Chapter 11: Morning

Natasha smiled as she felt a pair of strong arms wrap themselves around her waist as she finished doing her hair for the day. She leaned back against her husband as he placed his chin on her shoulder. The assassin turned spy was thankful to have the man that she loved back with her and their daughter, safe and sound.

"So, should we get her up or let her sleep?" Clint asked, looking at the reflection of his beautiful wife.

She smiled as she looked into the small bedroom where their teenaged daughter slept, completely exhausted from the prior day's event. Natasha knew that as tired as Anastasia was, she had to get up and move around or she would be hurting for days afterward.

"Wake her up, otherwise we'll have a sore and cranky teen when Thor leaves tomorrow." Natasha replied, smiling.

Clint chuckled, his mind going back to when she would sleep for two or three days straight after a major competition and wake up sore from not using muscles. The archer's grin then turned into a twisted smirk at the thought of Loki being on a plane with at tired and hurting Anastasia. The rouge Asgardian would never stand a chance.

"Yeah, I suppose you're right…I'll get her up, Phil will be here before too long anyway…He was pretty worried about her last night." Clint said, sounding concerned.

"I know…she did better than I thought though…There was a time when I thought Anya was going throw Loki from plane at 20,000 feet up…Rogers and Stark had to pull her off him." Natasha told him. Clint grinned with pride at that thought, earning a smack from Natasha.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Both avengers already knew who it was. Coulson.

"That's probably Phil." Natasha said, setting down her comb and turning to kiss her husband before walking away.

"Yeah, I'll get the sleeping dragon up…not that she will be happy with that." Clint teased. Natasha laughed as she walked over to the door.

While Natasha let the older agent in, Clint walked over to the bed and sat down on the edge next to his red headed daughter. He smiled when he seen the serene look on her face.

"Hey, baby hawk, time to get up." He said, gently tucking a stray curl back behind her ear.

The teen made a quiet noise of protest as she curled into the blanket and pillow. She did not want to get up.

"No, it's too early." She replied, not wanting to move.

Clint laughed as he gently began to rub circles in her back, trying to coax her from beneath the blanket. He was careful enough to avoid the injection spots on her back from the cortisone shot she had the night before.

"Yes, today we are going to Starks while Fury deals with Loki…maybe you can call up your friends that live in New York to make sure they're alright." Clint said, causing her to peak up at him.

"Alright, is Uncle Phil coming with us?" Anastasia asked, looking at him. "Probably, you know that he is probably the only agent capable of handling all of us avengers." Clint teased.

The youngest avenger smiled as she sat up and stretched, before hugging her father. She a lot to be thankful for.

"Morning daddy." She said, placing her head on Clint's shoulder. "Morning baby, sleep well." He asked, as she lifted her head to look at him. "Yeah, sorry about Gabby, I had no idea she was going to call that early." She said, causing him to laugh. "Its fine, I was more worried about your reaction to what she said." He replied.

Meanwhile, Natasha opened the door to let Coulson in. She smiled when she seen the older agent's warm smile. He had become a father figure to her and Clint when they first joined S.H.I.E.L.D. and ever since then.

"Morning Natasha." Phil said, as he walked into the room. "Morning, Phil." Natasha replied, closing the door.

"Morning Clint, Anya." He said, smiling at his goddaughter.

"Morning Phil, so did Nat tell you about our possible problem yet?" He said, causing the two red heads to freeze.

"No, what sort of problem?" He asked, noticing how stiff Anya was, "Anastasia?"

The young agent took a deep breath, trying not to be upset but the thought of losing her medals and wins was maddening.

"The Olympic team seen the news yesterday and Gabby called at like 5 this morning, asking me if I had seen the news because there were people that looked me, mama and daddy fighting yesterday." She replied, fear laced into her words.

Coulson sighed when he heard her. That was the only problem that he and Fury did not plan out. Like Toney, Anastasia was a celebrity and was known worldwide for her southern charm and long, curly red hair.

"What did you tell her?" Coulson asked, causing his goddaughter to smile.

"I told her that I was with dad where he was "working" and that I had to go." Anya replied, causing him to nod. "Good, don't worry, try not to wear your hair in a high pony tail in public and I think we will be good." Coulson told her, half-jokingly. "Yeah right…I may have to dye my hair." She replied.

