Ch. 12: Kitchinrokkuappu part 1
The scene shifts at a kitchen-looking classroom where Takuya and Izumi's class are there, as a cooking class is in progress where they are being taught on how to bake brownies and cakes, which appeared to be difficult at first due to the amount of ingredients are required to bring over, and it was quite a chore, as the class at first were looking forward to a fun-filled subject, only to regret it after seeing first-hand that baking is not as easy as they thought it would be.
"Man…"
"This is hard…"
"I didn't expect this…"
"And I thought this would be easy…"
"I think I regretted this…"
"Me too."
"Same here…"
"I hate cooking…"
Among those who whined is Takuya, as he felt that baking is a chore given the list of ingredients required to bring for tomorrow's class, and he felt that he should have skip this lesson, but Izumi sighed and told Takuya to get over it, saying that if he doesn't take this subject seriously he would be forced to repeat the subject in the next school year, and this only made him moan discreetly in annoyance.
Izumi whispered to him and urged him to put up with it and said that she is sure that baking will be a breeze once they get past the part where the ingredients are complete and are ready to do the baking part.
"Really?"
"Really."
"I don't know…"
"You can do it, Takuya."
"You sure have some fate in me, Izumi…"
"Of course."
"Still…"
"Be confident."
Likewise, Junpei appeared distressed at first, but he willed himself to endure the subject and tells Takuya that if they work together they might bake a very delicious brownies and he will be willing to share it with Takuya and Izumi, and there Takuya sighed in defeat and said that if they manage to successfully bake it he will share it with him and Izumi as long as the summer heat doesn't ROAST him.
Junpei chuckled and said that they can take a dip at the swimming gymnasium after classes, which he nodded and said that he would like that and hoped that this subject end for today so that he can think about going for a splash.
"Yeah."
"So what do you say?"
"Sure. After class we take a dip at the pool."
"Sure."
"Hope this boring class ends."
"Me too."
"I can't stand the heat…"
"Same here…"
The teacher then scolded Takuya and Junpei for not paying attention, and the two boys apologized for their behavior, and the teacher told the two boys to pay attention, stating that the upcoming baking will be crucial as the results will determine their tests, and both Takuya and Junpei stared in surprise upon hearing that the baking of the brownies would be considered an exam for this subject.
The teacher nodded and said that if the brownies they baked proved successful and delicious, depending on the taste, they would get a score ranging from passing to high, but if it tastes dismal, they would get a failing grade.
Takuya and Junpei stared wide-eyed at hearing this as they feel like the world crashed onto them.
"The baking of brownies…"
"As exams?"
"Yes. they will be your exams."
"…"
"…"
"If you managed to make it delicious…you pass. If the tastes sucked. You fail."
"No way…"
"This can't be…"
"Yes it is, you two."
Izumu sagged seeing that Takuya and Junpei looked like their souls were being yanked off from their bodies, and she whispered to the two boys to snap out of it saying that they need to pass this exam or else they would be in trouble if they fail.
Takuya and Junpei whined as they feel like they lost the will to live, but she urged them to pull themselves together and not give in to despair.
"Come on, you two!"
"…"
"…"
"Pull yourselves together!"
"I don't know…"
"I feel like dying…"
"Get your acts together, you wimps!"
"…"
"…"
After some prodding Takuya and Junpei nodded and promised that they will do whatever they could to pass the subject and make the most delicious brownies everyone would love, and will see to it that they would get the teacher's approval.
Izumi smiled seeing that the two boys are now determined and encouraged them to do their best and make sure that they won't get discouraged by the upcoming exam.
"You can do it, okay?"
"Okay."
"Okay."
"Trust me. I know you can pass!"
"Yeah."
"Yeah."
"So let's get to it!"
"Okay."
"Okay."

Later, at the Kanbara house, it shows that the Kanbara family went to their relatives and only Takuya stayed behind and the scene shows that he invited Izumi in practicing in baking a brownie and so far the results were satisfactory to a degree.
There Izumi tells Takuya that he should keep it up and believe that the teacher might give him and Junpei a passing score, which Takuya said he would aim higher than a passing score, which the 15-year old girl smiled seeing that Takuya has gotten his confidence back.
"Looks like you are aiming higher."
"I suppose…"
"Then I'm sure you'll pass."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"Okay. Let's practice."
"Okay."
"Now then…"
Izumi helped Takuya prepare the ingredients for the brownies, and they began to put them in place as they intend to bring them to class tomorrow where they will be baking them and are determined to make it as delicious as possible.
"All the ingredients are set."
"Good."
"We put them in the refrigerator so they won't spoil."
"Okay. That way they will be fresh and ready for baking tomorrow."
"Let's hope the teacher would be impressed."
"I'm sure he would be."
"Thanks, Izumi."
"Sure."
By then Takuya's cellphone rang, and upon answering it the caller turn out to be Junpei, and he tells him that the ingredients are ready and secured, and he will bring them tomorrow for the cooking exams, which Takuya nodded and said that everything is set and they are going to bake them and make it the most delicious brownies which Junpei agreed.
"So, Junpei…are we set?"
"Yeah!"
"Tomorrow we're gonna blow the joint!"
"Right! We bake the best brownies and get that passing score!"
"And we'll celebrate as well."
"Sounds good."
"Me too."
"Alright!"
Izumi smiled at hearing the confident discussion, and after some minutes, the call was called off and both Takuya and Izumi decided to go to bed as they have classes tomorrow, and Takuya offered to share his bed with her, which she accepted as they both head for the bedroom and Izumi wondered what his room would look like, and he said that she would like it.
"Really?"
"Yes, Izumi. Think of it as our future house as future husband and wife."
"You really sound confident."
"Sort of."
"Well then…let's get some rest."
"Right."
"But remember…"
"I know…"
The two teens entered Takuya's room, where they are now about to get some rest in preparation for tomorrow's cooking exam.
