Chapter 8 Faece Off, Champion or Bust

Bo unceremoniously dumped Kenzi on the old beaten up couch, the goth was communing with the dead in her drunken-beyond-belief state. She was so passed out and there was nothing on earth that would be able to awaken the tiny human. Bo sighed and couldn't help but to smile sympathetically down at her bestie, she truly loved the girl. Though tonight's stunt was a major mood kill. Well, the mood was already dying before Kenzi had kicked the door open. Lauren was the one who broke the kiss, the one with all these mixed up emotions. What was it that was freaking out the doctor? Lauren was the one who had kissed her, which Bo wasn't complaining about, yet something with the way Lauren had said 'it wasn't supposed to happen' had put up another wall of confusion to break through. Bo was lost before but now she was outright befuddled. She wanted to know what it was that Lauren tried to tell her before Kenzi bulldozed her way into the restroom.

After helping Kenzi and keeping her hair up during her vomiting, Lauren had left to get the poor girl some water. While nervously rambling on over scientific facts about dehydration. Once the goth emptied her stomach and passed out Bo tried to talk to Lauren again, while the rest of the gang helped Kenzi get into the yellow Camaro. They stood there awkwardly, Lauren was embarrassed still and Bo was still feeling horny as hell and shameful for it since this was clearly not the time for her Fae libido to be rearing it's head.

Neither of them managed to break the awkwardness and talk about what had happened.

So here Bo was, making Kenzi comfortable on the couch. Wondering where the hell she and the Champion stood in this ever confusing relationship they were in.

Lauren sat on the edge of her bed, unable to sleep. The trials would start tomorrow, but instead of panicking over it she was here rewinding the heated kiss she was swept in with Bo a few hours ago. It was insane how she just grabbed Bo and kissed her like a hormonal teen. Lauren felt mortified, but by the gods, it also felt so good to kiss the Succubus. She can't deny it, that may be the best kiss she had experienced thus far in her life. Even so, it shouldn't have ever happened. Well, the way it happened should not have occurred at least. Their first kiss was in the restroom of a damn pub, not exactly how she pictured the whole scene in her mind.

If Lauren was honest with herself, she really didn't have a specific romantic moment with Bo for their first kiss in mind. The kiss was amazing, more than anything she had imagined. It was just that it didn't really convey her true feelings for Bo. She was sure the kiss screamed raging hormones, sexual frustration and how utterly pissed off she was with the woman. She hadn't planned for it to convey anything either, and neither was it planned to happen in any way. It wasn't like it was a serious declaration of love.

Lauren snorted out loud, shaking her head at that last thought. "Love."

She sighed heavily and threw herself back to lay down on the bed, she stared up at the ceiling thoughtfully. She doesn't regret the kiss, if things went south tomorrow that may have been the first and last kiss she'd share with Bo. She just wished she had more time with the Succubus, to tell her how she felt. Maybe Kenzi was right, she should have chased Bo and fought harder to be with her. Even if it was for a short time.

Lauren could die tomorrow.

No, she can't think like this again.

She'll pass, and she'll get that time she wants with Bo. For now she needed to put her feelings back in lock down, she needed to focus in order to win this.

She forced her eyes closed in an attempt to sleep, and all she could see were flashes of that damned kiss with Bo.

Fenrir give her strength.

The Day of Trials, at the Light Fae Compound

The whole gang was waiting outside of Lauren's office, they have been escorting her around to ensure no one dared mess with her while she finished tying up loose ends. Making sure the doctors here were up to date with her work and all cases were organized, this was being done in the event if something were to happen to Lauren. Someone needed to be on top of her work.

Bo watched through the glass window, she was practically looking at Lauren with heart eyes. She had yet been able to get over the intense kiss the two of them shared last night. She felt horrible for thinking about it, today was an important day and Lauren's life was at risk. Here Bo was thinking about one stupidly long, hot kiss.

The constant ogling Bo was doing caused Kenzi to roll out some dry remarks.

"If you stare any longer I'm sure her clothes would burst into flames."

"Can you blame me? I didn't know the Doctor could rock leather so damn good." Was Bo's comment as her eyes glued onto said leather-rocking-doctor.

Kenzi glances over to Lauren, making a thoughtful expression as she appraised the fellow human's outfit. It certainly made the point across that Lauren was ready for battle. As well the goth had to admit, Doctor Freeze did look hot. The dark blue leather jacket fitted Lauren perfectly, underneath it she wore a simple white v-neck shirt. A belt fastened her black pants, clinging to shapely legs that stepped around in black combat boots that were laced up tight mid-calf. Let's not forget the sword strapped to her back, safely sheathed.

Cassandra was sitting casually in a chair in the waiting area, she had an amused smirk on her face as she watched Bo eye her daughter. As a mother she should feel a bit uncomfortable at the sight of someone staring at Lauren like a piece of steak, but in the back of her mind she had to feel like something must have happened last night in the restroom to cause such a blatant stare coming from the usually subtle Succubus. Cause boy, oh boy, was Bo looking a bit longingly at Lauren. The idea of her daughter having a special admirer tickled Cassandra pink. Finally, something positive was brewing from within all this doom and gloom they were in for today.

Dyson shook his head, there was nothing he could say. He had told Bo to stay away from Lauren, and he was sure last night was a clear violation of their agreement. Now seeing Bo openly drooling over his sister gave him that over protective brother vibe again, but he refrained from acting on it. Today was too important to start anything, he allowed Bo space to breathe. As far as he knows she had not hurt his sister, yet. So there was no reason to be hostile, still... He felt the need to at least clear his throat loud enough to get her attention.

Bo inwardly groaned and turned to give Dyson a tight lipped smile. She was really starting to dislike the wolf-shifter, though she had no right to judge him for acting the way he was.

Even if it seemed unreasonable at times, it still held reason. After the way she had treated Dyson, looking out for his sister to steer her clear from the same fate was not uncalled for. If Bo was in his shoes, she would have done the same thing as he had. That was the thing though, she wasn't in his shoes. The only one who knew what Bo's intentions are with Lauren was Bo herself. Too bad for 'big bro' she wasn't going to maintain her distance from Lauren, at least not in the way Dyson had told her to. She wondered how he would have reacted if he had seen the way Lauren kissed her. He can't exactly blame Bo if Lauren was the one who initiated physical contact. It was one thing not touching Lauren, it was an entirely different story if the Champion was the one touching her. When she experienced that kiss last night, she was somewhat certain that some feelings may be involved in this. There was a definite infatuation, with all the Succubus ju-ju included. Fae bullshit aside, this was more than just infatuation. There may be some insecurities within Bo, even so she was willing to find out where this all could take her. Anything to destroy the massive wall of awkwardness that was between them. Now for the million dollar question.

Is the timing good?

No, the timing absolutely blows.

Though it didn't matter, because to bare out one's thoughts and emotions is no easy task.

