AN: Hey guys! Sorry, been away, this is the first time I've had an internet connection. So, enjoy the chapter.

We have Morgana in this chapter... and if you wear rose-tinted glasses, there is a hint of Mergana. Not much, but maybe.

Please remember to review! Thank you!

"I don't want to stay here overnight," were the first words Merlin heard when he next awoke, and they sounded furious and enraged. "I want to find McLaggen and kill him."

Harry had obviously just woken up, and was outraged by what had happened at the Quidditch match. It was the evening, late by the way the sun cast shadows throughout the ward.

He was struggling and trying to get out of bed, with Madam Pomfrey pushing him back down and raising her wand in a threatening manner to stop him.

"I'm afraid that would come under the heading of 'over-exertion'," Madam Pomfrey huffed firmly, eyes flashing. "You will stay here until I discharge you, Potter, or I shall call the Headmaster – and that goes for you too young man!" she added quickly, as Merlin had silently been slipping out of bed and creeping towards the door. "Get back into that bed, right now!"

Merlin placed his hands in the air in a gesture of surrender, feeling a little bit intimidated, and inched back towards the bed, where Madam Pomfrey forced him back under the covers and pointed her wand at the hospital wing doors, locking them, before bustling back into her office. Merlin snuck a look at the doors, knowing that he could unlock them without a thought, but he didn't want to risk being mauled by Madam Pomfrey's wrath. Harry sank back into his pillows, fuming while Merlin studied his hands.

"D'you know how much we lost by?" Harry asked Merlin through clenched teeth.

"I do," Ron said apologetically, shifting in bed.

"Go on then, give me the news."

"Final score was three hundred and twenty to sixty."

"Brilliant!" Harry growled savagely. "Really brilliant. When I get hold of McLaggen –"

"You don't want to get hold of him; he's the size of a troll!" Ron exclaimed unhappily. "Personally, I think there's a lot to be said for hexing him with that toenail thing of the Prince's."

"Anyway, the rest of the team probably would've dealt with him before you get out of here," Merlin added, shaking his head and sighing.

"What do you mean?" Harry questioned, still angry.

"They looked horrified when you got hit," Merlin said, before adding, "I think I saw Ginny punch McLaggen out of the corner of my eye."

Merlin was pleased to see that Harry looked very satisfied about that, while Ron roared with laugher when they mentioned Luna's 'Loser's Lurgy'. Ron then said that Ginny came to visit after the match had ended, and Harry looked even more pleased, but then Ron said that Ginny had mentioned Harry arriving just in time for the match.

"Oh…" Harry said, looking uncomfortably. "Yeah… well, I saw Malfoy sneaking off with a couple of girls and…"

Merlin listened to Harry's story but subconsciously tugged at his telepathic connection with Aithusa, hoping she'd reply.

Merlin?

Aithusa! He shouted. Finally! Where in the name of the Old Religion were you today?

Following Malfoy, Aithusa replied, confused. Where else would I be? You told me to follow him.

Oh yes? Well, where was he then?

Down at the Quidditch match!

Merlin growled. Oh really? Because Harry's telling me right now that he saw Malfoy sneaking away from the stands with a couple of girls, and that he skipped the match, and that he skipped the last one!

Aithusa immediately replied, Not possible.

Great, now Harry's telling us that Malfoy repeatedly disappears off the Marauder's map.

The Marauder's map – oh, that map thing that allows Harry to see where everybody is? Malfoy goes missing off of that? Interesting.

Aithusa, if you have been lying to me…

I haven't! she insisted. I follow him! I follow orders! I do!

If I don't see you at least five metres close to Malfoy next time I see him, you shall lose your repute in the magical world. Am I understood? He demanded angrily.

Understood, Aithusa whispered back, before disconnecting the link.

Merlin turned to Harry. "Harry, you're absolutely sure that Malfoy has been disappearing off of the map?" he questioned, deathly serious.

