This is finally the last chapter of my lengthy story! Some where in the near future, I will rewrite everything all over again to make it better. Thank you so much for reading.
I read all the comments and I love reading what you guys think of the story.
I think I might make a sequel, I don't really know. I enjoy writing about Yui with her randomness and rage. It's fun and I want to try to develop her characteristics better. So look forward to a sequel perhaps (When I make up my mind, I'll make an announcement).
BIG/HUGE THANKS FOR READING THIS STORY FOR THE FEW YEARS! 3
Yui sat in her classroom, drumming her fingers to her desk. Having her close friends attending school with her was fun as it would ever be. But she still can't help but feel sad. She knew she was being selfish, and she hated it.
At lunch, she could hear peoples shouts. Instead of going to the meeting place of where she would meet her fellow basketball friends, she wandered herself out towards under a tree. She sat down there and cooled in the shade. She stared at the clouds, forgetting about her hunger, and instead drifted away her mind.
Being a third year in high school meant she had to start planning her life. It was still early but the time would end soon. During summer, she would be allowed to witness her old senpais again and that would probably be the last time. She hated herself right this moment for being so sentimental. She knew she got over the feeling of everyone leaving when she had left Teiko. And now she had to witness everything all over again.
The growl of her stomach made her stop thinking. "Mine as well eat." She started to eat her lunch, watching everyone walk around like it was a normal day. She needed time to think about her future. What was she going to be?
She was sure she couldn't become a sports trainer. After helping the Generation of Miracles, she wasn't so sure about playing basketball in the future. Sure she loved the sport, but she felt like it'll make her remember all the things she done in her life as a student. Maybe she'll go to the same college as Riko but then she wouldn't know what would happen with Kuroko or Kagami. Her highschool years were full of love and fun. She would do anything to do it all over again, but what has passed, passed.
"Yui-chan!" Momoi shouted towards the girl who laid on her back, watching the sky with a bored expression. "I've been looking for you everywhere! You didn't show up today." She said frowning.
Yui lifted her head and smiled, "Ah, I've been thinking."
"Eh?" Momoi was taken aback at what the girl had just said. I've been thinking... It was an unusal thing for Yui to look so serious. Usually, she was just so energetic, random and sweet.
Yui quickly smiled bright and shook her head, "What are you thinking there, Satsu-chan? You look so worried, it's fine!" She grapped Momoi's hand and the two girls walked towards the cafeteria.
"You were late Yui." Akashi said with a stern expression. The said girl just smiled towards everyone and took a seat next to Midorima, but said nothing none the less.
"Oi, Satsuki what's up with her?" Aomine asked, jabbing a finger towards Yui's direction. After sitting down, she completely fell asleep at the table. By now, they were wondering if she would just ramble her head off like she usually did.
Momoi blinked, "Eh, I-I really don't know. When I found Yui-chan, she did seem a little strange. She said she was thinking about things.."
"EH!?" Kise shouted, "No way Yuichii thinks! She always says she does whatever whenever!"
They all thought about the girl and her crazy antics. "Are you sure? Even so, she's just a normal person." Kagami said, still eating his burger.
"That is unlikely." Midorima spoke, "On Oha Asa, her sign is said to have many troubles ahead. Lucky items will have no work today."
"Yuichin is like a hibernating bear." Murasakibara said as he poked the girl's cheeks. Yui only slightly groaned before mumbling to herself. "Akachin, she's already in deep sleep."
Akashi only smiled, "Leave her for now. We'll wake her up when class starts."
When Yui finally woke up, her scenery was completely different. White. She saw the same color she did when she got into the accident that allowed her to follow Riko's footsteps as a manager. White sheets and draped curtains, she realized after a while that she was in the health office. "Ugh..." She slowly woke up, trying to open her eyes to the fullest. "I fell asleep." She muttered under her breath. She looked at the clock and realized that there was only a hour left before class was finished. She frowned thinking the day was almost over, but the thought of being alone pondered on her. "Here I'll start thinking."