The only perfect time for it, is to express it the moment it's felt.

And Bo has been feeling a lot, and clearly Lauren has been too. She can't play the clueless card forever, and Lauren can't play the 'let's talk about it some other time' card forever either. And certainly no drunken Kenzi's would be popping in for a third time to interrupt what would more than likely be a massive breakthrough in whatever relationship status Bo and Lauren were in.

Speaking of which.

Lauren finally stepped out of the office, fiddling with the sword sheathe strap that crossed over her shoulder. "Okay, looks like we're good to go."

Cassandra stood up and took hold of Lauren's hand, "Honey, you do know that all of these arrangements you've done for the clinic is completely unnecessary, right?"

"It's only a precaution, mom." Lauren squeezed her mother's hand with assurance, "Believe me, I'm not planning on dying."

Bo smiled secretly at Lauren's strong tone, the air of confidence the Champion was giving off sent a wave of comfort over her.

"Atta' girl!" Kenzi hollered, throwing up gang signs, "The Badass Doctor is in, ready to prescribe a can of whoop-ass!"

Everyone was ready to roll out.

Time to end this charade once and for all.

They want to see the true strength of Fenrir's Champion? The Fae will get more than what they bargained for.

Aife watched as the Sunshine Gang pulled up near the Glass Factory.

Her red lips smiled knowingly when she witnessed her daughter step out of her beaten up muscle car. Of course Bo would be here, after all the things she had seen her do for the human doctor, it would have been surprising if she hadn't showed up. Aife made a side note to herself: Pull her daughter by the ear the chance she was alone with her. She hadn't forgotten about Bo's slip up, she had seen it all happen and had hoped for Bo to come to seek for her guidance, instead the little brat kept it a secret from her. Aife was not all too pleased, but she had cut Bo some slack. There was work she needed to finish and she was sure Bo had her own hands full training the Champion. Whom was still a huge mystery to Aife, from everything she had found out about Lauren there were still a lot of question marks floating around the human. Enhanced strength and speed, the sudden power to control ice.

Nothing about this Fenrir's chosen Champion was making any sense.

It even had Evony's tasteful panties in a knot. Something she had not thought was possible. If the Morrigan was worried, everyone should be worried. That was a fact Aife had learned many years ago when she worked for the Dark Fae leader in the past. She wondered what it was that Evony was waiting to go wrong with the Champion, or maybe it wasn't something the human would do. Maybe it was something that would happen to Lauren instead. Aife couldn't figure it out, though she knew enough to trust the Morrigan's judgement. Evony relied on her instincts, and those same instincts are one of the many traits that got her the position of Dark leader.

So for now Aife will continue to observe.

Sinking into the shadows of the factory she walked deeper within it's walls.

She needed to find a good spot to sit and watch what was certainly going to be one interesting trial.

Outside of the Glass Factory…

Bo didn't think she would come back to this place, only now she wasn't the one being put through the trials. She was delivering Lauren to this place for her own trial, though the outcome would be something that affected the worlds of both Fae and humans. The group were all staring up at the imposing, and abandoned building. Nothing but mold and rust, yet even in that state the place did not fail to bring some dread into their hearts. Lauren was keeping her cool and appeared calm as ever on the outside, but on the inside she was terrified. Bo didn't need to see Lauren's aura to know that, to help raise her spirits Bo nudged her by the side with an elbow.

"I've been here before, ya know. Trust me, the place isn't so bad. You'll be fine." Bo offered some comforting words to her.

Lauren responded with a grateful, yet nervous smile. "I know you were. Who didn't hear about the unaligned Succubus that conquered the Underfae here?"

"Hey, I was there too. Saw some pretty gnarly stuff, not gonna lie I was practically shitting—" Kenzi stopped when Bo gave her a disapproving look, "Shutting up now."

"If I did it, so can Lauren." Bo looked away from Kenzi and back to Lauren, placing a hand on her shoulder as she continued on. "I'll be old news. Soon everyone will hear about how the human among wolves conquered the Underfae." She winked at Lauren as an extra push to lighten the mood.

"History in the making, baby! Woo!" Kenzi celebrated with a fist pump, now excited at the thought of a fellow human taking names in the arena and showing these Fae what humans are made of.

Cassandra smiled at the goth's antics, she as well was nervous but confident that her daughter was most certainly going to achieve exactly that.

History.

Not only will she accomplish that but she will in turn get total freedom to do as she pleases. Nothing else mattered to Cassandra but Lauren's freedom and happiness. That's what any mother would want for their children. She just hoped after this ordeal things will be easier, at least until the Garuda appears. As well, Cassandra had noticed a slight change with Dyson, she could tell he had grown closer to Lauren. Something she wanted for the longest time for the siblings to get along. Convincing her son to help Lauren train might have been the perfect call.

Dyson pulled Lauren aside for a moment, ignoring Bo's hesitation in releasing her hold on the Champion's shoulder.

"Hey…" He started somewhat awkwardly.

"Hi…" Lauren said back just as awkward, still waiting to hear what her brother was about to say.

"I know we have never seen eye to eye and that I never was the best elder brother to you but…" He cleared his throat, "If things get dicey, even after the trials, I'll stop it and pull you out of danger. I wouldn't trust the 'fairness' of it all even after you pass." There was no telling what plans the Fae had for Lauren after the trials, if there was anything Dyson has learned about their own kind is that they always have ulterior motives behind everything they do.

Lauren was taken aback by her brother's implications that there may be foul play at the end of it all. It may be wise to keep her guard up, paranoia settling in on the back of her mind.

"Point taken…" She nodded, before she left Dyson's side she turned and gave him a warm smile. "Thank you."

It was nice knowing that her brother really does care, even if it's a little bit.

Hale also stepped up to her and provided some moral support, "Yo, Doc. Just wanted to tell you that I'm rooting for you. Toughest human I have ever met. Well, besides Kenzi." He patted her back firmly after Lauren expressed her appreciation. She always thought Hale was an exceptional man, and an amazing friend.

Ciara was next in line, she had a bright smile on her face. She didn't look worried at all, as though this will be an easy thing and no casualties will occur in the end. She had that much faith in Lauren and seeing that from the Warrior Fairy gave another boost for the human Champion.

She started, "Ciara, I—Oof!"

Suddenly Lauren felt the air was being squeezed out of her lungs when a pair of arms wrapped themselves around her for a strong embrace.

Ciara was hugging her like there was no tomorrow, "Please be careful, mind your training. Oh, what am I saying! You know what to do, you are more than prepared."

Lauren returned the hug but still protested against her oxygen supply being cut off. "Ciara… I c-can't…breathe…"

The Warrior Fairy released Lauren from her hold, she smiled embarrassingly and apologized. She gave Lauren a few more words of encouragement, "You are strong, Lauren. You always have been, remember that." The human Champion smiled brightly at her friend's words.