Harry stared at him, his eyes burning, before replying confidently. "Yes."

"And he doesn't just go out of sight for a second?" Merlin demanded. "He vanishes for long periods of time?"

"Definitely," Harry nodded. "Hours at a time."

Merlin banished that remainders of Aithusa's link and quickly drew up another one. This one was more difficult and more exhausting, but he found the line after a moment. Morgana?

Merlin! Morgana greeted him pleasantly, sounding surprised. Well this is a surprise. Enjoying the Modern World?

When I can make sense of it.

What can I do for you?

I need to speak with you.

Where should I meet you? Morgana asked, suddenly serious.

How long can you visit the mortal world?

An hour or two.

The Hogwarts Astronomy Tower, at midnight? Merlin suggested.

Morgana sighed. Agreed. What is this about? It can't just be about Voldemort attacking Avalon…

No, it's about Draco Malfoy. I need your help. He is apparently vanishing from the school for hours at a time most days. He cannot Apparate outside of the school and I doubt he even can Apparate yet. I need your help find him, possibly see what he's been doing.

It will be dangerous, Morgana warned him.

Danger? Ha! I laugh in the face of danger! Merlin teased her. Very like somebody I know well, who used to constantly challenge me.

Well, I didn't know it was you at the time, Morgana protested. I thought I was challenging Arthur, Gwen and you, not Emrys.

Ah, Morgana, don't underestimate your enemies. See you at midnight.

"Merlin?" Ron asked, looking worried, and when Merlin blinked, disconnecting the link, he saw that both Harry and Ron were gazing at him. "Are you okay? We've been shouting at you for like, five minutes, and you haven't responded."

"Sorry, I was talking to Morgana," Merlin muttered, kicking the covers, annoyed. If the boys were suspicious they hid it well.

"What about?" Ron questioned curiously.

"Stuff," Merlin retorted shortly.

Harry raised an eyebrow. "Stuff?"

"Specifically Malfoy's little vanishing acts. I was also speaking to Aithusa about him."

"Oh," Harry grimaced, realising. "Aithusa… you asked her to keep an eye on Malfoy, didn't you?"

"Yes, and she insists she is following him everywhere," Merlin snarled. "But how come he is able to sneak away and she doesn't notice? The only conclusion I can come up with is that she is neglecting her duty, and for that she needs to be punished. I've let her off with a warning, but next time I will degrade her." He rubbed his eyes. "What time is it?"

Ron checked his watch. "It's nearly nine o'clock."

"Fantastic," Merlin muttered, as he swung his legs out of bed and redressed quickly in his casual wear of brown trousers, red shirt and Camelot cape. He quickly checked Excalibur before sheathing the sword.

"Where are you going? Madam Pomfrey will hex you on the spot if you try and leave!" Ron hissed.

"I have to speak to Morgana. I'll be gone for a few hours, be back by three in the morning by the latest."

"Pomfrey's going to kill you."

"That would be tremendously ambitious of her," Merlin answered flatly.

Harry looked serious. "She'll knock you unconscious and tie you to the bed."

"I'd like to see her try. I'm going to talk to Snape for a minute or two; cover for me, will you?"

Before Ron and Harry even had time to reply, Merlin had teleported himself out of the hospital wing and into the DADA Professor's office, where Snape jumped up and brandished his wand threateningly, shooting a stunning spell his way which Merlin quickly deflected before disarming him. The warlock shot him a cheeky grin before teleporting behind the professor, causing Snape to wheel around in frustration, only to turn back around when Merlin teleported back to his original spot.

"You cannot just…. Appear in my office without my permission!" Snape fumed, outraged.

"Yes I can," Merlin said cheerfully. "Who's stopping me?"

"What do you want?" Snape asked angrily, ignoring the question.

"I want to know where Malfoy disappears off to, but I already know that you have no idea either," Merlin hummed. "What I want, and what I need is a different matter."

