The Dragon's Quest
Another Chapter has finally arrived! I'm really sorry it took so long to update a Dragon Ball story considering it was them that brought me into Fanfiction so many years ago. However, Super has really been annoying me despite the cool look of Ultra Instinct (by the way, it's not a transformation, and it's barely a technique. It's an instinct, as redundant as it sounds, meaning there shouldn't be an aura around Goku. Does Whis have an aura? no, and he plus the other Angels have dominated that instinct long ago.) There are so many rules broken that were supposed to be for everyone equally. And of course let's not forget Jiren the OP character. You know, I thought Toriyama said that no one could reach the Gods of Destruction. Or did somehow he also forget about the things he 'just' invented? Jesus, one day Hit is being exploited and then Jiren pulls his time breaking powers out of his ass. What's the next character to come? At least Vegito's and Gogeta's powers have an explanation by fusion, the broken technique by excellence.
I know the flames are coming my way. All of you ranting about 'You don't understand the science of Super' or you shouldn't watch it if you don't like it'. But sadly, as a long-time fan of the original DB I can't. People hate GT because of plot holes and inconsistencies. Oh but what did Goku, a Blue God, do? He transformed to fight 17 and Krillin... are you kidding me? And don't come and shout about 'he is holding back and all that'. If he wanted to incentive Krillin, a Super Saiyan was plenty to go around. And Android 17, who can somehow train to get stronger, would only force a SS2. That's it. No need to use Blue when it is not needed.
And I thought Goku never returning to his adult body in GT was a lame way to down power him. The only good thing Super has showed us were the ladies. And I sure as hell will use them in my own DB stories. They are just too hot to ignore.
Why couldn't Toei just wait until the Manga had properly settled before starting the Anime? And speaking of Toei, how many more scenes will they recycle to save money? Every episode has a previously seen image. At least they should have improved the animation.
But they didn't. And the Spirit Bomb...*sigh* I'm not going down there.
Oh and this story WILL go on. No amount of people raging about Potara not being permanent is irrelevant. I finally tolerate the God forms and added them to my blogs (although their power level is bullshit as many. Seriously why using Blue against enemies Goku only needs his base form?). But Golden Frieza and now temporal Potara fusion…yeah fuck you Toriyama for letting Toyotaro do that reboot. You could have just added Gogeta and settled many rabid fans. At least, people knew that Metamoran dance would defuse early by power consumption. We have watched it happen before, remember?
Okay rant over. Last we left Vegito had just ascended into a non-canon transformation that I still think is more canon than the new ones. And he is ready to kick Baby's ass. So enjoy the conclusion of our fight!
Disclaimer for those that don't know: I don't own DBZ or DC heroes and villains. They belong to Toriyama and DC comics respectively no matter how much we may hate them for what they have become. The only thing I own is Potara fusion permanency.
Chapter 27: Legend of the Universe
The newly ascended Super Saiyan stared down to his black-shinning enemy, his golden eyes founding the dark purple ones. Both were analysing each other, knowing only one could leave this dismal encounter with his life intact. The other would soon cease to exist. In this multiverse or any other. Tornadoes and hurricanes rippled on the battle-scarred background despite the two combatants barely releasing their ki to the outside. The climate upheaval had been thrown into chaos the moment these two fated enemies had their fists colliding hours ago.
The possessed Atom glared at Vegito, or whatever the shaggy 'thing' floating in front him was. The new fur looked simply ludicrous in spite of accentuating the 'monkey' moniker of the species. But those eyes, they seemed to be slowly and dreadfully killing him one second at the time. How could this mere simian have such an impact in his superior psyche? He was nobody, a maggot compared to the ruler of this new universe!
"So the monkey has changed its costume again," Baby taunted his bravado masking his unwelcomed wave of fear. "You Saiyans need to stop doing those useless transformations." The brand-new Saiyan chuckled in response. Yet with its rougher voice it sounded more like a low growl of an animal ready to pounce on its feast.
"Well, we Saiyans always enjoyed putting up good shows, you know," Vegito said with a little smile, eyes closed. His golden eyes opened again, smirking and cracking his knuckles with electricity briefly escaping his finger joints. So much bio-electric volts coursed through his pumped physique that the minimal electric discharge of his nerves charged up enough static to be physically manifested on the outside. "And because it's going to be your last one, I'll make sure to put a hell of one." The black-glowing parasite clutched his palms in barely restrained ire. His famous jagged black miasmic aura came alive around his possessed body.
"You miserable ape!" The Tuffle blurted out, moving towards the enemy at speeds that made time look completely still, his charged-up fist hitting right square on the Saiyan's unfurry chest. The acceleration had been perfect, no momentum wasted and all of it compressed and amplifying a punch capable of erasing the very universe they were residing in. The following shock wave disturbed the Earth itself, nearly breaking the already-shaken blue planet in two. The heroes of the Justice League covered themselves from the backlash of the ungodly power unleashed. Yet Vegito remained with his smirk, unscathed and unmoved, still not using any power to defend himself from the flimsy blow.
"Wow, tingling." The furry Saiyan smirked in taunting, not even a scratch in his bulky chest. Atom-Baby floated a few steps back, his purple eye showing unadulterated fear just for the briefest of moments. But the fear turned instantaneously into inconceivable wrath.
