklings, pointing to eachin turn. "My good friends."
The small mouse in an elegant pink dress spoke up, "Now, I'd hardly call it a catastrophe."
"Yeah," Huey agreed, "All we were tryin' to do was make our own special recipe ice-cream."
Dewey jumped up, "And we had a little trouble." He added.
"Come on," Louie stated, "It's not really that big a deal."
"I'm one hundred percent positive you're the victims of sabotage!" Captain Justice said, jumping to conclusions.
"I'm one hundred percent positive you just made that up..." I thought bitterly.
"Not even close!" Dewey argued, "Quit makin' stuff up!"
Nici nodded, " Yeah! Quit makin' stuff up!" She repeated, except she said it in a more quiet voice.
"It's just the ice-cream machine Uncle Scrooge left it for us." Louie explained. "But we can't figure out how it works 'cause it's so complicated."
Huey turned and faced the Fancy Mouse, "Aww, we're sorry Princess Minnie." He said sadly, "We wanted you to be the first to try our special recipe ice-cream."
Nici and I looked at each other, a surprised expression locked on her face. I bet my expression was fairly similar, too, to be honest. I mean, we were in the presence of a princess! A real one who wasn't in any kind of trouble! And, just like that, I was absolutely fascinated with Princess Minnie.
The Princess smiled sweetly at the ducklings, "Oh boys, it was very sweet of you to think of me."
"We tried." Louie said, lightly kicking the ground.
Nici gave a tiny smile, "At least you tri-"
"Say no more, Leave it to me." Captain Justice butted in, completely cutting off what Nici what saying.
I scoffed, "Hey, Captain Joke." I addressed him, "My friend here was speaking."
"Clam it, Kid. I'm working here." Captain J instructed. He turned back to face the face the machine, "One bowl of ice-cream comin' right up!"
"Does it look like I car-" I began heatedly saying something else to this Joke of a Hero, but I was cut off by Dewey... Which was probably for the best.
"You're just gonna make a mess. Leave it alone, Pete!" The small duck quacked.
Captain Justice stomped his foot in frustration, "That's Captain Justice!" He banged his fist on the ice-cream machine, "This machine is busted. It just needs a good poundin'..." He grunted, hitting the machine even harder.
"It does not!" Princess Minnie squeaked out defiantly, she has probably had enough of this guy, too.
Nici waggled her finger in disapproval, "That's not very nice..."
I nodded, hands on my hips, "Yeah, just leave the machi-"
"Do you think I could give it a shot?" Ventus inquired, he glanced over at me for a brief moment as if to apapologize for not letting me finish.
I just rolled my eyes, "Today must be 'National Cut Cyrah Off From Speaking' Day, or something!" I sarcastically thought to myself.
"No, if Captain Justice can't fix it, there ain't nothing you can do, Kid." Captain Justice mocked, pointing at Ven.
Ven took a few steps toward Captain J, "Maybe not, but there's no harm in trying."
"Yeah, I bet Ventus could definitely fix it for you." I smiled, agreeing with my friend.
Huey hopped up, "Yeah! And better him than Pete! Here ya go!" He handed Ven a strip of paper, "These are the instructions for the machine."
Ven took the instructions. He rubbed his chin, reading over the pamphlet, "Mhm..." he nodded his head, it looks like he was deep in thought.
"Ventus, it's an instruction manual, not some super secret code you need to decipher." I playfully teased.
Ventus looked at me with an oblivious expression, "What? What do you mean?" He cocked his head slightly to the side.
"Mhm..." Nici imitated the chin rubbing and thoughtful noises that Ven did moments earlier.
Ven blinked, "Heh, did I really do that?" He asked as a sheepish smile curled on his lips.
Nici nodded, "Uh-huh."
"Don't worry, Ven, it was cute." I laughed, giving him a thumbs up.
Ven's face became lightly tinged with pink, "Well, if you say so..." He looked back at the instructions, then glanced up at machine. "I think I might've found the problem..." He trailed off, going and messing around with a few things on the ice-cream maker.
"What is it?" I asked, looking over my friend's shoulder with curiosity.
" I think this should do it!" He smiled, turning it on. The machine jumped, a low rumbling sound erupted as ice-cream flew out in all directions.
"Uh-oh!" Nici gasped, going and hiding behind Princess Minnie, a scoop of ice-cream blitzing passed her head.
