He's watching her.
Again.
Long, pastel pink hair sways hypnotically with her every movement. Pale, porcelain skin glimmers faintly in the sunlight.
And she shines.
She's facing away from him, talking with her blonde best friend. They're laughing, the other girl's teal eyes glittering with humor.
And the pink-haired beauty's voice fills the air, the tone of a bird about to sing, of a breeze flowing through wind chimes, of a lone flute in the mountain air.
"Oh come on, Ino, you know he'd never notice me!"
He knows she's talking about his brother, who happens to be her teammate. His heart is strangling itself in his chest, the beats erratic and strained.
Then she turns, hair swinging out behind her like a wide cerise ribbon, and her emerald eyes scorch his soul.
He has to bite his lip to prevent himself from leaping from his perch and confessing on the spot. The grip of his hands on the tree's bark leave dents in the wood and splinters in his palms, but he doesn't care anymore.
Because Sakura is in love with his brother, and Itachi doesn't know what to do anymore.
