You're Alive- Chapter 7
Dawn's POV
I looked around at the beautiful lights. Heh. I guess it is a pretty okay club. I looked around. There was a lot of people around our age. Something tugged my hand. It was Barry.
"What's wrong, Barry?"
"Dawn, we're going out. Now."
I scrunched up eyebrows in confusion and looked around. "What?"
Barry gave me a stern look and nodded at the other boys. "Dawn. Now."
I jerked my wrist from his hand and put my hands on my hips. "You guys are really weird. You know that? First you wouldn't let me talk those guys and now I can't even stay at this club?"
Lucas and Kenny went behind me as if to cover me. I swatted them away. "What are you guys doing!?"
Barry gave me worried look. "Look, Dawn, if we don't leave now, something bad might happen."
"Okay, I trust you guys, but I don't even know what you're talking about. What's the bad thing?" I questioned.
Barry's voice become low and soft. "Dawn, it's Keith."
I froze. Keith? Impossible. We destroyed him.
"It's possible." Lucas read my mind.
I glared at him. "What happened to, I promise to respect your privacy?"
He smiled sheepishly. "Sorry." Then he huffed. "Besides, I can't help if your thoughts are loud."
I scowled at him. Barry slapped his shoulder.
"No time for teasing. We need to get out."
Sighing, I agreed. Why did I have such bad luck?
Barry grabbed my hand and we discreetly tried making our way towards the door.
Like I said, I was the unluckiest person in this world.
"Dawn!"
The four of us stopped in our tracks. Despite the loud music, I heard the distant clicking of shoes coming toward our way.
"Keep moving." Lucas whispered.
I took one step and the voice stopped me. "Going already Dawn?"
I slowly turned my head and saw him.
I whipped my head back and squeezed Barry's hand. The boys looked at me worriedly.
"Lucas, get us out of here." Kenny whispered frantically.
"I-I CAN'T!" Lucas whispered back, panicked.
Our eyes widened. No way. He couldn't have recreated it. Not that fast.
The clicking of heels moved closer.
"Screw it." Barry and the boys dragged me towards the doors.
"Where do you think you're going?"
I lifted my head up and saw Keith's ugly face.
"We were just about to leave, so if you could excuse us.." Barry pushed his shoulder away. Keith grabbed Barry's collar and shoved him.
"Think again, Speedo."
"You think you can win in a fight with me?" Barry challenged.
Keith widened his eyes and lifted his hands in surrender. "No, no, no. Of course not." But then his mouth turned into a smirk. "But…with this I might be able to." He held up a tiny device shaped like a small remote control.
Impossible
As if he read my mind he sneered. "You thought you destroyed my baby. This is why people have things called backups."
Kenny snarled. "What do you want, Keith?"
Keith grinned. "Well, same reason as last time, of course. And don't forget about revenge." He smiled evilly.
I grimaced. And I thought my nightmares of his face were totally gone.
"Don't you forget what happened to you last time?" Lucas asked.
"Yeah, we totally creamed you." Barry retorted. I rolled my eyes. Barry always said things without really thinking about the consequences.
Keith narrowed his eyes. "That was only because it was me against you four."
Then he smiled his creepy smile. "But it looks like the odds are in my favor. I have help."
He snapped and 3 men stood behind him. "Meet my creations. Specially made and installed with this same baby." He held up his remote control. "Except this time, my baby isn't so easy to destroy. You'll find that quite frustrating."
I growled.
Keith smiled at me and spread his arms out. "Dawn! I've missed you!"
"Well, I definitely didn't miss you."
"That hurts. But I promise that you're gonna get hurt more in the next few minutes."
I glared. "You don't scare me. We'll defeat your ass like we did last time. Tough luck Keith, but you'll never reach our level."
"I hoped you would say that. It really riles me up!" He grinned.
He snapped again and the three robot thingy men approached Kenny, Barry, and Lucas and separated me from them. Barry punched the man in the face but it did nothing.
"W-What…?"
"Barry, let me introduce you to Bart. Both start with B's. Isn't that great?"
