FINALLY AFTER MANY YEARS OF WAITING THE NEWEST CHAPTER HAS ARRIVED :D BEHOLD THE AWESOME POWER THAT IS... CHAPTER 6! Please forgive me for making it so late :(
The tiny mage in tow with the definition of ecstatic soon caught up with Kayle and Kevin. The older teen smirked at his friend. "Judging by the look on your face Kyle, things went well?" Nodding, Kyle summoned a ball of fire into his hand and stretched his hand out.
"Aint it purty? And... burney?" He said in mischievous voice. Kevin felt a drop of sweat trickle down the side of his head. He had forgotten how much of a pyro his friend really was and was positive that he'd be receiving a heated blast when he least expected it. "How did things go for you?" Kyle asked closing his hand attempting to make the fireball vanish.
"Well..." He glanced at Kayle and bit his tongue, before muttering "painful." Having enough, the winged warrior walked past them impatiently.
"Enough chit-chat, we have a job to do." Lux giggled, "It's gonna be fun, we can do this!"
"I would certainly hope so because the amount of complaints we have received is just plain annoying." Turning around, Kevin saw a floating TV screen with the Delatrass's face on the display. "Kayle, Lux, I hope you are ready to depart, for the time has come to travel to the Twisted Treeline and discover why that area isn't available at the moment. I have taken the liberty of having your packs equipped with potions, but be careful, if you die there is no guarantee you will respawn since the Twisted Treeline is down... not that I expect you to have a scratch on either of you. Kevin and Kyle," The two boys stood straight, at attention to their names being called. "You are to stick close to them and listen to every command they give you, are we understood."
Both boys nodded and said "Yes ma'am!" She nodded. "Good, you are all dismissed." The screen then vanished leaving the four of them.
"I don't know about the rest of you but I'm starting to feel jittery with excitement." Lux was jumping up and down while saying this, her smile beaming. Kayle nodded and put her helmet on, "I will admit that this mission will definitely be a breath of fresh air." The two champions then set out. The two summoners followed close behind, not wanting to get lost.
"I hate to ask this," Started Kevin, "But where exactly is the Twisted Treeline?" Kayle huffed in annoyance "Honestly, have you ever read the lore? I haven't time to explain to your foolish brain."
Lux smiled and fell behind to walk next to Kevin for a bit "Don't mind her, she's always such a sour meanie, but she's got a good heart." Kevin nodded and looked down. "Don't feel bad, let me fill you in. Our world is called Valoran. Right now, we are in the League of Legends, which is in the Institute of War, which lies in the heart of the main land of the world. We will be traveling to the Twisted Treeline on the Shadow Isles." Kevin nodded
"How far away is that?" The young mage put her finger against her chin and thought making a soft humming noise as she did so. "A few hundred miles from here give or take over the Conqueror's sea." Kyle deadpanned "How are we supposed to get there? It would take months on foot!"
Lux giggled "Don't be silly Kyle, of course we aren't going to walk there, we can just teleport to the Shadow Isles." Kyle looked down "Oh... right." The other boy looked at him, he had been thinking the same thing but was glad they wouldn't be walking the distance. Lux started to talk to Kyle about random stuff, asking each other questions to get to know each other better, while Kayle just floated ahead, using her wings rather than walking. He slipped to the back of the group and put his hood over his head putting distance between him and the group.
He looked down and sighed sadly. It took a while before Lux noticed. She turned to Kyle and asked, "What's wrong with your friend?" Kyle took a look behind him and frowned softly,
"Kevin has been depressed for a very long time now... it just seems to happen randomly where he gets like this. He puts his hood up and he doesn't talk to anyone... it kind of worries me every time." She frowned softly "What caused him to be like this?" Kyle shook his head shrugging. "It's best to ignore it, as hard as it sounds, because he always bounces back in a few hours but it takes longer if anyone pesters him."
Little did they both know that Kayle had been listening the whole time. "He's weak, there's nothing more too it." The duo looked up, shocked, but didn't say anything. Soon they approached a multitude of stone archways, each with a shimmering portal underneath. On the floor of each portal lied crests, some that Kyle recognized like Demacia's. Lux clapped her hand's together in delight.
"I see you've taken notice to the crests!" Kyle nodded, "If I'm right... and I usually am." He stated blatantly with a smug look "Each portal leads to the capital city or at least in the territory of the banner that it represents. So if we went into the portal with the Ionian crest we'd end up in Ionia or very near it." Kayle nodded nonchalantly.
