Dark eyes that had seen all kinds of nightmares and miracles alike turned from the window where snow continued to cascade down upon California. He could actually go outside today for there was no sign of sunlight, but he preferred to stay inside. He preferred to stay with her, whose beauty he now gazed again upon as she stared at her computer screen. She was more golden than any sun. He'd seen all kinds of things over the years, but he'd never seen anything more beautiful, or held anything with more cherish, than he held his Cordelia to his heart.

He remembered another time trapped inside himself when his self who knew no limits had dared to catch her scent. As much as he hated him, Angelus had more guts than he'd ever have. But today, with snow falling, seemed to be a day for miracles. Angel dared come closer.

Gathering all his courage to him, he bent and sniffed her hair. Cordy didn't jump; she moved instead just enough to look up at him with a little grin. Both shivered with delight. Angel's dead heart gave a leap of faith. A miracle had happened: she wouldn't run from him.
