A/N: Because I wanted to get back to my roots as a hardcore romantic and do some romantic Remus, I decided that the "Painfully Bad and/or Awkward Kisses" by Alarice Tey would be perfect. Was written to the music of Ed Sheeran.

Disclaimer: If I were JK Rowling, I wouldn't need to write fanfiction, would I? Alas, I have not written a best-seller series, I have not changed countless millions of lives for the better, and I am not one of the richest women in the world. I have a cat, though.

Something Beautiful

"This is the start of something beautiful,
This is the start of something new,
You are the one who'd make me lose it all,
You are the start of something new"

-This by Ed Sheeran

Gravity.

That was the cause of all of this.
Gravity and sheer dumb luck. But then again, she wasn't complaining. For once, Tonks wasn't humiliated by her innate clumsiness.
It had happened so suddenly, so unexpectedly, it was almost as if it were straight out of one of those ridiculously romantic films that she always cried over.

Almost.

It was better.

Completely surprising and quite… genius, really.

Tonks hadn't planned it, sure, but, Merlin, it couldn't have turned out better if she had.

One second, she was walking into the kitchen of Grimmauld Place, and the next, she was falling, stretching to reach his hand. They both landed with a thump on the stone floor, and his lips were on hers. Sweet, soft, and warm, his lips were not hesitant, as she thought they might.
The fantasies she'd had didn't hold a candle to what the real man could do with his lips. It was only after he had pulled away that the pain set in. Groaning, she blinked rapidly, attempting to regain clarity. Through the haze, Tonks saw a hand outstretched to help her to her feet. Slipping her small hand in his warm one, she let him pull her up.

Stumbling forward slightly, she let her free hand rest on his chest (dear Lord, where had he been hiding those muscles?) and her other hand remained in his. She dropped her head to rest on his chest and sighed.

"I'm sorry. That wasn't how I wanted it to go." she huffed.

"That makes two of us." he chuckled.

Tonks' head snapped up, her eyes quickly meeting his.

"Oh?"

"Well," Remus began, pulling Tonks closer so their bodies were flush, his free hand teasing the hair at the nape of her neck, "I thought it might go more like this…"

Pressing his lips to hers, he smiled as Tonks' hand went slack against his chest.

It wasn't perfect, it wasn't beautiful.

It was more than that.

It was them.

A/N: Good, bad? Tell me!