"Good deduction is what I would say, but chimpanzee or a minion could have figured it out." Kyle's jaw dropped
"KAYLE!" Lux exclaimed in disbelief, "That's just mean..." She crossed her arms and pouted cutely. The winged warrior turned away from the group grumbling something about mediocrity and stupidity. She then landed on the ground and pushed her palm towards the portal with the emblem of the Shadow Isles on it and closed her eyes. After a brief moment she pulled her palm back and pushed it out again, this time a beam of energy striking the top of the stone gateway. As she continued to channel the strange energy an emerald light soon enveloped the markings on the gate slowly heading towards the crest.
As the crest lit up, the gate grew bright, and Kayle stopped channeling. "The portal is ready now. We have no more time for Chit chat as we have work to do." She took to the air again and passed through the gate, her body becoming translucent in the process. Kyle's eyes went wide and he put on a happy dorky smile, "YAY TELEPORTING!" He jumped through the portal making his own sound effects as he went through... well... it was more of cannonball, but to each his own.
Lux chuckled softly and awkwardly. "He may not like it so much after getting to the other side..." She turned towards the hooded teen. "Shall we get going? Wouldn't want to keep them waiting would we?" Kevin shrugged softly and walked through the portal confidently. Lux looked at him sadly as his body became translucent and clutched her heart softly. "He reminds me a lot of me... a few years back before I joined the league." She shook off the sadness and followed the rest of them through the portal.
IN THE REAL WORLD...
An older teen sighed and cracked his shoulders. He flipped on the lights to his room, returning light to the room that was previously somewhat illuminated by his PC monitor. Scratching his beard that he had so proudly grown (And affectionately called it his "Swag Mouth"), he kicked off his shoes and went to his PC. His room wasn't too messy, but he reminded himself that he needed to clean it later. He slammed down into his rotating chair and groaned. It was a long day at high school, and what was worse, his best friend hadn't shown up in the past couple of days so he was getting extremely worried and frustrated. Kyle didn't vanish like this, and if he did, he'd at least be on steam or on League of Legends to chat. He logged onto Steam and looked at Flamingpie SC2's profile which said "Offline for 2 days." As every minute passed by more and more red flags went off in his head. To a normal person offline for 2 days would be no big deal, but not Kyle. To date, the longest time he has been offline would be 11 hours for sleep.
What was really weird to him is that his other friend, Kevin, has been offline for about the same amount of time. He was so puzzled on to what was happening. It was then he knew what he had to do.
He grabbed a Mountain Dew and cracked it open, drinking half the can in one go.
"Oh yeah... that's better." Setting the can down, he heard a knock on the door. The teen grumbled and got up going to the door to answer it. A police officer stood at the entry way. "You Colin?" He asked in a gruff new jersey accent. The cop looked like he had one too many doughnut and had a mustache that looked like it belonged on one of those guys who you see in the papers that actually turned out to be a child molester. Colin nodded confused and raised an eyebrow at the cop.
"Have you seen these men?" Officer Doughnut-man reached into his front pocket with a grunt and procured two photographs that Colin recognized immediately. They were photographs of Kyle, and Kevin. "We are aware of your connection to them through a game called..." He looked through his notepad, "League...of...Leegendes?" The teen blinked. Apparently this officer was at a 2nd grade reading level as well.
"No I haven't seen them, I actually wonder where they are myself." The officer gruffed and wrote down his name and number. "Give us a call if yea hear anything. They have been missing for two days, both of their employers are concerned for their whereabouts." He then exited the doorways and wedged himself into his patrol car. Colin shook his head and went back inside to his computer. He looked at his screen to see Penta Stealer was online. He sent her a quick message that read "We have a problem..."
Serena was worried... not just regular worried, but SUPER worried. She bit down on her lip gently and checked her phone again. Even when he was depressed or at work, he NEVER left her hanging for this long. She scrolled through the list of text messages one more time to see if she missed something, but to no avail. The past 75 messages were all sent by her to her best friend who was the source of her worry. She even tried visiting his house, but he wasn't there either. It seems all traces of Kevin had vanished off the face of the earth as she knew it. The thing that made her SUPER worried was the fact that another of her friend vanished as well without a trace.
"OY Serena! The movie is finished, wanna clean that theater really quickly before you go?" She didn't hear him as she scrolled through her messages again, this time from Kyle to get any sort of hint. Her manager walked up to her and frowned softly. "Serena? Everything okay?" She looked up from her phone and shut it off seeing her manager.
"Uh yea... I'm fine..." He wasn't convinced, but decided to let it drop. He knew better than to try to press her for information. "Would you please clean up theater four before you clock out for the night?" She nodded and said thanks before setting off to do her task. She gathered her supplies and walked into the theater, and instantly groaned. There was popcorn... EVERYWHERE! The end credits rolled on screen playing the ending song to a movie, seemingly mocking her. She flipped the switch to the leaf blower and started to push all the popcorn into one place, the problem seemed to be, for every kernel that she got, fifty thousand more seemed to be waiting. After about 30 minutes of cleaning, (ten of those were attempting to get crushed popcorn off the floor) she finally finished.