The next one up was Vex, surprisingly.

The Mesmer was nonchalant in his blessings, in his own Vex-like way. "I don't need to give any uplifting speech of encouragement." He snorted, "I trained you, I know you'll win."

A wide smile spread across her face, "Aw, Vex... That's sweet of you, thank you."

Vex waved it off, then added, "By the by... I put a bet on you that you'd suplex one of your opponents."

"You did what?" Lauren blanched.

He advised Lauren with all seriousness, "You better do it, if you do I'll cut you in on the deal. Oh, make sure you also declare 'Are you all not entertained?!' like the badass you really are. I'd get an extra fifty for that." He winked before cackling and stepping away from Lauren's stammering.

Lauren couldn't believe the Dark Fae had placed bets on her for such a ludicrous action. When and how was she going to achieve a suplex during the trial? Vex is going to lose out on it, and he better hope he doesn't give her crap for it. Else she'd suplex him instead, swiftly into next week.

Cassandra laughed out loud as she approached her still seething daughter. Lauren looks at her and her expression softens immediately at the sight of her mother, when she saw her about to speak Lauren cut in hurriedly.

"I know what you're going to say, really. I'll be fine, mom. I'll pass and you'll be free from the Blood Oath. You don't need to worry about a thing. I promise to take you out for dinner and we can have some quality time, maybe do something else you'd like. Dyson could join us even, we'll have some family time and—"

"Well, what I was really going to say was good luck and that I'd meet you in the winner's circle."

"Oh..." Lauren smiled sheepishly at her mother's raised eyebrow.

Mama Wolf shook her head at her daughter's silliness. Lauren would tend to ramble when nervous, it was always a habit when her daughter was real young.

Cassandra took a long, fond look at her. Remembering the moments she had shared, the memories of Lauren as a child, to her teenage years and now to the grown woman she was today. A woman that was about to embark in a fight that would change her life forever. She sighed, her eyes misting over steadily. She grabbed Lauren and held her with all of her strength. Like it was the last time she'd ever hold her child, but she knew everything would be alright. With one last squeeze she pulled away and gave Lauren a bright smile before rubbing her tearing up eyes.

Cassandra explained she had to head inside and be by the Ash's side, since she is the main part of the Blood Oath. An odd rule, but she needed to be in close proximity to the Light Fae leader. Lauren nodded in understanding, her own eyes glistening with tears. She let her mother go and watched her enter the Glass Factory alone. Lauren breathed out deeply, reigning in her emotions. She had to remind herself that she will see her mother after the trials.

So why did everything feel like goodbye to her?

The Glass Factory was packed.

Even clans that were gathering here from the night Fenrir came were attending, and of course the wolf clan itself had come to witness the human among wolves make her appearance and fight for her life.

One would think this was about a long awaited festivity, with so many Fae both Light and Dark crammed up so closely in the same space. No, such a trivial thing would not bring them together in harmony. It was the mutual desire to see bloodshed that brought them all together here. It was curiosity as well, to find out just how qualified this human among wolves was to be Champion. The arena was covered by thin layers of dirt, surrounded by the Fae audience. Above the arena was another floor, where even more Fae stood there. More importantly where the Fae leaders were, the Ash and the Morrigan stood side by side. Along with Cassandra close behind, her face stoic as ever while the leaders spoke idle chit-chat to one another.

"Full house." Evony pointed out as she leaned her hands against the metal railing, gazing down at the Fae.

"So it would seem." The Ash hummed, hands behind his back. Looking sharp as ever in his all white suit.

"Should have arranged catering for this, I must say I'm a bit put off by the lack of champagne." The Dark Fae leader remarked with a huff.

The Ash narrowed his eyes at her, "Sorry to disappoint."

Evony ignored the Ash's dry apology, "Next time we start a pointless trial like this one, let my people arrange it."

"Pointless?" The Ash repeated in hidden confusion, "Whatever happened to seeking the Champion's protection once proven valid to the Elders?" He had not forgotten that day since then.

The Morrigan muttered under her breath before replying back, "It is pointless due to the fact that she really is chosen by Fenrir, and all of this is a complete waste of time. We're giving the Garuda more measure to awaken with this faux stage show all of us are wrapped up in."

The Ash said nothing to Evony's statement, he was fully aware of the redundancy this trial represented. There was no need for him to vocalize his opinion on the matter, really, the only thing that has him agreeing to it willingly without question-Despite the firm orders from the Elder Fae-was his personal reasons. He was just as curious as the rest of the Fae in finding out just how capable the Doctor really was. Of course, this was something he could have figured out on his own, given the fact of his authority over her.

As the minutes ticked by the Fae began to grow restless.

When would the Champion arrive? They began to chant, steadily the chanting became louder and louder. They were thirsty to witness bloodshed, it didn't matter from which side. If from the Underfae or from the Champion, they were here for a show. Just hearing them made Cassandra sick, just when had the Fae become so mindless and ignorant? This wasn't about a bloody match, it was about determining if the Champion's role was for a true reason. If the Garuda was in fact alive and heading their way.

Do they not understand that?

Meanwhile…

Lauren took in a deep breath, the gang were slowly walking down the hallways. The red lights were dim, and it was eerie walking through it. She can feel the walls vibrating from the loud stumping and chanting coming from the end of the hall beyond the steel double doors. The Fae were sure getting riled up, and she wasn't even there yet to greet the masses. Dyson was walking ahead, with Vex next to him. While the rest of the gang walked behind Lauren. They were all covering her back and front, like perfect bodyguards.

"We'll enter first. Take this moment to collect yourself, sis." Dyson suggested, opening one of the doors just slightly to allow Vex, Hale and the others to walk through.

Though Bo stopped in her steps, she looked to Lauren and noticed something was off. She turned to meet the wolf-shifter's inquiring gaze before stating, "Actually, Dyson, I'm going to stay with Lauren. Until she's ready to come out."

When Dyson was about to protest Bo shoved him out and slammed the door shut, effectively silencing him. She shook her head when she heard a muffled 'Damn it' behind the doors. Lauren missed the whole exchange, she was leaning against the wall slightly bent with hands on her knees. Adrenaline was pumping loudly in her ears, she felt her own pulse beating in time with the Fae's chant.

Death! Death! Death! Death!

She squeezed her eyes shut, a lone cold sweat ran down the side of her face.

Death.

Was that all that awaited for her behind those doors?

Her jaw clenched almost painfully.

She was losing it, she knew it all too well that she was losing her cool. Her breathing even became irregular, she needed to recover.

She can't go out like this. 'Calm down...Get a hold of yourself...Damn it, Lewis!' She chanted in her own head, hoping to block out the Fae's chant for death. It was hard to hold on to all of that confidence she had built all these days, and now it was crumbling down around her like it was nothing.