I stood there in shock, then burst out laughing at watching the creamy treat hit Captain Justice. Suddenly, I turned around to see a ball of ice-cream hurling towards me. I got ready to be hit, maybe even eat it!
"NO!" Ven cried out dramatically jumping in front of me, and getting hit instead. He fell to the ground with a 'THUD'.
I stared at my blonde friend, a wide smile made its way across my face, "Was all that really necessary?" I questioned, raising a brow, "I mean- Oh, Ventus! You're my hero!" I laughed, deciding to play along.
This caused both Ven and I to laugh even more, he reached out his arm, "Cyrah, go on without me! You must save the others from flying ice-cream..." Ven chuckled.
"Well, okay, C'ya, Ven!" I teased, slowly walking away... then getting hit on the side of my head with cream.
Ventus couldn't help but laugh, "You actually left me?!" He chuckled. He stood up and went back to the machine, cautiously. "But we really should fix this before anyone else hit."
I nodded, wiping it off my hair and following behind Ventus.
The both of us tried just playing around with some random things, but no matter what, ice-cream kept whizzing by. Then suddenly, it abruptly stopped and instead starting spitting it out directly onto the cones.
Ventus and I shared a satisfied look, "We did it!" Ven grinned.
"... Switch." Nici said, pointing to a switch. It wasn't Ventus or I who managed to turn off the machine, it was actually Nici who just flipped a switch! ... How she knew that would work, the world may never know...
Hewey, Dewey, and Louie all jumped up in pure joy, "You fixed it! Thanks!" They all said simultaneously. They made a nice vanilla cone for the Princess.
"Oh! How yummy. What a wonderful treat! I don't think I've ever had such delicious ice-cream." Minnie cooed, delicately nibbling on the treat.
I stared at the ice-cream in longing. Eating was my second favorite activity to do, right behind being with my friend. And by the way Minnie was describing just how great that creamy delicious treat was, was really making me hungry again.
The Royal Mouse smiled at us, "Thank you, uh, ah, oh dear..." she shook her head. It could be difficult to thank people, you know, when you don't their names.
"Oh, Ventus. Just Ven is fine." He introduced himself, rubbing the back of his neck.
I pointed to myself, "Cyrah. Just Cyrah."
Nici shyly smiled, holding onto the hem of Ven's shirt, "My name is Nici."
"Well, thank you Ventus, Cyrah, Nici." Minnie thanked, nodding at each of us in turn.
Huey quacked, "Way to go!"
"I see... we had to press the thingamajig the other way." Dewey pondered, examining the switch that Nici had flipped.
"I got an idea!" Louie piped up, "We could let our customers make their own favorite flavors of ice-cream!" He explained.
Captain J put his hands on his hips, "Not with that machine! Well... the kid mighta got it to work this one time." He sneered, getting glares from the three of us in return. "But junk like that needs to get junked!" He heaved up the machine with little to no effort.
"I know something else that could get junked." I growled, glaring at Pete.
"Don't you dare, Pete!" Came the shrill voice of the Princess.
Ventus took up a fighting stance, Keyblade at the ready.
Captain Justice set it down, "Fine. But Captain Justice will return!" He called over his shoulder as he scurried away, probably to 'help' somebody else.
"About 'Captain Justice'- you said his name is Pete?" Ventus asked, with a slightly confused tone of voice.
"Yeah, he's the biggest troublemaker in town! I bet he's just callin' Captain Justice 'cause he wants to win the Million Dreams Award." Louie said in a huff.
"Wait- What's the Million Dreams Award?" I asked. It sounds exciting!
"That's one of the Dream Festival Events. Everyone votes for who they think is the towns must exemplary citizen." Princess Minnie explained.
I nodded, "That sounds nice, it must be a real honor for whoever wins."
"Yeah," Ven agreed, "Oh... so that's what he meant by 'vote'."
I laughed, "I don't think anyone would vote for Pete, anyways. Oh! What is the prize for winning?"
"If you win the award, ya get a really cool prize!" Dewey said, waving around his arms for exaggeration.
Minnie lightly chuckled, "Oh! It's just a small token, nothing elaborate. The event is supposed to help us appreciate how much we all look out for each other everyday. That's the spirit of the award."
"Well, that sounds nice..." Ventus and Nici commented in unison.
"Pete just wants to get his grubby hands on the prize!" Louie stated in disapproval, "But nobody's fooled!"
Hewey and Dewey nodded in acknowledgement, "Yeah!"