"I'll kill you!" The parasite yelled at top of his lungs before accelerating again towards his Saiyan enemy. His eternal energies kept powering him higher and higher. But by the time Baby was just an inch away from hitting his prey; the parasite felt a pressure on his back followed by something pressing really hard on his guts. Vegito only grinned, after not moving from his super-swift blink attack. Atom-Baby staggered back, his black Dilustel body cracked on his front and back side by an unknown invisible force of the multiverse.
"What did you do to me?!" The Tuffle blurted out, his voice echoing with pain, his mouth dripping with what looked like silver-shinning blood. The ascended Saiyan just closed his eyes, his grin never leaving his chiselled face.
"Nothing, except for hitting you ten times all over your body." Vegito simply said like if reporting the weather forecast. His furry arms casually rested across his chest.
The Tuffle's world was completely thrown topsy-turvy. What kind of bullshit was that?! No one could move that fast without him being able to see it.
"Ten? What the Hell do you mean with ten?! I only received two hits!" Baby yelled back, agony resounding in his beaten voice. What was worse was that his injuries weren't healing yet. Why?
"Those were the least important ones," Vegito simply said, looking at his wrist. The last living Saiyan pretended to have an invisible wristwatch like a chronometer. "Because the other attacks will crack you in three... two... one." As Vegito finished the countdown, the hearing of a glass that slowly started to shatter run all over Baby's metallic body. The possessive Tuffle looked down on his host body in utmost terror. The spider web of fissures on his chest and back had suddenly expanded all down to his feet and soles and up to his face and scalp. Energy was sipping through the cracks, the atoms of air around his body burning up with nuclear power barely contained. The very air particles turned radioactive to any life form nearby by the slowly unrestrained radiation.
The parasite hastily created a vibrant purple aura around him. Though his healing worked on its own like any other being, the Tuffle could accelerate the process if he so wanted to. And Baby very much needed to kick it up a notch at the moment or he would have been reduced to simply metal shards. The painful cracks rapidly disappeared from his iron hide and the Tuffle was no longer broken. Body broken, that was. His pride had taken the full blunt force trauma of an entire galaxy-buster attack.
"You sure cracked up, and I didn't even tell a joke," The brown-furred alien fighter commented with a sneer and mirth in his voice. His golden gaze was driving Baby mad and his comments were only digging deeper into the wounds. "But you would know about jokes, wouldn't you, Tuffle? You and your race have always been one."
The parasite from another universe was fuming. His left fist was ready to land again. This time right on the nose bridge and shatter the monkey's face. Hopefully blowing it up all together. Yet his buckle and throw movement was thwarted when Vegito appeared in front of his rival, his fur-less hand taking hold of Baby's attacking one and squeezing hard. The parasite had no time to ponder how his enemy had known beforehand what was going to happen. He felt his limb going limp as pressure to condensate a star into a black hole was tearing his arm on the inside.
After a few seconds of unholy pressure, the Saiyan let go cackling to the sight of his Tuffle arch-nemesis rubbing his shattered hand. This was just so funny! When he had thought he had lost the battle for good, this miracle transformation happened. So much strength cursing through him that it may overwhelm any undisciplined mind. But as warrior known throughout decades as the strongest being and with the power to back that title, Vegito knew this level of might was only ten steps ahead from his previous one so if he was feeling pretty cocky about his chances of winning then it was justified. However, the last living Saiyan had a job to do.
"You want me to slow down so you can count the hits this time?" The Saiyan asked rhetorically. His furred arms folded over his pumped pectorals made his comment mode demeaning for the parasite if possible.
"Die!" The Tuffle yelled out top voice, his black-power aura coming alive increasing his astonishing powers, speeding towards Vegito with immeasurable speed. The Saiyan braced himself for the fight. Though Baby was no longer a concern in power terms, the Saiyan still had to worry for one last thing before finishing off his old rival so to finally avenge all the things he had done in the multiverses.
The Tuffle shot a rapid light-speed punch aimed for the nose bridge. Vegito only moved his head to his left, his hands shooting up faster than Baby could follow despite his ever-constant power increment. The right hand of the newly ascended Saiyan lifted the attacking arm at the wrist level, taking it high into a ninety degree position. The other hand of Vegito hastily aimed his clutched index and middle finger attacked right at the arm pit with speed that burnt the very air around his movement. The strike landed with a sound of cracking mirror, the two digits easily penetrating the location and sending painful sensations all over Baby's body. Despite his outwards looks, Baby still had the body of a being with nerves and brain, disadvantages the Saiyan could easily make good use off whereas his previous battles had always been very close quarters to futilely attempt them.
The Saiyan floated back letting Baby suffer by that nerve-breaking strike. That location had a lot of nerve connections and hit by Vegito's galaxy-moving fingers was a clear sentence for indescribable pain. Yet the Super Saiyan Four didn't let up for a single moment. When Baby seemed to have healed up the damage, or at least most of it, Vegito was already on the damaging way again with a preciseful knee cap to the guts. The strike had been powered down enough to not instantly pierce through Baby. Yet it still packed the wallop to bent Atom in unholy agony neither God nor Devil could provide, followed by a lashing of the long brown-furred monkey tail around Baby's neck. The parasite from an extinct race was forced upwards with his neck in a choking stranglehold.
The furry Saiyan momentary sighed in satisfaction before unleashing a flurry of strikes Baby couldn't hope to ever follow. The blows were so fast, strong and deadly that each time they connected the soil of the planet cried out in pain with earthquakes rippling in tandem. The air around the Ultra-ascended alien was creating miniature black holes, which luckily patched up and disappeared just as fast as they had materialized. The chasms of lava kept spilling their hot liquid into the outside with each strike, like if the planet was the one been hit and vomited like been repeatedly punched in the stomach. The surface of the once lifeful planet of the solar system was smeared with constant orange patches of magma, no longer looking like a place that could sustain or even create any lifeforms.
