Unity
Katara knew better than to expect perfect. She knew that water and air, though allied forces, were quite at odds with one another. She expected nothing less. Katara wasn't a fool and she liked to challenge and be challenged from time to time.
Aang and Zuko were close. Air was fire's medium, after all. She wasn't envious of their relationship. They were different elements as well and they were prone to clashing because of that. However, when Aang and Zuko were enjoying times of peace she felt somewhat envious.
Aang and Zuko were leaders. They were often away from their homes for long journeys. They would travel to speak with the leaders' of the other nations. As Aang was the last airbender he was expected to travel. No one would visit him.
Mai was closer to Zuko than Katara was to Aang. There were few truths that infuriated her more. Though Mai and Zuko both deserved happiness she couldn't help but feel jealous. The two were never well acquainted though. They would never become friends, it seemed. That left Katara feeling even more isolated at times.
Toph was far from reach. They hadn't contacted each other in months. Sokka and Suki were leading busy lives. Katara couldn't simply go to them whenever she wanted company. They had their own priorities and she had no right to interfere.
The sun was almost to the mid-point of the sky. There would be a re-union, Aang had insisted just before he left. He and Zuko had a 'surprise' that would apparently benefit the entire world. What that was, she didn't know. She didn't protest. He had a kind heart that longed for peace – she loved that about him. That was why he enlisted Zuko. The reformed Emperor and the Avatar working to bring a new era of peace; she begrudgingly supported his choice.
After all, air was fire's medium.
Author's Note: Yea… This is kind of what happens when you start a story one day and go back the next. I swear, this is the first time that I've written a ramble. The others of this particular vein didn't go like this. I wrote them all in this style. Hmm, how odd, but I hope that you don't mind. I hope that you've enjoyed my odd piece. Thank you for sparing your time to read my work. I apologise if you found this tale lacking in any respect.
