Hey guys! Sorry I haven't updated in the last couple of months. Junior year has dug its claws in me and is holding on tight. I'm on Thanksgiving Break, so hopefully I will be able to update a few more times. But anyways, I hope you enjoy this chapter! And trust me, you will have questions and be in for a shock.

Chapter 57

Bella POV

One, two, three, four…one, two, three, four…one, two, three, four…one, two, three, four…

Step down, up, side, jump…step down, up, side, jump…spin twice and fall to the ground…

And…repeat.

"That is the most ridiculous dance routine that I have ever done," I say, taking a swig of water. Some of it spills onto my chin and then down my neck. It's cooling.

"Correction. That is the most ridiculous dance routine that we have ever done," Aidan groans from the floor.

"Are you still on the floor?" I ask, turning to Aidan. He's laying flat on his back as if he is going to try and make a snow angel. His palms are facing the ceiling and his face is scrunched up. His red shirt is halfway up his stomach and his pants are low on his hips. His hat, weirdly enough, is on the other side of the room.

"Those kids are crazy. Way to crazy," he continues to groan. He sits up before laying back down again.

"Well, they were all two years old. There comes the terrible twos and the happiness. It's all so exhilarating," I giggle out. Visions of miniature Pauls run in front of me, chasing each other and laughing.

"Are you thinking of having kids already? I will flee the city."

"No, I am not thinking of having kids now. When the time comes, Paul and I will talk about it. When we do have kids, you will be the godfather," I laugh.

"You wouldn't." Aiden sounds shocked, sitting up. He narrows his eyes at me as he rests his arms on his knees. I smirk slightly, giggling.

"Oh, yes I would. You're one of my best friends, and you would be a great godfather!"

"I am going to be the best godfather! Teach them to ride motorcycles, take drugs, become anarchists. I will be a great role model," he says, standing up and giving me a hug.

"I know you will, and I know Paul will be a great father too," I say, hugging him back. I squeal as he picks me up and spins me around in a few circles.

"Aidan!" I laugh out. When he stops spinning and sets me down, I'm extremely dizzy. I walk around some to try and get my bearings when I crash into something. Actually, I crash into someone.

"Mr. Adams? What are you doing here? Have you heard any more news? You were just here yesterday!" I exclaim, taking a step back from him. Mr. Adams works with Paul Lahote Senior, and he promised to give me updates about the army progress every couple of days. Sometimes he just stops by to see how I'm doing. He's very helpful, actually.

"Bella, a letter came in the mail for you early this morning. Your uncle told me to go and give it to you," Mr. Adams replies. He seems very controlled as he takes a step back from me.

He extends the letter to me, waiting. I stare at it, unblinking. Taking a deep breath, I take the letter from him. My hand shakes uncontrollably as I try to open the letter. I cut my finger, and I wince.

"What is going on?" Aidan asks, walking up behind me. He lays his hands on my shoulders and squeezes them.

"It's, um, it's a letter. A letter that arrived early this morning. That can only mean one thing, Aidan. He-he could be de-dead. He-he can't die. He can't die!" I cry out, turning to face Aidan.

"Hey, hey. Bella. Bella, calm down. Isabella!" Aidan yells, grabbing my shoulders. He shakes me, trying to snap me out of my panic. I stop crying and look at him.

"It can also mean that he is alive. He is alive and healthy and he is coming home to you. You will get married and have beautiful children and I will be an amazing godfather. Everything is going to be okay. All you have to do is open this letter and read those words. Paul is coming home. Paul is coming home to you," Aidan ends in a whisper, his thumbs wiping away the tears.

"Okay," I nod. I step away, taking deep breathes. I turn around to see Mr. Adams. He is still controlled as ever.

My hands are steady this time as I open the letter.

Dear Miss. Swan,

Soldier Paul Lahote Junior was in an explosion on November 15th, 2014. He was rescued and was in critical condition when he was pulled out of some rubble. He was immediately brought to the army hospital and put into the ICU where he is still currently recovering. He will be discharged with honors and sent home to La Push immediately after he is more stable.

He's safe.

Can you connect the dots and figure out what happens next?