After what could have been the thousandth punch in the split of a nanosecond, Vegito yawned in boredom. His enemy was dented beyond recognition, bumps and swelling over his shattered armor. If armor could swell like organic tissue could. But logic at this point didn't matter at all.
The crimson-widow-peaked Super Saiyan grinned his long tail slashing downwards with Baby careening down until hitting the singed terrain with the might of a million hydrogen bombs. Vegito's right hand charged up a tennis ball-sized orb of bright yellow ki. He casually dropped it like one would drop a stone on a lake, letting it fall on top of his re-healing enemy. The following mighty explosion created a swirling vortex of obliteration down to the subatomic level, utterly destroying the surrounding area for thousands of square miles comparable to a quarter the size of the Moon. The landscape was levelled, tons of rubble and chucks of the mother rock granite flying away and leaving nothing but emptiness for miles end and a beaten Tuffle in perilous condition.
Baby, however, wasn't the only thing been hit beyond repair. The very travesty in between the multiverse was slowly coming undone by the mighty Ultra Saiyan's actions. His very presence was erasing the natural boundaries intertwining the Fifty-Two cosmos. Many places from the other realities were been destroyed by no natural cause they could understand.
In a different kind of Earth, referred to as Earth-Three, a group of villains called the Crime Syndicate were also having some trouble. Their planet was been torn apart by mighty blows happening all over the surface. But the thing was the fighters causing such devastation were not on the planet's surface.
"Owl Man!" Ultraman blurted out in demand. He was a Kryptonian although raised in a much more different place than his goody-two-shoes counterpart called Superman had. Things were blasting straight into Kingdom Come and without him been the cause of it. If anything, there seemed to be no cause, at least visible within the electromagnetic spectrum of his fifty different versions of eyesight. "What the freaking Hell is going on?!"
The man dressed like an owl, Batman's evil counterpart in this planet and reality was trying to understand the readings his scanners were getting. At least from the machinery still standing from so much energy havoc. It was a miracle their Hall of Injustice was still standing despite the tremors running through literally the whole continent.
"The scanners only detect a massive dimensional breach with the second Earth," The vigilante replied, his voice not very calm and collected like usual. "One energy signature is so gigantic that the energy it outputs beats a dozen supernovas," The owl-themed villain looked at his Kryptonian partner with unadulterated fear plastered behind his mask "And I'm thinking this is not even the full scope of this being's power."
The evil alien from Krypton could only gawk. What kind of messed up things were those stupid heroes of that Earth messing with?
The same catastrophic events on a world-wide scale were transpiring on Earth-Eleven. An alternate version of the Dark Knight referred as Batwoman was going trough the same complications as her counterparts were. Her Justice Hall was barely capable of remaining firm to its foundation. The burst of glass shards scattered by the massive force generated by one Saiyan was the least important hazard. Considering there were grenade-like shock waves appearing at random then it was justified.
"Batwoman, what's going on?" Superwoman, this universe's version of the known Superman only in a hot female body desperately asked from behind her long-time partner. They were receiving a lot of reports from other heroines about cities over the continent been attacked by...nobody. Just aleatory outbursts of super-heated energy that were levelling metropolises down to ground zero faster than nuclear strike. On any day, she would have suspected her arch nemesis, Lena Luthor. But the fact Superwoman had just saved her life from her collapsing office meant she was not only not involved but was another victim like everyone else.
"I'm just as clueless as you are," Batwoman replied, trying to make head or tails of so much information. "All I know is that one single person from Earth One is sipping energy into our own reality," The Bat-theme heroine sighed trying to not freak out. Her cool demeanour had always prevailed in such environments and now was no different. No matter if this was their final hour. "And if he or she doesn't stop soon, there won't be any reality left."
The kryptonian lady of Steel would have dropped her jaw in bewilderment, if the building wasn't shaking by a thirteen-grade earthquake. Superwoman made a hasty dash of speed, quickly getting her fellow heroine out of the path of the collapsing ceiling.
Across the multi cosmos, nobody was sparred from the cataclysm. From Earth One, the epicenter of madness, across the variety of equal but slightly different realities like the Red Son universe, the Justice Riders universe, The Thrillkiller and New Frontier going all the way to the unknown of Wildstorm and Kingdom Come cosmos. Heroes and villains alike over were being torn by an unfathomable force none of their universes could sustain for much longer.
Back in the original Earth, the two Justice Leagues were all unaware of their multidimensional doppelgangers' dilemma. To the heroes on the ground, the fight was most like a super fast and powerful ballet of motion in-between the countries. The fighters were moving so fast that they were literally fighting on a different country with each dodge of attack. Each blow was continuously sending shock waves all over the atmosphere. It would be amazing if it didn't mean the end of the world or more.
The Dark Knight knew something was off. Not in the fight, mind you. This kind of divine-esque struggle was beyond his scientific or detective mind to comprehend and analyse. The green planet was still standing. Why? He knew Vegito had perfect control over his strength, to a greater degree so than the other super humans in the League. But this scenario was getting grimmer with each strike of thunderous blasts and hyper kicks traded around.
When Vegito won, and there was no hypothetical IF here, what were them to do to repair the damage? Destroyed cities could be rebuilt but as long as there were people to live on them. At this point, however, the hero of Gotham doubted someone other than the members of the League were still alive.
