notes: MY FIRST KUROKO NO BASUKE FIC, HAHA, THIS IS FLUFF, PLEASE DON'T KILL ME.
"Kagami-kun?"
"Yeah, Tetsuya?"
"I think I've made my decision."
"What would that be?"
"We should adopt all of them."
"….No."
Kuroko looked up at Kagami, a slight frown on his face. If Kagami hadn't known Kuroko for as long as he had—nine years, really—he would have missed the dejected look in the shorter man's eyes. "Why not?"
Kagami found it amazing how Kuroko could still speak without trouble, despite the fact that he was sitting crisscross on the floor, with children all over him. One was sitting in his lap, he was carrying two in his arms and three of them had latched onto his shoulders and the top of his head.
"Don't you ever get tired of children?" Kagami asked, exasperated. Kuroko was, after all, a kindergarten teacher—which Kagami couldn't understand in itself, as a fireman—and was around kids all day.
"No," Kuroko answered, his tone perplexed. "Why on earth would that ever happen?"
Kagami's eyebrows scrunched together and he and Kuroko had a staring contest for a few moments (or perhaps, they were undressing each other with their eyes).
"Tetsuya, we're not adopting them all."
"Please give me a good reason as to why, Kagami-kun." The polite way of saying his name, despite how long they had been together, only had Kagami scowl harder.
"Because. I said so."
Kuroko looked even more flabbergasted. "Is it because you'd feel left out, maybe?"
"NO THAT'S NOT IT WHY WOULD YOU THINK THAT."
"There is no need to shout Kagami-kun. Besides, I'm sure you will be able to find activities to bond with them over as well."
"Like what? And why would we need so many of these runts?"
"…." There was a light to Kuroko's eyes—a light that didn't usually appear in the shadow's eyes. "You could form a basketball team."
Kagami blinked down at him.
"And teach them."
He blinked some more.
"They'll be very good basketball players if they learn from the best." The last input of flattery had Kagami completely cave and he sighed, picking up one of the boys from off of Kuroko's shoulder. He stared at the green-eyed runt, who giggled and pulled at the red spikes of his hair.
"All right. On one condition."
Kuroko cocked his head, silently questioning.
"Stop calling me Kagami-kun."
"You prefer Kagami-san?"
"ARGH, never mind, let's go find the person in charge of the adoptions of these runts."
