Chapter I

Return

- Cha Dae Woong POV –

Something bothered me with that peculiar smile on her face. I couldn't even handle the way her brown orbs looked at me as if she lusts for my flesh. I gulped and tried to lighten up the atmosphere.

"Mi Ho, do you want to –" I was cut off when she abruptly stood up, "To what?" She smiled.

"Ah. Never mind." To be honest, I got distracted by her breathtaking beauty that I could hear music. Aish, what am I even saying?

All of a sudden, she grabbed my arm and pulled me up with full force.

"Dae Woong, it's been a while since I last ate meat and I terribly miss it. Don't forget about the bubbly water too. So, let's go out and eat!"

Whew. That was the reason with all that weird behavior. I thought she would never ask.

"Eh? How about fruits and vegetables? Didn't you say that you liked them?"

"But I still really, really, really, really, really like meat more than plants." Her face pouted. Well, who couldn't deny the fact that she's still a gumiho? Oh wait, cross that out since I'm the only one who knows that she returned being half human and half gumiho.

"Mi Ho, you must follow the daily lifestyle of a human. That means you have to eat them so that you will stay healthy." I think I remember telling her the same lines, not exactly, but same thought counts.

"I know but, I want meat right now." She looked at me with eyes sparkled with fierceness, "Woong, if we aren't arguing right now, then we would be having a great time." Her continuous potency of trying to pull me up wasn't working at all. Her gumiho strength seemed to have faded since she wasn't able to carry me. As a gentleman, I didn't want to make her exhausted and it leaves me no choice but to approve her request.

"Alright, let's go out as a celebration for your return!"

She clapped her hands fondly like an innocent child. I'm glad that she is the same girl that I met in the woods. The heavens did get crazy after all.

AT A RESTAURANT NEAR THE STUDIO –

"Ah masheetda [Delicious]! I finally ate a meal with Woong!" I watched her shovel up pieces of meat into her mouth as she brimmed with happiness. Well, I miss seeing her like that, no matter what kind of hungry monster she imitated.

"Dae Woong," It looked like something popped out of her mind, "I noticed that you rarely eat meat. I saw you eat only kimchi, plants, chicken, yellow curls, and anything else except for meat. I thought you liked it?"

I stopped grinding the racy meat in my mouth. She saw? Was she really stalking me even in heaven? I laughed at the thought.

After she kept shifting her head to get my attention, I regained consciousness and literally swallowed everything to answer her.

"I often ate meat because I waited for you to come back. It would be unfair if I'd just enjoy an expensive produce alone. And now that you're here, I can literally eat a whole cow!" I joked and she was satisfied with my reply.

"That's what I really, really, really, really like about you!" She smiled in return and ruffled my hair.

Oh no, this is bad. My heartbeat is too fast that it could to explode out of intense love. Aigoo, this is not manly! I better do something about it before she notices that –

"Woong, why are your cheeks red?" She asked with her mouth full.

– Well, too late.

"Huh, they are?" I tapped my cheeks, acting as if there was no warmth. "It's not."

She swallowed the grinded meat in her mouth. "How can you even see without a mirror? Look! Your cheeks are getting rosier!"

"Ah, I –" Scanning the parameter, I searched around to come up with an excuse. Fortunately, I spotted a hot sauce on the other table. "– It must be because I ate a spicy meat." I continued.

"Eh, is that so? I didn't even see you put hot sauce on your meat. Oh well, I thought you were blushing." Then, that devilish trademark look of hers etched on her face and it gave me chills, "You were blushing, weren't you?"

"Of course not! Why would I be blushing in the first place?"

"It's so obvious that you're denying! Just tell me the truth and I'll stop bothering you."

"I've been telling you the truth but you won't listen to me."

"It's because I'm not listening to the truth. You're happy because I ruffled your hair, right?"

"Hey, every friend of mine does that. Don't make up assumptions." To be honest, I did like that she ruffled my hair. No one else did that except for my friends and Grandpa but I never felt anything. Well, she is an exception.

"So you blush every time someone does that?" Again with her devilish look, "Even with guys?"

This side of Mi Ho, being keen and wise, is definitely dangerous. She stared into the depths of my eyes, making sure that she could get the truth out of me.

"Aish! Fine! I liked it." I confessed, lowering my tone on the last part. I didn't want to be loud, especially if it will cause unnecessary ruckus.

"I knew it! I'll ruffle your hair to always make you happy. Okay?"

"I'm going to be a dog then." We laughed. Silence dawned and I felt peace. Gosh, arguing is tiring. No wonder Grandpa looks older whenever we fight.

When she ate the last meat, I dared to break the silence. "Mi Ho, where do you want to go after?"

"Hm? Anywhere will do."

"Silly. There's no such place as anywhere. Just try to think about the place that you really want to visit."