"No you won't, we'll make sure things will be alright…but for today, you need to stay away from the cameras until things die down." Natasha replied.

The young Olympian nodded, still worried about what would happened if the press did find out. She did not want to be the cause for her friends to lose their win for team finals.

Coulson could see the fear in her eyes and felt bad because he knew how hard she worked to get those wins and medals. He was not going to allow them to take them.

"Hey, don't worry about this, Fury, Hill and I will make sure that you keep the medals. We all know how hard you worked for them." Coulson said, causing her to smile softly.

"Promise?" Anastasia asked, looking up at him. "I swear." Coulson vowed, making her visibly relax.

"Why don't you get you stuff so you can get dressed and ready to eat." Natasha said, as she rose to her feet and stretched.

Suddenly, a loud crack echoed throughout the room and made the four cringe when they heard it. Coulson, Clint and Natasha did because they have heard bones crack before and knew when it hurt. Anastasia cringed because it hurt like mad and wasn't expecting it.

"Ouch...that hurt." Anastasia whimpered, cringing in pain. "I bet it did…" Clint replied, watching her limp over to the wardrobe that held her clothes.

She pulled out a short white floral print dress with spaghetti straps. Under the skirt was a layer of tulle which gave the skirt an added volume and bounce. She also brought out a belt that was leather and covered in rhinestone. Next she pulled out a faded jean jacket with rhinestones going around the border of the collar and the sleeves. There was also the design of a rose on the back against the Confederate flag, covered with rhinestones. Finally, she pulled out a pair of black heeled cowgirl boots with a cross carved into the leather and colored purple and metallic silver tread. The outfit fit the southern belle perfectly.

She disappeared into the bathroom and began to start her day. She pulled out a spray can of hair spray, two large curling irons and a small box of hair things. She plugged them in and began to brush her long red hair out.

Meanwhile, Clint, Natasha and Coulson began to talk about what to do about the situation they were in. He knew that if the press found out, his goddaughter would have to appear before the Olympic Committee and explain to them why she was fighting in New York. The consequences would be that she would lose her title as All- around Champion and all of her medals.

"She's really panicking, isn't she?" Coulson asked, looking at the bathroom door.

"Yeah, she sat slap up with a look that said "Oh my gosh, how am I going to explain this?"" Clint replied, remembering how he was woken up.

The older agent sighed, not sure how to help. He knew that the cameras had most likely gotten a good look at her face. It was only a matter of time before people started to ask questions.

"I'll talk to Fury, see what he says…he may be able to help with this…hell if anyone knows how to be a superhero and celebrity, its Stark…may be he could come up with something." Coulson replied.

Natasha scoffed, not really liking what that potential outcome would be. Her daughter did not need to learn how to misbehave in front of the press.

"As long as he does not teach her how to misbehave for the cameras…Tony would only get her into trouble." Natasha said, remembering the last time she saw Tony in the press.

"We have time, don't worry." Coulson replied, trying to calm the two agents' fears about their daughter.

Just then, the bathroom door opened to reveal a much happier looking Anastasia. She had curled her long red locks and pulled her top layer of hair into a sparkling clip that was shaped like a flower vine. She had neural colored make up on that made her baby blues stand out. Around her neck was a golden cross with a diamond in the center that Clint and Natasha gave her for Christmas and diamond earrings Phil gave her for her 16th birthday.

Coulson smiled because before him was the teen that he picked up not even 48 hours ago. She looked like she could take on an army and then tell them bless your heart all with a smile on her face.

"So, you're going all out today?" Clint teased, as she walked over to them.

She smiled brightly at her father and nodded. Of all people he should have known that she was going to.

"Did you think otherwise?" Anya replied, her southern accent thick. "Actually yes. I was half expecting you to wear those mossy creek sweat pants, hoodie and camo crocs." Clint replied, causing her to laugh. "It was a thought." She grinned.

Anya placed her old cloths into the duffle and put it back in the wardrobe in the room. She could only imagine what the others we going to say about her style of dress.

"Well sounds like Stark is going to have plenty of comments about the boots." Coulson smirked as the foursome got ready to go. "Probably." Anastasia replied, grabbing her bedazzled phone case and putting it on her phone.

They all left the room, smiling as if nothing bad had happened the day before. The next question made Coulson laugh.

"Hey, Uncle Phil, can I drive Lola later?" She asked, making the older agent snort. "Absolutely not, Missy." He said, "You are not old enough."

