Special:
94. A Hero's Legacy
…Previously on Dragon Ball Generations…
Unbeknownst to Goku his plea for energy had been heard by all twelve Universes who had been affected by the return of Omega-Ryu and his attempt at becoming the very fabric of the Universe itself.
"King Kai," The aged Goku smiled, his white hair wavering as the Spirit Bomb rose upwards until it rested on his hands. "Thank you so much and thank the people of the Universe!" He looked down at Omega.
Omega-Ryu raised his chest, seven red lights shot from the Dragon Balls forming a large black sphere with red crackling energy and he raised it above his head and hurled the Negative Karma Ball at Goku. "ENOUGH!"
It shot through the air and crashed into Goku in an enormous explosion filling the entire area with a red smoke and light reflecting against Omega's smiling face, but then his eyes widened and Omega's jaw dropped gasping for the first time since he'd returned, with this new peak of power, experiencing true fear.
As the smoke cleared revealing Goku with the Spirit Bomb held above his head.
Omega-Ryu took an involuntary step back. His body shook in fear, eyes wide. "I-Impossible, how did he do that?"
In the rubble, the azure light shining down on them Pan, Bra and Tien woke up and looked up in shock.
Vegeta pushed himself up and looked up mouth wide open, staring in amazement at the Universal power pumping through the Spirit Bomb.
Piccolo against the wall bleeding with his head bowed groaned before looking up and gasped at the Spirit Bomb staring in awe.
The Spirit Bombs light filled the entire planet, eliminating the faces of Omega-Ryu filling the sky and everywhere else in the Universe returning the blue sky of the Earth once again, shining down on Omega-Ryu singling him out, ready to bring judgement down upon him.
Goku stared down at Omega-Ryu. "This is it!"
Omega-Ryu's body shook as he looked up in absolute fear mouth wide open, eyes wide. "W-Wait hold on!"
Goku reared his body back and screamed as he focused on Omega-Ryu and hurled the Spirit Bomb down with all of his power.
"NO!" Omega-Ryu screamed, fear plastered over his face as the light of the Spirit Bomb reflected against his black keratin body, he held his hands up defiantly in futile hope that he could stop the Spirit Bomb, which crashed into the Earth and bore down onto him.
His body began to waver as the Spirit Bomb began to engulf him, tearing the ground beneath him apart, his body cracked like glass before his chest exploded revealing his skeleton before that and everything lifted up vaporising into absolute nothingness as the Spirit Bomb powered across the ground and shot up into the air and into space away from the Earth where it collapsed in on itself, dark energy shot out followed by a white/azure flash filling the entire cosmos and within that moment it was over, the light faded and then there was calm.
The evidence of the Spirit Bomb was the enormous trench scared into the Earth for miles heading towards the horizon. The morning sun shined down through the blue sky, Omega-Ryu was gone for good.
After being revived from the overuse of the Dragon Balls and almost annihilating all Mortals and Gods to start anew, Omega finally met his end at the hands of Goku and his friends.
Though with this victory came a price as Goku left with Shenron and the Dragon Balls, leaving the Earth in the hands of Uub and the others, never to be seen again…
But they would all be grateful as now, at long last, they and the rest of the world could enjoy a time of peace and harmony; a time to be with family and friends.
Almost a century has passed since that fateful day…
…And from that group of heroes that walked the Earth a century ago very few remain…
The butterflies danced in the blue sky, as the garden of tall colourful flowers swayed in the breeze. Grey gravestones in various shapes stood amongst the flower garden.
Besides one of the graves Pan was on her knees in a praying position eyes closed. Her once silk shoulder-length black hair was now grey. Her usual orange bandana now a yellow hat, the red yellow lined crop top and blue denim short shorts with the small chain, was now a purple hoody with an orange jacket and blue jeans. Her once youthful skin, now wrinkly – a testament to how much time had passed.
The large flowers scuffled as someone ran through them, a net in hand. "Oh no, you don't!" The boy playfully shouted jumping out of the flowers. His black messy hair wavered in the wind, his blue eyes filled with joy, wearing a blue and white top with Goku written on the front and yellow trousers with red shoes. He looked identical to Goku when he was a boy.
Laughing cheerfully he dived headfirst into the flowers and then walked over to where Pan prayed, dropping to his knees and clasped his hands together praying covered in flower petals, looking up with a smile. "Hello, how are you today? I'm fine Great Grandfather and Grandmother." He chuckled innocently at the tall Gravestone that said: 'SON FAMILY. GOHAN SON, SAVIOUR OF EARTH, DEVOTED SCHOLAR/RESEARCHER, LOVING FATHER & HUSBAND. DIED 13th DECEMBER AGE 855. AGE 98 YEARS. VIDEL SON, LOVING MOTHER & WIFE. DIED 8th MAY AGE 850. AGE 93 YEARS.'
"What a glorious day," Pan smiled, standing up with her cane, taking in the sweet scent. She looked down at Goku Jr. "Time to train, Goku. Come on."
Goku turned around and smiled, looking up at Pan. "Sounds good to me,"
"Your turn Goku, come on over!"
"Right!" Goku Jr sprinted as fast as he could across the green countryside but tripped and screamed as he flew flipping backwards and smashing into the side of a cliff face. Peeling off and hitting the ground.
A bead formed on the back of Pan's head as she stared in shock, looking down at her Grandson.
Sometime had passed and now the aged Pan stood on top of a large log, perfectly balanced. "It's all about staying relaxed." She said, stepping forwards and rolling the log forwards as Goku Jr watched. "Then balance and form come easy." She added as she the log barrelled down the cliff at speed as she walked on top of it.
"Just like a walk in the park, Goku. Go for it!" She shouted from the bottom of the hill as Goku Jr looked down and gulped.
He slowly clambered onto the log, but it budged and began to roll and he fell forwards, rebalancing as the log sped down the hill with him running and stumbling on top of it and falling as the log rolled on top of him squashing him into the ground continuing to speed off leaving Goku buried.
Pan stared mouth agape, her glasses falling off.
Some more time passed and now Pan walked forwards smiling, a baseball and mitten in hand. "Get ready!" She cocked her right hand back and threw the ball.
Goku Jr watched, holding his baseball glove up. "Got it!"
The ball sped forwards, hitting the glove and smashing into his forehead. He let out a painful wail as he fell backwards, hitting the ground.
Pan walked up to him and frowned a little. "What am I going to do with you? You can't even catch a ball."
Goku sat up, holding his throbbing head where the ball imprinted his skin. "You throw too hard, there's no way Grandma."
"No way? Your Great-Great Grandpa would never say those words," She looked up, reminiscing. "It didn't matter how bad things looked." She remembered her adventures in space when she, Bra, Trunks and Goku went looking for the Black-Star Dragon Balls, Baby, Raichi, Jero, Omega. "Even the most impossible situations, Grandpa always knew there was a way, and you could feel that when you were around him. That's what made him so great." Pan looked at Goku Jr who sat crossed legged and smiled. "If you train hard you'll be just like Grandpa some day, but you have to believe in yourself like Grandpa did."
Goku Jr stared. "Hey Grandma,"
"Yes?"
"I'm hungry." Goku Jr's belly rumbled and he stared at Pan wishing for food.
Pan was taken aback in shock, stumbling forwards.
"Please," He grabbed onto her wrist and pulled her forwards. "Please I'm starving Grandma." He held her hand walking onto the sunset.
"Oh well, at least you have your Great-Great Grandpa's appetite."
"Grandma, can you make me a Great-Great Cheeseburger?"
The next day, the sunlight beamed over Satan City.
The metallic soar of hover car peeped as they leisurely strolled in heavy traffic over the sound of chatter amongst the thousands of people walking the streets on their lunch breaks from work or just going about their days.
The large and long white building with the tower in the centre and a star shaped logo's clock was about to strike twelve.
Inside the school in a room with long brown desks ascending up the stairs sat fifty kids some taking notes others bored, clockwatching, whispering and a couple boisterous in the back as the blonde haired teacher read from the book.
"…But I don't believe in magic, said Tom" She said in a high-pitched voice. "What do you mean, you're an Elf? You have to believe in magic…"
"Hahahaha!" The boys in the back laughed as the chubby tanned boy with brown hair in a green shirt and red jacket gestured to throw a paper airplane.
"Just for that, you'll be spending recess with me tomorrow!" She pointed at the boy who gasped in surprise being caught red-handed.
Do. Do. Do… Doooo. The bell chimed and Goku Jr grinned happily, wearing the Orange Star School badge playing with his white rocket pen.
"Alright that's it for today. Class dismissed."
As the bell finished its song loud children burst out of the door, excitedly ready for the end of school for the start of the weekend.
Goku Jr walked with a smile, thinking about what he was going to do when he got home when suddenly a yellow boot stomped on top of his ankle tripping him over and down the stairs where he rolled to the bottom in pain landing face first.
His orange backpack opened up causing his rulers, notebook, pencils and pens to fall out.
He rubbed his throbbing head and turned. "What's the big ide –!" He stopped when he saw them at the top of the stairs, staring, laughing –
On the left a small skinny boy in orange shorts and a green vest and white undershirt with a blue cap on backwards, Turirin. On the right a lanky boy with glasses, blonde hair, pink hoody and grey tracksuit bottoms, Kamcha. In the centre the chubby tanned skinned boy in the green shirt, red jacket and blue trousers.
"Puck!" Goku Jr stammered, looking at the chubby boy as he got up and stepped back as the trio walked downstairs.
Puck looked down at the contents on the floor and knelt down picking up the white/blue pen with rocket on top, examining it. "Huh, well what do we have here?"
"M-my pen,"
Puck held the pen up. "My pen," He looked at Goku and smirked, glancing back at his friends who sniggered.
Goku Jr swallowed and forced a smile. "Well… Okay… You can have it…"
Puck's smile dropped and he frowned with the others at Goku. "Well aren't you gonna fight me for it, chump?"
"Yeah, come on you little gweeb," The lanky boy antagonised, walking up to Goku and put his hand on his head. "We know you've been training with Pan so let's see what you've got."
"Well I wouldn't call it training," Goku shivered. "It's more like exercise."
"Gimme a break," The shorter boy walked up, hands behind his head. "We know all about your Grandma dude, please. She's training you to be a fighter, so that means you want to fight, right?"
"I-I just train because it's fun," Goku stammered, holding his hands up.
Puck frowned. "There's nothing worse than a little coward." He smirked. "Man who would have believed that Pan's Grandson would turn out to be such a wimp." He turned around and walked away, flashing Goku's pen. "Thanks for the rocket pen,"
"LOSER!" The lanky boy leaned down, laughing at Goku.
The short boy crossed his arms. "Hey you stink," Walking away and turning around to stick his tongue out at Goku.
