How Sweet the Sound

Soundwave, silent and vigilant , watched as Starscream yelled again at his slaves for one had just tripped from exhaustion and dropped the fragile load she was carrying. Through all his ranting and yelling she kept her head down, passive and almost unalive.

Soundwave turned his attention back towards Starscream in time to hear him finish with, "And so, for your insolence you shall be severely punished!" then he leveled his arm blaster at her tiny form, kneeling on the ground with her head and shoulders slumped. "Any last words?" He asked with a grin so vile it made the other slaves nearby shiver and huddle even further together in the huge room.

Quietly, almst below the ability to hear she started, then grew louder with every verse,

"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

As she reached the next verse a mother and father walked forward, joining her in song with their little one, no older than four, between them who's voice glistened with perfection.

T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through to the next verse many others, young and old and of any race imaginable joined her, standing at her side and joining her in singing the most holy of melodies. Baffeled and confused Starscream couldn't even act as they sang, slowly lowering his weapon.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

Now all of her brothers and sisters in slavery were at her side, their souls at peace for what was surely to come as they begun the last verses.

When we've been here ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we've first begun.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see."

After they finished there was a long silence, no one spoke and they all looked to the floor, awaiting their fate. There was something in the very air itself that demanded a respectful stillness. It was Starscream who broke this silence as he moved pointing his gun back at them, all of them, and then he seemed to get a look of sorrow and maybe even apology. But such insolence and rebellion could now go unpunished. Sensing her end the first woman looked up for the first time in months, looking Starscream right in the eye and she smiled with tears in her eyes. It was then Soundwave realized that this had gone from punishment to relieving the weary of their suffering. Starscream fired, leaving no tace besides the scortch mark on the floor to signify anything at all had happened there. But Soundwave for the next years, every time he passed that spot on the floor he couldn't help but look, and feel something special had occurred there, something that would remain in his processor until he offlined.
