Hello again:

Since there are actually a lot of people responding to the new chapter I decided to give you another one. Hopefully I'll manage to find my way into the feel of the story again. We'll see wont we?

Anyway to those who wonder why naruto has to go back to learn the basics: first of all to have a better chance for me to spend time with Ino. Second comes that in my eyes Naruto mostly gets lucky when he fights other people. Kabuto, Kiba, Mizuki, Neji. They all dont take him seriously and lose in the end. Combine that with a portion of luck and you can be fooled that Naruto is really strong.
Also he never plans any fight in advance or uses his Jutsu to full extend. Think about what kind of traps and tactics are possible if you use clones. Those things are taught a the academy.

Best example is Sakura in the forest of death. She uses traps and basics and get along for a little time just by that.

Now imagine what Naruto could do if he knew those basics and build on them.
Es Naruto is strong, but to become stronger he does not need a power boost like most authors give him, but rather has to learn how to get most of the power he already has. I take every bet that he would not need anything else but shadow clones, rasengan a few explosive notes and a plan to take on for fighting people like Zabusa and Haku.

Because what a lot of people forget in a lot of fanfiction is, that there has to be no straight fight. They are Ninja. In the end all that matters is who is alive after the fight. Straight fights are only ssen so often because Naruto always bashes forward without thinking. That's why I had him relearn the basics.

Anyway I wanted to share a few plan for the story with you. Though there is no real plan, as I like to just write what comes to my mind, there is a outline of what I want for this story.

It will be AU as I already mentioned. Canon sucks and if I just wanted to "correct" the mistakes of the canon story I could leave that to other and better writers. I think what makes my story good are my own ideas. Some more original then other, some less.

First of all there is the Kyuubi and the relationship between it, Ino and Naruto. Kyuubi is a highly interesting character. That goes for any fanfiction as well as canon. The multiple ways its pictured by each author always makes me think about the possible details that people feel about a character. Now its my turn to create a version of the Naruto universe.

The relationship between Ino and Naruto will progress. Hopefully not as predictable as lots of other stories. Sadly their IS a kind of fixed storyline for relationships. For example you can't avoid the first fight, the first sex and other parts of relationships. There will be little new as romance IS one of the most written about subjects. I'll try to bring at least a few things into it that you haven't seen to often.

Same goes for Inos parents and Iruka and Anko. I will take a little more focus on that sometime in the story.(The "big brother/sister = adoptive parents" theme is something important for me, because I actually know how it if a sibling and their significant other take care, because the real parents can't)

Sasuke is a character I hate in canon, just as Sakura. However I'll show them in a different way hopefully.

Also I love Yugito Nii and the Nibi. She will have a part of importance in this. Even if I use her just to make the workings between Naruto and Ino more complicated. I have something special in my for Yugito-chan.

I'll play with the age of the characters. I think 12-15 is a little young. Lets start with 15 and go from there.
There will be no ten-tails, no Human creating the tailed beasts as I just can't see that happening. Sure as hell no super power sharringan. NO way in hell. Neither will Naruto become godlike.

Also no giant war. Ninja don't work like that. It takes a lot of what made me like Naruto from the fights and story.
What made Naruto special for me is the fact that a few individuals fighting each other can decided the fate of nation. Also it makes the confrontation more interesting. If I tell you that 10.000 ninja die in one day you wont blink with an eye because you don't know them. . If one of your beloved characters dies after a highly personal battle or is about to enter one, it makes for a more interesting read because you can see the reasons, the struggle and all the small details that lead to the fight.

Actually I could go on like this for hours and fill all my chapters so far with just how many scattered details, scenes and ideas for the story are flying around my mind. I don't think you would like that though.

So why don't we go on and see how Inos mom and Naruto get along...