Goku squatted down, putting his things back into his bag and gave a sad smile with a chuckle. He was okay…
"…yet again another act of terrorism in East City occurred earlier today with strong suspicions that the New Order is behind the attack..." The New Reporter said her papers in front of her, as the small screen in the left enlarged showing the people in black cloaks firing a Ki-Blast at a train destroying it in a fiery explosion.
Pan frowned, her wrinkles defined holding the plate as the News lady continued to speak about the attack, the damage, the costs, the people injured, the lives lost, the suffering all to prove a point…
"Jaku…" She scowled, remembering her son's friend change over the years. Her encounter with him…
She frowned, turning the television off and at that moment Goku Jr walked through the door. "Hey Grandma…" He looked downcast as he immediately walked over to the kitchen and opened the fridge.
"Hey kiddo, had a good day?" Pan asked.
Goku Jr told her about his day as he rummaged. She grew irritated from the News story and now hearing this story about Puck and his friends…
"You just let him walk off with your rocket pen? Goku Jr what were you thinking?" Pan chastised, lecturing Goku Jr who rummaged through the fridge.
"I can buy another one." He replied.
"But it was yours. Why didn't you tell him to give it back?"
"There were three of them Grandma." He turned around. "And two of them were a lot bigger than I am." He looked back at the fridge, looking for food. "They would have beaten me up."
"You can't just let mean people walk all over you in life, Goku!" Pan lectured, holding a plate. "Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself, even if it means losing once in awhile -" Pan gasped, her chest clenched tightly, dropping the plate.
SMASH! The plate broke into pieces alerting Goku who turned to see Pan clutching the left-side of her chest, teeth gritted, cold sweat as gasped for breath before falling to her face unconscious.
Goku stared in shock before running to her. "Grandma, what's wrong?" He grabbed her arm. "Are you okay?" He pushed her. "Hey! Wake up Grandma, wake up! Please don't leave me Grandma!"
The sirens echoed…
The rain hammered down on the large Satan City Hospital, the ambulance flashing outside.
Beep… Beep-Beep… Beep-Beep… Beep… Beep-Beep-Beep-Beep… Beep... Beep… Beep…
Pan lay in the hospital bed, the doctor stood above her with two nurses either side.
"You can't leave me Grandma," Goku Jr said, worry in his voice as he looked at Grandma Pan in the bed. "I'll train really hard. I'll become super strong like Great-Great Grandpa." He clenched his fist, looking into Pan's eyes. "The next time those bullies try to take something from me I'll beat them all up I promise. Just don't die Grandma, what will I do without you?" He fought the brick in his throat.
"…You truly are a fine boy," Pan smiled, her wrinkles defining. "I can see I've been too hard on you. You'll have to forgive me for that. My father trained with Piccolo for a year, and he still ran away from his first fight but that's…how he learned. How he discovered his real strength."
"What's that?"
"Real strength? Having the courage to stand up for what's right."
Goku gasped, eyes widening.
Pan smiled at Goku and looked up, sweating. "You remind me so much of your Great-Great Grandfather." She furrowed, remembering her Grandpa the memories of him through her life flashing before her and then she looked at Goku Jr seeing that old man as a young boy. "It's amazing. You could be his twin. You're exactly like him in every way."
Goku Jr's eyes watered, his smile wavering. "W-What're you talking about, Grandma?"
Pan looked at her Grandson. "I saw it the day you were born. It's why we named you Goku." She smiled, holding back her tears. "You're a very special boy." She pulled her hand from the covers and placed it on Goku's left cheek. "And now you have to be strong."
"Grandma!" He grabbed her hand, tears streaming down his face. "Don't say that. I can't be strong. Not without you Grandma! I-I need you, please!"
"I love you." She smiled. "And I always will, nothing can change that." Her chest tightened again and she grimaced in pain fighting it.
"Grandma, Grandma!"
"Nurse I'm going to need some oxygen in here!" The old Doctor interrupted.
"Right!" The nurse ran off to get oxygen.
"Come on," The other nurse said placing her hand on Goku's shoulder and ushered him outside and closed the door.
"My Grandma, what's wrong with her? Is she going to be okay? Grandma!" He shouted over the nurse's shoulder. The door closed and the light above it turned red.
Goku stared at the door to the operating room with the green-haired nurse with glasses. She turned to him, looking down in empathy for the boy.
Goku looked up sadly. "She's not gonna die is she, nurse?"
The nurse gasped.
"Please, tell me." Goku Jr pushed.
"I-I don't know…" She stammered, unsure how to tell him.
Goku grabbed her hands. "She can't die," His eyes welled and his voice was breaking. "How can I live without my Grandma?!" He burst into tears and ran down the corridor, patients waiting watched him as he ran away.
He wailed as he ran out of the hospital into the pouring rain. "Please don't let my Grandma die, I'll do anything! Just don't let her die!"
He screamed, on aware of the man in dark clothing watching him.
Sometime had passed, but the rain continued to pelt the ground, cars passing with their headlights beaming outside of Pan's and Goku Jr's home. The mailbox with their faces drawn on and SON written on the side reflected the light of passing cars.
Inside and still drenched Goku Jr sat tucked in a ball on the sofa hugging a pillow.
"Grandma," He uttered, burying his head into the pillow. "Why is this happening? I just want you to be home again."
The light from a passing car lit up the house through the blinds, shining on the wall with a large picture of a young Pan holding the Four-Star Black-Star Dragon Ball with Giru on her shoulder she found on another planet. Underneath on the draws were numerous pictures of Pan and her friends throughout her lifetime.
Goku Jr looked up, his mouth open as he walked over to the picture and stared at it. "Grandma's Dragon Ball…" He thought aloud as he remembered when they first moved in and Pan put the photo up. He was sat on his games console, listening to his Grandma mildly interested.
"Look what I found Goku. I wasn't much older than you are now in this picture. This is me with my robot friend Giru and that's one of the magic Dragon Balls that I'm holding. I crossed the galaxy with Grandpa Goku looking for the Black-Star Dragon Balls." She looked up, reminiscing. "We couldn't have saved the Earth without them," Then she looked back at Goku Jr and gasped, before lowering her brow. Goku Jr had put his headphones back on and was playing his game not listening. "Goku…!"
'I'm sorry Grandma,' Goku thought. 'You tried to teach me so many things and I didn't listen.' He furrowed his brow. 'But I learned enough to know that the Dragon Ball has the power to make you well again.'
The light from a car shined through the window once more, Goku dropped the pillow and nodded knowing what he had to do.
The morning came, the street soaked with puddles as tiny blue birds flew down to bathe in the rainwater and drink.
Walking down the hill of his street was Goku Jr. He was wearing a dark blue Gi with a light blue undershirt, red wristbands and headband. On his back was a massive orange rucksack filled to the brim with food, water and other supplies for his journey. His brows were lowered as he pondered.
'Grandma said that Great-Great Grandpa used to have a house on Mount Paozu, maybe that's where the Dragon Ball is. Please hold on until I find it Grandma, I'm going to wish for your health back.'
"Well, well!" Those words snapped him out of his thoughts; he looked up to see Puck and his two friends with their bikes. In front of him was Kamcha, the lanky blonde boy with glasses in his pink hoody. "Look who it is, Mr. I-Train-For-Fun. Where do you think you're going?"
Goku clenched onto his rucksack, looking down with a shy smile. "Mount Paozu," He uttered.
"Gimme a break that's miles from here, how's a little wimp like you gonna make it to Mount Paozu by himself." He grinned.
"So what then," Turirin, the small boy with the blue cap walked up to Goku Jr. "You running away or did your Grandma throw you out cause you're a coward!" He elbowed Goku Jr, pushing him slightly.
Goku Jr clenched his fists, Puck watched and furrowed.
"Oh no, lookout I think you pissed him off!" Kamcha antagonised as Turirin laughed.
Goku Jr looked up. His eyes were fierce, brow lowered harshly as gold electricity crackled around him. "Get out of my way, right now." He said sternly.
"Make us!" Kamcha demanded.
"Yeah!" Turirin added.
Suddenly the golden light burst out and the Kiai Wave shot out of Goku Jr, knocking the boys back as the fell to the ground, now looking at Goku Jr in shock and fear.
Goku Jr walked forwards, brows lowered, looking at Puck who now stood in front of him in the middle of the road, brows lowered.
"Get him Puck!" Turirin encouraged.
"Yeah, kick his butt!" Kamcha added.
But Goku Jr just walked passed Puck ignoring him.
Puck looked over his shoulder surprised, watching Goku Jr walk away no longer afraid of him. For the first time, Goku Jr had stood up for himself.
A lot of time had passed. Now Goku Jr was walking across the highway as car zoomed past. He stopped and sighed, putting his hands on his knees. He was hot and exhausted.
He looked up and down the road, the pass of grass leading to the sandy desert like terrain. The speed sign began to blur as he stared and closed his eyes and shook his head before sighing once more. He fell back onto his rucksack and looked up.
A big lorry soared down the highway, peeping as it drove past Goku Jr on the edge of the pavement covering him in dust as he choked, looking up in shock now awake.
Then another lorry drove down and came to a stop. The window winded down and the fat lorry driver with long brown hair, beard, red cap and a dirt covered vest looked down at him. "What're you doin' kid, you hurt?"
"No just taking a little rest." Goku replied.
"Where ya headin'?" He took a bite of his burger.
"To Mount Paozu," Goku said, picking up his rucksack.
"That'll take forever,"
"Yeah,"
"…Wanna ride?"
"That'd be awesome!" Goku turned to him with a smile. "Thanks a lot mister!"
Time passed as the Moc's Macs lorry soared down the highway.
"This whole truck is filled with burgers!"
"Yep that's right, now reach back there and see if you can find my can opener."
Goku Jr turned around, opening the brow curtain to see an array of trash from the driver's gluttony. He looked at Goku and smiled. "You want a bite?" He offered his burger.
"Oh no thanks," Goku Jr said. "I've got plenty of food. My backpack is full of it."
The driver looked at the bag and smiled mischievously as he threw out the paper from his burger through the window and reached into the bag next to him for more food, but there was none left, just wrappers. He looked at Goku's rucksack again and stopped the lorry at the side of the road.
"Why are we stopping here?" Goku asked with a smile.
"Time to lighten our load, you know drain the main vein, take leaker? Unless you can hold it for two hours?"
At the thought Goku Jr realised how much he needed to pee and grabbed his crouch, squeezing his legs. "Two hours, I better go." He said, climbing out the lorry and ran to pee on the advertisement sign.
As the lorry driver picked up his bag, opened and flipped it upside down emptying all his drinks and food onto his seat.
Goku Jr smiled, peeing unaware.
