Chapter 21! Alright, this chapter will lead up to the next chapter that will help explain King Enlil's plan a bit better. But hopefully you guys all got the gist of what he wants to do. Let me know how you guys feel about his plan in your reply comments! Thank you, guys, so much for reading my story!
~With Jono and Yugi~
"Okay! Let's get started!" Yugi shouted cheerfully. She spread her wings out and made them glow alight with violet shine. She took her hands and enclosed them together, placed them on her chest, and in a flash, she pushed her hands forward with a big wave of magic surrounding the plants.
"Woah! So cool!" Mokuba called surprised. "I didn't know fairies could do that!" He jumped up and down excitedly.
"My dear, there's a lot that you don't know about us nature beings." Jono winked at him. "She can do that about 4 more times before she's completely exhausted her magic threshold. It should create about 500 more plants in the process."
Seto turned to Jono. "Well, didn't you say you were going to help her with the plants? Why aren't you doing anything?" He didn't mean to come off as a complaint, but he wanted to get the fix on this poison as quickly as possible.
Jono laughs. "I can't do anything right now your highness." She points to Yugi. "I have to wait for Yugi's signal." Saying this as if it was the most obvious answer.
'What did that mean?' he thought curiously. Undeterred, his piercing blue eyes never yielded their position as he continued to stare at Jono. "What do you mean you have to wait for her signal? Signal for what?" Poor Seto just doesn't understand, but to be fair it wasn't his fault. Being brought up to hate the Nymph Kingdom naturally made him hate the idea of any nature creature that lived there. Therefore, he had no rime or reason to research nature creatures and their abilities. Well, he's going to learn something today.
Jono waved him off and then proceeded to watch Yugi as she repeated her magic expulsion four more times exactly. 'I do know my sister.' Jono smiled lovingly at her thought. "Any second now…." Jono waited, anticipating the inevitable. In a few seconds she watched Yugi expel the fifth wave and then saw her promptly pass out. "Oh no you don't." Jono waved her right hand in a swoop motion. Jono's magic caught the poor exhausted Yugi from face planting the floor. "That's the signal your highnesses." Looking between everyone.
Yami didn't even bat an eyelash when he saw Yugi pass out. Causing Lycus to yell at him. "Are you not even concerned about your wife's safety and health?!" He pointed at Yugi and she was floating mid-air by Jono's magic. "She exhausted herself and almost hit the hard floor! If it wasn't for Jono she would…"
Yami cut him off. "It's BECAUSE Jono is here, that I'm not concerned. I know Jono will make sure no harm will come her way. And even IF harm DID befall her, Jono would be able to heal it as if it never happened." He looked at his wife and smiled. "She wants to do this to help. But for Jono to be of help as well, Yugi has to use all of her magic at once. She needs to completely drain all of her inner magic, so Jono can help replenish it."
'Well why didn't Jono just say that at the beginning?' Seto just shook his head. Slightly irritated that Jono wasn't answering him properly, but on the same note he's happy about it. She's making him think, not very many people get to accomplish this task. He's a very intelligent young man. He grew up with intense schooling to become a good king. With Jono, it was different, now instead of him 'knowing' everything like he previously believed, he feels like he knows nothing. But that made it all the more exciting for the young blue-eyed prince. He loved learning new things and Jono was going to give him exactly that. Things are going to be interesting and new for the soon-to-be king for long while.
~Three weeks have passed~
Now, the goal was to completely plant the new poison eating plants everywhere in the kingdom, trying to make sure they were spread out evenly across the lands. The nobles tried to obtain more for their lands, but King Lycus would have none of that. "Every life is important, no matter how much you have." For the next week many soldiers and lots of volunteers helped plant the seeds in the hopes for the young children's lives to have a better chance of survival. Not only did Yugi's magic help make more, but it also helped them to grow fast. Within a day of being planted and watered, the plants would be fully grown and consuming a decent amount of poison from both the ground and air surrounding it. It worked very well, but some children still ended up dying. Not near as many, but one was too much in everyone's case.
"It's not stopping the poison completely, nor is it really pausing it." Yami commented dejectedly. Truly feeling like he let the kingdom down.
Poor Yugi is having to lay down and rest. "We tried. And we still saved lives from it, so don't be so hard on yourself." Yugi said grabbing his hand. Yes, Jono didn't help replenish her magic, but after so many rounds, her poor body couldn't take it anymore. Thousands and thousands of plants were created over the last three weeks. Honestly, Yugi made it so much longer than anticipated. Jono's magic is easily replenished after a good night's rest, but Yugi isn't so fortunate. Plus, considering Yugi had to expel her magic five times in comparison to Jono's one, really takes a toll by itself.
Queen Mikuro placed her hand on Yami's head, lightly petting his tri-colored hair. "Yugi is right. How could you or anyone of us predict that it would turn out this way? And besides, if you hadn't created the plant then even more children would have died by now. Let's look at the positives here." She said that with a smile, but her blue eyes betrayed her face. She was still deeply saddened by the loss of children so far. But she was also proud of Yami, Yugi, and Jono. Jono for coming and saving her husband and the young couple for coming to aid in rectifying the poison. Such young ones risking their very livelihood to help the supposed enemy side. Truly admirable.
"It's alright son, you did your best. You all did." Lycus smiled grimly. 'Was there no way to end it' he thought.
A guard burst through Yugi's door. "Your majesties! I apologize for my sudden intrusion, but you must come quick. You won't believe who's here!"
Such a great ending spot. This will help further the story to make flow better. Next chapter will be getting good, so I hope you guys are ready!
