Author's notes: this literally came out of left field. I owe it all, yet again to ValntineZombie for being my inspiration, my muse, my support. ILY, woman! and I hope this is what you had in mind when you imagined Kendall covering Hunter Hayes' I want crazy.
If you don't know the song, please go to youtube DOT com/watch?v=XvtXgNtYFMs for the official video. It's a really upbeat and overall lovely song, even if you're not that into country music (and I am not, but I still like it. A lot!).
Ok, this is all I had to say. Please read and review.
LOVE!
Emy
"Come on, Jo!" Camille called happily from a few feet away entering the reconditioned barn the town used for special celebrations. "We gonna get our party on!" She laughed happily. Jo grinned and followed soon. She caught glimpses of her family all over the gathered crowd.
Camille had literally flung herself at Logan's neck, kissing his cheek with a happiness that would not leave them anymore. Not since their wedding a few months back. Logan had kissed his wife under their daughter's judging eyes. Nicole hadn't stuck around to watch her paernts' public display of love, she'd run out to join Jake on the dance floor.
Jo smirked watching her eldest son try to dance in line with the adults, with his brand new cowboy hat that matched his dad's hat and his almost-too-big cowboy boots. Jo's heart filled with love watching Nicole take Jake's hand and pull him into the middle of the dance ring to teach him how to do the right movements. Jo grinned wide as, by the end of the song, her son was actually dancing properly.
"Proud much?" Katie asked her, one slim hand slipping behind her back in a sideways hug. Jo nodded, her eyes meeting James' then Katie's.
"He's so talented. Like his dad." Jo answered, her eyes a little glazed over with love for both males she's invoked. Katie grinned.
"Wanna show 'em how it's done?" James bent over a little to whisper in his wife's ear. Katie blushed just a little and nodded. Jo beamed as James enthusiastically pulled Katie to the dance floor, spinning her in a wide circle before getting in step and putting everyone to shame with their dancing skills. Carlos laughed out loud in the mic, where he was singing the very inventive words to some made-up in-line dancing, James following without hardship every silly step the Latino indicated.
Jo looked to stage left where Becky was sitting at their table, her big belly not really fitting under the table anymore, and waved to her friend. Becky waved back, beckoning her over. Jo went happily.
"Where are the kids?" Becky asked as soon as Jo was within hearing range.
"Jennifer said she could handle them." Jo shrugged. "Made Camille come back to the farm and drag me away." Becky laughed.
"I'm glad she did. You clean up nice." She added, gently sipping on her lemon water. Jo rolled her eyes, looking down at her white and blue fluffy dress.
"I look like I just stepped out of Grease."
"Hey! Don't mock it till you tried it." Becky retorted. "Besides. Grease is a classic. Olivia would be proud of you." Jo groaned as she sat down, her bakck to the stage, her attention fully on Becky.
"Is the little one giving you any more trouble?" She asked, concern written all over her face.
"Neah... She's been good for the past week." Becky replied as a very familiar Mmmmm... came from the stage. Jo's eyes widened. She slowly turned to the stage. Her jaw dropped.
Kendall was sitting on a high chair in the middle of the stage strumming his guitar, a smile on his face as his mouth opened to sing loud and clear.
I'm booking myself a one-way flight
I gotta see the color in your eyes
Yeah tellin' myself I'm gonna be alright
Without you baby is a waste of time
Yeah, our first date, girl, the seasons changed
It got washed away in a summer rain
You can't undo a fall like this
'Cause love don't know what distance is
Yeah, I know it's crazy
Jo's heart skipped a few beats when Kendall's eyes met hers, just as he sat up, pushed the chair down with his left foot, grabbing the mic with one hand, eyes closed under the passion exhuding from his every word, his whole being shining in the soft light spread all around the barn.
But I don't want "good" and I don't want "good enough"
I want "can't sleep, can't breathe without your love"
Front porch and one more kiss, it doesn't make sense to anybody else
Who cares if you're all I think about,
I've searched the world and I know now,
It ain't right if you ain't lost your mind
Yeah, I don't want easy, I want crazy
Are you with me baby? Let's be crazy
Yeah
Kendall looked amazing singing up there. Jo felt as if every word was meant only for her. She took in every single detail about her husband - from the snug fit shirt that matched her dress, to the very tight dark wash jeans covering his legs to the dark cowboy boots and the wide brim hat that matched Jake's to a T.
I wanna be scared, don't wanna know why
Wanna feel good, don't have to be right
The world makes all kinds of rules for love
I say you gotta let it do what it does
I don't want just another hug and a kiss goodnight
Catchin' up calls and a date sometimes
I love that we're rebels, and we still believe
We're the kind of crazy people wish that they could be, yeah
Oh, and I know we're crazy, yeah
Without realizing Jo had began dancing and spinning around in a small circle, her dress puffing up and making her feel like a child once more. Kendall's eyes met hers once more and Jo clapped her hands, happily spurring him on into yet another lively chorus.
You with me baby? Let's be crazy
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Kendall threw his hat into the crowd of dancing bodies, golden hair shining like honey in the sun, his guitar flung back as he held onto the mic with both hands and he poured himself into the music with just as much passion as he'd done as a teenager, back in LA, back when Jo had first fallen in love with him, back when they were nothing but two crazy love stricken teens. Jo's eyes shone with happy tears, her hands clasped together over her chest as if to keep from bursting with too much love for the man that she'd given everything up for.
No, I don't want "good" and I don't want "good enough"
I want "can't sleep, can't breathe without your love"
Front porch and one more kiss, it doesn't make sense to anybody else
Who cares if you're all I think about,
I've searched the world and I know now,
It ain't right if you ain't lost your mind
Yeah, I don't want easy, I want crazy
Yeah, look at us baby, tonight the midnight rules are breaking
There's no such thing as wild enough,
And maybe we just think too much
Who needs to play it safe in love?
Let's be crazy!
Na na na na oh na na na na oh
Kendall took a small, calming breath. Waited a single beat and almost whispered the very last words of the song, making them sound more full of meaning than anything else in the world.
Who cares if we're crazy? We gotta be crazy!
I know that we're crazy, so let's be crazy!
Yeah-ah-ah...
Jo watched Kendall simply let go of the mic and jump off the stage, coming straight for her as everyone cheered for him. The smile he was giving her was nothing but love and intimacy in a room filled with people. Jo jumped into his arms right as Kendall's arms came to wrap around her waist to secure her as he turned around in a circle. Jo giggled.
"I love you so much!" She said before Kendall could speak. "You are so beautiful out on stage," She added breathlessly before her husband's lips effectively shut her up in the middle of their friends and family cheers.
