(A/N) SUMMER! :D Okay, so with Coping Mechanisms, I was thinking about doing one for all of our little birds in their childhoods. :)
They all had different ways to cope. Jason had his way, whatever it was, Dick had to have a good one for what he had to cope through, Stephanie had hers, and even Damian had to find ways to cope. Every member of the bat-family did. You had to, if you wanted to survive.
Even Tim had to find his way.
Today, we'll focus on Timmy's.
You see, little Timmy had first began this specific coping mechanism in about second grade.
He had heard his teacher mention something about a pie to one of his other teachers, except he wasn't using the word like it was a dessert.
So, of course, curious little Timmy asked his teacher about it after school that day, and his teacher told him something.
His teacher told him about Pi. He said that it was the ratio of a circle's circumference by it's diameter, and that it went on forever. He also said most people just called it 3.14.
Tim was thinking about this, as he was on his way home.
Once he got home, his mind was distracted from the concept of Pi, as his Mommy and Daddy were screaming at each other again.
He sighed, sniffling, and went to his room, knowing that if he tried to stop them they'd just yell at him instead.
While little Timmy was laying on his bed, staring at the ceiling, a sudden thought struck him.
What if he learned the numbers in Pi?
Now, most second graders would not think of this challenge as fun, or entertaining, and even Timmy wasn't sure that he did.
But it was still his challenge.
So, he snuck out of the house-it wasn't that hard, the door was unlocked, and mommy and daddy were still yelling at each other, so no one even noticed he was gone- and walked down to the library.
Timmy shyly walked up the library's adult counter, and waited until the lady got off of the phone.
As soon as she did, and was looking at him and asking how she could help him, he said, "Miss, do you have any books on the numbers in Pi?"
The woman looked a bit shocked that he was requesting such a book, but stated, astonished, "I believe we do."
She walked over to a section of the library that was filled with super thick books. Books so thick, some of them made Tim look small! And he was the fourth tallest kid in his class!
Anyway, the book the lady pulled out was blue, and super thick! On the front of it, it said, "One Million Digits of Pi", so Timmy decided that book would probably be good.
The woman held out the book to him, and he took it in his hands, looking inside of it to make sure it was the digits of Pi.
It was.
So, he gave the lady a huge smile, and said happily, "Thank you, Miss. Can I check this book out?"
The woman gave him a smile back, and said, "Of course, Sir." leading him back to the counter.
After checking the book out, and getting on his way, Tim hurried home.
Sneaking back into the house was still easy, as Timmy's Mommy and Daddy were still yelling!
Once he was back in his house, he snuck up into his room, and started to learn the numbers.
