Most of the time, he liked being a Zubat. Sure, his cave was overpopulated, although it seemed like all of them were, these days, and food could sometimes be hard to find. But compared to the other pokemon in Mount Moon, like Geodude or Clefairy, it seemed like a fairly nice way to live.

The only problem was that he wanted a trainer. Most Zubat did. Exploring the outside world appealed to a lot of pokemon, to be sure, as did testing their strength against exotic pokemon from across Kanto. And it would make it a lot easier to become a Golbat and gain eyesight and only by bonding with a human could a Zubat soar the skies as a Crobat, So whenever a trainer showed up, and didn't spray hideous chemicals on themselves to keep pokemon away, he'd fly down to test them

And invariably, they would run away, cursing the fact that they had run into yet another Zubat. And in those moments, he wished he was an Eevee or a Pikachu or a Clefairy or something else that trainers actually liked.

Then again, at least he didn't faint this way.