Batman suddenly felt his eyes a bit teary. That's how it started. The next thing he knew his lungs felt like they were on fire. The Dark Knight coughed, feeling like his organs were been injured from the inside out. A wave of queasiness swept his brain, nausea and vomit following. Looking around he was not surprised to see he wasn't the only one affected. Many of the heroes suffering were the human ones.
"Okay now what...'s going on?" Flash coughed up some blood, feeling like he had run across the globe right after eating his thirty-burger lunch. He took Artemis' hand hoping to calm each other's sudden nervousness. But the archer wasn't doing much better. Next to them, Zatanna, Canary and Green Arrow were been helped by the two Lanterns, whose emerald auras protected them from the hazards. The teenage heroes weren't faring much better than their former teachers. Only M'gann and Blue Beatle were not apparently affected, trying to help their team members.
The Dark Knight spat blood too, looking at the smear in his glove. He realized the black color of the clothe was darker than before. And his Kevlar armor also felt a bit weightier than usual. His cowl moved up to the darken heavens with a drizzle of ashen toxins descending and gently depositing on anything and anyone on the floor.
"It's the air," Batman stated after taking a few calming breaths to recover his coherence and not black out. He knew if he did, he would not wake up. "It's no longer breathable."
Superman nodded. So much ash plumes courtesy of the venting volcanoes had been thrown into the atmosphere that there was barely any oxygen compared to the nitrogen, carbon monoxide, and acidic brimstone. It didn't fact that the energy the two combatants were unleashing had weaken the ozone layer, allowing cosmic radiation to bathe the defenceless planet. Superman looked up with his microscopic vision to see the black rain of little crystal shards composed of silicate and mercury coming down on everyone. The Man of Steel was quite bright in many fields. Human Biology been one of them. And a regular human or meta human would not survive in this environment longer than a few minutes, no amount of physical training helping. Besides, this substance was absorbed by the skin as well. So exposure was sadly a major factor in the detriment of the Justice's health.
"Retlif Dleihs!" Zatanna enchanted in a raspy voice. Herself and the other humans around were instantly surrounded by a turquoise aura around their bodies. Now with breath properly taken in by their lungs, they regained their footing. But for how long would that last. The sorceress seemed to be the only one who knew to trust Vegito's actions, no matter how much devastation they had caused.
"What do we do?" Wonder Woman asked what was in everyone's mind. Never in her life had the warrior of Themyscira been out in such a dire situation. She was sure her own people were suffering the consequences of this battle just like she was. But the founding member of the League had to deal with one thing at the time. Her family of Amazons would have to wait until this crisis was over.
"I don't think there's anything left for us to do," Superman declared in a defeated tone that didn't suit the hero many knew. He looked up another shock wave reverberating across the torn landscape. "Just wait." That was always the toughest option to go through.
The parasite healed faster than one would have expected from the last attack, careening into his long-time rival with recklessness his fury brought along. The new Super Saiyan Four merely side-stepped a right fist by moving to his own right and countered with a much faster knee strike to the abdomen. Baby bent over in pain while Vegito raised his right arm, firing a descendant sharp elbow to the Tuffle's back. The blow shattered and dented the black Dilustel material sending the parasite down hard to meet the ground at blurring speeds. Or what remained of 'ground'. The black-burnt soil exploded like hit by a dozen of nukes, atomized down into subatomic particles, vents of lava again escaping into the surface of the planet. The brimstone kept slowly polluting the atmosphere. If the ionic radiation of space hadn't done that already by the lack of ozone layer.
Baby rapidly pressed on with a light speed wide hook. Vegito swerved down to dodge it, his upper body bending back in a perfect limbo game. The sloppy blow flew over the Saiyan's vision as his body kept going down. In return, his legs shot up, his right one faster and with his knee folded up at the ready. The knee blow landing straight at the back of the parasite's head created a sickening crunch noise, shards of black metal flying away after the hit capable of eradicating a galaxy. Baby howled in white-hot agony, while pressing his hands on the open wound bleeding neon blue radiation into the outside.
The Saiyan was really annoyed at this point. Not that by the lack of fight, however. But by the lack of a plan. His victory by destroying Baby was still not coming but not because Vegito was having second thoughts about killing him and finally extinguishing the Tuffle race. Besides the planet he had wanted to protect had been reduced to a living hazard.
"Focus, dammit! You will fix the planet after this idiot is down for the count." The ascended alien coursed himself in his mind, his body still moving in natural reflex to dodge the attacks of his sloppy opponent. For some bizarre reason, the last Saiyan could feel that his body sometimes moved without ordering it. Was it something that his new transformation granted? Or did his body adapted with more than just Zenkais thanks to the last battle?
Those questions would have to be answered later.
The parasite healed his black-armored body and stared up towards his brown furry enemy floating above him, his stance showing his confidence. Vegito was completely unfatigued. But again, so was Baby. That had been his main reason for choosing Atom as his host. Someone like the captain could go on for days. Increasing the energy would drain Atom in minutes but the cunning parasite had also absorbed the other Leaguer's powers, allowing him to use and amplify the Dilustel powers beyond anything Atom was normally possible of achieving or holding together for long.