"Hey," The fat man shouted, holding the empty bag. "You forgot your pack," He threw it out of the door.
Goku Jr gasped, turning. "What do you mean?" He said, as his empty bag hit him.
The lorry driver closed the door and waved. "Thanks for the grub kid." He laughed as he drove down the highway.
"What, hey come back here!" Goku shouted, running down the sidewalk. "You've got my stuff!" He stopped, watching the lorry speed away. "Wait…" He uttered sadly. He smiled despite this. "Perfect, right when I'm getting hungry…"
…Thirsty, hungry and tired Goku Jr after several miles of walking dragging his empty backpack behind him the boy eventually found himself at a small service station.
Grrr…
Goku's stomach rumbled, he came to a step holding his belly. "Oh, what am I gonna do…?" He thought, but suddenly the small pea sized paper ball pelted against his head, hitting the floor. He put his hand to his head and looked in the direction it came with a frown to see the boy.
"What're you so bummed out about dork?" Puck said eating popcorn, sitting outside the Heaven Thank Supermarket with a hat with a torch on it.
Goku Jr swallowed, looking at him uneasy then he sighed walking over to him. "This really nice man stole my food." He said next to Puck, sitting down holding his knees.
"Now how could he have been nice if he stole your food?" Puck asked. "You can't trust people on the road, especially nice people."
"Yeah I guess you're right." Goku replied, looking away and then back to Puck curiously. "Hey what're you doing all the way out here anyway?"
Puck looked at him and shrugged, putting his hands behind his back. "Cutting school and hiking to Mount Paozu, Lord Yao and his Demons live in that forest, if you're gonna get eaten I don't wanna miss it."
"We're going together?"
"Look," Puck looked up. "Not even I would've dreamed up a crazy stunt like this one, but you did so I'm sticking with you…" He looked at Goku Jr and lowered his brow. "Or would you rather run home to Grandma like a little coward?"
Goku Jr swallowed and lowered his brows. "No I'm going to Mount Paozu no matter what and nothings gonna stop me." He grit his teeth and looked down, thinking about his wish.
Puck stood up and looked down at him. "Oh yeah, what about food, you're not gonna make it on an empty stomach?" Puck said and then turned his gaze to the Heaven Thank's doors. He smirked and lowered his brow, mischievously. "Wait here…" He walked into the store.
Goku Jr waited for what felt like forever, sitting on his orange backpack resting his head in his palms. "What in the world is he doing in there?"
Suddenly the doors burst open and out came Puck with a trolley overfilled with food.
"HEY STOP!" The security guard exclaimed, chasing after him.
Goku Jr screamed as the trolley tilted forwards and scooped him up.
"Time to go!" Puck shouted laughing as he sped door the car park and down the highway.
"GET BACK HERE!"
"Sorry mister! I promise we'll pay you back!" Goku Jr shouted over Puck's shoulder as the went over and down the hill!
"WOOO!" Puck screamed in excitement as the trolley sped down the road. Inside the trolley under the food Goku crunched his eyes shut in fear.
BEEP! The loud horn of a lorry snapped his eyes open to oncoming lorry. "PUCK! LOOK OUT" He screamed –
Puck smirked, at the last second he swerved the trolley onto two wheels, narrowly missing the lorry as Goku screamed, the trolley bouncing over to the correct side of the flowing traffic weaving in and out of the way cars.
Once Goku felt safe he began to smile, the fear turning into excitement as he began to laugh.
"End of the road, hang on Goku!" Puck shouted laughing as the trolley shot into the sky off the break in the white fence as Goku and Puck laughed sliding down the hill and dropped onto their backs.
"And that Goku," Puck put his hands behind his head, looking at the smiling Goku "is how it's done."
"Pretty awesome Puck," Goku chuckled, falling back onto his back looking up through the trees at the clear blue sky. He smiled. "I could lay here all day."
Suddenly an arm appeared his face, the fist opening. "Snack time," Puck said as the caterpillar fell onto Goku's nose causing him to frantically wiggle to get it off as Puck laughed out loud.
The two talked and laughed for hours as they walked through the countryside, until they found an old rusty abandoned car next to a stream. The two boys climbed on the roof and urinated into the river.
And as Puck zipped up his fly a bit of urine splashed on his hands.
Goku Jr frowned in disgust and pointed. "Ew you got it on your hand!"
Puck looked at his hands and grinned, holding them up at Goku Jr who gasped before running through the stream from Puck who gave chase.
"Ew yuck, stay away from me!" He ran away, looking behind him to see Puck coming closer with his hands out laughing –
Then Goku saw it and suddenly stopped eyes wide and Puck crashed into him falling to the ground flattening Goku.
He pushed himself up looking at Goku. "Easy man, I could've killed you."
Goku lifted his head and pointed. "Look over there."
Puck blinked getting up and so did Goku, they walked to the edge of the cliff looking at what was in front of them.
"Is that?"
Goku turned to him and nodded.
"This is awesome. I feel like I could reach out and touch it." He said, staring out into the distance he could see the mountainous terrain of Mount Paozu. "This is awesome Goku. We found Mount Paozu!" He exclaimed, his voice echoing off into the distance.
The fire crackled cooking the meat and boiling the kettle in the centre of the makeshift camp in the middle of the forest.
Puck bit into his sausage and looked over at Goku Jr who had barely eaten his, leaning against a rock.
"Hey, if you don't like yours give it here I'll eat it."
"No I was just thinking about the reason I came here." Goku replied.
Puck blinked, wondering. "Yeah, why are we here anyway?"
Goku Jr looked at Puck sat on his sleeping bag past the fire. "I'm looking for a Dragon Ball. They're supposed to be magic; I heard they can make your wishes come true."
Puck closed his eyes and breathed out. "Dude that's just a fairytale, don't tell me you believe that mumbo jumbo…" He took a bite out of the sausage.
Goku nodded and hugged his knees. "I have too. It's the only hope that I have for making my Grandma well again."
Puck looked up surprised. "Your Grandma can't be sick she's way too tough for that." He said, remembering the News Broadcast a few years ago…
'…mobs breakout again in the masses led by the New Order…" The News Reporter said, Puck watched the television in horror on his sofa.
Fire and destruction reigned as a mob of protesters ransacked the city as the Police opposed them in groups with shields and batons.
Amongst the crowd were those antagonising and orchestrating the mobs in their black cloaks.
The camera panned to the roof of a small skyscraper. A man with short spiked black hair in a ripped orange and blue Gi down to his knees, scowling holding his blooded arm before his eyes rolled to the back of his head and he fell forwards hitting the roof's floor, unmoving
A man in a dark grey Gi with long black spiky hair looked down at him laughing.
Then an old woman with a yellow hat, purple hoody with an orange jacket and blue jeans landed in between them her face fierce.
The drone's camera zoomed in on the lady, it was Pan Son. One of the Supers from so long ago…
The lady was speaking, but the camera couldn't quite pick it up, though the man in the dark Gi's laughter was replaced with a scowl.
Then Pan gritted her teeth, her head snapped back as she clenched her fists to her side and screamed. The golden light erupted, azure lightning zapping outwards cracking the camera and as soon as the energy flashed upwards the drone exploded and the camera cut out.
"…She's so powerful, quite a lady." Puck remembered and then looked down. "Sorry, she's not doing well."
Goku buried his head into his knees and arms. "She's dying… My Grandma's dying…" He cried.
"Listen man, don't talk like that. She'll be fine, besides if you want to hang out with me you can't be crying." Puck said, unaware that a wolf on the cliff was watching, teeth gritted as it stared the campsite down and stalked them. Tens of red eyes began to light up in the dark forest.
Atop the tree, another in a dark cloak watched the two. 'The Dragon Ball…'
"Okay,"
Puck threw his stick into the fire and reached into his pocket. "Oh, and by the way," He pulled out the rocket pen, got up and walked over to Goku who looked up. "This is yours." He handed the pen back.
Goku gasped, tears in his eyes as he stared at the pen.
"Well go on. Take it, dork." Puck said, staring at Goku brows lowered. "It's not cool enough for me." He placed it in Goku's hands and crossed his arms.
"Gosh...thanks, Puck." Goku smiled, looking at his pen.
Puck blushed and looked away.
Then he noticed and froze. The tens of hundreds of red eyes in the trees glowed. His body shook, eye wide with fear as he looked around, large crimson coated wolves with sharp teeth began to slowly walk out from the trees growling.
He stepped back. "Goku…" He said, the boy oblivious to it all stared at his rocket pen until Puck turned to him and shouted. "RUN!"
A wolf roared as it pounced from the trees saliva pouring from its sharp-fanged mouth and as soon as it did all of the other wolves pounced out towards Puck and Goku!
Goku screamed in fear –
Puck reached to the fire and grabbed a flaming log and began to swing it at the wolves keeping them away –
Goku sprinted away as several wolves ran alongside her ready to attack –
"Keep going Goku! Don't look back keep going!" He jumped over a rock and came up to a large tree. Dead end… He put his back to the tree and stared in fear at the large pack of wolves that growled at him.
"S-Somebody help me." He said, his body shook his lip quivered.
A lone wolf stalked forwards, growling viciously preparing to lunge.
Goku squeezed his eyes shut tears streaming as he fell to the floor and covered his body. At this moment the wolf roared and leapt forwards as did the others but before they covered him a white light flashed from him and he screamed zapping up into the air as the wolves crashed into the tree –
"Goku!" Puck exclaimed, in his distraction, a wolf hit him from behind pushing him to the ground and several wolves jumped on him, preparing to bit his neck.
PEW! The bullet flashed past the wolf and ricocheted across the ground. The wolves turned to where the bullet came from and saw the blonde haired women in a white top and red jeans wielding a shotgun, a lantern by her side.
"Get away from him you beast right now!" She fired again and the wolves fled.
As the crunching of branches and leaves began to quiet from the fleeing wolves the woman lowered her shotgun and picked up the lantern.
"My goodness, what are you doing out here by yourself? You could've been eaten." She walked towards Puck with a smile.
Puck pushed himself up. "What? I'm not by myself." He looked up at the lady who crunched down.
"Well, you could've fooled me." She giggled with a smile.
"Err," Puck thought for a moment before gasping, eyes wide. "Goku!" He ran up to the tree where the wolves pounced on him. "…He was right here?" He frowned, the two looked around. "GOKU!" Puck shouted, hands cupped around his mouth.
Then Goku's screamed shot out echoing around the woods.
Puck and the lady looked up.
"Somebody help me, I'm stuck!" Goku screamed, grasping onto the top of the tree wailing in fear. "PUCK! Why am I up here? Please! Somebody get me down!" He cried. "I want to get down!"
Puck and the lady looked up, their mouths agape staring at Goku in surprise. How did he get up there?