Lauren gasped audibly when soft hands cupped her cheeks, she looked up to see Bo's gentle gaze. Her anxiety seemed to melt away instantly, she stood up straight her eyes never leaving Bo's. She felt her chest warm when Bo hadn't removed her hands, all Lauren could do was stay there leaning back against the wall.

"Hey there, tiger. You still with me?" Bo whispered, her thumbs caressing over Lauren's cheek in a gentle motion.

Lauren tried to nod but refrained from doing so, fearing that Bo would take her hands back from her face. "Bo, t-talk to me. Talk about anything."

Bo thought for a moment, "Okay… What were you going to say to me last night? Right before Kenzilla busted in on us like it was Tokyo city."

The two of them shared a laugh, Lauren seemed to relax a bit at Bo's laid back attitude. Her mind clearing up from the panic attack she was on the verge of having, she breathed out steadily and reached up to hold onto Bo's wrists. Her own thumbs rubbing circles against the top of Bo's hands. The two of them forgot about their childish argument from last night, guessing it would be preventing any mortifying conversations on the whole scenario. It was best to talk about the emotions at the end of it all, after the unexpected kiss they shared. Bo was waiting patiently for Lauren to speak, she held back a shiver when she felt Lauren's touch around her wrists. Maybe it was a bad idea to bring it up now of all times, but Bo had no idea what else to talk about besides the mystery that is their relationship. Which was still confusing as hell to the Succubus.

Lauren glanced down at her boots, still holding onto Bo's wrists she gingerly removed the hands that cupped her cheeks. She held them against her chest, not missing the way Bo held her breath at the gesture.

"Isn't it obvious?" Lauren questioned.

"I guess I'm slow on the upkeep, Champ..." Bo breathed out, her eyes trained on the blonde as if in a trance.

This was it, this was the moment Lauren has been waiting for.

She subconsciously looked around for a drunk Kenzi, then mentally kicked herself. Of course Kenzi wasn't going to pop in during a drunken haze. That is not a concern right now. Lauren's concern was this beautiful woman in front of her, she could see just how vulnerable Bo looked at this very moment. The way Bo was looking at her almost rendered Lauren down to her knees. There was a mixture of hope, longing and fear. Was Bo afraid of what Lauren is feeling for her? The idea saddened Lauren.

She couldn't do this now, not when she was a few steps away from the trial. Horrible timing seems to be habit forming with her friends. Why does everything have to be so wishy-washy?

It's all so 'Damned if they do, damned if they don't.'

'Should they, could they, would they.'

"Lauren."

"Y-Yes?" The human Doctor almost jumped out of her skin when Bo had called out to her, but more so at the fact Bo now freed her hand from her hold. Bo had now placed them on her shoulders, gripping them firmly.

"Don't you think about avoiding the subject." Bo scolded, but her tone was light and gentle. There was a hint of demand behind it as well, Bo was making sure Lauren was listening to what she was saying.

"We're not training right now. You aren't seeing any patients today and you aren't caught up in meetings with the Ash. Those douche bag Fae out there can wait for this damn trial just a bit longer."

The doctor raised her eyebrows slightly, surprised at Bo's sternness. She allowed the other woman to continue not at all curious in finding out what she'd do if interrupted.

"Just spill already, what is it that has you so tightly wound up?"

Lauren sighed and gave her a sympathetic smile, "Bo, you're a distraction. There's nothing in this world that I'd like to do more than just tell you everything, but I can't. I don't want to mess things up, there is so much at risk." She explained, helplessly lost in her own logic.

Bo felt the corner of her lip lift slightly, "I'm a distraction?" She poked at it, trying to get more details as to why and how she was distracting Lauren.

The Doctor rolled her eyes, "You know exactly what I meant by that, don't make me say it."

"Well, let's not make me a distraction then." Bo brought up thoughtfully, leaning further into Lauren. They were now chest to chest, their hips lightly touching.

'I feel like you're doing the opposite of what you are saying…' Lauren thought, her breath getting caught in her throat.

She was sure Lauren was feeling some excitement but she dared not allow her Succubus side to take a peek. No matter how bright Lauren's aura burned. Right now this was Bo the human talking to Lauren, and there was no room for her other self.

Bo smiled wide, "Let me be your anchor instead. Look to me when you're feeling lost, I'll find you and keep you grounded when things go crazy."

She was determined to do what was necessary to uplift Lauren, she wasn't going to hurt her over whatever unresolved feelings they have for one another. She vowed to put that aside and focus on helping the Champion, but at the same time caring for her the way she knew Lauren needed. No more cold shoulders, no more awkward silence and avoiding one another.

This was Bo being a true companion to the Champion. To be at her side in each battle and lend her own arm in Lauren's struggle. That was something that needed to come first. Succubus libido and infatuation aside. Bo was Lauren's companion, her guide and shield. Maybe when things slowed down, she could become more than just that to the other woman. That was something Bo was willing to wait for, and doing this now for Lauren would show her just how willing Bo was. She just had to take Lauren's word for it and give her the time she needed.

Lauren felt her jaw drop slightly, she was yet again surprised at Bo's words. She looked into Bo's eyes and the sincerity in them was immense, so deep that Lauren was drowning in it. It felt like swimming in warm waters and Lauren was allowing herself to sink in it. With Bo being pressed up against her, and the honesty that flowed out of the Succubus' mouth. Lauren hadn't even noticed she was slowly leaning in to brush lips over Bo's, to which they were stopped by a finger pressing against them.

"As much as I'd like to… It's best that we hold off on it." Bo said, breathing out with longing. "I want you to tell me everything, but I don't want to be a distraction like you said. I want to be your support. So, for now…"

"I'll pass the trials and come to you. To talk." Lauren smiled bright and nodded while removing Bo's hand from her shoulder gingerly.

They gazed at one another for what seemed like more than an eternity.

Lauren pushed herself off the wall and made her way towards the double doors, she turned to give Bo one last look before reaching out to grip the handle.

There was a new sense of strength and resolve building up within Lauren, something that had been missing all along. Or maybe it had been there all along, and only now she realized it when she opened up to Bo. The one thing she needed to push her into the incoming fray and overcome whatever challenges that headed her way.

Without any further hesitations and without any doubts she pushed the double doors open, momentarily blinded by the light behind and ears filling with the loud roars of the Fae crowd.

The Champion had finally showed herself.

Fae backed up to make way for the Champion as she walked through the crowd, she could see the rest of the gang along the path while they kept their sights on her and their surroundings.

Lauren stepped further to make it into the circle, she stood at the center and glanced up to meet the judging gaze of the Fae Leaders.

The Ash raised a hand up, silencing the rowdy audience. His deep voice boomed loud enough for everyone to hear.

"Fae, Light and Dark. My brothers and sisters." He began to announce, while gesturing down at Lauren. "I give you the human among wolves, Fenrir's chosen one. Our… Champion."

