A/N: Hey guys, I'm sorry for the long time... literally a year for the next update… I am in my senior year of college so it is extremely busy. But I will try updating again as soon as I can!
Korra looked awe struck for a moment before her mother smiled and pulled her to the island. The fact that he had won over her father so quickly was almost awe inspiring. Following her father and mother with a rumpled brow she shook it away when her parents started to greet Tenzin's family, and Katara. Sighing softly she smiled and was just relieved nobody was hurt… yet.
The evening passed by slowly, Amon only stayed for dinner and then left claiming he still had to make some arrangements for house hunting to Korra's chagrin. Sighing softly she laid back on the floor at the dinner table. Meelo crawled over and quickly placed his hand on her small stomach and started to pretend it was a crystal ball. Rolling her eyes she couldn't help but smile as he predicted it was going to be a girl, and that they would name her Meela.
Korra smiled as she looked up at her parents they had been talking to Katara but as soon as Meelo had started his predictions they stopped to pay attention. Tonraq couldn't help but smile as he moved over to sit across from Meelo.
"Meela? Are you sure about that?" he asked.
Meelo looked up at him as his brow furrowed, "You don't believe me?! I am the great spirit teller Meelo!"
Tonraq couldn't help but laugh at the child. He nodded and bowed slightly, "My apologies, Great Spirit Teller Meelo."
Korra rolled her eyes although her smile didn't fade from her face, her father playing with Meelo relaxed her significantly, she was worried her parents would be angry with her. She remembered a girl who had gotten pregnant while unmarried and like many families in the south her parents had ignored her for the most part. She didn't know much about the girl but when she visited her parents she could tell the girl was almost shunned from the tribe. Although her parents, she had been afraid the moment she was notified of their visit.
Sitting up Korra couldn't help but raise a brow at Meelo and shake her head, "Sorry Meelo... but I'm pretty sure Meela is not an option." Shaking his head Meelo crossed his arms and moved away quickly, upset by her denial.
She couldn't help but roll her eyes at him as she watched him walk away. Sitting up Korra's mother smiled at her and chuckled as Korra rubbed her small belly, "What?" Korra asked looking up at her with confusion. Senna just shook her head and smiled, "It is nothing, just surprising to think I'll be having a grand baby soon, especially with such unique parents."
Korra's hand stopped moving on the curve of her stomach and she looked down at belly, her stomach flipping. She looked up at her mother with a somber expression. She had been trying to forget and push past Amon and her odd situation, especially their child's conception, but her mother noticing and bring it up bother Korra. A rush of shame and confusion filling her mind her cheeks flushing and any happiness falling from her face.
"Korra…? What is wrong?" Katara was heard although Korra didn't look up at her. Shaking her head she smiled weakly, "Nothing Sifu, I'm fine." Looking up she smiled and pulled herself up, "I'm just going to go to bed, tired from playing with the kids."
Giving a small smile she stood up and said a brief goodnight before going up to her room. Changing into her pajamas she looked down at the curve of her stomach and sighed deeply her expression quickly becoming somber.
Soft knocking was heard softly from her doorway, looking up she sat down on her bed and tilted her head at the door, "come in?"
Sliding the door her Senna looked up at Korra with a concerned expression, "Honey... Are you okay?" She stepped into the room and shut the door behind her with a soft thud. "And don't say you are fine, I saw your face the moment I mentioned my future grandbaby."
Sighing Korra looked at her mom and then down at her belly, "Mom I remember what happened to that girl in the tribe…" Tears forming in her eyes as her hand touched the curve, "You are proud now, but will you still be proud back at home? Will you be shunned?" She looked up at her mother and rubbed at a teary eye, "I just didn't expect this, and I don't want to cause you anything, and I'm still uncomfortable with it all."
A small smile took her Senna's lips as she stepped closer to her daughter. "Korra, I think you are forgetting that neither your father and I care about your marital status." Pausing for a second Senna shook her head, "Actually your father might, but I don't, and I don't think anyone in our tribe is going to give us grief because our daughter, the avatar, is in an unwed family. Our family has always been rather unconventional."
A small smile took to Korra's lips at her moments mention of her status, and she then shook her head. "I just.. I didn't plan this Mom… I feel like I'm letting you both down." Fidgeting with the blankets next to her she felt Senna sit next to her, arms moving to hold her around her shoulders.
"Korra, your father and I will always be proud of you, no matter what happens. When you have this precious child you will really understand how we feel." Patting Korra's cheek turned her face to her own, "When you hold your child in your arms for the first time, you will fall in love, you will love them no matter what they do."
Sighing softly Korra smiled at her mother, "Thanks Mom… I just am having a hard time with this all. I wasn't raped, but I didn't think about the repercussions of it all, I didn't think about a child. And now I'm… stuck with Amon as my child's father and he tries so hard to make it right, but at the same time I can't stop to think about his movement, about the non-bending revolution. I don't want my child to get hurt." Tears started to fall down her cheeks as her mom nodded and smiled at her. Looking down at her hands and stomach she shook her head, "I just don't want to be a failure. I want to be a good mom, I wanted the typical life that Aang and Katara had, I wanted the love story. But now… I have this. I have a loveless partner and a child on the way."
Sighing Senna lead her daughter's face back up to hers, "you need to give it a try Korra, if not for just you but for your child. Maybe talk to him about it head on discuss the non-bender situation. Discuss your future together, what he wants, and what you want. Nothing good is going to happen by you sitting and getting depressed about it." She tilted her head at her daughter giving a patronizing look, "I can tell you are upset Korra, even when you smile you aren't really happy. You need to be positive about this child, and you need to figure out what you want before you have this child, otherwise you will be sleep deprived and a confused mess." Shaking her head she kissed Korra's brow gently, "get some sleep. When you get up in the morning and Amon gets here we will let you two go talk while your father and I tour the houses."
Nodding Korra smiled at her mother and sighed softly, "You are right… try and talk to him." Hugging her tightly she walked her mother to the door and returned to bed, settling in for a restless sleep.