A few hours had passed, smoke poured out from the large house in the woods' chimney. The lights from the windows lit up the dark forest a little.
Finally down from the tree Goku Jr sat down at the mahogany table and slurped the warm soup from his spoon as did Puck.
The lady brought a large bowl of fruit out and rested it on the table with the array of meats and vegetables.
Puck smiled and turned to her. "This is the life, thanks for the dinner mam and we thought we were gonna be roughing it out here."
The lady smiled, now were a pink dress with a blue hood, jewelled necklace and tiara. "You're welcome and don't be shy, you can have as much as you want so dig in oh and I've got some warm beds for when you finish." She said walking away, looking over her shoulder at them both as they ate with a smile before closing the door, walking into the dark corridor.
She giggled. "Oh my, just the big one alone is a buffet dinner…" Her blonde grew wild sticking out to the sides turning ginger. Her ears pointed out turning blue along with the rest of her body. She smirked. "What an unexpected treat..."
"Bucka…" The odd sound of a deep-voiced chuckling chicken echoed out through the corridor. The lady turned and frowned at the light on the wall. "Mamba," The light twisted and enlarged into a white form. "Certainly you weren't planning on hogging them all to yourself." The wings spread and the yellow eyes illuminated around the beak, the red hair lifted up.
Then green ooze began to seep up through the floorboards and formed into the large sharp-toothed grin head of a frog. "Now that wouldn't be polite would it?" He jumped out from the ground, wearing white trousers and a light green sash, twin scimitars on his back.
"Look I found them you two can split the little one, but the fat one's mine."
"Alright," The fat frog humanoid said, as the tall rooster jumped down to the floor wearing a grey armoured chest plate and white trousers.
Later that same night… The crickets sang outside the house in the middle of the forests of Mount Paozu.
In the room Goku and Puck were tucked in their beds, both staring up at the ceiling unable to sleep.
"She's really nice," Goku said blankly.
"Err yeah, super nice." Puck replied.
Goku turned his head towards him. "This sounds weird but I don't trust her for some reason…"
"Huh?" Puck turned to Goku and lowered his brow curiously.
In the dark corridor footsteps creaked against the old floorboards and then the door opened.
Mamba shifted forwards, pulling the long sharp knife from behind her back and grinned sadistically as she pulled it above her head, the knife glimmered pointed down to the bed and she stabbed!
The knife ripped from the covers and into what was underneath and through the bed. Mamba frowned, that didn't feel like flesh.
She grabbed the cover and ripped it off the bed to see her knife had stabbed through the pillow. She gasped. "He's gone!" She frowned. "How could they know?" She said, looking around the room.
Outside the two stood on the roof, holding onto the window frame and glanced through to see the witch looking around the room for them.
"Busted, but how did you know?" Puck said, looking at Goku.
Goku turned away from the window and smiled at Puck. "It's like you told me at the store, 'never trust nice people when you're on the road', don't you remember?"
"You're a genius," Puck said and was about to smile when –
"Not quite!" Mamba shouted grinning as the windows burst out causing Goku and Puck to lose grip on the window frame.
Thud! Goku and Puck hit the ground hard.
Puck got up instantly and pulled Goku up. "Come on man!" He ran forwards a little and froze when he saw the sleeping big bulky dog, behind him a great big spiked fence surrounding the backyard. He took a step back on instinct as Goku looked up and screamed at the sight –
The dog's eyes snapped open and his eyes narrowed on the boys, gritting his teeth he immediately stood up and began to bark and growl –
Puck quickly turned throwing Goku over his shoulder and jumped through the open window –
The dog sprinted forwards –
Puck screamed, twisting around and slammed the window shut and locked it as the dog barked saliva spraying against the window. "Come on!" He shouted and ran down the hallway with Goku. "Front doors gotta be around here somewhere!"
"Wait up!" Goku shouted, running as fast as he could turning to see Mamba feet and legs appear in the ceiling as her body sank through and she floated towards them like a ghost as Goku screamed.
Then Mamba stopped, watching them flee as she pulled on the light –
The floor opened underneath them and they fell through the trapdoor screaming in terror and shock!
Puck hit the tiled ground face first and Goku landed on his butt, grabbing it in pain with gritted teeth.
Puck pushed himself up and looked around to see an enormous pot held by a rope over a firepit.
"Wow! Look at the size of that pot, lucky we didn't land in it!" Puck chuckled in relief.
"Oh but the nights still young, you'll find yourself in there soon enough." Mamba said, appearing on the edge of the pot her weight lowering it slightly as she looked down at the two, holding the large sharp butchers knife.
Puck and Goku looked up eyes wide and bodies shaking in utter terror, hearing the pot boiling behind her.
Mamba looked at her knife. "I'm making my special pasta and you two are the meatballs." She said, as boys backed away slowly. "There's nothing like human meat…" She said, licking her lips. "If its cooked right it just melts off the bone and I'm famished," She jumped down from the pot in front of the two.
The boys backed away hitting the wall.
Goku held his hands up and smiled awkwardly and Puck looked at him with a sigh. "Wait but you were so nice and pretty before. Someone that beautiful would never do anything to hurt us."
Mamba's glare shifted into a curious look, she blushed. "You thought I was beautiful," Poof, she transformed into the blonde haired human woman she was before with a mirror in hand, looking at herself. "Oh yeah, guess you're right I am cute!" She said, her voice was high again. "Gosh that's so sweet of you!" Then she in her mirror Goku edging to the doorway –
The knife shot forwards, stabbing through the doorway frays of Goku's black hair hit the ground as the knife narrowly whizzed past his ear. The two boys stared at the knife in shock and fear.
Mamba's body shifted back into the long ginger haired Witch she was before. The mirror vanished and she turned to Goku with a grin. "Just for that, you die first!" Her hair suddenly lifted up –
Goku and Puck gulped, stepping back there was no way out –
Then her hair shot forwards, elongating and coiled around Goku snapping around his neck tightly lifting him up into the air as he struggled for breathe clawing onto the hair around his throat.
"Ha, ha, ha, ha," Mama sniggered, fists clenched. "Struggling only makes it tighter!"
Puck's body shook as he stared. Then he lowered his brow and grit his teeth. "That's it!" He looked at the barrel and lifted it up with a grunt above his head. Then several human skulls and bones fell out and he froze in fear at the sight, eyes bulging.
Goku screamed, eyes squeezed shut –
Mamba laughed out loud, watching him struggle –
Regaining his composure Puck ran to the wall and grabbed a pan. "Alright drop him!" He demanded.
Mamba's sight turned to him. "You're in no position to bargain tubby, now watch closely because you're next." She held her hand out, a black energy glowed shrinking down and flashed green elongating into a scythe. Mamba brought Goku closer to her and smirked, the boy's struggles grew weaker until his breath escaped his body and he went limp.
"How disappointing," Mamba looked at the unconscious Goku. "You didn't last long at all." Her smirk turned into a grin as Mamba brought the scythe over her shoulder and prepared to swing –
Then Goku's hand began to buzz with golden electricity. His eyes opened, pupils turning green –
Mamba swung but as fast as she did Goku's hand lifted up, she gasped seeing this before the Kiai exploded from his hand blowing her back hitting the wall hard, cracking it as she fell to the floor, head slumped as she fell unconscious.
Goku fell forwards as the scythe hit the ground, hair still wrapped around his neck as he also hit the floor unconscious.
As this happened Puck had ran up the wooden stairs to the pot and used a long piece of wood to tip it slightly, the boiling red liquid poured out splashing and pooling around Mamba waking her up in shock as she jumped up and clung onto the rope in terror.
He jumped down and ran to Goku the steam from the liquid filling up the room. "This is our chance man let's bounce!" He said, grabbing the scythe and grabbed Mamba's hair around Goku's neck and chopped it off severing the hair before he shook Goku's body and woke him up.
"W-What happened?" He said feeling light-headed, putting his hand to his head.
"Less talking more running dude!" Puck said, ushering him as he uncoiled Mamba's hair from his throat and the two ran through the corridors and out the front door and sprinted into the forest!
"You can't escape me! I'll find you!" She screamed, her shriek echoing from the house into the dark night.
Goku and Puck sprinted away as fast as they could up the hill.
"Is she coming?!" Goku shouted as he sprinted away.
"I don't know. Don't look back, just go!" Puck replied eyes squeezed shut, praying.
They stopped at the summit. In front of them was a wooden rope bridge over an enormous drop into darkness.
The boys came to a stop, hands on knees panting.
"When I get back… If I ever get back, I'm gonna train…with you and your Grandma… I'm dying..." He panted hard, sweat pouring from his forehead as Goku slumped forwards breathing heavily and fell to his hands and knees when he saw the bridge.
"What are you doing?" Puck looked at Goku. "Get up man, we can't stop here, we gotta go!"
Goku crawled forwards, looking down into the abyss. "I can't go across I'm scared of heights."
"Well, I'm scared of pretty blue man-eating she-demons with butcher knives so let's go!" Puck shouted.
"I can't Puck." He looked at him and back at the bridge. "It doesn't look safe. I'm scared."
Puck walked across the bridge. "There's nothing to be scared off Goku look." But then the moment he finished his sentence the wood beneath his right foot gave way and he fell through.
"Puck!" Goku exclaimed.
Puck clung onto the bridge, he was now frozen in fear. He swallowed, it was either this or the demon and without another thought he pulled himself back up and continued to walk across holding the rope.
"See Goku look, I'm twice your size and I got across. It's totally safe now come on." He shouted from the other side.
Goku swallowed and began to walk across the bridge, his body shook as he held the rope handle tightly. He got about halfway before he stopped and looked down into the darkness, his stomach tightened and his legs felt weak, everything began to spin.
"What, no don't look down Goku! Come on keep going!" He encouraged.
Goku fell to his knees and fought to control his breathing. He looked at Puck who cheered him on. "Come on Goku, you can do this. I'm not scared." He said with teary eyes, he swallowed and crawled towards Puck.
"Come on Goku that's good you're doing it. Don't look down just keep moving, okay!"
Just as he was about to make it a light lit up the area and the yellow arrow shot down, over Puck's shoulder narrowly missing his head and into cut through the bridge ripping the wood apart and cutting the rope!
Goku gasped!
Puck screamed. "NO, GOKU! JUMP!" He exclaimed, watching the bridge collapse –
And as Puck said it Goku leapt up into the air and clung onto the side of the cliff, the wooden bridge slamming against the other side of the cliff, wood falling down into the darkness.
"Puck, help me, please! I'm scared!" Goku exclaimed, Puck dropped down to his knees and grabbed onto Goku's wrist and with a heave he pulled him up falling onto his back and the boys breathed in relief, but it was short-lived when they heard the laughter and then turned their sight to the sound and saw him.