The crowd roared loud once more, a mixture of cheers and booing were thrown around Lauren. It was almost dizzying. So many were against her, yet there were more who took her side. Lauren had not thought about some Fae wishing her success, some were in fact worried about the threat that is the Garuda. And they were holding onto hope that Lauren is able to save them all, just as Fenrir had intended.

The Light Fae leader continued on, "Today we test her, to prove once and for all if she is the true Champion. If she truly is capable of saving us all from the 'pending' danger."

"Adding too much hype there, buddy." Kenzi mumbled silently, not liking the way he was escalating the situation more.

"Before we begin, there is one small detail we need to address."

The Ash mentioned, his sights lingering over to the sword hilt that was visible from behind Lauren's shoulder.

Taking the hint, Lauren unbuckled the strap and removed the sheathed weapon from her back. At this Bo made a step forward and was ready to protest, but Dyson had gripped her shoulder and stopped her. He explained to Bo that this needed to happen, if the trials required Lauren to proceed without the sword the Champion had to cooperate. Lauren was being tested, not the sword itself. It would only show Lauren's weakness without wielding the sword if she relied on it too much, it only made more sense to have her tested without it. As hard as it is, they had no say in the matter. Lauren herself knew that very well, and was willing to put her weapon away.

She unsheathed the blade and stabbed it into the dirt floor with ease. Lauren was not concerned about anyone daring to take the blade, even if they tried it was already known that the blade's weight is tenfold for the un-chosen to be able to wield. Lauren looked up the Ash and the Morrigan, showing to them she had laid out the sword and was ready to begin.

The Morrigan was inwardly impressed at Lauren's cool exterior. It was now her turn to speak up.

"Courtesy of yours truly, armaments shall be provided to you." The Morrigan waved a manicured hand up, gesturing to her minions to bring it in.

A rack of weapons was wheeled into the circle for Lauren to choose. There were axes, swords, maces and other varieties of ancient medieval armory. It would be the only weapon she'd use for the entirety of the trials, she knew her choice must be wise. She instinctively reached for what she thought was practical and light for her to use with ease, it was perfect for her since she was a novice still despite the vigorous training. Though Lauren had read a few books relating these types of knives, she had some idea. Enough to know she could work with this with some efficiency.

Bo smiled when she saw Lauren pick out the dual short daggers off the rack, it was the same type of weapon she had chosen during her own trial when she was discovered by the Fae a few years ago. She took that as a good sign, and had even more confidence that Lauren was going to pass without any problems. She just had to see this as a good omen, it just has to be.

"The Champion has chosen her weapons, let the trials begin. The best of luck to you, Lauren Lewis." The Ash nodded down to the human, his words seeming genuine this time with his personal blessings.

Lauren swallowed, some tension grew within her. The trials have started and here she was now waiting for an Underfae to appear. Another moment passed, the crowd's roaring had even silenced over time. Still nothing had occurred, but even so Lauren took a defensive stance with the daggers angled and gripped firmly onto the hilts. She felt something was coming, but there wasn't any visual on whatever 'it' was. She was certain there was a shift in the air near her space, as if someone or something else was sharing the same air as she was. Then a force had knocked her down with violent intent, she scrambled back to her feet and panted out.

'Great. Start me off with an invisible Underfae, no need to go easy on me the first round.' Lauren groaned out mentally, but on the outside she kept herself cool.

Her eyes scanned around her close surroundings with unease, she couldn't even see the creature's steps on the sandy floors. Only her own clumsy footprints were visible in the circle she was trapped in. Maybe it wasn't invisible, it could be literally just a force of some kind. What Underfae is capable of such a thing? If she could figure out what she was up against, maybe she'd feel less nervous and perhaps even find a way a to beat it. As her mind raced she was hit yet again, this time she stood her ground and was not knocked down flat on her ass. Though it was one hell of a punch, her head threw back with a pained grunt. She flipped her blonde hair back away from her eyes and glared around. Whatever it was it was surely pissing her off, a headache came on, and it was not due to the impact. She breathed out and shook her head, doing her best to calm herself. Why was she losing her temper now of all times? This was in no way a coincidence, she could only guess the Garuda was taking this moment to mess with her. The very thought of it caused her anger to growl low within her being but she didn't allow it to overflow.

As her anger was mere inches from reaching it's peak before she could calm it, everything began to slow for a split second. Her eyes glanced to the side and there she saw it, a gloved fist was heading straight for her. Bo and the rest of the gang watched with apprehension, it was hard to stand still while their friend was struggling. Bo's fists would clench tighter and tighter each time Lauren took damage, she tried her best to keep her mind clear. Bo knew that the Champion will be able to pull through somehow, she had to make herself believe it. Otherwise she would be inside that circle with Lauren fighting alongside the Champion, but she knew that would only ruin things. Like Lauren said, there was way too much at risk. Cassandra's freedom was also on the line. She was sure Lauren wouldn't forgive her if Bo interfered and destroyed whatever chance Cassandra has of avoiding the Blood Oath with the Ash. Even with all of that in mind, Bo was increasingly growing more and more worried as the fight went on.

Dyson as well was finding it difficult doing nothing but watch his little sister get pushed around like this, his teeth were bare as his wolf rumbled in his throat. No one would hear him, not with all the loud screams from the surrounding Fae who were very invested in this fight. If things continue like the way they are, he would be left not choice but to interfere.

Cassandra kept her eyes trained on Lauren, she could see exactly what was going on. She hoped her daughter would figure it out soon, otherwise Lauren will only get beaten around like nothing. Cassandra had faith that Lauren will pull through, but she was unsure if she is able to endure witnessing her own daughter fight for her life any further. This was just the first round of the trials, how much dread will creep up around her heart today?

Another grunt of pain escaped Lauren as she yet again took a hit, she staggered backwards in shock at both the punch and at the creature that revealed itself finally. Or perhaps her enhanced had finally decided to heighten at this moment. Whatever the case, she could now see what has been pushing her around. This Fae wasn't invisible, it was extremely fast to the point of missing it if one just as much as blinked.

She was facing off against a Goblin.

It's skin was a sickly reddish yellow color, standing just a few inches taller with elongated ears and tusk-like fangs jutting out from it's bottom lip, it's form clad in black leathers. It was huffing subtly with each breath, cracking its knuckles excited.

Lauren's mind summarized what she knew about Goblins. Besides the obvious enhanced speed, Goblins have inhuman strength, which would explain the amount of pain each punch it landed on her. As well some Goblins can have magical abilities, something that can be very unpredictable and dangerous. She needed to approach this carefully, she knew what she was up against but the odds of her winning was becoming slim by the second. Statistically a Goblin could even give her brother a hard time, which leaves the conclusion that it may mortally hurt Lauren or even kill her if she wasn't cautious. Her thought process did not go too far, not when her enemy prevented her from having any space and time to even think.