"Well, I must go and prepare for the announcement of the winner." The Royal Mouse waved farewell and strode away, "I hope to see you there."
After that, the three of us stayed a while longer. Deciding to go on a few of the rides, eating a few treats, marvelling at the laboriously decorated streets of the Disney Castle. This was definitely a day to remember, and I was never going to forget it either.
"Citizens attending the Million Dreams Festival," A voice echoed throughout the streets from the intercom, "It is about time the winner of the Million Dreams Award!"
Nici instantly looked around, "Can we go, please?" She pleaded, looking at Ven and I with big, bulging eyes. "I wanna see the winner."
"Well..." I looked at Nici's face, and just couldn't resist! "Okay, let's go!"
I stood between Ventus and a strange cow with a red shirt and overalls. The stage before me was a light yellow color with a blue and yellow striped backdrop.
"Who do you think's gonna win this year's Million Dreams Award?" The Cow inquired, looking around him for a reply.
Chip, the small chipmunk spread out his arms, "Boy oh boy! I hope it's the guy I voted for!" He squeaked.
His brother, Dale, jumped up enthusiastically, "I voted for him, too!" He spoke up with his high pitched voice.
"Now that we got so much business at the shop, maybe we'll be number one!" Hewey said with a hopeful glint shining in his eyes.
Dewey hopped up a little bit, "Wow, Uncle Scrooge sure would be proud of us if we actually won!"
"Yeah, an I bet Uncle Donald would be pretty surprised, too!" Louie agreed.
"Wow," I said, "This award must be pretty special, ya know? I mean, look, its got everybody all hyped up."
Ventus nodded looking around, "I know right, I can't wait to find out who won."
Minnie and Daisy both calmly and politely padded to the center of the stage, "Hello, everyone, and thank you for waiting. Now, it's time to begin the main event of the Dream Festival- the Million Dreams Award presentation."
"Heh! Just skip to the part where you say my name. This is a shoo-in!" Pete grumbled in anticipation.
Minnie blinked in surprise at seeing the card with the winner's name on it, "Oh! How very exciting! This year we have multiple winners! The Million Dreams Award goes to... Ventus, Aqua, and Terra. All three of you!"
The clearing erupted into noisy celebrations and congratulations. Confetti exploded from the sky, the pieces of rainbow colored paper and sparkles spiraled from the sky like rain on a stormy day.
"Good job, Ven!" Nici quietly congratulated, her tiny voice getting drowned out by the celebratory cheering.
It took me a second to finally yank my attention away from the confetti long enough to turn to Ventus and give him a thumbs up, "Great going! You totally deserve this!"
From where I stood, it looked like Pete was throwing a fit about him not winning the prize. I couldn't hear him though over all the noise. I just watched as he got up on the stage and challenged the Princess. I wish could I hear what was going on!
A bunch of brooms in a formation type stance walked over to Pete and carried him off to another part of the town. I couldn't help but laugh, "Ven!" I said, trying to make my voice louder so he could hear, "Go up on stage!"
Ven looked at me, then at Minnie, who was gesturing for him to come up. He nodded, then grabbed my hand, too. I grabbed Nici and dragged her along with us.
The three of us eventually made our way through the swarming crowd and up to the stage. Ventus looked completely relaxed, not to mention a bit sheepish. I was feeling kind of awkward, I wasn't even supposed to be up here! And Nici, well, she was completely frozen in fear at all the watchful eyes on her.
"Oh dear," Minnie began, causing silence to befall upon the whole crowd in an instant, "it looks like our other two winners couldn't make it here to be with us today."
Ventus looked down, he was probably hoping he was going to see Terra here, "They both already left."
But I have to admit, I was kind of looking forward to seeing Aqua, too. It seems so long since I've seen either one of them. I took out my Wayfinder and squeezed it in my palm.
"Yes, well..." Minnie turned to Nici and I, "Why don't you two take their prize in honor of them?" She suggested.
Nici and I nodded.
Minnie handed us our prizes: Our very own ice-cream flavor. Ventus got a DoubleCrunch, Nici got the HoneyBunny, and I got a SparkLemon.
"Trythem!" The audience called, "What do they taste like?"
A looked at Nici and smiled brightly, at least she wasn't frozen anymore. I lightly blushed as I felt Ventus grab my hand. It felt good to be appreciated, and even better to enjoy this with my friends.
We smiled and each took a bite of our treat each in turn.
Woohoo! \(0.0)/