Standing in the pathway was a tall man. The grey cloak covered him in the darkness, blowing in the wind.
Goku got up slowly and stared at the figure, the sniggers stopped, only silence now.
Puck clenched his fists, worrying. 'Another demon?' He thought. "Hey, who are you dude, you with them?"
"No. I am not," He lifted his tanned hands to his hood. "I'm far worse than that measly demon you contended with…" He pulled his hood down revealing his long black spiked hair that fell down his back. His face sharp, a scar ran down from the right side of his forehead down to his left cheek. His crimson pupils narrowed at the trembling Goku.
Puck gasped, this man looked familiar. Where had he seen him before?
"W-What do you want?" Goku said. "Why are you staring at me like that?"
"You're the last of them…" Jaku said. "Now that Pan's gone, there's no one on this planet that can oppose me and with you gone that is assured."
Goku's chest tightened at the mention of his Grandma. "My Grandma's not gone! I'm gonna get the Dragon Ball to wish for her health back!"
Puck stepped forwards, teeth gritted. "Listen pal, I don't know what you're talking about. How about you tell us who you are?!"
"What? You mean to tell me you don't know who I am," He smirked. "Hm, hm, hm I'm the leader of the New Order, the great Jaku." He sniggered with a smile.
Puck swallowed, his eyes widened. He remembered the News and his body shook. "W-Why are you here then?" He said his heartbeat frantic as he stared the villain in the eyes.
Jaku pointed at Goku. "I'm here for him, the Saiyan. He's a potential threat to me and because of that I want to see personally that he dies by my hand." He clenched his fist to his face and smirked.
"W-Who me?" Goku uttered, his body shook.
"Saiya…jin? What are you on about dude?" Puck furrowed. "Listen Goku's not a threat to anyone." He clenched his fist and forced himself to grin, sweat formed on his forehead as he pointed his thumb to his chest. "But me on the other hand, I'm the toughest here so if you wanna fight come at me, bro."
Jaku frowned, cocking his head back. "Oh really? Then come fight me fat boy."
Puck growled at the comment, his blood boiled and he screamed running at Jaku with his fist cocked back.
"Puck stop!" Goku exclaimed reaching out, watching as his friend sprinted at the motionless man.
"Take this!" Puck threw his fist, but at this moment Jaku stepped to the twisting around and placed his palm on Puck's back before unleashing a Kiai winding the boy as he was sent barrelling face first along the rocky terrain.
"No stop it!" Goku shouted.
Jaku looked at the unmoving boy. "Hn," He lowered his hand and turned back to Goku. "Now Goku, it's time. How about you try to fight me just like your father and grandma tried many years ago…"
"My Father?" Goku uttered furrowing. "He died when I still a baby, how can you know about him?"
Jaku grinned. "I killed your Father. He opposed the New Order and I destroyed him with my own hands and now you'll be next!" He shouted pushing his hand out and at that moment it twisted and morphed into a cannon firing a cannonball straight at the shocked Goku who dived to the side in reflex near the edge of the cliff before he let out a squeal seeing the drop and rolled to away.
"Interesting," Jaku smiled.
Goku looked back at Jaku. "What do you mean you killed my father, how? My Grandma told me he died in a car accident with my mother."
"Hn," Jaku snorted. "Looks like Pan sheltered you from the truth. Your mother and father were killed by me boy and you'll follow them to the grave!"
"Stop it you're lying!" Goku Jr screamed, eyes tearing, his black hair wavered.
Jaku frowned noticing this. He immediately dashed towards Goku and smashed a side kick into his chest sending the boy flying and smashing into a tree, cracking the wood.
Goku screamed in pain as he fell to his hands and knees panting hard but shallow. He began to cry, his back was in agony. He was about get up and run but before he got get away -
Thffft! Jaku appeared and stamped his foot down onto Goku's head pressing him down against the ground.
"You're nothing like your father kid, your grandma especially…" Jaku scowled, looking down his foot pressing down on Goku Jr's hurt as the boy cried in pain. "Not a shred of fighting spirit, just a little coward." He said, grinding his foot against his head.
Goku's wails shocked Puck awake, his eyes snapped open. His face was grazed, clothing ripped slightly. "Goku…" He said, looking over at the boy on the ground with Jaku's foot on his head, back turned to him. He grit his teeth and reached out grabbing a rock.
Jaku grit his teeth, grinding his foot looking down at the howling boy who cried clawing the floor to get up. He sneered and lifted his foot off Goku's head and kicked him to the side where he rolled to the edge of the cliff crying in pain.
He looked at the child for a moment with a scowl.
"This is the end. What a miserable end for a proud warrior race." Jaku lifted his palm up and a yellow energy ball began to ignite in his hand. "Your lineage ends here -"
"LEAVE HIM ALONE MAN!" Puck screamed, cocking his hand back the rock squeezed tight as he ran towards Jaku.
"What?" The man turned, his energy ball dissipated. "Enough!" Jaku shouted, twisting around backhanding Puck sending him flying towards the edge of the cliff where he rolled to his feet about to charge back when –
Goku opened his eyes and gasped –
Jaku lifted his hand and fired the Kiai smashing into Puck's chest sending him flying over the edge –
Puck fell and screamed "GOKU!"
"NO PUCK!" Goku screeched, reaching out over the edge of the cliff watching his screaming friend fall down into the darkness with tears in his eyes. "No, no, please! Puck…"
Jaku's laughter echoed causing Goku to grind his teeth, his body shook with rage.
"Hahaha, I wouldn't worry too much, Goku. You'll be joining him soon enough" Jaku grinned maliciously, looking at Goku Jr on the edge of the cliff.
"…Y…You… How could you…" He cried, standing up and turned around to look at Jaku, electricity buzzed his hands.
Jaku noted this and lowered his brows. "Now fall with your friend!" He dashed forwards, cocking his leg back and side-kicked Goku hard in the chest sending him flying over the edge, screaming and crying in pain as he fell into darkness.
Jaku smirked, hearing Goku Jr scream as he fell into the dark abyss. He closed his eyes and chuckled. 'The last of the Saiyans is dead… At long last I can -"
Dizzzit –
The moment the sound reverberated through the dark crevice the boy instantaneously appeared on his feet, his dark messy hair, now erected, electricity crackled before his body wobbled, his eyes closed and he dropped to his knees down to his face, unconscious…
Jaku turned in shock, that warping echo finally silencing. He glanced back at the crevice dumbfounded and back to the boy. "How did he…?" He frowned, his arm morphed and extended into a sharp sword which he held to his side. "He must be continuing to unlock more of his powers? No matter," Jaku began to walk towards the downed child. "His death is assured now," He stopped in front of the boy, looking down he brought the sword above his head and scowled screaming as he prepared to kill Goku –
SMASH! The blue boot smashed into Jaku's face sending him grinding across the ground and tearing through several trees in the dark woods before coming to a stop, smoke and rubble crashing down alongside the trees.
Jaku's body shook, he couldn't get up his black Gi was torn and he was blooded, struggling to comprehend on who had struck him with such force. With dazed vision he looked up to see the man in an orange Gi with blue wristbands and sash. His skin was brown, with long white hair in the shape of a Mohawk hanging down to his waist like an antenna. His glare was on Jaku for a long moment before turning to the boy, kneeling down, picking him up. A yellow cloud swooped down and the man climbed onto it, sitting down before it launched into the air through the trees in a yellow stream.
Then Jaku breathed out, his head dropped back as he fell unconscious.
In the sky, Goku Jr's face stirred, looking up for a second to see the old man's dark wrinkled face. He looked down his brown/red eyes stared at him, familiarly for a moment before the boy fell unconscious once more…
"You'll find out who you are one day, Goku Jr Son. I promise."
…And then he awoke again.
Only now it was morning, his eyes blurry as he found himself now on sort of boulder in the middle of the forest. He yawned, stretching off.
Then he gasped looking around, where was Jaku, who was that man who saved him? Then he looked down sad, remembering what had happened before he was kicked off the cliff, he felt his bruised and cut face. "Puck…" He sniffled, swallowing as he stood up and held the handles of his backpack before walking up the path…
He had been walking all morning and was now slumped up against a tree alone. He looked up downcast.
The fire crackled, with the spaghetti and meatballs that sizzled in the boiling pot. He removed the pot from the fire and settled it down on the floor, waiting for it to cool enough for him to eat…
He looked up and remembered Puck laughing and eating from last night… He swallowed the lump in his throat and closed his tear pricked eyes, forcing the spaghetti down his throat.
Some more time passed as Goku continued his journey alone, coming up to another cliff, a large fallen tree bridged the drop like the bridge had last night… He looked down at the large drop to a river below, he looked up and saw Puck waving.
"Goku! What're you waiting for man? Come on you can do it! Come on over!"
"Puck it's you! You're alive!" Goku smiled and then Puck's words began to echo as he faded away… His mind had played a cruel trick on him, his eyes watered and his lip quivered as he swallowed and forced himself to walk up the tree trunk, not looking down.
He walked along the path, looking down sadly titling his rocket pen right to left, the tiny astronaut inside floated back and forth.
"Why'd you do it…" He said tears flowed down his face as he remembered Puck falling off the cliff. "You should have just ran away and let him kill me…"
"LEAVE HIM ALONE MAN!" Puck's scream echoed through his head, remembering him charge at Jaku.
"I saw it the day you were born. It's why we named you Goku. You're a very special boy." He remembered Pan's words as she lay in the hospital bed.
"But I'm not… Why can't I be brave like you, Grandma?" He thought aloud and then the sound of screeching made him jump as he turned fearfully to the rustling grass.
Then bursting out from the tall grass was a small brown bear which ran towards Goku and then around and behind him cowering and shaking in fear.
"I know you're there bear, I can smell ya!" A strong thick Scottish accent rang out from the grass and then the large frog monster with swords on its back lunged out, landing down a few metres from Goku.
He looked at Goku and laughed. "Hey the bear's mine, get away from him or I'll kill ya too,"
The bear bore his teeth in fear, looking up at Goku before bowing his head and looked up pleadingly.
Goku looked down at him and then back at the frog monster who sniggered and then back at the bear before he turned tail and ran away.
He ran away as fast as he could, eyes wide and strained. "Run Goku, don't look back, don't look back!" Images of the bears pleading face plagued his mind. "Keep running!" He scrunched his eyes shut. 'What am I doing, what would Puck do? What would Grandma do?'
"Real strength? Having the courage to stand up for what's right."
Goku's eyes snapped open. He lowered his brow furiously, turned back and sprinted back to the bear.
The frog-like demon looked down at the quivering cub, tongue sticking out. "A cub sandwich," He opened his mouth wide and prepared to eat the small bear whole.