And so, she sat up on her bed, staring at the wall. Her face scrunched up now and then and she would sigh in frustration when she thought of something wrong or hit a dead end. "Ah, Life is just so hard." She placed her hands on her cheek and closed her eyes, "If only I had a time watch to stop time, maybe everything can stay the same. I hate changes." She muttered.
She thought for a moment. It was only spring but in a month or so, summer would come meaning that it would be time for Inter-High. The winter tournament would be something she would bring the new generation of Seirin's basketball team to, but she didn't want to think about it.
"We have to practice." She said, her eyes completely wideing. She stood up and started looking around, she spotted her bag and quickly surfed for her cell. She opened it and dialed the phone number of Riko. "Riko? Riko? Hello?" She called out.
Hearing a groan at the other end, Yui's eyes quickly widened. "Hyuuga-senpai!? Are you alright? Ri-chan didn't give you her cooking did she?" There came dead silence and she was dreading it to be over. "Ri-chan, please pick up the phone."
"Hello, Yui?" A voice spoke out. "What are you calling? Class haven't ended yet." Riko spoke through the cell.
"W-Well." Yui started to say, "I-I wanted to talk about a practice scheduel for the Inter-High..." The pink haired girl sighed in relief when Riko told her that Hyuuga was just fine and everyone was only practicing. She even agreed to come over to her house the next day to talk about it. "Thank you Ri-chan! See you tomorrow then."
Yui bended down on her knees and prayed. She clasped her hands tight to each other and closed her eyes. "PleasePleasePlease!" She muttered to herself. As soon as she got off the floor, she dusted herself off. She looked by the doorway to see a fellow student giving her a weird look. She just smiled, "Hey, I don't think the nurse is here, but if you need to, you can use the clinic for yourself." She said before stepping out of the door. "Bye!" And then she sped off.
She wandered around the empty hallways for some time. When she passed her own classroom, she slowly peered in the door. She sighed in relief when everyone's head was down, the teacher was also doing their own paper work. Grinning from ear to ear, she waved enthusiastically when Kagami had looked up and grinned at her. The red head and nudged Kuroko with his foot and he had also looked up, greeting the girl with one of his nice smile.
Yui watched the two get back to their work and skipped out of the building. "Ah, that's right." She said to herself, "I need to go talk about college." She ran off to the teachers lounge.
After classes were over, the bell rang throughout the school. Momoi was all over Yui, trying to ask the girl where she had been doing for the last hour of class. The girl kept quiet and just smiled at her friend in return.
"Yui-chan~." Momoi whined, pulling on Yui's arm, bobbing her head back and forth.
Yui sighed, her thinking was starting to give into Momoi. "Satsu-chan. Can I confinde you with some of my troubles?" She asked the girl who stared back at her with a shocked face. Her composure was quickly back as it was gone.
"Of course Yui-chan! Anything for a friend. What's on your mind? Is it Aomine-kun? Is he bullying you again?" Momoi asked, furrowing her eyebrows together and giving a mean glare at the thought.
Yui waved her hands in front of her face and laughed, "No, it's nothing like that." With a sigh, she started to fumble with her fingers. Her throat tightened, and she took a few deep breaths. "I've been thinking really hard for a while now. I always have so much fun for the past following year, and I've been wondering. What should I really do for my future? I always had basketball for a while, but I don't know if I should continue it."
Momoi smiled, "Oh, I understand Yui-chan. I've been thinking about that before too. I think Tetsu-kun, Aomine-kun and the rest might continue basketball. But everyone can become something other than a pro athlete." The girl then sat down, and stared at Yui head on. "But you're just sad right?"
Yui nodded at Momoi's question, "Yeah."
"Don't worry about that Yui-chan!" Momoi said as she gave Yui a gentle hug, "I feel the same way. Just like middle school, I didn't want to be separated from everyone. It was so fun back then. But after this year, I think back and I know that we won't be drifting apart. Sure everyone will be walking different paths, but just like before, we'll always be friends."
"Wah...That was so touching Satsu-chan!" Yui felt the tears dripping down her chin as she stared at Momoi in amazement. "What a long speech, but I understand now Satsu-chan!"