She became quiet for a while, meaning that she did thought of it. Cute. "Ah! How about we go to the fountain?"

I tried to joke. "Mi Ho, did you forget that I'm very popular these days? I'm afraid that people might crowd us."

"What?" She looked at me as if a dagger was about to come out from her eyes. Not cute.

"Hey hey, I was just kidding!" I called the waiter's attention to pay the bill. He was seemed hesitant to leave and thinking that he wanted a tip, I handed out the change. To our surprise, he wanted my autograph instead.

After signing, I lend out a hand to Mi Ho. "Alright! Shall we?"

"He wants your scribble instead of money? Does that work with meat?" I chuckled at her innocence. Afterwards, we head to the fountains.

I imagined an awkward scenario in the car. This was the same vehicle that I drove when I foolishly broke up with her and said some words that I regret ever spilling out. But, as luck would have it, she was very happy and on edge as if that never happened.

"Mi Ho, do you want to learn how to drive?"

Without delay, she looked at me with disbelief. "What? I can learn how to drive?"

"Yeah." I assured her. "Besides, you have a driver's license."

"It's Park Seon Joo's license and I'm Gu Mi Ho." I smiled.

"That's no problem at all. I know some guys who could change it. Legally."

She glanced out the window and answered, "I'll think about it first."

Again, there was a moment of silence. The atmosphere was so tense, I could hear myself breathing. Dae Woong, you better avoid these situations.

In the distance, I began to see colourful lights that meant we're at our destination.

"Mi Ho, we're here."

AT THE FOUNTAIN –

We unfastened our seat belts and went out of the car. To sweeten up the atmosphere, I lend out a hand to Mi Ho to hold hands on our way to the fountain. Instead, I get an angelic koala right by my arm. As we drew closer the fountain, Mi Ho picked up a pamphlet on the floor. I laughed at the fact that it was remarkably clean as if it was an artifact from the museum.

Her eyes widened, "Isn't this Teacher Dong Ju?"

Out of curiosity, I immediately looked at the pamphlet. "Professor" Dong Ju, as it says, was actually posing for an advertisement of a school. He was on this sexy-looking teacher stance with a bit of professionalism. No wonder it was clean because no one wanted to soil his gorgeous face. It even has kiss marks smudged all over his image. And by the name of the school, he was definitely teaching rich and famous students. Then, a flashback appeared in my mind and remembered what he told about his new goal.

"You're probably right. By the way, I just met him recently. He told me that he became a professor so that he can live amongst people and get along with them, rather than being surrounded by animals."

She nodded. "He moved back from Japan?"

"I guess so. Now that we know he teaches at this school, let's visit him some time and you'll be able to see you each other again."

"That's a great idea! I'm so excited!" She kept the paper inside her bag and tightened her grasp on my arm.

We continued walking towards our destination. When the fountain came into our sight, our breath was seemingly taken away by its beauty. It may be ordinary but there was something unique about it that makes us speechless. I looked at the playful lights that matched the graceful flow of the water, thinking that it'll be just like how our lives will be from now on.

Mi Ho moved a bit too close to it and I was about to stop her. On the contrary, she courageously played with the water and I saw her effort to conquer her fear. Her amusement seemed to help her overcome the anxiety. This girl never ceases to amaze me.

With our stamina drained, we sat on an old oak bench that was parallel to the fountains. Mi Ho leaned her head over my shoulder and I leaned back. The atmosphere was amazing that I was unable to stop myself from smiling.

"I wish time would just stop so we'll stay like this forever." She whispered, probably thinking I wouldn't hear it.

"Dae Woong, sing Hoi Hoi!" She requested out of the blue.

"Why so sudden?" Her sparkling eyes defeated my hesitation. "Alright. But you have to promise that your tail must not appear!"

She rose up her pinkie and lightly smiled at me, "I promise."

Then I began to sing our song.

Afterwards, I took a glimpse at her and found her asleep. Her innocent slumbering face, that fantasized serene dreams of meat, struck my heart. She was beautiful and that is known fact. No wonder any man could fall for her.

I gently grabbed a coin from my pocket and tossed it to the waters. She stirred up a bit and mumbled my name before snoozing again.

"I wish her wish would come true."

I inched towards her, slow but steady, and gave her a goodnight kiss on the forehead.

- Third Person POV -

A mysterious girl walked leisurely around the park though her face wasn't visible, due to the lack of light in her position.

She wore a Hanbok, with the skirt patterned with crimson floral. Her feet were sore since she was barefooted though it didn't stop her from running around.

"Where are you?" Her voice thin.

When she paused to catch her breath, something on the floor caught her attention. Picking it up, she stared at the paper as if she had never seen such thing.

"Thank heavens! I have found you!" A demure smile escaped from her lips, caressing the image of a man. She walked towards the light lit by the street lamp as it revealed her face:

... Mi Ho?