Smash! The stick whacked down on his head, causing him to bite his tongue. He blinked a few times in surprise. Then he turned to see the boy, holding a stick, noticeably quivering in fear.
"Oh, it's you, for a second there thought I was in trouble," He sniggered. "Hang on, wait a second… You're the one who escaped from Mamba,"
Goku Jr's body tensed, swallowing his grip tightened around the stick.
"Well I'm glad you escaped, 'cause now I don't need to share you with anyone!"
Goku grit his teeth and lunged forwards, swinging the stick!
It snapped into pieces as the monster swung his massive tail and punched Goku in the jaw, snapping his head to the side and sent him skidding across the ground.
Then the monster jumped up high and came down mouth first, biting down on Goku's upper body down to his waist. His eyes widened, feeling a heat –
Goku screamed! The golden energy erupted blowing the monster off him before quickly fading sending him flying across the forest screaming as he became a small dot as he flew further and further out of sight.
Goku breathed out, falling to his hands…
Later he recovered and sat down with cub, wrapping a bandage around his wounded paw.
"So I'm out here looking for the Dragon Ball you see, because the Dragon has the power to heal my Grandma." He finished tying the bandage and looked up. "I was doing great until we met this guy made my friend Puck fall off the bridge… I'm pretty sure he's dead. Poor Puck…I wish it was me, not him..."
The cub looked at him for a moment before leaning towards Goku and licked his face.
Goku gasped, looking at the little bear and smiled. "Are you trying to cheer me up? You understand."
The bear smiled and Goku laughed happily, then the sudden roar caused him to scream as he looked up and saw the gigantic bear towering above him looking down at him menacingly.
"I-didn't-do-anything-I-swear-I was-just-trying-to-help!" Goku exclaimed all in one as he backed away, his body shook in terror.
Then the bear cub walked up the big bear with a smile and grunted softly causing the large bear to calm and smile and listen to the cub. Then the larger bear turned to Goku and grinned.
Goku looked at the bear, still shaken. "You mean you're not gonna eat me?"
The cub continued to talk to his mother and the mother nodded before walking up to Goku who had put his things back into his backpack and slung it over his shoulders, he turned to the bear. "I have to go now -"
He let out a gasp as the mother bear picked him up and slung him onto her back. "Hey wait what you're doing?" He asked, looking at the cub who began to walk up the path. "Oh hey, wait I get it. You want me to stay with you, you're gonna take me to the Dragon Ball, huh?"
The small cub turned back to Goku and grinned.
The three travelled for miles up the path and then Goku gasped, spotting the small house with the pointed dark blue roof.
"Hey, look over there!" He grinned, pointing with excitement. "That must be my Great-Great Grandpa's old house, come on!" He jumped off the bears back "Haha! We did it! We found it you guys!" and ran down the path as fast as he could laughing when –
Goku gasped and came to a stop, eyes wide as the trio who blocked the path. "It's you again!"
"Hm, hm, hm…" Mamba sniggered; her orange hair was shorter now. "Don't act so surprised, you butchered my hair," She growled, venom in her voice, hands on her hips. "I had to track you down and kill you so sorry,"
"Buck, buck, buck," The large rooster-like monster, "But Mamba, you like better that way,"
Mamba blushed and held her face, giggling.
"Hey you two love-birds, he's getting away!" The frog monster shouted and the two gasped, turning to see Goku running away down the path with bears!
"Bucka! I'll peck his lil eyes out!" The rooster shouted and gave chase with the others.
"Curse that runt he is so dead!" Mamba hissed, running alongside the demons after Goku who suddenly disappeared.
They stopped.
"How they disappear?" The rooster shouted.
The frog walked up in front. "It's that kid, he has strange powers."
"That's what I said!" Mamba affirmed.
"Buck, buck, gimme a break…" The rooster said as he shook his head.
In reality, the trio had fallen down a small cliff and lay on the floor in pain.
The three demons walked to the edge of the cliff and looked down to see the two bears and child laying on the floor in pain.
"Pfft, that's what you call strange powers!" The rooster jumped out and spread his wings flying down.
Goku and the bears gasped, getting up to their feet and ran down the hill with the rooster quickly gaining on them when –
BOOM! A pink/red spiralling energy sphere burst out from nowhere causing Goku to suddenly stop, his eyes widening as he instinctively covered himself with his arms as the blast hit him sending him skidding back before it engulfed and exploded around him!
The mother bear and her cub gasped.
The rooster's eyes widened, the shockwave of the blast throwing him from the sky to the ground as he looked up at the wall of smoke from the explosion.
"Ha, ha, wa, ha, HAHAHAHA!" The deep voice laughed as the large brown boot slammed into the ground.
The mother bear's fur stood on end as she grit her teeth snarling Lord of Mount Paozu.
"Go ahead bear, attack." He laughed. He wore white trousers, a green sash and red belt with blue yellow trimmed armour covering his enormous purple furred boat. His teeth razor sharp, twin fangs sticking out from the back of the bottom of his jaw up towards his snout. His right hand stretched out, smoke still emitted from his hand from the Ki-Blast that he had shot. "If you think you can defeat the Great Lord Yao that is."
Mamba and the frog shook in fear.
"Lord Yao, the Demon King?" Mamba uttered.
"Mamba," He said, staring at her then his eyes trailed to the frog monster who gulped. "Susha," He then looked over at the rooster who began to stand visibly shaken and hurt from the shockwave of his blast. "And Torga, you should be ashamed of yourselves the three of you couldn't deal with a little kid."
The three demons gasped and got down to their knees, pleading for forgiveness. "We're sorry!"
Suddenly, the sound of a groan echoed out alerting the four demons their eyes trailing the explosion, the smoke cleared revealing Goku.
"Ow, that hurt." He said, rubbing his forehead as he climbed out of the crater, his clothes torn and singed, his body grazed but otherwise he was fine.
And that was a moment that Mamba would never forget, Lord Yao, Lord of Mount Paozu King of Demons gasped.
Yao's eyes widened in utter shock, questions flooded his mind. "What?!" He raged, fury consuming him as he inhaled through his pink snout and fired the pink blast at the ground causing an enormous explosion that threw the bears, the demons and Goku hurtling to the sides.
Goku crashed into the side of the cliff, leaving a crater of his frame in the wall before he fell out and landed face first onto the ground in pain.
The ground shook under Yao's steps as he walked over to Goku who pushed himself up and turned to see Yao's large brown boot hovering over him, the demon sniggering.
"Wait! What did I do? Why do you want to kill me?!" Goku exclaimed, looking up at the large brown boot ready to stamp down on him.
"I don't need a reason. You're human that's good enough!" Yao exclaimed, laughing.
The mother bear prepared to charge when her eyes widened, sensing it –
Then the yellow missile of energy shot down and Yao looked up at the last second to see the energy shooting down towards him, reflecting against his skin and he screamed out before it violently exploded into him in an explosion of smoke and debris. The shockwave threw Goku to the side like a ragdoll.
Everyone gasped, looking at the scene confused and afraid.
Goku hit the floor hard and pushed himself up holding his arm in pain, before he looked up and saw him. His eyes widened in fear, his jaw dropped and he shook. "It's you…"
Standing atop the cliff lowering his outstretched arm, his long black spiked hair blew in the winds alongside his tattered and ripped black Gi and white boots. His eyes trailed from the smoke to the quivering Goku Jr and glared.
"Jaku!" Goku breathed, taking a step back cowering.
The smoke cleared revealing Yao lying in the crater, burned and wounded covered in rubble. He looked up, his body shook, vision blurred. "Who dares to shoot me? I am the Great Lord Yao… I..." He drifted out of consciousness…
The mother bear growled and her cub cowered behind her.
Mamba, Torga and Susha looked in absolute shock and terror at the attacker who had taken down Lord Yao in a single blow.
Jaku jumped down and stared at Goku, his brows lowered harshly the scar down his face defined. "I don't know what happened before, but I won't allow it to reoccur. This time I really will kill you, Goku!" He cocked his hand back, energy ignited –
The mother bear roared and pounced at Jaku who turned at the last moment to see the sharp claws zoom down towards his face and slashed before the full weight hit him tackling him to the ground sending him stumbling before he rolled back to his feet and grimaced, feeling crimson drip down his cheek. He grit his teeth.
The bear ran at him again and bore down on him, but this Jaku held his ground and effortlessly held the bear back as she clawed into his shoulders pushing with all her strength.
Goku whimpered in the corner, back to the wall tears in his eyes as he stared fearfully. "No! Get away, don't bear, don't risk your life because of me!"
"You heard him!" Jaku smirked, pulling his left hand back holding her back with his right as his arm twisted and morphed into a metallic mace. "GET AWAY FROM ME!" He swung the mace and smashed the bear in the face sending her barrelling head over heels to the side.
The cub ran up to Jaku, but Goku directed him away. "This way, come on!" He said as they ran away crying out.
Jaku laughed sadistically, walking forwards with his right hand outstretched firing energy blast at their sides purposefully missing, playing with his prey as they weaved side to side frightened to death of the explosions behind them.
Then Jaku grinned, his crimson pupils narrowed as he brought his right hand above his head and the large yellow crackling energy sphere ignited. "Goodbye...!" He sniggered, preparing to fire when suddenly the large mother bear lunged at him again and bit down onto his arm unable to pierce his skin but she clamped down hard.
Jaku growled, teeth bared in annoyance as he swung her side to side before cocking his left hand back and smashed his feet fist into her face sending her flying over the ledge and landing hard onto her front where Goku and the cub skidded down.
"Hey, are you okay?!" Goku gasped, running up beside her with the cub staring in fear.
Then Jaku jumped down and landed behind them.
Goku and the cub turned to him.
"I figured with that wretched Grandmother of yours on her deathbed that you'd be an easy target. But, here I am still trying to kill you," Jaku smirked. "Why you've even made me work up quite the appetite, now I'm going to kill you and eat you Saiyan brat alongside those bears as appetisers," He laughed as Goku stepped back in fear, the mother bear clambered to her feet and walked forwards standing in between them and Jaku, snarling loudly.
"No, you'll be killed!" Goku shouted at her.
She turned and stared at Goku letting out a roar.
He looked at her, eyes wide as she stood on her hind legs and roared at Jaku her eyes furious, this was her last stand against him.
Jaku smiled. "Aren't you finished yet?!"
The bear lunged forwards and so did Jaku burying his knee into her solar plexus winding her as blood vomited from her mouth then he uppercutted snapping her head back and lifted her high into the air as he stretched out his left hand which morphed and stretched into a frenzy brown vines wrapping around her neck tightly holding her up as she struggled as he laughed.
