Silent Stars

Takao smiled and ran up to the boy sitting on the grass. Crouching down to ruffle his hair, Takao smiled again and inquired,

"Where have you been all this time? We were worried about you." Kuroko's eyes shifted from the night sky to look at Takao, and answered with a question.

"By we, do you mean you? Or do you mean there were actually others who remembered me?" The smile melted off Takao's face and he sat down by Kuroko.

"Don't be like that. You know your team cares for you." Kuroko buried his head in his knees and kept quiet. Takao stared at him, and then turned his head to the sky. You chose a nice spot to sit down for the night. "You really were remembered, Kuroko. They looked a lot for you. You're very important to them." After a pause, he continued. "You're the night sky to them, Kuroko. In order for those stars to stand out, they must have a dark sky backing them up. And without that sky, those stars can't be seen."

"Well," Kuroko began to speak, "To me, they are the sun. The sun is not present when the night sky shows. The night sky is not present when the sun shows." "It can't be seen. They have no need for each other."

"Well then, I'll be that star that needs the night sky!" Takao fell onto his back and looked to Kuroko. "That way, you'll never be alone!" Smiling, he tugged on Kuroko's shirt, causing him to lie down besides Takao. "You and I will be the night. We'll be the night that doesn't need the bright sun and its blue sky."

"…..Yeah, that would be nice."

We'll laugh at the bright sun

Grabbing for attention in his ever changing sky

And the silent stars will sing of their love

To the fascinating dark night sky

Cradling them in his delicate arms.