"You do?" Momoi asked in a surprised voice. She wasn't sure what she made Yui think all of a sudden, but she knew that her friend wasn't sulking anymore.
"Yes! I'll just let everything happen, let fate decide!" Yui said smiling widely. She then raced out of the classroom without giving Momoi a second glance. "I'll see you tomorrow Satsu-chan!"
Yui smiled widely as she ran all the way to the teacher's lounge. She felt stupid for sulking and she realized what she was going to do. "Sensei!" She shouted causing the room full of teachers to look a a single pinked hair teen.
"Ah, Yui-san, come here!"
Yui walked up to her teacher and smiled, but they only shook their head. "You should calm down, Yui-san. Please, take a seat. Is there anything that you need from me today?"
"Yes! I know it's a bit early, but I know what I want to do with my future."
"It is quite early." The teacher said as they flipped through their calender. It was still spring and summer would come in a few weeks, but no one had to talk about their future yet as they had a whole year. They took out a piece of paper that said 'future careers' and handed it to Yui. "Here you go, we can talk about what you want to be, and well, I'll try to give advice to my best abilities."
Yui nodded and looked at her paper, "I want to go to a University. Um, my friends, they're all at that school, I want to get in with them. Plus, you can get in if you play well in basketball."
"So a sports university huh?"
"Hai, but besides that I don't know anything else about this University."
"Do you have a name for this school?" The teacher asked as they moved their swivel chair and towards their computer.
"Kaidai Gakuen I think..." Yui say furrowing her brow.
"Hm...This is a good school. It has many departments from cooking, music, etc... I think you would enroll into the sports department, but you can just take the normal department and join a sports club. It all depends on your grades right now." The teacher explained, "Let's say your grades aren't so good, but because of your exceptional display of basketball, you may get a sports scholarship."
"I see..." Yui say nodding her head. She smiled and stood up, bowing to her sensei. "Thank you Sensei."
Spring passed and in came summer. Yui's strange behavior during a few weeks back were gone and she acted the same as always. With a bright smile, she enjoyed her high school days with the transferees, the generation of miracles.
Despite the annoyances of Kise's fan girls, she continued her days as if nothing bothered her at all.
"Sorry about them, Yuicchi." Kise said with a puppy-dog face. Yui accepted the apology and gave the boy a tight hug.
"It's alright, I wasn't hurt! And even if they did something to me, I'll get my revenge." The girl said grinning ear to ear with a evil glint in her eyes.
Midorima sighed when he watched Yui say those words. "You should refrain from saying something so unladylike."
Yui's ears twitched and she stood closely to the green-haired boy, "Are you sure Shin-chan? I bet I got the best luck this year!" She said placing her hands on her hips as she laughed out loud.
Aomine threw a arm around her shoulder and laughed, "That's right, don't whine about the way she acts. She's been this way ever since we met her, ne Tetsu."
"Hai, Aomine-kun." Kuroko said with a small smile.
"That's why we don't get along Kuroko." Midorima say.
"Mukkun!" Momoi shouted as she tried to grab a white plastic bags from the fingers of the purple giant, "No more sweets for you! These are Yui-chan's favorite."
"Eh...? But I'm hungry." Murasakibara said as he took out a chocolate snack. "If Yuichin is hungry, I'll share some with her later."
Yui smiled, "It's fine Satsu-chan!" She raced towards the other girl's side. "You should let Atsushi-chan eat his sweets, it's fine, really."
"B-But!" Momoi tried to protest, but she gave up when she saw the bright feeling emitted from Yui. "Ne, why are you so happy today Yui-chan?"
"Ah, you don't know?" Yui asked tilting her head to the side. Momoi didn't reply and Yui smiled widely, "Riko-chan is coming back! She's going to take us to a training area to train for the Summer tournament. I think she said she was going to come at 1:00 o'clock."
"Yui." Akashi said as he neared the pink haired girl and took out his watch, "It's 1:05."
"EH!? I'm late?!" Yui shouted and quickly looked around for the phantom six man, "Tetsu-chan! We're late! Wah...Riko-chan is going to kill us!" Then she paused for a second before looking at the members of the generation of miracles, "Did anyone see Kagami?" She asked.
