Fiyero slung his bag over his shoulder and ran a hand through his unruly hair. Huffing out a breath, he collected a stack of papers from Galinda's desk, reconizing them as the chemisty project rough draft they never turned in. The early morning air was a cold draft which glinded in from the window, wrapping around his arms and raising bumps. Putting on his sweater, he squinted, still fixated on the paper, trying to make out Galinda's horrendous spelling mistakes, then sighed again as he realized he had to hand it in to Ms. Brock. Not that she expected anything less of him, he just didn't feel that it was fair to judge someone who had been paired with...well, a blonde. Making his way out of the dorm room, he winced as he heard a plastic kazoo crack under his shoe. The party went on far into early dawn, and he had slept in Galinda's bed when she crashed on the couch. Once again, Elphaba was nowhere to be seen. He smiled at his memory of twirling the green girl around the room, remembering the way her ominous eyes peeked up from under long black lashes at him shyly. There was something mysterious about her eyes. They could be described as either brown or black, the color of the sky that was expecting to get stars any second. Her hair was always back in a braid, but if she let it out, he was sure it would be just as captivating. And her mysterious green skin. It wasn't rough or scraggly or disgusting. So many students called it disgusting, Fiyero thought with a frown. The dominance of Shiz University couldn't impugn his beliefs about her. He thought she was beautiful. Her skin was as soft as silk. For a fleeting moment, he wondered what her skin would be like under his teeth as he undressed her, but he shook his head, cursing himself for such a lustful thought. Just to abate the fantasy, he kissed his girlfriend on her temple, taking in the scent of her perfume before walking out the door.
He walked through the cool morning air slowly, enjoying the view of the pine trees and the first students getting up from what little sleep they had, given they attended Galinda's party. He turned the corner and fell back as something heavy fell against him.
"Oof!" He muttered, falling back on the freezing brick ground.
"Hey, man, I'm sorry."
Fiyero looked across from him at the boy who had also fallen. Standing first, he muttered an apology, then helped him to his feet.
He was a bit shorter than Fiyero was, but more muscular arms lined his body. He had curly jet black hair that fell in his eyes and green eyes that seemed to promise something odd, like a robbery or murder. He studied Fiyero, sizing him up with his eyes, then gave him a smirk that made Fiyero's blood start to boil.
"So...bit cold, are we?" He laughed at Fiyero sweater. "Can't take a little cold, mate?"
Fiyero brushed hair out of his eyes and sneered. "Couldn't get back to your dorm?"
"Aw, where's the fun in that?" The boy winked. "I don't plan on going back to my dorm alone. Now tell me, any good girls here? You know, the ones that pass it all up?" He snickered. "Like the hot brunettes or blondes?"
Fiyero's knuckles clenched as he pictured his own girlfriend, and the girl who had enchanted him earlier last night. "Try the whore house."
"Ouch. Mate, I don't mean trouble." The green-eyes boy looked around and settled his eyes on a curly-haired girl reading on one of the benches. He snapped his eyes back to Fiyero as a lame cover-up, then smirked again. "The name's Avaric. See you around...?"
"Fiyero."
"Fiyero? That sounds familiar. Like the prince Fiyero? Vikun?" Avaric had already started walking before Fiyero could answer, but turned back just in time to see him nod. He did a little bow, then sauntered to the reading girl while Fiyero moved on, just to brush it all off.
The delivery went as successful as he thought; Ms. Brock rolled her eyes at the typos and told Fiyero to try harder. He felt both relieved and annoyed after the paper was delivered because now he had nothing to take his mind off of Avaric. What a little prick. He turned the corner again before something else bumped into him. Thinking it was the idiot again, he angrily pushed him away, only to find it wasn't him.
It was Elphaba.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, I thought you were someone else!" Fiyero reached for her hands and rubbed them in his warmer fingers.
"Well, I'm used to being pushed around, aren't I?" She slid her hands out of his grip and adjusted her glasses on her nose, then picked up the papers that were scattered. "Who pissed you off?"
Fiyero blushed, running a hand through his hair. "It doesn't matter. He's gone now anyways. Where are you off to?" He added hopefully, falling in step beside her.
"Library," She said matter-of-factly. "I have to get my studying done. Why? Need to push someone there?"
Fiyero laughed. He thoroughly enjoyed every moment with this girl, and he couldn't stop looking in her eyes. "No, I promise. Just let me come."
"I don't control you," Elphaba said, and the faintest lip curve, akin to a smile, appeared and vanished on her lips before she turned away to open the wooden library doors. Fiyero walked in after her, aware he must have been sauntering like Avaric.