The Goblin charged towards her with a high kick, she barely avoided the heel of it's black boot, she almost felt the edge of it graze her chin. Lauren allowed herself to fall into the adrenaline rush and dashed towards the Goblin with daggers in hand, she extended her arms in a flurry of swipes. Each stab and slice missed it's mark, no matter how fast she went at the Goblin it managed to disappear and reappear at either of her side, and even behind her. Every missed opportunity in slicing up or stabbing the Goblin angered Lauren more. Her eyes flashed green, a violent sneer formed on her face.

She twirled the daggers in her hands with expertise, now holding the hilts of the daggers outward rather than the blades. She waited for the Goblin to charge at her instead, perhaps she could counter an attack if she was quick about it. The Goblin jumped, with a twirl he threw out another barrage of kicks. Lauren did her best in blocking each one as fast as she could, she was almost matching its speed with her reaction time. Yet the last two impacts kicked off her weapons from both of her hands, leaving her unarmed and vulnerable to more attacks from the Goblin. Just as another kick landed against her collarbone, Lauren immediately grabbed the Goblin's ankle, an animalistic snarl erupted from the back of her throat as she twisted all of the Goblin's weight and spun it's whole body over to land painfully on the ground. The crowd cheered at the display of strength the Champion had made, both sides of Light and Dark delightfully surprised by the sudden comeback. Out of the audience, Kenzi was the loudest in cheering.

"Hellz yeah, mamasita! Show that bitch who's Champion!"

"Kick it's orange-ass!"

Ciara screamed a bit too loudly next to Kenzi, the veins on her neck were practically popping at the exertion. Her face had even gone red for a moment, a rise of temperature from the excitement. This made the human stare wide eyed in shock at the usually prim and proper Warrior Fairy. Seeing the look Kenzi was giving her, Ciara coughed and smoothed out the wrinkles on her jacket and corrected her posture. Reverting back to being elegant and graceful like usual, as if she hadn't just shouted like a drunken bar patron seeking to start a fight.

Just as the Goblin stood up, Lauren without a second thought lounged for it. Her arms firmly wrapped around the waist and bent her knees and leaned back just the right way as she pulled the Goblin off it's feet. Her strength grew while she performed the move, the top of the Fae's head crashed soundly against the floor right as Lauren suplexed him with the intensity of a wrestler. Vex let out an almost girlish squeal when Lauren rolled off the ground with arms outstretched towards the Fae leaders with the taunt. Using the same exact words he had instructed her to do. Bouncing as he witnessed the epic scene, he slapped the Fae next to him behind their shoulder while his free hand was held out in eagerness.

"Hoo-hoo-hoo! Pay up, a bet's a bet!"

Vex greedily took the cash out of the other Fae's hand, who was begrudgingly mumbling a few curses under their breath.

The Goblin had stood up, stunned and disoriented from the unexpected grapple it had been caught in. Lauren had this chance to reach down for her daggers, but she decided not to. She didn't need them, hell, she didn't need Fenrir's sword either. She had her own two hands, she could beat down the Goblin without any weapons offered to her. Lauren took three long steps, noting the one step back the creature took at her advancements.

She wasn't going to let up now.

Upper-cutting the Goblin right below the chin, a tusk was chipped upon impact when it forced it's mouth shut. Lauren grabbed it by the leathers and swung it over towards the side, her free hand was cocked back into a fist. She smashed it directly into the Goblin's nose, a crunching effect resonated loud enough for a few Fae to wince at the sound.

She punched the Goblin again, and again. She knew their kind were resilient, she can't hold back. Her booted foot kicked the creature across the face, it stumbled back on wobbling legs. Lauren took this moment to turn and whip another kick, using the momentum to snap the back of her heel into the Goblin's jaw. Effectively knocking out a tooth, and the Goblin in one swift motion. It fell against the floor, a mist of dirt lifted up around the unconscious or possibly dead body.

There was no telling, but one thing was certain. Lauren had just beaten the first round of the trials.

The Fae crowd roared around her, very few showed their disapproval of her win. It didn't bother her though, she stood there in awe as she had realized for herself that she had indeed won her first fight in the trials. And in the process, she had won over a large portion of the Fae audience.

The gang breathed out in relief, as well did Cassandra. Although Kenzi seemed more hyper-active rather than calmed, as if she had no worries beforehand. She was fist bumping into the air, and did a little jig that could only be described as the cabbage-patch. Hale too was impressed by the Doctor's victory, mostly at the getting beaten up part and standing back up without giving in. He clapped his hands before placing fingers in his mouth and whistled loud over the Fae's collective clapping. If he hadn't seen Lauren in a different light before, he sure did now.

The rising anger Lauren felt had dissipated, her headaches long gone as if it wasn't there to begin with. She subconsciously rubbed the side of her forehead, she needs to be more careful from here on out. If she makes it through the second and last round of the trials, she needed to tell the rest what has been happening to her. She mentally prayed to Fenrir to give her the calm mind she needed to overcome this foreign rage that was subtly taking over her. Out of all the times she had felt this, today was the most intense she had experienced.

The Ash and the Morrigan exchanged glances with one another, agreeing that this round was completed. It was time to move on to the next and final round.

Evony jerked her head at the help, signaling to them to clear the Goblin's body from out of the circle. Lauren walked over and bent down to pick up her daggers, she was still feeling the rush of power coursing through her but she was sure she was under control completely this time. This time she was going to handle whatever was coming her way with a leveled head.

Just as the thought had crossed her mind, adjacent from where she was in the center, the thick circle of the Fae crowd parted and made way for something. Lauren could hear a soft rumbling sound as an Underfae went through the path and into the circle.

"Holy shit…" Bo whispered under her breath as it got caught in her lungs.

"Okay, that has got to be cheating. Right?" Kenzi glanced back to Dyson, who was looking paler than her.

"Right?!" Kenzi asked him again, but received no response. Her powder blue eyes were wide with fear when she turned back to see the thing Lauren was about to fight.

The monster was hovering before Lauren, it's stone body burning and molting hot with flames. It roared at her just as the flames covering it's form burned brighter and larger. The Champion stared back at it with amazement, which was also mixed with panic. This being was of obvious magical conjuring, the small daggers in her hands were certain to be useless against it.

Cassandra could not contain herself, she stood up next to the Ash with angry eyes and demanded answers, "What in the Gods' name are we doing? First a Goblin, now a Cherufe? Who picked out the Underfae for this trial?!"

The Ash gave Cassandra a side glance, "I know you are upset—"

"That's an understatement." Cassandra added with a snap.

"—You must understand that Lauren is a unique case, if she is indeed chosen then a basic trial would not do her justice." He tried to explain, though he knew no words would ever calm a disgruntled mother like Cassandra.

"So you send out a powerful Underfae like that without any kind of magical support for her? That's impossible, even for a Champion!" Cassandra protested with urgency.

If anyone knew the odds of beating a Cherufe one on one, it was Cassandra. She had been around long enough to know that Lauren wasn't going to make it.