Baby tried to attack again, but his blows were no longer coordinated. Simple fury and madness, concentrated in fast and furious strikes, capable of reshaping the entire multiverse if he so wanted to. His energy ever increasing his physical attributes beyond his previous limits. Each dashing strike heated up the air around the limbs, giving them an almost skin-tight aura of fire for the briefest of seconds. At this point, a Super Saiyan Three would have been erased with a simple backhand. But to everything Baby had, Vegito had it stronger now. The Ultra Saiyan was flying back at lightning speeds, dodging and brushing the attacks aside with more strength than Baby could muster and barely scratching the surface of his deep new Saiyan might.
Vegito's left forearm moved to the right, the lousy-aimed kick brushed aside like a martial arts teacher with a starting student. Baby attempted to go for a punch again. However, the Super Saiyan Four swiftly shot his left knee up at such high velocity that it was almost a teleportation. The knee bone slammed hard into Baby's chin, his black-Dilustel head jerking up for the briefest of seconds almost crying out in pain. Yet Vegito wasn't over, his entire body hovering up a few inches and throwing a descendant also left elbow right on top of the scalp before the Tuffle could whisper a single syllable of anguish. The incoming pressure from above plus the one from below almost made Atom's head burst into a shower of ionic gore. The newly Ascended alien hovered back, leaving Baby reeling by the overwhelming onslaught of galaxy-buster attacks he received in a time span of less than a second. Baby's anger rose while the ultimate-level Saiyan barely paid attention to his re-healing enemy charging up like a wild rabid beast in need to be put down. His limbs, all of them strong enough to kill Baby at any moment were eluding the strikes while the Saiyan's mind drifted into other topics.
For so long the Saiyan had gone unchallenged until arriving into this reality. Even the strongest enemies of this reality had only pushed him to forms his fusses had at the time of the permanent union. Never had he had to actually break the threshold of his heritage into this unknown realm of strength he had just tapped into. And what was better, this form was not straining him, there were no side effects to its continuous use.
But even now, there was something still holding back the new Super Saiyan. Vegito frowned and countered a left hook with a hit to the throat with the heel of his gloved left hand. The attack caused Baby to gasp in white pain, his cervical vertebrae almost snapping to the side. And also allowing the Saiyan to super sped from behind Baby and land an elbow to the back and a punch to the guts. The attacks were so swift that no time measure could describe the nimble speed behind the blows, as they were literally happening at the same time. Reality could be simply broken by those actions.
Baby retreated, badly broken and furious beyond what human minds could comprehend. His body could heal the damage but there was still no obvious advantage for him like before. They could fight for days on, but apparently, that would not weaken the Saiyan fast enough. The Tuffle thrust both of his hands forward, charging dark purple energy into a concentrated sphere five feet wide black lightning escaping its surface.
"Die you dam dirty ape!" The parasite from another dimension screamed, unleashing his attack. The swirling sphere hit the brown-furry Saiyan dead on, with a cloud of thick smoke covering the sky as far as the eye could go. The smog could block the sunlight for days causing nuclear winters over the whole planet. Like if that could damage the ravaged planet even more.
As the dust settled, the Super Saiyan figure was still there standing stoic and bored. There were no burns or injuries in his fur. Not even a split-picosecond later, Vegito was in front of his enemy attacking with a combination right hook to the face, left elbow to the solar plexus and a golden energy beam at point blank. The super fast powerful strikes sent the parasite flying away in the air at murderous speeds like a common rag doll right to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The strength even pantheons of gods would envy behind those attacks was simply preciseful and deadlier than anything.
"Ancestor, he is going to win!" The Supreme Kai said happily, observing the fight through the magic screen that Fate had created. Despite them being in another plane of reality, the screen kept filling with static. An indication of the might of the two combatants' raging struggle.
"I have to agree. Even when the parasite increases his powers, he is still far behind the new unlocked power of Vegito." The golden master of Order said ominously, the fight on the screen surprising even himself. Never in his eternal life, Fate had met someone of the caliber of the two beings fighting on Earth. The green planet was barely standing by a miracle of a higher God. Or maybe a Lord of Chaos was feeling pity for the battle-stricken planet.
"You are right. But there's still something wrong," The Old Kai chimed in, causing the other two beings to look at him. Even for Fate, something was blocked from his sight if the Kai's tone was so serious "The fight could have been over just when it started. But Vegito is willingly holding back, knowing not to do a lot of harm against his enemy."
"But why would he do that?" The fussed Supreme Kai asked again confused. "Vegito always wanted to pay Baby back, but to not kill his enemy? I just don't get it."
"I think that is what he wants," Fate intervened wisely closing his eyes in realisation. "He wants his revenge against the enemy he once knew, not the friend he met in this world."
The new Super Saiyan repeated his easy flight side-step for another sloppy fist by moving to his right, the attack continuing and causing the Tuffle to have his body slanted forward like an amateur and overeager brawler. By that time, the Saiyan had already landed a front fist that shattered Baby's nose and a descendant kick, which cracked the black-glistering being's foreleg. The Tuffle tried to futilely retaliate with a mighty punch to the face, only to hit a holographic after-image, the real Saiyan next to him already landing a right lethal elbow to the temple and a perilous roundhouse to the guts. Atom-Baby spit some silver blood from his blasted insides after the amazing display of speed that every Flash of every universe would envy.
As much as the fight dragged on, however, the planet and merely a few hundreds of people were the only ones who were receiving the real damage. The Saiyan was standing proud without a blemish in his light brown fur. Even Baby, broken as he was before healing, was still at full power. At the most he had lost a tenth or less of his energy.
But things did eventually have to come to an end. And Vegito needed help for that. Only a few seconds, despite how crazy that could sound for his friends. The Saiyan's mind reached out to his telepathic Martian friend while still multitasking in case Baby went offensive again.