The group finally arrived at the mess hall where they found the others talking among themselves. Just then, Steve got quiet when he seen the group approaching the table. Thor and Bruce got quiet as well when they had seen Anastasia.

"Wow." Steve said softly, noticing the group. "I'm with you...I did not expect that." Bruce replied, seeing the young agent approaching.

Thor looked up and smiled, having talked with her the night before. He remembered that did like wearing dresses whenever she got the chance.

"I think she looks nice...it suits her." Thor said, as Tony snorted. "Agreed, though, I didn't know Scarlett O'Hara was a red head." Tony smirked, making Steve chuckle.

"Hey y'all." Anya said, walking over. "Morning Anastasia, feeling better?" Steve replied, earning a smile from the girl. "Much better." Anastasia smiled, looking at him. "She's wearing heels, Cap…like her mother, Anastasia practically wears heels all the time." Clint teased.

"I'm surprised you even let her anywhere near this place, Barton." A voice said, making the girl grin brightly. "Yeah, well you'll have to talk to your partner...he was the one who picked her up two days ago, Melly." Clint smirked.

Suddenly, all the others watched as Clint was mercilessly tossed into the floor by the new figure. Anya, Natasha and Coulson all were very amused, slightly laughing as she twisted his shooting arm behind him.

"Don't you ever call me that, again, Barton." She smirked back earning a groan of pain in reply. "Gotta Melly." He grinned through the pain.

"Who is she?" Tony asked, looking at Anastasia. "My godmother, Agent Melinda May...her, Uncle Phil, mama and daddy were Strike Team Delta before I was born...surprised you didn't know that, Stark." She replied, "she is probably the only agent here who could beat mama in a fight, but she works at a desk now."

The others were shocked as Anastasia walked over to the agent, smiling has she hugged her. She hasn't seen May since she was little. The last time she remembered spending time with her was after an op her and Coulson had in Bahrain.

"Hey monkey…have fun?" May asked, looking down at her goddaughter. "If you consider jumping down 12 stories and crashing through a window then, yeah tons of fun." She replied making the Asian woman laugh. "I saw that; I am surprised that you even wanted in on that crazy mess." Melinda replied. "Yeah, well somebody had to tell reindeer games that he could mess with us and get away with it." Anastasia replied. "True, so are you sticking around after this or are you done for a while." Melinda asked. "Sticking around I guess, I have nowhere else to work…besides this is more interesting." She told her godmother. "Good, cause now I can teach you how to really kick butt." Melinda told her, making the teen grin. "Does that include what you just did to dad?" Anastasia teased, earning an indignant cry from Clint. "And more." She laughed, making said archer turn to his wife with worry.

"Honey, I think your best friend is trying to corrupt our sweet little angel." Clint said, making all three women look at him. "I think that happened a long time ago, Barton." Coulson said, making the entire group chuckle.

Suddenly, a throat clearing made the agents look up. They all turned to see Fury and Maria standing behind them. He looked slightly amused by the scene playing out before him. He knew that while the battle was over, it was time to go back to work as well.

"Well, if we are all done fooling around, I believe you all have a bird to catch." Fury said.

The group nodded as they all stood and prepare to leave. They also notice fury held a red, white and blue colored jacket. He looked directly at Anastasia with a knowing look.

"Agent Barton, the Olympic team is having a press conference at the UN Building…while you have not been discovered, your team mates need you...several gyms across the city were leveled." Fury said, making the team gasp. "Yes sir." She replied, taking the jacket from him.

As the group prepared to leave, Anastasia felt her find go back to when the gym flooded, just days before the Beijing Olympics. She was upset because she thought she would never get to go to London.

Clint walked over to her and placed his arms around her. She leaned into her father, trying to find a way to calm down. While Loki did not take over the world, he struck the heart of the world of gymnastics. Aside from S.H.I.E.L.D., gymnastics was all she known. The older agent just held her as a silent silver tear rolled down her cheeks. She hated that she had to lie the world, but she hated it even more that thousands of young girls were in the same position as her back in 2008.

AN: I know that I have taken a long time to get this chapter up. I hope that everyone likes this chapter and please remember to review. I know that I ended the chapter with a really bad cliff hanger, but where would the fun be in that ;p. The only character I own is Anastasia.