"Call it off, now."

The Ash raised an eyebrow at the woman, "You do know that what you are asking of will cost you your freedom, do you not?"

Cassandra did not care, she felt no shame in losing this Blood Oath with the Ash. What made her feel worse was doubting Lauren's ability to beat this one Underfae, but as it turned out this one Underfae was capable of killing her daughter with only a graze. What was a mother to think? If she knew there was a way to save Lauren, and even spare her any further pain, Cassandra was willing to sell not just her own freedom for it but her very soul. Any mother would do so for their children, she was no different.

The Ash could see Cassandra had made up her mind. Even so, he shook his head.

"It is not my place to stop the trials. Only the Champion is able to do this, she must forfeit if you wish for this to end."

Lauren gripped her daggers, her arms shook a bit from the overuse of strength and from the sight of the Cherufe in front of her. She snapped her eyes upwards when she heard the unmistakable voice of her mother call out for her.

"Lauren!" Cassandra was leaning over the railing, white knuckled hands gripping the metal. She could see Lauren looking up at her with a startled expression, it made it difficult for Cassandra to say the next words.

"Lauren, throw the fight!"

"What?" Lauren responded back in disbelief.

Cassandra shook her head, "Honey, please! You've done great, but you don't need to sacrifice your life like this. Listen to me, you have to forfeit!"

"No way, I'm not letting you become a slave!" The Champion yelled back without a beat, just as she did a ball of fire was thrown her way. She had ducked away from it just in time, but it was a close hit. She felt the heat almost burning her skin just when it was mere inches away from her head.

"It's not just about me!" Cassandra protested further, "If you die, then everyone does. Think about how valuable your life is, you're the only one who can hold that sword!"

"I can do this. I'm not backing out!" Lauren snapped back, dodge rolling another fireball from the Cherufe.

"Of all the times you decide to be a disobedient child, you choose now to ignore my advice?!"

"I'm not forfeiting!" Lauren once more yelled, with finality this time.

Bo watched Cassandra push herself away from the railing, running a hand through her hair in a very Lauren-like fashion. Now she knew where Lauren got that gesture from, she hadn't really noticed how similar Lauren and Cassandra were. Like mother, like and daughter, they were both stubborn. The rest of the gang had been watching the whole scenario between them, a few of the other Fae paid no mind and were mostly engrossed in watching the Cherufe steam and flare up with each blast it shot at the Champion.

The Succubus had to admit, from the short time she had known Cassandra she had never, not once ever had she seen the older woman lose her cool like this. Bo turned to Dyson, trying her best not to flinch at every bright flash the Cherufe caused with it's fire.

"Do I want to know why your mom is freaking the hell out?" Bo dreaded asking.

Dyson did not spare a glance to her as he spoke, "That thing can instantly kill Lauren if it as much as touches her. Cherufe's are able to cause an immediate spontaneous combustion with just a touch on skin, even by just a hair."

"Who the hell dumps a level 10 Goblin and then throws a monster-ass level 50 hunk of flaming rocks the next?" Kenzi commented, her eyes bouncing back and forth from fireballs to Lauren dodging them like a boss.

"Someone who isn't underestimating blondie." Vex this time spoke up, joining up with the gang amongst the crowd.

"Well, they were right to." Ciara said with confidence, "We've all collectively trained Lauren, it was going to be a sure pass. No questioning it."

Though now with a Cherufe in the mix of it all, there was a sliver of doubt sneaking up inside all of their hearts.

"Oh, please. You're all worrying over nothing."

Aife approached them, her smile in place. Bo eyed her warily, the gears in her head already turning.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Bo questioned with genuine confusion.

"Are you kidding me?" Aife arched an eyebrow at her Baby-Succubus, "Every Fae and their mother are out here to witness the Champion's performance." She joked, trying to lighten the mood.

Aife's daughter rolled her eyes and responded with some sarcasm, "I can see that, obviously."

Bo wasn't interested in entertaining her mother, she was too preoccupied with current events. Her gaze fell back on the Champion, worry written all over her face when she saw Lauren just barely move away from the Cherufe's advancements. It was now taking swings at Lauren with it's stone arms.

Aife let out a chuckle when she noted Bo's fearful stare. It was more apparent now witnessing up close just how attached her daughter had become with the human Champion. Her dark eyes looked over to the fire show within the circle everyone was huddled around, not surprised at the sight of the monster.

"Just watch. She'll extinguish the Cherufe like it was a birthday cake candle. The look on your faces is going to be hilarious."

"Let's hope you're right, Succu-Mom." Kenzi backed her up on the notion, her sights still glued on the fight. At this point it was like watching a horror movie, each time Lauren just barely dodged a swing or fireball caused the goth to flinch in time with it.

Though Aife was watching unblinkingly, not at all worried about Lauren.

Dyson narrowed his eyes at her, he felt that it was odd how the older Succubus seemed so sure about the outcome. He wondered about her last comment of their reaction, was there something Aife knew that they didn't? If that were to be the case, Dyson wasn't liking it. There was just something about the woman that just put him off.

Lauren had been continuously avoiding each fireball that was hurled her way, it want back to swinging at her with it's stone arms. It was rushing at her faster, or maybe she was getting slower. She was sure she was starting to feel tired. She couldn't keep this up forever, eventually she'll run out of stamina, she needed to think of a plan quick. It would be possible that there may be no way out of this, the little information that was known about the Cherufes was not enough to figure out a way to destroy one. Unless exposed to unnaturally low temperatures, there was no way she could lay a single hit on the monster. The Cherufe was getting smart, it was learning Lauren's movements and kept her going. It knew she was tiring, now it was simply just waiting for the second Lauren slipped and made a mistake.

"Shit...Shit, shit!" Bo was cursing under her breath the more she watched Lauren dodge one more swing from the Cherufe, and then stumbled to the ground.

Lauren had finally run out of steam and was now vulnerable to get blasted. Bo has had enough of standing by and watching, she started to shove Fae out of her way to get to the center of the circle.

"Damn it!" Dyson wasn't going to stop Bo, in fact he was following her to save his sister as well. Things have gone too far, if Lauren wasn't going to forfeit then both he and Bo will drag her out together.

Just as Bo made it to the very front of the crowd, she felt a chill run up her body causing her to stop right where she was.

Lauren had gotten up on one knee, a hand held up towards the line of fire. Snow-like wisps of energy swirled around the length of her arm, to the very end of her hand. Just a few mere inches away from her palm, the fireball that was thrown in her direction was frozen solid in mid air. Lauren's eyes were glowing green, a focused look in her eyes so intense that those very eyes could have frozen the projectile with just the stare.

Bo watched it all with mouth agape, not noticing Dyson catching up behind her. He too stopped in his tracks, now matching the same expression as Bo and as the rest of the Fae that were watching up close what was going on. Cassandra as well was overwhelmed at the sight, and had no words to spare. Everyone had gone silent, they were all in shock and awe.