"Good job today." A co worker praised as she walked by. That made her smile. She LOVED to be told that she did well. She clocked out and went into her car, going home for the night. Her Pontiac carried her home safe and sound but she once again made a side-trip to their houses to see if they were there. Once again... they weren't. Sighing sadly she beat her dog down, a pleasure she guilty partook in when he was being annoying, before heading to her bathroom and hopping into the shower. There was butter covering EVERY inch of her body and she hated it. It seemed like her dog and her best friend just licked her skin to annoy the crap out of her, reminding her that she had butter all over her after work, but at this point in time she would give anything for him to lick some butter off her arm just so she knew he was alright.
Not that she would ever admit that of course. She got out of the shower and got into her footie pajama's. Thankfully the computer was vacant cause she didn't feel like playing on her toaster (also known as her piece of crap laptop). Serena hopped on Steam, and almost instantly received a message from Colin whose user in this case was Hellzreaper. "We've got a problem" was what it said.
"What do you mean?" She replied confused.
"Kyle has been missing for a couple of days, and a cop just came to my door saying that they are now searching for him."
"Oh... :( yeah I'm a little worried."
"I was hoping you have heard something from them"
"Nope... "
"Have you heard anything from Kevin?"
"No... :("
"What do you think happened?"
"I don't know and I don't really wanna think about what might be happening... I just want them to be safe..."
"Yeah... I hear you there... wanna play a little bit of LoL to take our mind off of things for a bit?"
"Sure. I don't mind."
"Twisted Treeline is still down though... so no 3v3's"
Inwardly, Serena did a happy dance to this. She LOATHED 3v3's with a burning passion, yet no one but Kevin EVER seemed to realize that. She was too timid to tell people herself that she didn't wanna play them, and every time Kevin tried to tell them, it worked for about a week before they were back to doing 3v3's again.
"Oh... darn that's too bad, I know you and your brother like to do 3v3's. Can we do 5v5's instead then?"
"Sure, but I wanna do some ARAM too."
She paused for a minute then sighed. At least it wasn't a 3v3.
"Yeah sure that's fine."
"Meet you there then?"
"Steam Chat?"
"Yeah."
The ringing noise started to go off signaling she was being called. She clicked accept and put on her pair of Turtle Beach Earforce X12's on. "Hello." She chimed.
"Hey. You ready?" She nodded and said "Mmhmn" And with that, Colin invited her to their first ARAM of the day. She prayed though that she wouldn't be stuck with someone useless like poppy, or Aatrox... or worse of them all Singed...
The game started and right off the bat she got Poppy. "NO!" She falcon punched the reroll button and got Singed. "Why me?" Her final reroll she got Yasuo...
Her teamates got Nidalee, Urgot, Katarina, and Xerath. She shed a small tear. "I hate life so much right now." Her quote unquote friend laughed at her torment. This was going to be a LOOOOONG game.
BACK IN VALORAN
The first thing Lux saw when she emerged on the other side of the portal was vomit... and lots of it. Kayle for once looked a little sympathetic because she recalled the first time she ever teleported somewhere. Both Kevin and Kyle were hunched over bushes losing their lunches. Kayle then started to explain. "The first time someone teleports, their body isn't used to the sudden change in Temperature, pressure, humidity, elevation, ect. thus causing them to uncontrollably... vomit. Fortunately this effect is only present on the first time teleporting. Kevin, somehow, through all the vomit and tears managed to scream "SCREW TELEPORTING!" Lux went over and patted Kyle on the back. She was doing her best not to throw up after watching all of what he was losing.
The winged angel turned her back and left them in peace for a little bit, until they were both done. "We good?" She asked. Both teens, afraid to say anything, just nodded in response. "Good." She began to move forward down the path. Kevin wiped his mouth and followed, a little shakily at first being weak in the knees, but soon matched her pace. Lux patted Kyle's back and softly said
"It's ok... come on we should catch up before Kayle leaves us behind." The teen brushed his long hair out of the way and nodded, putting his hands in his pockets. As they progressed through the Shadow Isles, Kevin noticed that the dark land seemed to be almost rotting. The trees and bushes that were around were darkened and wilted, the path was beaten and worn down, but most of it all, was the sky which bore an oppressive and sinister look to it's gloomy cloudy grey, along with the few lightning strikes that randomly flashed.
