Rossi arrives first but Derek Morgan and Penelope Garcia are fast on his trail. "From what they're told me so far," Hotch explains to his restless friends "Spencer had a seizure. They're check to see if he has a history or if it's something that going to need looking into right now."
Garcia sits down on the uncomfortable hallway hospital chair. Rossi is pacing and Derek sits next to Garcia. "They think he will be awake soon and then he can explain what happened. He's going to be alright and that's half the battle right there," Hotch tries to encourage.
Inside he's just as scared as the rest of them. Would Spencer be okay? Was this going to affect him long term? Did that bastard have anything to do with this?
Prentiss and JJ come in next so Hotch discreetly fills them in. No sense is overloading the ones that had already heard. They're need their time to process it.
Eventually all of the members of the BAU were seated in those uncomfortable chairs. Garcia was asleep on Derek's shoulder. Rossi was flipping nervously through the magazines. Prentiss and JJ were on their phones. Morgan, like Hotch, was simply sitting and thinking about what was going on.
A doctor comes to them and asks specifically for Hotch. Hotch shoots everyone a look that tells them to stay and behave. The doctor takes his further into the hallway and speaks to him softly. "There's a lot of tearing at his anus. I'm beginning to think he was attacked before the seizure. Where did they say they found him?"
Hotch clears his throat. He doesn't want this doctor to think poorly of Spencer because of his job title. "Spencer is a member of the FBI. He's a paid consort" he answers honestly. "Ah, so the tearing may just be part of the job?" He asks. Hotch doesn't want to agree but he has to. "Is there something abnormal about it?" He asks.
"Just that it is extensive. He's very raw and beat up. We found semen in his hair and on his face. He bagged it just to make sure." Hotch nods. "We will have to wait for Spencer to wake up so that he can explain what happened. I can't give you a play-by-play with just the evidence on his body. I can say that he's got a crack on his head that's fresh and that could be what caused him to begin having seizures. Nothing in his medical paperwork explains it. He's never been seen for epilepsy before."
Hotch wouldn't put it past Thatcher. He grits his teeth and prays that Spencer wakes up soon.
Spencer wakes up in a hospital and the first thing he notices is that his head is throbbing like the bass is up too high. His body feels warm and fuzzy and the pain is just beyond the surface. What had happened to get him here? He digs his head further into the pillows to try and ease the headache away. The medication he was obviously on wasn't taking the god-awful pounding in his head away.
A nurse walks by and checks on him. "Oh!' She says when she sees that his eyes are open and he's moving around. She shuts the door just as quickly as she'd opened it and moments later comes back through with an older woman behind her. "Spencer, can you hear me?" She asks. Spencer barely nods his head. The pain is too much. "Are you in pain? Can you tell me where?" She asks.
"Head," he says softly. It burns coming out. "Your team is here and they want to talk to you. Are you up for that? If you're in too much pain we'll give you some more meds and let you go back to sleep. They don't mind waiting," she tells him.
Spencer closes his eyes. He doesn't want to make the team wait on him, but there was nothing he could do like this. The headache was killing him. "Hurts... too much... Please!" He says to her. The nurse refills his iv and the doctor coves him up.
"When you wake up press the call button. We'll get through this," she promises. He feels weak. He's letting everyone down but not going on there and confronting them but...
He closes his eyes. The pounding is beginning to secede and he's never felt more tired in his life."
By the next time he wakes up Hotch is in the room. Derek Morgan is beside him. They're discussing the pros and cons of Apple vs. Android. "Spencer, can you hear me?" Morgan asks. Spencer nods. He's groggy and trying to come to terms with what's happening around him.
"Calm down baby boy. Let your body catch up to your mind. It's just me and Hotch in here and nothing's going to happen to you." Spencer closes his eyes again an lets his body rest while his mind clears.
"Spencer, what's the last time you remember?" Hotch asks. Spencer thinks back. "The last thing I remember is making pizza bagels for breakfast. What happened?" He asks. They exchange glances. "You don't remember why you're in here?" Spencer shakes his head.
Hotch goes into the hallway to speak with the team. They're been warned that there was a chance Spencer wouldn't remember anything leading up to the moment. There was simply nothing they were going to be about to do without Spencer giving them anything.
