Just a little swan Queen drabble. Toyed with the idea of turning this into something more but didn't want to mess with it anymore. Let me know what you guys think :D

"Things will never be simple for us, will they?"

Regina smiled sadly into blonde curls as she brushed them from her lovers' face with a tender hand. "No, my love; I'm afraid not,"

Emma sighed and burrowed closer, burying her face in her neck. "I thought you'd say that," she mumbled, her mouth flush against her skin.

Her breath hitched at the contact, though she managed to hide it with a deep-throated chuckle. "Things are rarely easy for people like me," she began, her mood growing somber. "It's the universes way of reminding us that we don't deserve whatever happiness we've found,"

Emma sat up and gray eyes met dark ones with concern highlighting their silvery depths. "Hey," she said, her voice soft. "Everyone deserves to be happy," she began, leaning in to press a chaste but no less expressive kiss to her lips. "Especially you,"

Regina smiled shakily, the corners of her mouth wavering with the force of the tears she was holding back. Gods, she loved this woman, her savior, her white knight. The only one who could see through the darkness of her past to the light long buried within her heart.

Emma offered her another smile before resettling against her body. "Night, Regina," she murmured.

Regina smoothed her hair once more, fingers trailing lightly down her bare arm before settling on her hip. "Goodnight, my love," she whispered, pressing a final kiss to her crown before leaning back into her pillow.

Maybe it won't ever be simple. She thought idly as her eyelids drifted closed. But I wouldn't change a thing.