The party could feel a source of power not far from where they were that felt out of control, and the closer that Kayle brought them to it, the more the lightning struck and the darker the sky got. Kevin felt a foreboding feeling of danger in his gut and tightened his fists. Kyle looked around nervously at the surroundings. The lady of luminosity kept her namesake, feeling the fear from the two teens, and created a tiny orb of light that radiated throughout the area. However small the gesture, it didn't go unnoticed by either of them.
"Thank you..." The hooded teen looked back at her and flashed her a small smile before looking back. Kyle stood up straight, regaining a little confidence as the fear inside his heart dispelled. "Oh FINALLY I can see." His smug looked manifested once more and he looked around. "So how close are we to the Twisted Treeline?" Kayle sighed in annoyance.
"The sooner you shut your mouth the sooner we will arrive." Luxxana chuckled and said "Well do you see how the sky keeps getting darker around us? That's a sign to outsiders that they are approaching the Fields of Justice for the Shadow Isles. Under law, people are not allowed to interfere with a match once one has started, so the constantly darkening sky serves as a warning to stay away."
Kyle grinned "And we are just gonna ignore this warning?" The tiny mage giggled "Well yes... I suppose we are."
"Breaking the rules already huh? I like it." Not even the stern Judicator could resist letting a small grin creep though, however she wouldn't be caught dead if she allowed one of them to see it.
"Just you wait Kyle..." Started Kevin taking down his hood, the fire within his eyes returning. "Just because you said that, something is gonna happen that we aren't going to like." However accusing his statement was, Kevin was smiling again. Kyle's grin grew even wider, knowing his friend snapped back from his depression.
"Taking all bets on what we are going to see once we get there. I bet 10$ it's a Legion of Super Minions out of control." Kevin grinned "20$ on a super Vile Maw" Even Lux was adding in now, "500 gold says it's every champion duplicate in the league fighting against each other."
To this Kyle and Kevin asked at the same time. "Champion duplicate?" She giggled "You didn't actually think we fought every battle did you? That would be impossible because there is only one of us, that's why the Champion Duplicates were created, to allow more summoners to summon us at a time." It made sense really, and answered so many questions.
"I will pay you each 300 gold if it's some peace and quiet..." Kayle said half jokingly. However, nothing could have prepared them for what the saw when they finally saw the Fields of Justice. In the lane was a multitude of Heimerdinger's and their turrets duking it out, a gigantic Barron, and 1000 caster minions on each side. They all stood there silently taking all in before Kyle broke the Silence.
"I feel like I'm lagging right now..." Kayle growled in anger, " You were so close to getting that 300 gold..."
REAL WORLD
"Okay I promise! This is gonna be the one where you get someone op on ARAM." Serena doubted Colin's statement VERY much. So far she had gotten Yasuo, Pantheon, Skarner, Darius, Sion and most recently Amumu, and went negative every game.
"Okay... last game though then I'm going to bed." Colin cheered into the mic loudly and started the que, which almost instantly got matched up. What she saw next though, she couldn't believe. She got, for a random pick, the Maven of the Strings, Sona. "YES! FINALLY!" She got so hyped up wondering what of her various builds she should use, when someone sent her a trade request wanting to trade her Sona, for a Tryndamere. "But... But... noooo..." She typed in the chat. "Sorry I really wanna play Sona this game :/" Before the person replied,
"Fuck you, stupid noob. I quit! Have fun with your report and ban kid, hope you spent lots of money on that account!" Then they got returned to the Que because someone left during champion select. Now Serena has put up with a lot of crap in her life, even the constant emotional abuse from Kevin's depressed state, but this... this pushed her over her limit. And for the first time in her entire life, she said "Fuck it! I'm done!" Without another word, she logged out of Steam and of League of Legends, shut down the computer and went to her room angry. She jumped into her bed and groaned loudly.
"I hate people! They are so obnoxiously rude in every case. Why cant people just be nice? This is stupid! This is so stupid!" She finally calmed down after a few minutes and looked at a photo of her, Colin, Kyle, and Kevin at Kyle's birthday party. She smiled softly looking at it. "I hope they are alright..." She then tucked herself in and fell asleep.
Colin sat at his computer stunned at what he had just heard. Part of him was a little shocked, but the other part of him was proud. Smiling, he logged off and leaned back in his chair "That was worth it... that was soooo totally worth it. That's what she gets for stealing my pentakill 3 times..." He looked at the clock, and it read 3:32 AM. Shaking his head he got up and flipped off his lights. "Time to sleep I guess." he said to no one in particular. Before he let sleep wash over him, his thoughts turned to his missing friends. "If you guys aren't alright, I will beat the living shit out of you..." And With that he fell asleep.
That Should keep you guys satisfied for a little while :D I promise updates will come a lot more often now since I now have the time and energy to go do this. :3 Have fun.
