Olivia opened her eyes and found one Fitzgerald Aidan Grant the Fourth sitting beside her on the bed leaning against her headboard watching a basketball game on mute whilst working on one of his projects for his internship. Olivia inwardly groaned,

"How much do you know?" she asked. Whilst it seemed like a good idea to keep the kids in the dark as she endured a week long worth of tests, seeing her boy sitting there on her bed with eyes wild with worry tugged harshly at her heart.

"Well from what I could piece together in your disappearances throughout the week, you have been making multiple trips to the doctor. I'm assuming that seeing as Dad has the times of those trips to the doctor blocked out from his calendar that it's big enough that you would let him come with you, so be straight with me Mom. What's going on?" Olivia sighed and sat up.

"You're pretty smart Ger Bear, sometimes a little too smart for Mom's comfort." She replied kissing his cheek.

"I had a little scare this week. I'm fine. I swear, but I was pretty freaked out for a bit there. I had to have a biopsy, and I had a minor procedure today."

"But you're okay" he asked,

"Like really okay, not Olivia Pope I'm trying to protect you okay?" Olivia chuckled.

"Yeah Baby, I got the all clear. They removed the mass and I'm good. I need to take it easy for a few days, and your Dad has pretty much banished me to this room until I get the okay from my check up in a couple of days."

"Good,"

"Baby, I'm really okay. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I just wanted to avoid all this. I also didn't want to put you in the position where you knew but Karen didn't. I just wanted to protect you both for as long as I could seeing as I wasn't even sure what I was up against."

"I get it Mom, I do. I just wanted to be here for you."

"Ger Bear, you're always with me. You can let your Dad off the hook too. I made him promise to let me tell you, which I was going to do before you left for LA."

"About that, Karen and I decided we didn't want to go to Disneyland without you so she is coming home for the weekend. I didn't tell her anything, but she has a honing beacon. She senses something is not quite right with the world and she just wants to come home." Olivia looped an arm through Gerry's and lay her head on his shoulder.

"It'll be good to have all my babies home and under one roof. Hey Ger,"

"Yeah Mom,"

"We good?" she asked worriedly. Ger wrapped an arm around her and kissed the top of her head.

"Yeah Mom we're good. For future reference, no more secrets okay. It's a little too close to Mellie Grant."

"I promise sweetheart. I'll even give you a pass for the Mellie Grant reference. I really am sorry Kid."

"I know Mom, and I didn't mean you were like her. I'm sorry."

"It's okay. I knew what you meant."

"You always do." He said softly, eternally grateful that she was alright.

Fitz came in to find Mother and children minus Karen on the bed. Lily was sitting up between Gerry and Liv as the three of them were seemingly engaged in a marathon of the Flash which has been Liv's most recent guilty pleasure.

"You too Ger?" Fitz asked amused.

"Sadly yes, now I can't stop watching."

"What? It's like one of the not very many G rated shows there are. I'm so over the drama that starts so promising and in the end it just ends up being trailer trash drama of affairs, murders, back stabbing. What happened to clever writing? At least this is easy, funny, light hearted, hopeful."

"You got her started," Fitz and Gerry said in unison making them all laugh.

"What time is Karen arriving?" Liv asked.

"She's on the jet now. She'll be home in time for dinner. Shall I get them to bring dinner up here and we can all just hang out up here?" Fitz suggested.

"Sounds like a plan." Olivia answered.

Karen entered the Presidential suite to find Olivia propped up with pillows. Gerry had taken Lily to change her nappy leaving Liv to her own devices whilst Fitz went to the kitchen to make sure everything was set for dinner. Karen loved how Olivia's face lit up every time she walked in the room. It's the same way she brightens up when Gerry and Lily entered the room. She had never known such unconditional love until Olivia Pope walked into her life, and even then she didn't fully grasp the concept until recently.

"Hey Sweet Girl," she beamed with arms wide open. Karen walked into them wordlessly hugging Olivia tight,

"What's going on?" Karen asked fearfully resting her chin on Olivia's shoulder not letting go.

"Oh baby," Olivia said as she gently pulled back to see Karen's eyes filled with unshed tears and anxiousness.

"You've been weird and unreachable all week, and that's not like you. Even when we talk you weren't really there, but you were trying so hard." she rambled worriedly,

"I'm sorry Sweetheart. I had a little scare this week," Olivia began to explain to her what had been going and watched the array of emotions that passed through her daughter's face.

"But, the most important thing is I'm okay. I really am. All clear. I'm just a little sore."

"I wish I had been here."

"I know sweet girl. I just didn't want to worry you guys until there was something to worry about."

"If you didn't think it was anything to worry about you would have told us, it's because you were scared it would be something and you didn't want to tell us unless you really had to." Karen replied calling her on it. Olivia chuckled and pulled her back into her arms.

"You and your brother are way to clever for my comfort,"

"You only have yourself to blame for that." Karen answered teasingly making Olivia laugh.

"I can't take all the credit for that. You are your father's children after all.

For the rest of the evening the Grant Five watched old movies all night, all five of them were snug Fitz and Olivia's bed. Fitz was glad that the kids had come home for the weekend knowing that without saying it out loud Olivia needed to have them all nearby. Fitz found himself staring at his wife. Grateful that their worst fears were not realized. That they still had their whole life time to look forward to. Olivia sensed Fitz gaze on her smiled at him as she caught his eyes. His eyes conveyed all that she felt, and she nodded in agreement. Thankful that she would get a chance to watch her children grow up. To grow old with Fitz outside the limelight and just be Liv and Fitz. She reached behind their three kids who sat between and Fitz met her hand halfway with his giving it a reassuring squeeze. With his term almost over, they could make plans for what was to come. With their house in Vermont already lived in, they couldn't wait to make their lifetime of memories in there.

AN: Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to review and share your feedback. For your encouragement, I so appreciate it and all of you. You will never know just how much your support has meant to me. Maybe one day, I can write a sequel for this story, because they are who I imagine Olivia and Fitz to always be. I have fallen in love with them just as you have. Thank you for sharing the journey with me.