.
.
.
Yui couldn't believe her luck and quickly said goodbye to her friends. She raced to see a bus closing their doors and slammed herself to the bullet proof glass. "Wait for me!" Yui shouted which sounded like a muffled sound of choking. The bus opened their doors and she landed on her back. "Itai!" As she walked in, the bus driver gave her a weird look, but she ignored it and spotted her old team. "BAKAGAMI! You left me and Tetsu-chan back there!"
"What?!" Kagami shouted, "I did not! Kuroko suddenly told me to leave and I thought you knew already!"
"I did not Kagami-kun." Kuroko said without looking at anyone in the eye.
'Kuroko...he's lying..." Everyone on the bus thought.
"Shut it already!" Riko shouted holding out a paper fan. "Yui, sit down and don't fight with Kagami." Then turning to the red head she smiled, "Kagami, I thought I told you and Kuroko to always try to keep an eye on her." Before Kagami could protest, their old coach shouted at them, "20 laps for you Kagami!"
With a large bruise on the back of Kagami's head, he sat down next to Kuroko.
Mitobe stared at Kagami, and Koganei translated for the silent man. "Mitobe said are you okay?"
"I'm fine, thanks senpai." Kagami said looking out the window.
"Let's talk about the schedule." Hyuga said catching the attention of everyone, "We'll have three-four hours of practicing. We'll stop at 4:30 and eat at about 5:00. Then we'll shoot some hoops and get to bed."
"Hm...Hungry...Food...four..." Izuki's eyes snapped open in realization, "When a clock is hungry, it goes back four seconds." Riko punched Izuki on the head and Kiyoshi tried to calm the girl down.
Then the tournament came in a blink of an eye. Everyone prepared for the day of the first game. It would be their very last one. Their last game together as their old team Seirin. It was unbelievable. But with some strings pulled in the background, they were not entering as high school students since most of the players graduated. Instead, they were placed into teams at Seirin was called, well, Seirin. There was also Shuutoku, Too, Rakuzan...etc.
"Alright!" Kagami shouted, "We're going to get a second chance to fight those guys again. Are you ready Kuroko?"
"Hai Kagami-kun." Kuroko said smiling.
As the members of Team Seirin left to go on the courts, Riko looked left and right. "Yui isn't here yet? She's late isn't she?"
A few miles far from the stadium, a short, pink haired girl sneezed. "Someone is defintely talking about me." Yui said shaking her head. She threw everything she knew she needed in a bag and raced down the stairs of her house. She stuffed a piece of toast in her mouth and threw some honey covered lemons in the bag. She made sure that the box was shut tightly, she didn't want it to spill.
"I'm late!" Yui shouted, "See you later okksan! otousan!" Yui shouted to her two parents who were only smiling at their energetic daughter.
Yui raced down the streets and a car stopped before her. "Eh? Who are you?"
A blonde lady came out of the car and smiled. "Hope in Yui! I heard from Kagami that you were late, I came to pick you up. I'm Alex."
Yui rushed in without a second thought before falling in tears.
"Ah! What's wrong?!" Alex asked throwing the girl in the passenger seat a tissue. She stepped her foot on the gas and the car zoomed towards the tournament.
"Bakagami can be surprisingly kind."
"Right?" Alex say with a grin, "despite his harsh look, he has such a soft heart but he can be an idiot too. We made it! Hurry Yui, I'll open the door for you!"
Yui placed something in her pocket and smiled, "I got it! You head first."
When she went out, she saw a wide stadium that welcomed her and gave her a strange feeling of home. It was nostalgic. Just a year ago, she wouldn't have imagined to come to a place like this and win with her team.
As the people walking outside dwindled, the loud blaring noises came from the stadium and shook the ground. Yui ran, ran until her feet could take no more. With a light flutter, a single photo dropped on the ground. A picture of everyone dear to her, Seirin and the generation of miracles.
She knew that no matter what she did in the future, nothing would change. They would all be connected under the great blue sky.
After all, life was just like that, to live to the fullest.