Barry glared. "Fucking great."
The man next to Kenny looked at Keith. "Oh, of course. Kenny, this is Adam. And Lucas, the friend next to you is named Derek."
"Yeah, we're definitely best buds." Lucas muttered.
I snorted. "You named your robots?"
Keith strutted to me. "You better watch that mouth, missy. And why wouldn't I name my robots? All my possessions have names. You have a name, don't you?"
My mouth twitched. "What are you implying, Keith?"
Kenny, Barry, and Lucas glared at him expecting an answer.
Keith lowered his face down to mine and smiled.
"Why, sweet Dawn, it means that you're going to be mine."
My eyes widened.
Lucas, Barry and Kenny growled and stepped towards Keith. But when they took their first step, the robots automatically blocked them.
"Nuh-uh. Not so fast." Keith wagged his finger at us.
"Dawn is mine to fight. And mine alone."
"Who says." Barry sneered.
Keith smirked. "You'll be too busy fighting off my robots." He grinned evilly. "You'll find that my babies will overpower you."
Kenny scoffed and glared. "Try us."
Keith's eyebrows rose. "I think you'll regret that challenge soon."
Then he looked at me. "Now Dawny, before I destroy your friends, I have a question."
"A question that I'm not answering." I shot.
Keith grabbed my chin and made me look up at him.
Kenny, Lucas and Barry cried out and stepped towards me but was blocked by the robots.
"Don't touch her, you nasty bastard!" Lucas shouted, struggling against the arms of the robots.
We started to get some attention from the nearby crowds.
Keith looked around. "Hm...Don't want this to get too messy."
Keith pondered for a minute and snapped his fingers. "Bart, Adam, Derek, take these boys and follow me. Don't lose hold of them."
The robots snatched each of the boys and dragged them to Keith.
Barry, Lucas and Kenny struggled. Damn that remote.
Keith had invented this device where it could contain our powers for a certain amount of time. For some reason, this time the remotes contained our powers for an even longer time. Kenny and Lucas and Barry were still extremely powerful without their powers, but the remote not only blocked the powers, but it drained our energy as well. And not just a little energy, it was a lot of energy. It was a miracle that the boys could even struggle.
Kenny sneered. "I see you made upgrades to your damn machine."
Keith smiled at him. "Of course. I am out for revenge. Although I might have to make some more upgrades. I can't comprehend on to how you can still move."
"How long does thing work?" I glared.
"Eh, not by a lot from before. It takes quite the amount of energy just for it to work for 1 second." He frowned. "Your powers are just too powerful. Such a nuisance." He shook his head, grumbling.
Not by a lot? Then it has to only be about 20 minutes. It was about 15 minutes last time.
I used my peripheral vision to look at a nearby clock. It had been 12 minutes since we got here. Only 8 minutes left.
Keith also seemed to detect the lack of time. "Let's take this outside."
He dragged me with the remote pointed at my head and the robots dragged the boys along. We went to the exit and Keith took us to the back of the club where he pushed me to the ground.
I winced as my knee started to bleed from the rocky pavement.
Kenny, Barry and Lucas were also thrown to the ground. I tried standing up but the remote had drained a lot of my powers. The boys were also struggling to stand up. As long as the remote was 10 meters within our range, it would block any usage of our powers and drain our energy away.
Keith looked down at us. "Now to answer my previous question, Dawny. Where are your other friends?"
I looked at him with a confused face. "What?"
"Don't act dumb. Your other friends. Don't know what they look like but there's 3 girls and 4 boys."
I glared at him. "I don't know who you're talking about!"
"Don't involve them into this, Keith!" Kenny shouted.
Keith's eyes widened. "So you didn't tell Dawny?"
My eyes narrowed. "Tell me what?"
He looked at me. "You used to be best friends with these 7 other kids. You lost your memory and forgot about them. You see, these kids are vital for my mission."
"What mission?"
"Why, Dawn, I want complete domination. Once I have total control over your powers and theirs, I will be invincible!"
"Well, you'll never be able to complete your mission." Barry growled.