The bear struggled, feeling her consciousness slipping as she clawed in vain to pry open the grip of the vines around her neck. In one last effort, she turned to Goku Jr and her cub, the boy looking on in fear whilst the cup stared in shock and horror watching her die unable to move forward but only shake with anxiety.
Goku stepped forwards, wanting to stop this but couldn't as he looked at the mother bear eyes and understood, turning away crunching his face. 'She's giving me the chance to save her cub.' He thought, clenching his fists tightly, golden sparks electrified around them as he turned picked up the cub and ran away as fast as he could.
As she watched them run away to safety she finally gave in and closed her eyes, her breath escaping her as her head slouched.
Jaku pulled his right hand back straightening it out as his hand morphed extending, turning in a sharp steel samurai sword, glistening in the sunlight.
Locked under Goku Jr's arm, the cub screamed foreseeing the worst as he frantically tried to break free and save his mother.
Goku clenched his teeth, hearing the screams, trying his hardest to hold onto the cub as he fled.
Jaku grinned holding the large bear up by the neck, readying his sword. He lowered his brows maliciously. "It's dinner time…"
Finally, the cub broke free from Goku Jr's grip and dashed to his mother's aid, whilst Goku gasped turning watching the child run to the monster.
Jaku sensed this, turning his eyes to the cub, ready to attack when –
"Put her down!" Goku Jr screamed, body clenched, brow lowered furiously as he erupted. A golden light burst out and up around him, lighting up the area as an aura hummed deafeningly loud. Unknown to him, he had become the Super Saiyan of legend.
Jaku gasped, now turning his sight to Goku Jr, the light reflecting his black Gi as the area quaked around him. His eyes widened, jaw dropped as he gasped, exclaiming "What?!"
The golden light encapsulating the boy's body began to shrink down into a powerful golden aura dimming down around his body, revealing his now erected gold mane of hair, four bangs fell down over his red headband. His fierce glare locked onto the stunned Jaku still holding the mother bear by her neck.
"I can't let you hurt my friend." Goku said as he removed his headband and threw it aside, his voice now fierce and authoritative.
Goku lowered his brow, and clenched his teeth furiously. "Jaku!" He shouted. "Whatever it is you want from me, it's over!" He held his arms out to his side, clenching his fists tightly, body tensed as his head snapped back and he screamed to the heavens, his glare locked onto the villain.
Jaku smirked cockily, throwing the mother bear to the side where she hit the ground and rolled onto her side. "Come on then brat! Face the mighty Jaku! Your lineage ends here, don't think I don't know what you are!"
Goku Jr's scream ended, clenching his teeth he catapulted forwards, moving faster than Jaku could see, his eyes widened –
Thffft! Goku Jr appeared before him fist cocked back and slammed a left uppercut into Jaku's solar plexus, doubling him over as the force of the impact shot out from his body, followed by a right hook to the face snapping his head to the side, jaw fracturing as blood spewed from his mouth as he was suddenly met with a frenzy of punches to the stomach, in an effort to counter Jaku threw a right elbow at the child but Goku ducked on instinct and shot up smashing a thunderous uppercut into Jaku's jaw blasting him upwards into the sky -!
Thffft! Goku Jr shot up at lightning speed and smashed a side kick down onto Jaku's back launching him down like a meteor exploding into the ground throwing a massive cloud of smoke and rubble shooting up raining down all over.
The boy landed down on the cliff, looking down as the smoke dissipated revealing the fallen Jaku, covered in wounds, his black Gi ripped.
Jaku's face stirred, a tremor ran through his body as anger seethed through his being. With a struggle, he pushed himself up to one knee and glared at the Super Saiyan. "How can this be? You were nothing but an insect before!" Jaku grit his teeth. "Damn you, I won't fail here, I've killed hundreds of warriors and you will be no different!"
Goku Jr glared down at Jaku, suddenly a flash of memories appeared before him –
A child with black messy hair shooting through a green demon-like being fist first –
The child all grown up now in ripped orange Gi shot down with a determined look on his face, roaring as he slammed headfirst into the chest of a green warrior -
The man punched forwards smashing his fist into a warrior wearing blue spandex and armour with black spiked hair's face as he also smashed his fist into the man's face –
A white and purple alien looked down, with one swollen eye, his tail cut off at the tip, mouth in the shape of an o looking down from the cliff in shock and awe at the man who now had golden spiked hair, looking up fiercely at him –
The man was on another world now, index and middle fingers to his forehead his other hand on a large green and orange balloon-like monster with a chubby blue being with his monkey and bug staring in shock as the monster exploded –
The green bug-like monster laughed manically, hands clawed forwards like a cannon an enormous azure beam jetting out. The spirit of the man with his arms held forwards similar to the monsters' he was behind a blooded boy in a purple Gi holding one arm out an enormous azure beam jetting out clashing against the monsters –
A pink child-like demon with white trousers screamed holding back an enormous azure spherical sphere, the man floated above with golden hair shouted with arms forwards pushing the sphere down onto the demon –
Standing on the roof under a green force field and night sky spherical golden aura thundering around him with long erected hair, the man glared fiercely at the blonde haired man wearing a dark blue and red jewelled armour –
Now on a spaceship, a powerful red armoured and blue-skinned monster glared watching as two warriors fingers met in the centre, a white light exploding outwards and collapsing back in on itself revealing one warrior in a short black and yellow trimmed jacket with white trousers –
The man older now, wrinkled with longer erected golden hair charging forwards, fist cocked back and roaring at a tall man with long black hair and orange scarf charged forwards, fist cocked back and screaming charging towards one another –
A large black armoured monster with black spikes stretching from his back and seven orange balls on his chest grinned maliciously looking up, the azure light reflecting against his face amongst the destroyed city. Above him the old man in a ripped and blooded orange tunic and dark blue trousers, his hair now red spiked down his back and over shoulders, black fur covered his body minus the face, chest and abdominal region. He screamed forcing his hands forwards like a cannon, unleashing an enormous azure beam down at the grinning monster.
Goku Jr screamed, his golden aura thundering eyes squeezed shut his arms held out to the side, pulling them down to his right hip, left shoulder aimed down at Jaku. Azure energy began to gather, emitting out as a blue light –
Jaku's eyes widened, his mouth opening, frozen in place from shock –
"KAMEHAMEHA!" Goku roared and forced his hands forwards and the enormous azure beam thundered out shooting down into Jaku who screamed in pain as the blue beam engulfed him and violently exploded! The smoke rushing up and around the area –
Goku Jr jumped off the cliff in front of the clearing smoke, revealing Jaku face first in the dirt, burnt and covered in wounds, debris burying him.
He stared, locking eyes with Jaku under the rubble.
"I am Jaku, master of the New Order… You are but a child, how can this be…?" He uttered, his eyes closing slipping into unconsciousness.
Above on the cliff Mamba, Torga and Susha screamed in fear as they turned and fled.
Goku Jr's glare locked onto Jaku, his golden aura raging but then it faded away, his golden erected hair faded to its black messy self and the boy's eyes closed, falling down onto his back unconscious.
All was calm again.
The bear cub licked his face a few times causing Goku's face to stir and he opened his eyes, sitting it up tired. Then he blinked a few times, realising he must have been out for awhile. "Wow, what happened?" He looked around, and saw Jaku face down buried under the rubble and gasped.
"Awesome!" He turned to the large mother bear licking her arm and grinned. "You must be one strong bear to bring that guy down! He was strong!"
The mother bear cocked her head to the side and wondered.
Goku Jr stood up and patted himself down, chuckling with a smile. "Well let's get going guys we can't be that far away now,"
He laughed and with that, the three went on with their adventure.
The evening sunlight illuminated the forest of rustling trees. Birds chirping as the white clouds slowly passed the tall mountains of Mount Paozu.
Goku breathed, looking on in excitement as he finally found what he was looking for. A small red and white brick house with a dark blue roof that curved and pointed upwards at the four corners and spiked upwards in the centre. The house had aged, the brick eroded, the white coated in dirt with vines and moss growing all over it as the forest began to claim back the land it took.
He was about to run towards the small house when he saw something, a few metres away atop a small hill was a large gravestone in the shape of a cross, moss and flowers covered it.
Curious, he ran over to it and stopped, looking it over before bending down and shifting the flowers to the side to read what was scribed onto the stone…
He furrowed. The stone was eroded somewhat, but he could just about make out the words. 'HERE LIES, CHI-CHI SON. LOVING WIFE, MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER. DIED 11th OCTOBER AGE 800. AGE 63 YEARS.'
Goku Jr gasped, touching the gravestone. "I don't believe it, it's my Great-Great Grandma." He said, remembering her from all the great stories Great Grandpa Gohan and Grandma Pan had told him. His eyes drifted to the flower covering the stone below. 'Then that means…' He brushed the flowers, vines and moss aside and began to read, his eyes widened…
The younger mother with black hair tied in a bun and blue eyes smiled. She lay in the white bed of the small hospital room holding her baby wrapped in white towel. The boy had spiked messy black hair.
The father stood beside her, hand on her shoulder looking at his little boy with a smile. He wore jeans and black shirt, muscular, with sharp short black hair.
On the other side of the room stood slightly younger Grandma Pan, her black hair, greying, some wrinkles forming over her head, black hair in a bun with the orange bandana wrapped as a small scarf around her neck she wore a purple jumper and jeans. She smiled unable to take her eyes off the baby boy, he reminded her so much of him…
Next to her was an old man in a short-sleeved white shirt and brown trousers. His skin tight around his slender arms, his white hair short and spiked with several bangs falling down his wrinkled forehead. He too couldn't believe the similarities between the baby boy and…
"So had any ideas for names yet, Gohan?" The mother's voice snapped the old Gohan out of his thoughts.
"W-Who, you mean you want me to think of a name for your baby?" Gohan blinked a few times, looking at Tine and then up at Ruben who smiled.
"Of course we do," Ruben looked at the sleeping baby and smiled before looking back at his Grandpa. "Go ahead, Grandpa. We already know what you and mother want to call him. It's okay, go ahead." He nodded and Tine smiled at Pan who opened her mouth into a small o and then looked at her father.
Ruben carefully picked his baby boy up from his mother's arms and walked over to Gohan.
Gohan looked at the baby with black messy hair, his lips quivered, tears pricked his eyes as he began to smile. It had been so, so, so long since he had seen him…
"Really?" He looked at the dad. "Ruben, Tine, I'm honoured for this, truly I am…" He said as he carefully took the baby from Ruben and cradled him, looking at him lovingly, his looks, his Ki, everything just reminded him of his Father... "Great Grandson, I'm naming you Goku Son in honour of my Father… Who I miss everyday…" He smiled sadly, remembering Goku. "I love you, Father." He looked up out the window at the blue sky and sniffled. "I always will…" Tears began to fall down his eyes when…
The baby's face stirred and his eyes opened, he looked up at Gohan and began to smile and laugh.
