Hugs6 – Here is THE scene. :)

Kaleb

Sitting here. Crying. That was what Kaleb had been reduced to after the battle.

He saw her… but then she was saved and he was happy but…he didn't want to know anything anymore.

You're weak.

A disgrace.

Nothing like your smart and wise mother.

The voices had been sounding inside his head. Non-stop. Ever since he'd broken in this drab toilet stall. The first building he'd seen. He'd fled the battle for her.

He'd get his punishment but for now he was content to simply sit here. Drowning in his emotions.

He imagined a life where he was with Amelia. Safe. Having a fire between them in which to let burn. It would be bliss. But right now?

He took a deep breath and looked up at the abused toilet stall door. Covered in graffiti, dents and unknown stains. He found himself relating to it in a way.

Nobody cared whether it would be harmful or not to damage and cover this door with their opinions and comments on what everybody should do and be, as well as the physical abuse that was dealt on a daily basis.

"I've cracked." He murmured to himself as he caught onto what exactly he was doing. "It's a door for crying out loud. I'm alive at least."

Kaleb then stood up and unlocked the stall before stepping carefully over to the smudged mirror. The smell of fuel was strong now as the sound of the radio bled into his senses. Playing some cheerful music with a nice beat but it sounded terrible coming through the tinny speakers. He tried to hear the words but before he could the song faded off and a highly enthusiastic voice replaced it, announcing the next song. He turned and looked up at the speaker, knowing that the song coming up was a better relation to him than a door. As it started he found himself humming the introduction. Then the tears started again as he thought of Amelia. He began to sing the words quietly, wishing that there was some way to reach her with the words.

Praying won't do it,

Hating won't do it.

Drinking won't do it,

Fighting won't knock you out, of my head.

Hiding won't hide it, smiling won't hide it.

Like I ain't tried it, everyone's tried it now, and failed somehow.

So when you gonna let me, when you gonna let me out, out?

And if you know,

How do you get up from an all time low,

I'm in pieces,

It seems like peace is,

The only thing I'll never know,

How do you get out, get out.

Cause driving won't do it,

Flying won't do it,

Denying won't do it,

Crying won't drown it out, what you said.

When I'm standing on the yellow line, waiting at the station,

Or I'm late for work, a vital presentation,

If you call me now girl, without reservation, I would try to break through.

But if you know,

How do you get up from an all time low,

I'm in pieces,

It seems like peace is,

The only thing I'll never know,

How do you get up from an all time low.

I can't even find a place to start,

How do I choose between my head and heart.

Til it ceases, I'll never know,

How do you get up from an all time low.

A low, a low, a low, a low, a low, a low, a low,

Can you hear me?

A low, a low, a low, a low, a low, a low, a low,

Can't you hear me?

A low, a low, a low, a low, a low, a low, a low,

Can you hear me?

A low, a low, a low, a low, a low, a low, a low,

And if you know,

How do you get up from an all time low?

I'm in pieces,

It seems like peace is,

The only thing I'll never know,

How do you get up from an all time low?

I can't even find a place to start,

How do I choose between my head and heart.

Til it ceases, I'll never know,

How do you get up from an all time low.

I can't even find a place to start,

How do I choose between my head and heart.

Til it ceases, I'll never know,

How do you get up from an all time low.

Once the song had finished Kaleb found himself crying openly. Silent tears streaking down his face at the thought of the pain he must've caused Amelia. This emotional pit he'd fallen into seemed impossible to get out of. If only she could shine a light to help him.

He turned back to the mirror and inspected his reflection.

The dark circle under his eyes.

The pale clamour to his skin.

The haunted look in his eyes.

No wonder she didn't love him. No wonder he could only cause her pain. Before he could fall back into his thoughts he heard a different sound.

A sobbing. A female sobbing. He held his breath and put his ear to the wall, feeling like he should recognise something.

That's when he heard the furious mumblings although he couldn't make them out fully.

He had a sudden feeling that he had to know who this person was.

As if possessed he left the male toilets and stopped outside the female. Looking around to make sure nobody sees him as he darted into the unchartered territory of the female bathroom.

The smell was already different. Cleaner and more lemony than the male counterpart.

When he turned the corner he stopped immediately, his breath hitched.

It couldn't be.

Not her.

She's strong.

"Amelia?"

Hugs – Well, the first part of it anyway! :p

This chapter took a while to come up with… The song was All Time Low by The Wanted and I was listening to it for inspiration then realised how much it fit so had to include it. It also explained his feelings a lot better than I could.

Thanks for reading and reviewing!