"Fine then," Snape snapped, black eyes flashing furiously. "What do you need, Emrys?"

"I need you to make sure that no staff or students go up to the Astronomy Tower tonight," Merlin said seriously.

"What are you planning?" the professor hissed.

"If I told you, you would have to stop me," Merlin replied simply.

Snape hesitated, before questioning, "This is about Malfoy, is it not?"

"Yes, it is," Merlin admitted. "And I promise no harm will come to him and I will do what I can to keep him safe."

"Very well," Snape said stiffly. "I will do as you ask."

"Great!" Merlin beamed, grinning and shooting a 'thumbs up' at him. "Thanks, Professor! You won't regret it! Or maybe you will, but we'll find out sooner or later, or actually in a few hours time when it actually happens – you know what, never mind. Thank you!"

He waited there for an hour or two, simply sitting looking out over the horizon. The moon was bright and shone valiantly down onto Hogwarts, casting a silver hue over the Hogwarts grounds. A few hares were bounding over the hills near Hagrid's cabin, their fur glowing, and through the trees a small group of deer were visible. There was the sudden sound of thousands of tiny beating bird wings and then Morgana was standing there, looking at him solemnly.

"Emrys," she greeted him, with a lilted smile.

"Morgana," he greeted her back, rising to his feet. "You look well."

"As well as one can look, being dead," Morgana chuckled.

"Your sense of humour has improved, I see," Merlin teased.

Morgana smirked at him.

"And there it is," Merlin sighed. "The evil smirk. I lived with that for ten years, and it never gets old."

Morgana smiled warmly at him before flicking a strand of raven hair behind her ear and saying, "We'll need to get on. I can only leave Avalon for an hour."

"Of course," Merlin agreed instantly. "Should I initiate the connection, or will you?"

"Me, naturally," Morgana grinned, crossing her arms. "I've always been more advanced at telepathy than you. I pride myself on that fact."

Then her eyes flashed gold and she closed them, standing stock-still for a moment or two, and Merlin waited patiently for her to gain her ground before taking both of her hands and holding them tightly.

"Where is Malfoy?" he asked seriously.

"He's not in the Slytherin Common Room, I know that," Morgana murmured, frowning. "Where -? Ah. I've found him. Or rather, I've found Aithusa."

"Where is she?" he demanded. If she was neglecting her duty…

"Hey, relax, Mr Dragonlord," Morgana soothed him, squeezing his hands but still keeping her eyes shut. "She's standing in a corridor… outside a large wooden door – I think it's in –" Then her expression turned to one of confusion and horror. "But – how –"

"Morgana?" Merlin questioned urgently, his heart pounding. His concern leaked into his voice. "What is it? What do you see?"

"The door vanished. It was there and now it's gone. Aithusa is frustrated. She's looking for a way in. Merlin, contact her."

Merlin quickly called up his connection. Aithusa, I am with Morgana and we are tracking Malfoy. You are in a corridor and a door just vanished in front of you. What's happening?

He heard a sigh of relief. Merlin, thank Albion. Malfoy's gone into a room and now I can't get in. The door's gone. This is the place he vanishes too. I don't think it's on the Marauder's Map.

"She says it's the place Malfoy vanishes too. It's not the on the Marauder's Map. Explains how Harry can't track him. Morgana, can you get any deeper?"

"No. There's magic not allowing me to see in. I'm blocked."

Merlin scowled in annoyance, but then he lit up in realisation. This was a perfect opportunity to try and get the memory from Slughorn. With Morgana with him, she could enter his mind easily and drag the memory out to transfer it.

"Morgana," he said calmly. "Thank you. We're done with Malfoy. Now find a man called Horace Slughorn. He is the Hogwarts Potions professor."

There was a heartbeat then Morgana made a triumphant sound. "Yes, I have him. He is sleeping in his office."

