Liz pressed her thumb to the head side of a coin and dropped it in the slot of the vending machine and pushed A-19. The door opened and she entered the lab, her bag full of samples she'd discreetly obtained from Cammie a few nights before. She took out the blood sample and began to set up a test. She planned to check for any anomalies, any chemicals which could have an effect on memory loss or anything which would show up as strange.
She was determined to get to the bottom of how Cammie had lost her memory of the last summer and she had vowed to do as much as possible to discover the cause - and, if possible, cure it. If Cammie could retrieve all her memories it would make the task of tracking down the leaders of the Circle of Cavan much easier.
Liz owed it to her country to run these tests, she told herself, as the clock read 02:18 behind her and she yawned. Cammie had tried to dissuade her from running these tests, so she took samples anyway while Cammie was sleeping. If she started to feel guilty, she would tell herself she was doing it for her country.
But in honesty, she was doing this for Cammie, not for the USA. Even if she couldn't recover the memories, Liz wanted to help stop the nightmares that plagued Cammie every night. She wanted Cammie to be able to sleep in peace and not go through the pain of reliving her lost summer in her subconscious whenever the sun went down.
Liz finished the blood test and studied the results. She couldn't see anything which would suggest that Cammie's condition was the result of any known or unknown chemicals which could induce memory loss.
She tested samples of Cammie's saliva and other things, but found no anomalies in anything. As the clock read 05:49, she knocked her results to the ground and sat down with her head on the desk.

"Liz? Are you okay?" Dr Fibs said, shaking Liz gently.
"Ugh," Liz groaned. "What time is it?" she asked, looking at the clock, which read 06:29.
"I think you should go to breakfast, Ms Sutton," said Fibs.
Liz nodded and, picking up her results, she left. She went quickly up to her room and freshened up, putting on a fresh uniform before she headed down to breakfast with Cammie, Bex and Macey.
"So, Liz. Where were you last night?" asked Bex.
"Oh, I was just working in the lab on something for advanced organic chemistry," said Liz, as casually as she could.
"Lizzie! You need to get some sleep. You always complete your assignments with way too much time to spare. You don't need to stay up all night to get them in." Cammie smiled.
"No more tonight, Liz. You need your beauty sleep," added Macey, with a look which she wore before accosting someone with a big bag of make-up she wished to apply to their face.
"Okay, okay! I'll sleep tonight, if that'll keep you happy."
"That's all we ask," said Bex as they sat down to eat their breakfast.