Back on the ground, the free-willed J'onn J'ozz in his calm and collected expression gazed at the perilous battle at hand. He had once been apprehensive about what Vegito's true power could do if unleashed. Now that fear had turned into dread as his adoptive world was turned into the human Biblical definition of Hell.
"J'onn I need your help. I think I found the way to take Baby out of Captain Atom." The Saiyan mentally said to the Manhunter while still dodging Baby's furious attacks. The green-skinned alien was surprised by the sudden mental call. Talking to him while also winning a battle had to be the toughest multitask he had ever witnessed. But keeping his stoic exterior, J'onn knew that if his help ended this cursed battle sooner then he would gladly do whatever it was.
"You do?" The Martian asked, his voice not doubting but more curious.
"Maybe. Put me in contact with the others." Vegito said his tone a bit doubtful but carrying a lingering glimmer of hope. Normally he could do such a mental task but his mind had to be mostly centered in one thing for now.
J'onn sighed, using his Martian abilities to unite all the minds of the remaining members of the Leagues. At first the group had been startled by the intrusion. But a quick intervention of the ascended warrior's booming voice put everyone at ease.
"Listen up everyone!" Vegito mentally said to all the heroes that could help. "I know how to bring Atom back and hopefully terminate Baby, but I'm going to need Baby distracted for a few seconds."
"You do realise we are all going to die because of you, right?" Flash said mentally, though nobody knew if he was joking or not. At this point of the battle, nobody knew what way to go.
"Let's do it already." Conner's voice said surprising many by his determination to still fight despite the obvious odds against them. If they were dying they would die as heroes.
However, the Ascended Saiyan was not going to allow it. He admired the will to fight despite having everything against you. That was how Saiyans of old thrived. But knowing he could fix all the damage done to the world didn't mean he was about to keep putting his friends in the crossfire.
"Sorry but this time only those that can take a punch may help," The Super Saiyan Four stated now, ducking under a punch and fighting with a headbutt to the Tuffle's chin. Many were already muttering about why the sudden order. "Baby has grown severely stronger and one hit is all he needs." Many heroes had to agree that they didn't want to throw their lives away. Others, on the other hand, despite wanting to intervene in this struggle for their home, had to unwillingly accept their inferiority.
"Once this is over, I will have a talk with that kid." The ascended Saiyan said to himself, knowing that no one could hear him. With a mental sigh, the ultra-ascended alien kept on his attack breaking the mind link.
The Cadmus clone dropped to his knees, punching the soil letting out his anger. The dent of a feet-deep made out of his frustration, however, paled in comparison to the core-deep holes around him. His teammates of the Team were in a similar train of thoughts. Well most of them. Jaime appeared to be having a discussion with his armor yet again. Something about 'inconceivable power for the Reach' or something like that.
"I'm sorry Conner. But I don't think this is within our grasp anymore." Cassie replied a bit crestfallen placing a hand on her teammate' shoulder trying to pacify him. She really didn't want to be on Conner's bad side considering she had been trying to get in his good one since she found out he was single again.
The clone of Superman sighed not liking the fact that he was useless. In fact the entire League was useless. And they apparently had to live with that fact. Was this what being a sidekick felt like? He had never had that experience as the only hero that could help him didn't even look Conner in the eye. Sure, Power Girl and also Supergirl were kind to him. But they had their own lives plus their own superhero names. Conner was just a clone. Created out of cells by a group of criminals so to one day replace Superman if he ever turned against Cadmus' founders.
Superboy almost snarled in laughter. So much for replacement. He couldn't even fly let alone have the full scope of strength, speed and the rest of the visions a full Kryptonian developed under the sunlight. He was only above his brother Match because he was stable and not always charging into blind-rage seizure.
His musing was cut short, however, when a brand new chasm of lava started spreading under their feet. Heat slowly emanated to the outside, indicating an incoming burst.
"M'gann, call the Bio Ship!" Nightwing ordered "We need to get to a higher ground!" After a quick mental call, the alien vehicle rapidly arrived to its destination taking all grounded heroes to the sky. With any hopes, away from danger and death.
The grey-colored parasite from another reality panted, a sloppy fist intercepted and followed against him with a short uppercut to the abdomen, creating a bulge on his back. The Super Saiyan Four smiled arrogantly as Baby hovered backwards painful inch by painful inch. His guts started to heal up. But with joyful irony, the last Saiyan could see firsthand how much slower it had gotten over the course of the battle. One time he had taxed a healing factor. Now a second time. This day was getting better and better.
Now it was time to end this all.
"Sorry if I cut our encounter short but…" Vegito started saying smiling while looking up into the black-bloated sky. Baby followed his enemy's trail of sight completely unaware of the sneaking heroes from his rear. Brusquely the absorption alien found himself trapped inside an emerald-colored energy shield. The two Green Lanterns Hal and John had their fists with their rings forward, glowing like jewels. They were pouring as much will power as they could muster into the thickest dome they could generate with their nigh-drained weapons to hopefully contain their opponent.
The Tuffle was beyond furious! These mongrels were like cockroaches, jumping in when they were not needed. Their usefulness had been outlived the moment they dared to stand against him!
"Begone peasants!" Baby cried out in indignancy, lashing his arms from left to right in a star-like fashion. With no difficulty at all, his pinkish ki exploded like a dying star, a concussive shockwave expanding all over the shaken globe in seconds. Both Guardians of the planet were sent careening backwards unconscious and no longer with green energy covering them and allowing them to fly. Luckily, Wonder Woman and Shazam managed to catch them in the nick of time before they could splatter over the fields of lava.