"There's a memory, a hidden memory. It could possibly aid us in allowing you to return to the Modern World. I need you to try and find it. It has a boy called Tom Riddle in it, and it is about Horcruxes. We just need to know how much information Slughorn gave him. This could be very important."

"How important?"

"This could allow you and Arthur to return."

"Alright then… I'm going in."

There was silence but Merlin could feel the sheer effort Morgana was putting into her search as she rooted about in Slughorn's memories, trying to find that one real memory. Morgana kept on squeezing his hands every few seconds or so to reassure Merlin that she was fine, she was okay and she was safe.

Then suddenly she cried out and slumped to the floor.

Merlin caught her effortlessly and shook her desperately. "Morgana?!" he shouted, terrified and concerned. "Morgana, can you hear me?" He laid her down and took her head in his hands. "Morgana!"

A weak hand swatted him away and Merlin heaved a sigh of relief, hugging her to his body. Morgana weakly hugged back.

"What happened? Are you okay?" Merlin questioned worriedly, checking her over. "Was it Voldemort? Did he try and get you again?"

"No, it wasn't him," Morgana reassured him while giving a small smile. "I was forced out. Slughorn must have sensed me and evicted me from his mind. It was just unexpected. I am not hurt."

"So that's a no on the memory?" Merlin asked, disappointed.

"I'm sorry," Morgana said, pulling him in for a hug.

After they embraced, Merlin stood and helped Morgana to her feet, that disappointment and worry fading away to just contentment. He felt happy to see her again, happy that she was happy too.

"Well this is a surprise," came a snide voice from the stairs.

Merlin wheeled around, placing himself in front of Morgana just as the witch cast a powerful shield around both of them. The witch and warlock fell into their battle positions easily and readily, prepared for the intruder.

"There's no need to attack," Snape said, rising and coming forwards. "I mean you no harm, my Lady."

Morgana snarled. "Stay back or you'll receive a smiting."

"Morgana," Merlin said softly. "It's okay. He's an ally."

She finally relaxed out of her position, but she was still on guard as Morgana appraised Professor Snape with her green eyes narrowed. Snape looked between the two of them and Merlin's close position to her and raised an eyebrow.

"And there was the whole wizarding community thinking that the Great Merlin and witch Morgana were mortal enemies," he snarked.

"We are. Was. Were," Merlin said, frustrated. "What are you doing here, Professor? I distinctly remember telling you that I did not wish to be disturbed tonight."

"You asked me to ensure no students or staff came to the Tower tonight. I did. You never requested for me to stay away. I became curious," Snape informed him, still staring at Morgana.

Merlin glared at him, his position still slightly hostile. "I thought it was obvious. Leave. Now."

Morgana sighed. "There's no need for that, Merlin. We were finished anyway. I'll see you again soon." She reached up and planted a quick kiss on the side of his cheek, blushing, before she vanished into thin air.

Merlin glowered at Snape for a moment, before storming past and shoving past him to the stairs. "Next time, stay out of my business."

"If it concerns my students, then it is always my business," Snape said calmly, following him down the stairs.

"No. You don't get involved," Merlin told him harshly and coldly. "You stay away when I tell you to. My life is none of your concern, and you cannot control what I do or whom I deal with."

"This meeting was about Malfoy, wasn't it?" Snape growled.

Merlin stopped and turned around, his eyes glowing threateningly. "Do you want me to hex you? Because I will."

"You are aware that I made an Unbreakable Vow detailing that I would do whatever was in my power to protect Draco."

"Yes, I am fully aware," Merlin snarled as they came to an empty dark corridor and he strode down it, his magic guiding him. "And you have done everything in your power. Now is the time to step back and let me take over. I know what I'm doing."

"Is that what you told King Arthur when he died on that lakeshore?"

Merlin halted and his magic burned inside of him. It slashed at his body, tearing him apart, ravenous to attack the man who dared argue with him. Slowly, he turned around, and he knew his eyes were shining bright amber as a low dragon growl erupted from his chest.

