Chapter 6 - A Tsuna Hazzard
The stone bounced seven times on the water surface, before he went down.
Tsuna took a new stone and threw it into the river. The silence out here and the lapping of the water calmed Tsuna. And after all that has happened, he also urgently needed it.
How would he only get out of this mess?
He sat down at the edge next to a rock so that he could see his reflection. The sun had set hours ago and the moon was the only light source now. It seemed especially bright tonight.
Until yesterday, Tsuna still thought he could get away from here. That someone might help him. But after he saw Mukuro act as a human owl and Chrome laughing at the casino, he was not so sure if he could really leave this world. If he could find someone who was at least halfway familiar to him.
He would love to just scream out all his frustration into the world. And that's exactly what he will do now. Tsuna took a deep breath and ...
"Be quiet. You scare them," a voice suddenly whispered right next to Tsuna's ear. Tsuna flinched noticeably and he would have jumped up quickly if the last days weren't still as fresh in his memories.
Next to him on the big rock sat a boy with a too big hat on his head, a long silk coat over his shoulders, which could as well pass as a robe and a necklace that hung loosely around his wrists. The medallion of the necklace showed a Ying-Yang sign.
Tsuna had already seen the strangest clothing styles here - at the thought of his little adventure with Hibari, Kyoko and Haru, Tsuna went quiet pale - but that was definitely the silliest. Not that he would ever say it out loud, as long as he valued his life. He had also learned that here.
And yet Tsuna would recognize his friends everywhere - Reborn made sure of that. Perhaps he had been so taken by surprise, because from him he was used to that he can compete with Squalo to the loudest scream.
"Onii-san," Tsuna murmured so softly that only he could hear.
Kyoko's brother looked like usual under the robe. But since he had met the Chrome and Mukuro of this world, he had learned that he liked it better to be safe than sorry.
"Who are them?" Asked Tsuna. Tsuna was not really sure if it had been a good idea to ask this question. He'd probably regret it. The last few days he had after all been given the strangest answers. He had only one request to the answer: Please don't be an owl searching for food! Anything else would not surprise Tsuna anymore.
"The fish. The children of the moon goddess," he replied with a serious face.
Tsuna blinked once, then twice. Well, he had probably spoken too soon.
"Okay?" Better not argue. I would lose immediately.
Neither of them said anything. They just sat and watched the shadows of the fish in the water. Then Tsuna remember a question that nagged at him for quite a while now.
"You're Kyoko's brother, right? Why does she and Haru work for Hibari?"
For a while there was silence. Tsuna heard only the rippling water. Ryohei stood up slowly. Then he turned around. Tsuna had already come to terms with the idea to get no answer, as the white-haired boy replied.
"She's followed her heart. Something that I would advise you also to do."
Then he left.
After his conversation with Onii-san Tsuna decided to go back to the mansion. It was late enough and if he wanted to get through the next day, he needed as much sleep as he could possibly get.
However, he wouldn't get any. Not even a minute later, he was still standing by the river, looking amazed at a park bench. Reborn sat on the left side at the edge and looked into the night. In his hand he held a cigarette.
Tsuna wondered if he should just sit down. On the other hand, he was in this world, probably, something like the Prince of the Mafia, or the world. Self-confident manner and reckless behavior was expected of him.
Reborn acknowledged his presence with a nod as Tsuna sat down next to him, but made no attempt to start a conversation.
Tsuna had so many questions for Reborn and the most he would give him couldn't be answered without knowing the truth about Tsuna. So if he was already here, why not take advantage of the opportunity.
"Why are you not a hitman?" Tsuna blurted out. In his own world he would have been shot by Reborn for such a question at least three times.
"Look around the city. Look around the world. No matter where you look, everywhere you'll see the same people with the same eyes in the same clothes. I wanted to be something everyone is not. The darkness loses its charm when it is brought to light."
"But you're a ballerina."
"A luminary," Reborn replied irritably. "But what should I expect from someone with your reputation."
"Then why did you answer me, if you know what I say to it?" Tsuna knew that the answer will not please him.
"Because I have a question of my own. Or do you think it was coincidence that we met here. In addition to my job at the ballet, I pride myself in knowing what is happening. Information is everything in this world. And yet there is something I don't know. A week ago, you were sent on a mission from which you didn't come back. Even announced as death for a short time. And then you showed up miraculously in the middle of the city. Now my question: What happened?"
Tsuna swallowed hard and turned his head away from Reborn. He had hoped to endure this without having to answer questions to which he had no answer. At least he knew what his Parallel-I had done before Tsuna arrived.
"I dont know."
When Tsuna turned back to Reborn, he wasn't there anymore. Instead, a small, folded piece of paper lay on Reborn's place. Tsuna looked around to see if Reborn wasn't nearby and took, after an unsuccessful search, the note in his hand and opened it.
The luck is with the stupid. ;-)
Moaning Tsuna fell backwards. The perfect description for this world: It's so creepy, it's not even funny.
Normal world
"Hey, Tsuna, wait a minute. You forgot something," Kyoko cried when she saw Tsuna in the school hallway. Even as she ran up to him, she fumbled in her pocket and pulled something out.
Tsuna stopped and smiled threading. Kyoko gave him a sheet that looked as if a bucket of red paint was poured over it.
"Here, you forgot your test at your desk."
"Thank you." Tsuna looked at the sheet for a while and then sighed. "How can I explain that to Reborn, so that I live to see the next day?"
"Don't worry, Juudaime. I'll explain the material to you," said Gokudera, who came around the corner with a grinning Yamamoto in tow.
"Oh, to me, too, then, huh?" Yamamoto asked immediately.
"What makes you think that I would help you, you baseball idiot!"
Kyoko and Tsuna watched the two for a while and laughed heartily. Kyoko then took her leave soon after and Tsuna made his escape without Gokudera and Yamamoto noticing. But really, that was one of his simplest exercises. The test, he crumpled up and threw it in the nearest trash.
But really, why did his other I have of this world have to be so stupid? And his friends. They had not left him alone all day. With so much devotion one or the other bullet would have normally long since flown through the air.
And Reborn! He would like tell the mini version of his informant a piece of his mind. But here Reborn and Lambo had changed places.
Only with the difference that Lambo is good for nothing. But if all goes according to plan, the annoying appendage will soon be go for good. I just have to play my role a little longer, until my partner has prepared everything. And then it's Showtime for the change of their lives. Literally.