I looked at the boys. "You guys didn't tell me that I lost my memory of my best friends?"
"Dawn, this is not the time to be talking about this!" Lucas said.
"You guys have been hiding stuff from me? Again!?"
"DAWN! We'll talk about this later, okay?"
I scowled.
"Yes Dawn. Listen to them. The most important thing right now is to make you and your friends as weak as possible."
I gave him a confused look. "What!?"
Just then, Keith's foot slammed on my back and I fell back on the pavement. He slammed his foot on my back again and pressed me down against the ground.
I screamed in pain.
"DAWN!" The boys stood up to be attacked by the robots.
Keith then pulled me up from the ground by my hair and met his face with mine. "I'm sorry Dawny, but we only have 5 minutes left until the device stops working. So I'm gonna have to get you as bloody and weak as possible at the moment."
I struggled against his firm grip, but it just ended up hurting more. The boys were getting badly beaten up by the robots. The device had completely drained their powers and energy. Kenny was being punched in the face repeatedly, Barry was pressed up against the wall, getting beat up in the back and Lucas was on the ground, getting kicked.
I grew furious at the sight and tried swinging a punch at Keith. He blocked it and threw me to the ground and kicked me in the stomach. He repeatedly kicked me until he dragged me up by my hair again.
"It saddens me that I'm ruining your pretty dress. You look so sexy in it, by the way."
I tried glaring at him but I couldn't move. "Maybe I'll have some fun with you when we head back to the base."
"D-Don't you d-d-d-are-e…" I muttered.
He dropped me to the ground again and fell on my elbow and I screamed in pain.
The boys looked at me in worry.
"L-leave Dawn alone you b-b-bastard!" Lucas cried, blood dripping from his mouth.
Keith glared at the robots. "Hurry up and get them unconscious!"
The robots kept beating up the boys and Keith then looked at me. "Time to get you unconscious too, darling."
Keith kicked me everywhere. My legs, my thighs, my head and repeatedly, my stomach. With each hit I cried out in pain.
Keith looked at his device. "Shit, only 2 more minutes."
He started to kick even harder. I screamed in agony.
Suddenly I heard the distance noise of footsteps coming our way. Keith looked up, panic in his eyes.
The footsteps got closer. Kenny, Barry and Lucas, who were miraculously still conscious, looked towards the direction of sound.
Suddenly I heard a familiar voice. "DAWN!"
I slowly tried to look up. Then I saw them. They were the kids from before who tried to talk to me.
"W-what…?"
They looked around disbelievingly. Keith looked at them, still stunned.
Suddenly, I heard Kenny's voice.
"HURRY, TAKE DAWN!"
What?
The kids from before came up to me and picked me up. One of the boys, with purple hair went up to Keith and punched him the face and started beating him up.
The robots started to approach the group.
Lucas shouted at them. "GET DAWN OUT OF HERE!"
A boy with green picked me up and looked at the other kids. "Get Lucas, Barry and Kenny!"
They nodded and approached the boys. But the robots blocked them. One of the boys tried swinging a punch but the robot grabbed his arm and twisted it.
"DON'T FIGHT THEM. JUST TAKE DAWN AND LEAVE!" Barry shouted.
"N-NO!" I shouted at them. "I CAN'T LEAVE YOU HERE!"
"DAWN LISTEN TO US. WE'LL BE FINE. GET OUT OF HERE." Barry yelled.
"Drew, take the others and go. You can't beat these guys. Hurry, take Dawn away from here!" Lucas begged.
"N-no, Lucas, you guys are coming."
Lucas tried giving me a smile. "We'll see you soon."
I heard a groan from Keith.
"GET OUT!" Kenny shouted
The boy who was holding me started to sprint away from the scene. The others followed.
I struggled against the boy's grip. "N-No…I have to go back."
I saw Keith glaring in our direction but making no attempt to go after me. Instead he directed his attention back to the boys and barked orders at the robots. The robots nodded and started again to continuously punch and kick the boys.
My eyes widened. No. I can't leave them there. No. No. NO.