Inzumi Yamanaka was a proud woman.
She was a civilian that could use chakra to an excellent degree, was the wife to a clan head of Knohagakure and the only civilian that was allowed to actually have a say in who could pass as an Ninja suitable for battle. That was due to her being the only psychiatrist in the village understanding the mind of Ninja and if needed able to enter it, if the subject was trying to fool her.

Over the years she had gathered a lot experience when it came to dealing with the sometimes eccentric personalities that were born from the special way of spending life in the duty of Konoha´s forces. She had an important position in the hospital and was a proud mother. No matter how strained the ties to her child were she was still proud of her Ino. The fact that she had her husband keep track of their girl despite the heavy fighting and the hurtsome words shared between them was proof for that.

However that did not mean she agreed with her child´s decisions. For one she had never wanted Ino to become a kunoichi. Another of these decisions of her daughter was the trust the girl spent into one Naruto Uzumaki. The boy that now sat before her was a thorn in Izumis happy world. He had indirectly taken friends from her, a Hokage and was a terrible troublemaker and danger if angered too much, from what she had seen of him.

And the worst of it the boy had gotten very close to her little girl. Something she could not understand or even come to terms with. She loathed the instructions of Inos new teacher and was quite aware exactly how close the two teens had gotten.

Oh she understood the boys behavior far better than most other people, afterall that was her line of work, but there was more to it than one thought. For one there were the pranks, the brigh clothes and the loud attitude. That was expected from a child. Either that or growing quite and broody like the Uchia boy had become.
But the boys behavior in battle and the reports she had of him, medical records as well as disscriptions from his teammates and "friends" (a term she used loosely) led her to belief that he had split personalities, something which she knew was incredibly dangerous in a Ninja.

Combine that with the fact he also had a age old powerful demon inside him, was a chakra powerhouse for his young age and seemed to pick up anything, if the right teachers were giving him attention and you had a far more explosive combination than the Uchia boy could ever hope to become.
A fighter with power like that would have been a blessing, given he had a stable mind on his head, but just that was what had Izumi concerned about him being close to Ino.

A child growing up as Naruto had, could. Not. Be. Stable. And no matter how relaxed he was around her girl, no matter how kind and forgiving or how passionate he revered the village he lived in there still was no way easing Izumis mind about the boy and the danger he presented.

However up until now she never had had the chance to actually prove any of her theories about Naruto Uzumaki. The Check ups had always been with other doctors and never had he been in a situation that would have been considered traumatic to the trained mind of a Ninja.
Now however he had been in such a situation and had to sit with her and let her analyze him. And just before they had started the ANBU had to tell her about his outburst about the fox shutting up.
For Izumi that was a dangerous thing of the boys mind falling to pieces, or worse the fox actually influencing him.
Neither scenario suited well with her and so she made it her mission to make sure Naruto Uzumaki was in top mental condition, or would´ve been locked away before the month was over.
With that in mind she decided to start the conversation and begin with the standard questions till she found something worth to dig in deeper.

Facing the boy who seemed to have sensed her weariness of him, if the stance he was sitting in was any indicator, the middle aged woman tried to be friendly to him and act like a professional. Maybe he just did not trust adults too much and that was the reason for his defiant stance. It was a possibility she had to keep in mind

"Hello Uzumaki-san." she began. "First of all I am doctor Yamanaka."

The boy did not reply. In fact he did seem very distracted at the moment. Izumi made a note to herself.

"Uzumaki-san..." But before she could continue he interrupted her.

"It's Naruto. Nobody who knows me calls me Uzumaki-san. And you need to know me, afterall you want to decide if I am crazy or not."

His behavior towards her calling him by his name let him seem much younger than he actually was. Almost like a petulant child. In the end it was not completely unexpected Izumi guessed.

"Very well then, Naruto. How are you doing?"

"Fine, if you ignore the fact that my friend is a traitor and tried to kill me, or that there is a fox sealed inside my belly. Or that people are worried about me going crazy."

His sarcasm WAS unexpected. The reports did not mention that he was prone to something like using irony or sarcasm.

