All right, okay, I'll admit it. I am a horrible writer and my updating is real slow.I am so sorry for the late. I guess I was just really busy. I'm sorry.
Chapter: 16
Shannon had stolen the car from Itex.
Yeah, I know. She just stole a brand new, BMW-X5 from them, and nobody knew nothing! Talk about weird. And when we asked her about it, her answer was even weirder.
"I have a good bonding with the Head of Security."
"Seriously?" The shock was obvious in my voice. "You're saying that they know you stole a SUV?"
"Not them. Only John. He's the Head of Security." She said as her eyes hovered on the road. "And he never interferes in my work, he never asks questions. He only reports to Hagen and he never says a word about what I'm doing."
"Does he know that you're running away?" Nudge asked.
"He might've guessed. I'm not sure."
Nudge looked at Fang sternly. "And you still believe her?"
"Yes." Fang said without looking at her. "For now." Nudge huffed and sat back.
It had been three hours since we took off. Shannon was driving, I was sitting in the front with her, and rest of them was sitting on the back. None of us talked after the whole 'Stolen Car' thing. We just sat there doing nothing. It went like that until Iggy told that he was hungry and Nudge agreed. So Shannon parked in front of a restaurant.
But as she tried to get out from the car, I stopped her.
"You're not going." I said stubbornly. "I'm going."
"What?" First she looked surprised; then angry. "Why?"
"Don't you look in the mirror? Look at yourself. You're going to draw attention." Okay, that wasn't the reason. But well….whatever!
She turned her body towards me and snapped. "It's not my fault that they didn't give me an opportunity for a sweet and hot shower; and out of everyone you should know it. And I'm going."
"No you're not." I emphasized the 'not' part.
"Yes I am."
"You're not."
"I am."
"Are you this slow always?"
"What?" She looked like she was going to jump at me any moment.
"I am going!"
We both looked at Fang who was glaring at us. He let out a breath as we stopped arguing and opened the door. "Please try not to kill each other while I'm gone."
After he was gone with his mouthful advises, I turned around and ignored Iggy and Nudge's stares and Shannon's death glare on me. And before looking away, she whispered something that only I could hear.
"I know why you did that."
And why did I do that? Because I didn't believe her. Seriously, she could've just gone out and informed them. And they could've easily caught us then. Yeah, I don't believe her a bit. I didn't believe her before, I don't believe her now, and I don't think I will ever believe her. Get it over with.
But that didn't mean I hate her. 'Cause I don't. I felt bad for her. Because I knew, that whatever she was doing, she wasn't doing it in her own will. They were controlling her, manipulating her. If she was actually faking everything, it still wasn't her fault. She was still a 13 years old kid who was just caught in the hands of fate.
It was past midnight. Shannon was still driving. Everyone was asleep except me. We didn't talk after the argument. She didn't eat anything, said she wasn't hungry and she didn't like cheese-burgers. She was still mad I guess, but she didn't look mad.
"You should take some rest." I suggested. She looked tired, along with that, I wanted to see her reaction.
But she stayed calm. "You don't know the way."
"You can give me directions."
She didn't say anything for a while. I was about to sigh and give my final decision about the theory of 'she is betraying us' when she spoke.
"You don't believe me." It wasn't a question, more of a statement.
"No, I don't." I chose to be straight like her. "Why should I? I know nothing about you and you had tried to kill us."
"But you're not protesting." She didn't even try to look at me while she spoke. "You're not telling me to go away."
"That's because I want to see what happens…"
"You pity me." She stated.
"I don't!"
"And you're a horrible liar." With that she stopped the car with a halt and opened the door. "Drive."
"STOP!"
So, yeah. What would you do while you're driving a car and it's almost 3 in the morning and you're quite sleepy and having hard time to not let yourself fall asleep and the sleeping girl beside you suddenly screams to stop?
Well, I guess you'd halt to a stop.
And what would I do?
Duh! You're so slow. I'd also halt to a stop.
"What the heck?" I tried not to scream my lungs out and even my breathing. But Iggy surely didn't try to do that, because right after that he screamed and jumped up. "WHAT?! WHAT HAPPENED?!" If Fang and Nudge wasn't up before, they were now.
I looked at Shannon and saw her panting like she had just run in a good ten miles without a break.
"What happened?" Fang asked as he tried to keep a calm face.
"I think she had a night…." I was cut off in the middle.
"He knows we're coming." She said in hoarse voice.
What?
"What?" Nudge voiced my thought.
"Hagen knows we're coming."
"And how do you know that?" Nudge seemed almost on the edge of her patience. Well, so was I.
Shannon took some deep breaths before she spoke again. "They can" She stopped and thought something, like she was trying to decide whether to tell us or not, then she turned to face us again and continued. "They can control some parts of my brain. I'm not sure how, but they can. One of them is that they can give me…" She searched for the right words. "They can give me visions. They can show me whatever they want to, and it doesn't matter where I am. They can always do that."
"Great." I huffed. "Now we have a goddamn zombie among us."
"I'm not a zombie!" She snapped. "Doesn't matter whatever the hell it is!"
"Will you just shut that up for a moment?" Fang glared at us then turned at Shannon again. "What did they show you this time?"
"I saw Max. She was in a cylinder full of water. And then I saw Hagen and he was smiling."
"That's it? Nothing else?" Iggy asked disappointedly. "Was Max hurt?"
"I don't know." She said hopelessly. "It was blurry."
"But that doesn't mean he knows we're coming." Fang tried to reason out.
"What else would it mean?" Shannon asked back. "Why would he show me that?"
There wasn't an answer for that. Fang sighed. "All right then. It doesn't change anything. Unless you change your mind."
"No." She said as stubbornly as Fang had said that.
"Let's not await him then."
Ooooh! Yeeeeeeeppppieeeee! Hagen's ass just got a date with my foot!
Honestly guys, I know my writing skills aren't that good and I'm a very slow updater. But I do deserve something right? Can I at least get one review for each chapter? Pretty please?