"Be cautious, Severus Snape. You do not want to make me angry."

"I did not intent to make you angry. I was merely asking whether or not –"

"You are walking on a fine line and you know of my power. I have hurt you once, and do not want to hurt you again. But step over that line and speak ill of my King once more and I will not hesitate to strike you."

"What's going on here?"

McGonagall appeared in her velvet green dressing down, long grey hair flowing down her back. She had her wand in hand and was approaching the pair warily, sending careful glances to both Snape and Merlin.

"Nothing," Merlin told her, gritting his teeth, still glaring at Snape. "Just having a friendly little chat, weren't we, Professor?"

"About what?" McGonagall questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"About my Defence classes," Snape answered smoothly. "I was requesting for Merlin to perhaps help demonstrate a duel to my Sixth Year class."

"I said I'd be delighted," Merlin added on, casting a grim look upon McGonagall and a forced smile.

"At midnight in a Fourth Floor corridor?" McGonagall asked, her eyebrow still raised, a Leoht ball of light held in her hand. "Last I saw of you, Mr Emrys, you were in the hospital wing being charged to sleep overnight."

"I fancied a walk," Merlin said flatly.

"Well I suppose I shall escort you back to the hospital wing then," McGonagall said. "Goodnight, Severus."

She led Merlin down the corridor away from Snape, and Merlin was still bristling furiously by the time that Snape had long since vanished from view. He just wished the double agent would listen to him and stay away from his business without sticking that long crooked nose into everything Merlin did and prodding those Merlin cared about. McGonagall finally turned to him, her eyes wise and old and calm.

"You need to be more careful, Merlin," she said. "Antagonising Severus will get you nowhere in this school."

"He's the one antagonising me," Merlin replied, annoyed. "Next time you see him, tell him to stick his nose into somebody else's business. I have work to do and his interruptions and intrusions are making it hard to concentrate on my tasks and get them done."

"What did he do?" McGonagall questioned curiously.

Merlin stopped, debating over in his head whether or not he should inform the transfiguration professor what he had been doing with Morgana. At his silence, McGonagall obviously thought she had said something wrong.

"I did not mean to pry. You do not have to –"

"Morgana," Merlin finally said shortly. "She – we were talking on the Astronomy Tower, about some important things. Snape interrupted us, after I asked him not to let anybody intrude on us. We didn't appreciate it."

"Ah," McGonagall said softly. "That is a different matter entirely. I believe he must have been curious."

"That's what he said."

"Did you happen to mention you were going to speak to Morgana?"

"Wha – no, why would I need to?" Merlin questioned, confused. "It was private business!"

"Perhaps you should have told him."

"Told him? Why would I have told him?"

"Professor Snape is not completely irrational. I'm sure that if you had told him what you were doing and who were with, he would not have interrupted your date."

Merlin stopped short, shocked. "My what?" Merlin spluttered.

"Your date, with Morgana," McGonagall prompted.

"Are you winding me up?" Merlin spluttered. "Because I swear, we were not doing anything other than talking."

"I'm sure," McGonagall said, looking amused. "I am very pleased for the both of you. Might we expect a happy announcement by the end of the week?"

Merlin didn't get the chance to reply because they had arrived at the hospital wing, where Madam Pomfrey was waiting outside the door, tapping her foot impatiently and glowering at Merlin as soon as he came around the corner into sight. The warlock flinched back slightly and accepted the cuff around his head before being shoved into bed and practically tied down as Madam Pomfrey tucked the sheets in tightly under the mattress so he couldn't escape.

Merlin tried to turn under the sheets to curl up, but couldn't, so laid there until sleep claimed him.

AN: Haha. Did you like that? We will have more Morgana now they have the telepathic connection up and running. And I did tell you McGonagall ships Mergana.

Please review! I wanted to get up to 200, but we didn't... so 205 and I will update as soon as I can. Thank you!