The Champion was having an internal conflict herself, unsure of what was happening and how she was doing this. It was just like that time with the sword when she froze over the grassfield into an ice rink, but only now it was with her own hand that she is doing this. Not risking in losing control of it, she pushed her confusion aside and focused. Standing up fully now, with her arm still outstretched she closed her hand into a fist and the frozen ball burst into icy-shimmering dust. The Cherufe had once more advanced towards her, and Lauren walked to meet it half way with a literal cold posture. Her arm still engulfed in this foreign energy rippling around it, she cocked her fist back and let out a yell just as she launched it straight for the Cherufe.

In a burst of blue and white aura, the Cherufe's flames died when the cold gust exploded over it's stone body, only steam seeped out of the cores of fire that were once there. It's stone had become frozen, like clear crystals. Lauren lowered her arm down, only to allow herself to kick out her foot into the frozen form of the Cherufe and shattered it into a million frozen glass pieces.

Breathing harshly, Lauren blinked a few times down at the frozen bits below her boots. Her emerald eyes looked up and around the gaping Fae that surrounded her, she then lingered on Bo. The Succubus was as well shell-shocked at what she had done just now. Lauren mustered up the nerve to look further up to see a surprised Ash and a thoroughly satisfied Morrigan. No one had yet said anything, no sounds of cheers nor of disapproval.

The silence was thick, one might just hear a pin drop in it.

There was only one that was still rowdy and loud. At first it would have been mistaken to be Kenzi causing the scene, but it was yet again the Warrior Fairy. Whom was clutching the shorter human by the shoulder and shaking her aggressively as she vocalized her support for Lauren. Soon Kenzi snapped out of her own shock and grabbed Ciara back, the two of them hooted and hollered in appraisal of Lauren's victory while bouncing around in unison.

Soon the rest of the crowd followed suit and roared in absolute positive cheering for the human among wolves.

For the chosen human, for Fenrir's Champion.

Their Champion.

There was not much self restraint left, the whole gang rushed through and tackled Lauren with playful head nookies and light punches to her arm. Vex had even joined in on the group merriment, proud and happy mostly due to the money he had just won thanks to the Doctor.

"You are such a peach for fulfilling my bet. I must say that suplex was brilliant." The Mesmer praised, which Lauren had actually become bashful in response.

Kenzi sputtered out, "Forget that! Can we please talk about the Sub-Zero crazy shit she just pulled off?!"

"I second that!" Ciara chimed in, "You've been holding out on us, haven't you?" She nudged Lauren.

The Champion gave her friend a sheepish look, "Not really… It just… happened."

"It doesn't matter, what matters is that you won." Dyson pointed out, a soft smile on his face as he messed with Lauren's hair in a brotherly gesture.

Lauren playfully glared at him as she fixed her hair, her expression then changed drastically when Bo approached close. Before she would say another word the Succubus had already launched herself into Lauren's arms in a fierce embrace.

Immediately Lauren hugged Bo back with equal ferocity, not caring that everyone was seeing this exchange.

"You did amazing, Lauren." Bo stepped away from the human's arms.

Aife smiled secretly behind the cheering crowd, she crossed her arms and turned away. She had seen enough for today, but soon enough she would have to speak with her daughter. With that last thought she left, already guessing what was going to happen next.

The Light Fae leader raised his hand to silence the over excited cheering and applauding, just when things calmed down he spoke up loud and clear for everyone to hear.

"Lauren Stewart, you have proven yourself to be the true chosen Champion." He finally announced, "The Blood Oath has been met, I release Cassandra Thornwood from it."

Cassandra took that as a sign and moved past the Fae leaders and hopped over the rail, landing steady on her feet she found herself next to her daughter. It was her turn to hug Lauren, which was returned back.

Pulling away, Lauren smiled wide at her mother, "Mom, you're finally free—OW!"

Cassandra yanked Lauren by the ear painfully, "You had me worried sick, you damned child! Don't you ever do that to me ever again, you got that?!" She scolded rapidly in one breath, she then released Lauren's reddening ear.

Lauren rubbed at her throbbing ear and mumbled, "I'm sorry, but you know I had to do it."

Mama Wolf sighed out, she could not argue any further on the matter with Lauren. Instead she hugged her daughter again, relieved that she was alright. Cassandra had reached out over to Dyson and held his strong hand, she thanked him for all his hard work.

"You stuck by your sister, despite your past differences. To see you both now so close and working together, after all the struggles… It's all I've ever wanted to see from the two of you." Cassandra confessed, her eyes misting over with tears of joy.

Dyson smiled thinly at Lauren, who stared back awkwardly. They were both slightly embarrassed at the open motherly display of affection.

He cleared his throat and found his voice, "It wasn't just me, mother. Everyone else had a hand in Lauren's growth."

Lauren nodded in agreement, "That's right. I couldn't have done this without you all here."

"Aww, shucks, …" Kenzi said with some bashfulness as she kicked her boot against the ground.

The Ash brought everyone's attention back once more, "Now that you've proven yourself, it is now apparent that the Garuda is in fact real and is awakening. There is much to prepare for. Your training was just a start, clearly there is more for you to learn from still. The Light Fae will gladly take up responsibility in providing the proper methods in developing your skills, Champion."

Lauren nodded tersely at the Ash's offer, some more training wouldn't hurt was her thought.

Evony swiftly stepped in, "Hold your horses there, Ash. You aren't planning on locking up the Champion at your Compound for more pointless tests, are you? Because last I checked, the kid kicked major ass." She pointed out with confidence, sending Lauren a smug smile. "I say she is more than capable of leading us, if I dare say." The Ash arched an eyebrow at the mention of an 'us.'

"What exactly are you implying?" He questioned her.

"Lauren here is everyone's Champion. That means both Light and Dark. Or have you forgotten that small little detail?"

"This is true." The Ash agreed, but then added, "And when the time would come to aid the Dark Fae, the Light will make sure to provide some assistance if able."

"If able?" The Morrigan chortled, with a mocking tone she responded back, "You can't keep her at the Light's side 24/7, she has the rights to come into Dark territory and meet with our Elders and able bodied warriors that would join the fight."

"I can assure you, the Dark won't need to lift a finger to help in any way. It is all under control by the Light, that is a promise." His eyes narrowed, not giving into Evony's persistence.

"Now you're just being unreasonable." The Morrigan's annoyance was growing.

Kenzi cringed, "Are they seriously fighting over Lauren?"

"Like two spoiled brats tugging at a toy back and forth in a sandbox." Bo shook her head.

Lauren sighed out, a headache coming on. Only this time it was one from pure annoyance at the coming stress of being an official Champion. With the weight of the Blood Oath now lifted, a new one would befall on her shoulders.

The responsibilities of working with both Light and Dark had now weighed in.