"So Lady, why don't you just cut the pretending you like me to a minimum and ask your questions?"

Becoming hostile. A sign that the boy felt cornered or threatened. Well for someone who's live turned largely around being a Ninja this evaluation could be considered a threat. Izumi decided to please the boy and play along.

"Fine. The lets start. Please recall your last mission and your feelings during it. Also while we are at it, please tell me about anything related to the Kyuubi no kitsune. As you can imagine we are quite concerned about the impact the mission and everything belonging to it had on your mind and possibly the seal."

And so began the next two hour of Naruto explaining to the older Yamanaka what she had asked. Every few minutes the woman would ask him a question on a detail or another. Also she made sure to place a lot of unrelated questions here and there and eased him to relax and let his guard down. During the whole time she noticed how he got distracted every once in a while like he was having a conversation with himself in his mind.

That was her main concern so far. Her other findings had surprisingly all been inside the parameters that were considered natural and normal. He was certainly a damaged child in a lot of ways, but her fears of him being out of his mind or how much of a danger he was, had not been confirmed.

However she was concerned about his tick to space out. That was nothing she could explain. She had found out that a lot of his unexpected changes could be traced back to the changes in his life in the past months. Only this tick could not.

Anyway, after the report the ANBU had given her before she was quite certain that Naruto was indeed able to communicate with the Kyuubi in some way or another. He had been quite evasive when it came to talking about the demon inside him and she now suspected that it handn't been just because he did not like to talk about the subject to anybody.

"Naruto, you mentioned that during your fight with Sasuke, he was using his curse mark and that as a counter to it you used the chakra of the Kyuubi. How strong did you rely on it. Please answer honstely."

The boy shifted his eyes away from her piercing gaze when she looked at him. Despite his unease about the question he told her.

"I used a lot. Didn't have much of my own left after that bone guys and that strange Jutsu dome of the large guy."

Izumi saw how much he was afraid to admit that part, so she decided to ease his mind a bit. He was after all a young boy, and the woman did not want to be unnecessary harsh on him. So far he had made a good impression on her, despite her earlier bias against him.

"Don't worry Naruto. Whether your use of the demon was out of line or not is not my place to decided. It is Tsunade-samas decision. I just want to make sure your mind did not suffer from it. Now tell me please how much did You use exactly?"

"It already formed a kind of cloak around me at the end. But I swear the fox did not make me do anything."

The slight panic in his voice was picked on by the psychiatrist without a blink. She now knew that something had changed from the massive use of chakra now. Concluding what she knew so far she made a educated guess what it was. Not missing a second she went in for the kill.

"But it tried to or is still trying, isn't it?" she asked and saw him flinch as he noticed his slip. Suddenly the boy began to ramble to himself.

"No,no, no. Now everybody will find out. They'll think its taking over. They'll want lock me away..."

"Naruto, please stay calm. No one is blaming you. It's not unheard of that jinchuuriki can talk to their demon. In fact Kumo is proud of its demon vessels being able to do just that. I just want to find out if you need help. " she tried to calm the panic fueled rant of the blond boy.

She may not like the boy too much, but the look of fear and panic she had seen in his eyes in the last moments made her reconsider a few things she thought about the boy. She would still do her job and see if the fox was a threat and how much it influenced Naruto, but she hadn't had to make him suffer.

"Now please Naruto, calm down. Then we'll talk about what happened and what we can do about it ok?"

A small nod and then the boy began to tell her about the whisper he had heard since his battle with Sasuke and how it had grown stronger over the days till today it finally became the voice of the Kyuubi talking inside his head.

Izumi listened to him as he tried to explain , partly to himself, how the seal could be able to allow something like that. Unlike Naruto, she did not understand half of the theory as he told about seals and their workings. However it all boiled down to Narutos believe that the forth Hokage had wanted him to use the Kyuubis power to protect Konoha.