Gohan stared back in awe, before a grin formed over his tear-stained face. He laughed. "Oh, ha, ha, ha, you like that huh?" He laughed more as he held the baby up high, Pan, Ruben and Tine laughed happily with them as Goku Jr giggled happily. "Alright then, Goku it is! Wahoo! Goku!" Gohan spun around, laughing, grinning happily. "Goku! Wee, what a good little boy!"
Goku Jr stared at his Great-Great Grandpa's grave, blinking as he read the passage. 'IN MEMORY & HONOUR OF GOKU SON, THE MAN FROM ANOTHER WORLD WHO SAVED THE EARTH AND THE UNIVERSE SO MANY TIMES AND LEFT ON ONE LAST ADVENTURE IN AGE 801 WITH THE ETERNAL DRAGON SHENRON. WE MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU FOREVER AND ALWAYS. WE HOPE THAT YOUR JOURNEY SEES YOU HOME ONE DAY. UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN, GOKU.'
Goku Jr smiled sadly, closing his eyes as he stood and bowed in respect. 'It's because of you Great-Great Grandpa that I came here to get the Dragon Ball to wish for my Grandma's health back.'
He turned to the small old house again and nodded.
He ran to blackened doors and pushed them open with a smile, the doors slamming against the walls as he grinned. Suddenly a cloud of disturbed dust rushed up and out of the house causing the shocked descendant to cough as he covered his mouth squeezing his eyes shut.
As the dust finally faded away he opened his teary eyes and blinked taking in the scene.
The house was breaking. The circular windows and walls cracked, the brown support beams aged and orange curtains ripped.
"Woah, what a mess," He thought aloud, walking and looking around the old home. "I hope Great-Great-Grandpa didn't know how to hide things very well. If he did I'm in trouble." He shifted past an old tattered cloth hanging from the ceiling.
The bears outside waited outside, listening to the noises of moving objects.
"It has to be around here somewhere," Goku said, moving things around. "It has to be…"
Suddenly the light shining through the window emitted an orange circular light on the wall in front of him and he looked up with a gasp, blinking a few times before turning around and he saw something.
He walked over to it and underneath a plank of wood resting on a purple dusty cushion was a spherical sphere with four red stars. He pushed the wood away and gasped in excitement, grinning as he looked down in joy. He had found it. "The Dragon Ball, I don't believe it!"
He walked outside and kneeled down resting the Four-Star Dragon Ball on the ground outside the old home. He'd been searching for longer than he'd realised as the sun was beginning to set lighting the sky orange.
"I did it, Grandma, I found it. You're going to be okay." He stood up, looked down for a moment remembering the stories of what his Grandma had told him. He closed his eyes and took in a big breath before blowing out calming himself with a smile before clasping his palms together, praying, closing his eyes.
"…Mighty Shenron, I wish that my Grandma was well again and if you could do one extra thing please bring Puck back to life. He only died because he was trying to help me."
The mother bear and her cub looked on in wonder.
Time passed and Goku began to worry, opening one eye to look, before closing them, lowering his brow.
"Shenron," His voice quivered in a mixture of nervousness and annoyance. "Didn't you hear me? I wish that my Grandma was well again."
More time passed. The four-starred ball reflected Goku Jr. His eyes now open, hands still together, tense and stressed.
"Nothing's happening. Why aren't you coming out, Shenron?" He got closer, his eyes filled with worry. "My Grandma's gonna die if you don't help her! Can't you understand that?" He closed his eyes and breathed. "You're my last hope. Please listen. I wish that my Grandma was well again."
But again time passed and nothing happened.
Goku Jr opened his eyes looking down at the Dragon Ball and swallowed back the lump in his throat.
He picked it up and stood up, looking down, his eyes narrowing, clenching the ball tightly. "Why?"
His eyes scrunched shut, tearing and his head snapped back and he screamed. "Answer me!" Exclaiming, he opened his blue tear pricked eyes. "Why won't you grant my wish, what did I do wrong?!" He screamed, crying with his face crunched he lifted the ball above his head and threw it down hard.
Thud! It cracked the ground as it bounced slightly rolling across the dirt and onto the grass rolling into the shadow and stopping in between the blue-red lined boots.
Goku Jr dropped to his knees and slammed his fists into the ground. "Why did I even come here? Puck was RIGHT it's just a fairy tale!" He cried.
A pale hand clasped onto the Dragon Ball and he picked it up.
"You have to gather all seven Dragon Balls for it to work silly."
Goku Jr stopped crying and lifted his head in shock at the soft voice.
"Hi!" The tall grinning muscular man with white messy spiked hair wore navy blue trousers, blue wristbands and orange Gi said cheerfully with his hand up. "I'm surprised Pan didn't tell you that."
Goku Jr wiped his tears away, looking up at the old man in wonder. "Who're you?" He blinked a few times.
"Me? Well let's see." He chuckled, lifting his right hand and counted with his fingers. "I'm your Great… Now how many greats would that be?" He pondered staring at his hand for a second before turning back to the boy with his eyes closed grinning. "Well, never mind just call me Grandpa Goku."
"W-What, you mean, you're him?" Goku Jr stammered, looking at the old man in awe that Pan often told stories about.
"That's me!" Goku grinned, walking up to Goku Jr. "I've been watching you Goku and I have to admit you're getting pretty strong." He said, offering him the Dragon Ball.
Goku Jr smiled slightly, before looking down. "Thanks Grandpa, but I'm really not strong I'm weak."
Goku knelt down putting his arm around Goku Jr, placing the Dragon Ball in his hands with a smile. "What're you talking about," He stood up again, hands on his hips. "I wouldn't have said it if it wasn't true."
"Grandpa…" Goku Jr said, looking up at Goku. "Am I brave too?"
"Are you kidding? Of course you are. You have to be, after all you're…" Goku started counting on his fingers again, focusing "my Great-Great…erm…" He looked up pondering before shrugging it off and smiled at Goku Jr again. "Well, never mind that you're my Grandson that's for sure!"
Goku Jr grinned, letting out a small laugh before realising and he looked downcast again. "But I got scared and my friend died trying to save me." He was about to look up at Goku again when –
The sounds of something roaring and the strong winds gushing behind him brought his attention to the sky –
Above him was a white helicopter with the words POLICE written over the front.
"Hey!" He heard a familiar voice from the helicopter and then he noticed the tanned chubby boy in the green orange clothing waving at him cheerfully with both arms above his head out of the chopper. "Hey! Hey Goku!"
Goku stared in shock before grinning uncontrollably. "Puck it's you!"
Puck waved laughing, and then the old lady in the yellow hat pushed past him. "Goku!" Pan shouted down, grinning at her grandson.
"Grandma you're okay, you're well again!" Goku Jr's eyes began to well with tears as he smiled, looking down happily. "It's a dream come true."
"You think you can get rid of me that easily, this old gal's not ready to kick the bucket yet!" Pan grinned.
Goku Jr watched as the helicopter began to land. "Everybody's okay, I can't believe it." He turned back to Goku with watery eyes and a smile, holding onto the Dragon Ball. Then he gasped, Goku was gone. He looked around the forest and mountains under the sunset. "Grandpa Goku?"
'It wasn't the Dragon Ball Goku.' He heard the voice of Goku echo in his mind. 'It was your courage and love that opened the right doors, you did it by yourself.'
Goku Jr listened to Goku's words, his mouth open and he looked up into the orange sky.
'I'm proud of you Grandson. Stay pure, that's your armour.'
Goku Jr grinned happily, looking up. "Thanks!"
"Grandma, Puck!" He then ran over to Puck and his Grandma Pan who ran out of the helicopter towards him jumping into Puck's and Pan's arms.
After a long moment with them, telling them about his adventures, Goku Jr followed them into the helicopter, turning back one last time to where he saw Goku with a smile holding onto the Dragon Ball.
'Goodbye Grandpa, I'm really glad we met.'
Goku stood outside of the old house where his Grandpa Gohan raised him and where he first met Bulma before setting off on his mystical adventure to find the Dragon Balls. He was transparent now, holding his left thumb up at Goku Jr with a smile.
'Well hey, do you see that Dragon Ball in your hand? That's the same Dragon Ball that my Grandpa gave to me when I was your age and even though he was far away I felt close to him when it was around. So keep it safe and I'll always be near, goodbye, 'til we meet again, Grandson.'
He looked at the Four-Star Dragon Ball with a smile and then back at where Goku was. 'Goodbye Grandpa Goku. I'll never forget you.'
The helicopter lifted off the ground into the sky, the engine ignited and it blasted off back home leaving a sonic boom in its wake as it faded into the sunset.
Months later…
The sunlight beamed down glistening against the ocean.
Sailing through the waters was a small brown boat. Goku Jr rowed the boat with a determined look on his face. The salty air sprayed lightly against his face. He'd been travelling for days, and he grinned happily as the small dot of an island finally came into view.
He had found it.
The island was small, palm trees waving in the winds and in the centre was a small pink house with a red roof. Written on the front, squinting he could just about make out the red lettering: "KAME HOUSE".
He rowed faster eager to get there as the water began to shallow as the base of the boat scrapped across the coast.
The moment the descendant of Goku Son jumped out of the boat and touched down on the sandy beach, the front door opened.
Goku Jr swallowed, a little nervous before bringing himself to wear a smile staring at the old white-bearded man with yellow framed sunglasses in the doorway. He wore a white vest and brown trousers with black pumps. His left hand was behind his back, right hand holding onto his brown staff.
They stared at each other for a moment, the sound of waves crawling up and away from the sandy beach.
The old man's sunglasses glimmered in the sunlight and then a happy smile began to form along with a small humoured chuckle.
"You know, it sure is true what they say, history does repeat itself. Well come on then kiddo let's begin."
And we're back finally and truly finishing DBG with the DBGT special A Hero's Legacy. My favourite movie from the series.
Seeing as it's almost the anniversary of when this story finished I thought I'd write this one up to conclude DBG as a whole. To be honest, I would be lying if I said I haven't missed writing this story. I wish I had time to write more, and I have been thinking of writing one last special to DBG and maybe even diving into the new era of Dragon Ball sagas with Goku Jr... But with Uni finally finished I'm now in the full-time work life and self-improvement in the skills I've learned from Uni and using them in the real world and living life needs to be my focus now.
To everyone who has read this story, my version of DBGT, I thank you and to those who favourited/followed and reviewed the story you guys are the best and really helped me to finish this story through times of writer's block.
Again I thank you all, and this time it truly is goodbye and I wish you all the best!
'Til we meet again guys!