"That's the best you can come up with?" Atom Baby snickered, his eyes drifting around in the attempt to locate a particular Saiyan pest. His senses solely focused in one being were blind to somebody else moving in for the strike. Both Superman and Flash one flying and other racing, were heading straight for their possessed friend, their right hands blinking in and out of existence. Considered a last resort, this unique move of them thanks to their ability to vibrate their limbs at light speed and beyond could land with the condensated wallop beyond the explosion of a nova. The two Infinite Mass Punches collided with Baby's guts and his lumber back at the same time. The consequent boom echoed through the shattered planet, the heavy gloomy clouds scarcely flying away by hurricane wind gales. Baby backtracked more impressed than shocked. Someone aside from Vegito had caused him pain. Not a lot of it but the fact still counted.
Despite how minimal it had been.
Both Kryptonian and Speed-force enhanced human were panting after putting almost all of their remaining strength behind that cataclysmic attack they possessed. If they hadn't been careful they could have dropped dead already by focusing such dense power on themselves. Their blistered hands were already healing up. But not fast enough to save them. Standing against this invader from their friend's universe was a death sentence.
"You think you can stop me?!" Baby taunted his former subordinates, his smirk of triumph almost glowing as he raised his left hand. His right palm upwards a super-dense ki orb of sicklish purple materialized ready to be hurled and annihilate. "Those plain attacks are nothing like THIS power!"
However, the scarlet speedster and the Son of Krypton suddenly faced into the ground completely flabbergasting the slightly wary Tuffle. The energy attack was reabsorbed leaving a stunned Tuffle. Their energies were moving. But underground. As far as he remembered, none of them possessed digging capabilities.
"Hey Baby, did you miss me?" The annoying voice of the Saiyan asked sardonically from behind the Dilustel enemy. His jaw clenched, Atom threw himself forward, his sheer speed creating friction around his frame, all of his anger placed in one decisive last punch to terminate this nuisance!
The Tuffle seemed completely unaware of Vegito's ghostly appearance. Behind him, J'onn was grabbing the Saiyan' shoulders turning him intangible alongside him. Although the Martian had to hover to properly reach the taller member of the League.
The hastily-thrown strike never met its mark, only touching an ethereal smirking face of a Saiyan.
"Stay still, freak!" The Tuffle shouted out completely pissed off, his offensive persisting with grunts of bestial effort. And yet his punches kept going through the Martian and Vegito like knife through butter.
"We are not moving, you jackass!" The Super Saiyan Four exclaimed after the tenth missed blow, driving the final nail on the coffin.
"Shit!" The last Tuffle cursed out but it was too late. Vegito's punch striking like lightning from the sky in divine punishment slammed Baby's guts. Despite the certain death it would have brought, the immaterial fist was perfectly ghosting into the Dilustel-wielder's abdomen.
With a silent nod of his crimson-haired head, J'onn let go of the Saiyan, returning him to the material realm. His fist, however, remained firmly lodged within his opponent's belly.
The image definitely would have brought hope to anyone watching the fight after so long. Vegito was slanted forward, his right hand embedded in the most literal meaning of the word, inside Baby's guts. Despite the cumbersome stance he had to take, the Saiyan couldn't be happier.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Baby screamed out in shock and also pain. He could feel the Saiyan's digits in his abdomen just moving around to cause him agony.
"Just getting rid of you," The Saiyan oh-so-casually comented. Meanwhile he could feel the incredible heat inside Baby. The temperature of Gauss, the absolute heat of the universe. The incomparable temperature that had followed the first nanosecond after the Big Bang. The ardency no material object or being could withstand.
It was tickling his Saiyan hands.
"If you blow me up, Atom goes with me!" Baby taunted his rival with one last comment. The Saiyan was many things but not a murderer of his allies. The Tuffle' smirk grew in wideness. "And maybe the whole planet with so much power contained."
The Super Saiyan Four shook his head his smile unwavering by his decision. This match was as good as over. baby was just stupid to understand with words.
"I said I'm getting rid of YOU," The Saiyan stated again in a very calm tone, his ki slowly sipping from his attached hand into the bowels of the enemy. "Atom stays here."
"And do tell, what is the oh-mighty ape going t..." Baby's face suddenly lost his black color briefly returning to Atom's silver grey. Yet the frightful look behind the eyes was still very much the Tuffle's. "What's going on?!" The voice no longer was high pitched. It sounded like a regular gruff man. Vegito's plan was working.
"Before you arrived on Earth, sixty years ago a demon called Majin Buu tried to destroy my Earth," The ultra ascended Super Saiyan explained, more of his life force suffusing the entrails of the possessed hero of Earth. "When I appeared he was so desperate to stop me that he liquefied himself and forced himself into my body."
"But while he thought he had the control, he forgot that my body is mine alone," Vegito kept on explaining, Baby frowning in dispair, losing more grip over his possessed host. "I easily kept him locked in one place with only using my ki. And I'm doing that to you!" Baby screamed out, his punches trying to strike Vegito. But his hands were no longer his to control. Atom was regaining his former dominance, fighting the possession the more the Saiyan drained it of Baby's influence.
When Nathaniel's body returned to its pristine un-controlled coloration, Vegito knew it was time. The black had returned to silver and the purple tear tracks were gone.
