A/N: This is a short little one-shot I wrote for Halloween, from Rena's point of view. This takes place after The Dogs of War, without being spoiler-ish. Enjoy!

I sighed as I drank from my cup of the blood red Yum-n-ade being served at the pirate's Halloween party on Skull Island. Where the hell is Matt? He said he'd be here...

I knew that it wasn't entirely his fault though; the Aquila's repairs were taking a lot longer than expected after our last battle, so my best friend had stayed behind at the dry docks to personally oversee her repairs.

I grimaced as I thought of how much gold it would require to repair the heavy frigate: almost a forest of oak for the hull, extra sailcloth for the sails as well as for the men to sew new clothes with, countless nails to hold the ship together, miles of extra rope for the rigging, and not to mention extra fees the shipyard would surely demand for scraping the Aquila's copper-bottomed hull free of the barnacles and sky-weed that slowed her down.

Alright, enough of that, lass. You're at a party - you should enjoy the little time off you have before setting sail again. I told myself, and with a resigned sigh, I strode towards the dance floor.

I'll be the first to admit that I looked good in my witch costume: black top with golden hems and detached sleeves, a matching short skirt with striped knee-socks, and a wand borrowed from Nikolai enchanted with a stun spell in case some perv thinks he's in luck tonight.

"You look lovely tonight." A familiar voice suddenly spoke up, and I turned to see that it was Matt, dressed up as a vampire. He wore a black cloak behind his shoulders to reveal a white shirt under a black waistcoat and a jabot, black trousers with matching shoes, and his hair was slicked back except for one little lock which I thought was kind of cute. "May I have this dance?"

"You know what, Matt?" I said, smiling at him as I took his hand. "I think I'll take you up on that."