Interestingly the way the boy explained the workings of the seal, as much as he knew so far at least, mad strange sense to her. To fully understand the Kyuubis power, Naruto had to understand the fox. If only to control it. Naruto mused that the fox being able to talk to him was one way to learn something about it. The problem was that Naruto did not know if there was a way to block the fox out and he could only guess.

Ino mother took a few minutes to think about what the boy had said and what she could do about it. She really did not want to use the clan jutsu as it was taught to only use it on an ally if there was no other way. Also she did not like the thought of being inside Narutos mind with the Kyuubi.

However she also knew that there was little else she could do at the moment. She had to know how much of a threat the fox was and the only way to do anything about it was to enter Narutos mind, even at the risk of being harmed.

The boy seemed to suspect what she was thinking about. Not surprising at all as Izumi was a Yamanaka and every Ninja in the village knew about their abilities.

"You want to go inside my mind, don't ya Lady?" he asked her as if the thought of her inside his mind didn't appeal to him at all.

"It's a possibility. Not the only one but the easiest one." she told him. "Of course if the fox can listen to us it would be of no use at all. He can't do that, can he Naruto?"

"I don't know." Naruto told her in an unsure voice.. " So far it has just talked to me about things that go on with my body. I don't think it's listening at my conversations. Just trying to talk to me."

"Well in any case I won't enter your mind today. The idea of being trapped with the Kyuubi inside does not suit me well." she saw his relief in the blue orbs he had for eyes.

"Uhm, but you will try, wont you?" he asked.

"If you want me to give you a pass for your mental status I have to." she stated to him. " However, I will do so only with the Hokage´s permission and with another mind-healer inside the room."

"I don't like it." he told her. "My mind is the last place I want anyone to be in." the boy huffed.

"I do understand that Naruto. But remember this is for your safety just as much as for that of the village."

"Fine, but don't expect the fox to be nice. So far it has been nothing but an angry, annoying and rude furrball."

Izumi had to smile at that. Only this boy could call the scariest demon she could think of annoying.

"Okay, then lets meet tomorrow evening for your final check up. By that time I'll have everything prepared and will send an messenger to get you."

"Alright."

They both stood up and she could the Narutos discomfort for the whole situation. In a strange way she wanted to console the boy, but she just couldn't bring herself to do that.

Leaving her office a few seconds after they boy she saw something Izumi had not expected. There in front of her, was her very own daughter hugging the boy she had spent the last hours with, asking him how it went. Naruto his own arms around Ino in an awkward way, still they both looked every bit like a young couple of lovers.

Being the mother of the blond girl she was not prepared for that sight at all. Even with the information she had gathered about her daughter after the girl had ran away, she had not expected exactly how close the two of them were.

Despite the surprise she saw a way to solve two problems at the same time. First she would try and mend the relationship with her daughter by making the first step and second she would make the exam the next day a little easier for Naruto.

"Ino" she called the girl which looked up from Narutos neck to face her. A little surprise and shock came to her face. "I see you are doing good, even if you are away from home."

A flash of anger crossed the girls face for a moment before Izumi continued.

"Naruto here has an appointment with me tomorrow evening. Maybe it would be better and more comfortable for him if you were there too. It will be quite taxing for him and he needs someone to bring him home. As far as I understand you two are living together."

"Yes Mother."

Ah so she wasn't "Mom" anymore. Well nothing she could do about that at the moment. I pained her a bit but things would get alright again. Of that Izumi was certain.

"Good then. Now leave. I'm sure Naruto is exhausted from all my questions. See you tomorrow."

And with that the older Yamanaka turned around and got back to her office. Watching from her window she saw Naruto leave the hospital a few minutes later. Her daughter hanging on the boys arm talking to him.

"At least they look good together. Inoichi will get quite the shock when I tell him." she mused to herself. Then she went and started to prepare Narutos coming mental exam.