"J'onn, now!" The rough voice of Ascended Vegito ordered. The green Martian Manhunter hastily touched his furry shoulder one more time encompassing him in his intangibility powers. The Saiyan rapidly retracted his hand a ball of swirling grey goo contained within a ruby red ki sphere.
"Guys, step back!" the Saiyan turned his head to make his command easily heard to everyone still conscious and around. "I don't want Baby to aim or to try to control any of you." Vegito didn't need to repeat himself. In two seconds, the heroes had put a good mile of distance by their own flight or aided by someone else.
Without moving, the furry alien dropped the shield and the goo started gaining a new body. The Tuffle panted. His black-cladded body was as tall as Superman with small yellow plates of armor on his chest and shoulder blades. His face still had the violet streams. His head was shaped into a sort of spikes. All in all, he looked like made out of his jelly.
"Well, you can't say you didn't grow since the last time." Vegito stated with a taunt trying not to laugh. Baby's drop of power had been abysmal. Now Vegito barely needed his Super Saiyan to end this. And that was giving Baby WAY more credit than he deserved. Maybe just a Kaioken.
"Now it's time to finish this, Baby." The Ultra Saiyan-Ozaru hybrid stated with a smile, his smirk not leaving his chiselled face. His golden stare was driving fear into the parasite's guts, the red lightning and glitter around his body bursting alive in tandem with his jagged aura of golden might. The mighty wind currents cleared up the sky revealing the beginning of a sunrise.
"No, I won't die by a dirty simian!" The now unparasiting Tuffle yelled out-loud. He flew up a hundred meters up in the air, rising both hands up. What little energy he still had was amassing in quantity. "If I'm dying, you are coming with me!" Baby's trade-mark black sphere of massive destruction appeared on his hands. Even with powers reduced, Earth could still disappear with no trouble. If his life was what it would take to finally fulfil the mission of his father Dr Myu then so be it!
"Revenge Death Ball!" The Tuffle flung his most powerful attack, ready to kill himself again if he needed so to complete his quest. Vegito remained impassive and stoic, the black energy moving straight towards him and the green planet while his arms hanged at his sides.
A red energy sphere shone on the Saiyan's left hand, and then another similar sphere shone on his right one. The hybrid Saiyan cupped his hands to his right side, the energy merging together into a meter-wide beam attack.
"Now, receive the power of the ten times Kame... Hame..." The red widow peak-haired Saiyan started enchanting one of most famous techniques, the red energy shinning with a billion times the power Baby was using against him, and that was still Vegito holding back most of his real titanic power. "Haaaaa!" The unfathomable blast fired off, clashing the black orb without trouble. The dark red attack easily overcame the destructive black sphere. No matter how much power the Tuffle tried to muster, the crimson energy engulfed his grey jelly-like body, making the last alien cry out for the tiniest brief of a microsecond. His vaporisation was down to the last molecule, the law of conservation of matter completely forgotten.
The energy attack kept on until reaching space, where it exploded in a blinding flash of red light.
The yellow Sun finally shone bright on the destroyed east side of the green world, the sky brighten up with a red aurora courtesy of the remnants of the Turtle Wave. Russia, India, Bialya, Pokolistan and Tibet and most of the countries of the Asian continent had smoking craters of miles wide and deep, created by the clash of mighty titans. The rest of the world was in no better condition, islands of the Pacific and Indian Oceans had been devoured by the chaotic tidal waves or were nothing but hovering smithereens, ripped from Earth's crust by the ruthless force of mortals stepping into the realm of sublime god-like power.
The League couldn't believe it. One day. Such roller coaster of emotions, treachery and world-wide devastation. All had occurred within the time span of twenty four hours. It was mind-blowing how such short amount of time could feel like a century or anxiety and restlessness of not knowing if they would see their home world safe once more.
But now it had finally ended. Hugging one another, the heroes laughed or patted the shoulder of their closest friend. Despite the crisis not been fully averted and untold damage and casualties taking place, the League couldn't help but feel victorious. The time to start making repairs would begin soon enough.
Many would say that revenge would bring nothing. But the Saiyan's face was showing something completely different. His eyes were staring to the blue sky, the dim sunlight bathing his brown furry body. A smile of happiness rested upon his lips as his body grew shorter and lost the fur. His tail wrapped itself around his waist over his blue sash.
"Thank you guys, you can finally rest in peace." Vegito thought to himself, his hand taking hold of someone's else. Zatanna didn't say anything. Just embraced her boyfriend in a hug, which Vegito gladly reciprocated.
Yet despite his undisputed triumph over his rival, the Saiyan looked with a hard gaze what remained of the battlefield. Such devastation and it was only in one planet. The Gods may know what other celestial objects had been eradicated or affected by his strife.
This mistake would be fixed. No matter how much it pained the Elder.
Notes from Chapter 27:
Vegito can still use the attacks amplified ten times like GT Goku did (In my opinion, Vegeta could have done it too if he had wanted).
Goku Super Saiyan God and Bills almost destroyed the universe. Vegito and Baby were destroying each and every one of the DC' Earths. All the 52 of them were been smashed by the struggle of fighters. Although Vegito had more influence there. How about that for a universal fight, GT haters?
I checked the universes in the DC Wiki. That way no one says I invented them without base.
Yes, there's something relevant with Conner to come up in the next chapters. It will develop during the second arc of the story, which roughly begins at Chapter 29.
Anyone caught the newest reference to a certain power coming from a show that resembles DBZ?
Baby is finally gone for good. But what are the heroes to do now? Find out in the next chapters!
