Sayaka had always been there for him. When he was going through the tough times, she was there. When he was released from the hospital, she was there. When he got back to school, she was there. When he had Hitomi as his girlfriend, Sayaka congratulated him (and Hitomi).

When he was playing his piece, Ave Maria, he could feel Sayaka encouraging him from afar. They haven't met for days and yet he could feel her. Hitomi was there at the backstage, obviously bored with the classical music, but smiling emptily as she looked at him. That didn't bother him though.

His strokes even became more graceful as each note became a sign of his gratefulness to Sayaka, for always being there. A smile appeared on his lips as he felt Sayaka's gaze at him. It wasn't a creepy stare, in fact. It was a stare that not even him can describe. He loved it though.

As he finished his last vibrating stroke, he completely didn't feel the presence of Sayaka. His eyes opened and scanned the audience. He looked hard for a blue-haired girl smiling and clapping at the same time… but he couldn't find her there.

But when he made his first violin recital, she wasn't there.

"Sayaka…?" He softly said to himself as he looked again and again at the crowd. But no, she wasn't there.

"Kyosuke-kun! You have to bow!" Hitomi called him out gently. He did as what he was told. He bowed and walked back to the backstage.

"That was beautiful!" She beamed.

He nodded with a smile.

And she wasn't there for the rest of his life…

"Say, do you know where Sayaka is? I know I sent an invitation to her…" He looked up at the ceiling.

"No…" Hitomi replied as she looked down at the floor. "I don't…know."

"I see…"

When he got back home that late at night, he opened the TV to the news channel. He saw her. Her smiling face was there on the screen, with flowers decorated on her frame.

"This girl's body was found on an abandoned hotel. The police…" The news reporter's face, and voice became a blur to him.

Why? Why did she die? WHY?

"Sayaka…"

Why did you leave me?

Because she died.
