The End of the Rainbow
What lies at the end of the rainbow?
Some say it's a pot of bright gold.
Obtained through much trial and adventure.
That's how the stories are told.
…
What lies at the end of the rainbow?
Some say it's a leprechaun.
Guarding his own kind of treasure,
Beginning his dance at the dawn.
…
I dashed to the end of the rainbow.
Got there as fast as I could.
Boasted of this to my friends and my foes,
Achieved what I said I would.
…
But there's nothing at the end of the rainbow.
No gold and no elf singing songs.
Just early fame, early climax to life,
And for some reason it feels quite wrong.
…
I look back at the start of the rainbow,
And I wish I had taken it slow.
Because while I've reached the end of the rainbow,
I feel I've got nothing to show.
