Introduction
Warm sunny day was perfect to fall asleep. Pleasant silence on Konoha's streets wasn't helping Kakashi to stay awake. And it wasn't just today. For the last two weeks nothing interesting happened.
Ultimate proof of boredom in Konoha was Tsunade's short trip, that way making Kakashi the one in charge. Naturally, he couldn't order around like her, so the first thing to do after arriving at their office was reading a note she had left him.
''Reason for my vacation - private and also none of your business''
Kakashi sighed. She didn't let him know when she had planned to return. Then again, her presence meant she had to worry about reckless shinobi, but she entrusted them to Kakashi, as it was written.
''IOS-no missions for another four weeks at least, but you know that already. NO TRAINING - if they try to misbehave, rat them out to Sakura (and Ino, if necessary), that will be effective for sure''
''What a drag, huh?''
Question came from Kakashi's consultant, who probably noticed another of Hokage's desperate sighs. Thinking about legendary Sannin and two strongest sharingan users in a friendly combat, which might include fatal wounds, along with Tsunade's anger made Kakashi feel desperate and helpless. He didn't have to explain it to Shikamaru because he knew three shinobi better than anyone.
''Temari is leaving tomorrow?'' Kakashi asked, deciding not to bother his consultant with the demanding job of a village head. And it really was exhausting to put under control shinobi who were stronger than him.
''Yeah.''
''Not for long, I guess.''
That presumption made Shikamaru smirk.
''No.''
''Does that mean you don't need the morning off?'' Kakashi teased.
''I can't be sure. She insisted on a girls' night before leaving.''
''Oh?''
Shikamaru shrugged instead of answering. Kakashi rubbed his chin.
''So she will miss Hinata more than you?'' he concluded.
''Very funny,'' younger shinobi yawned.
That didn't make Kakashi give up on the girls' topic. He was aware it was intriguing him too much, but he needed more information.
''With some alcohol, you can't know whether or not Temari will wake you up.''
''Everything's possible. I don't expect them to talk about the upcoming wedding the entire night.''
''As I could see, Ino is the only one dedicated to the wedding plans.''
''I'm not surprised. Considering everything that happened during the last eight weeks, it's natural she is the one pulling the strings.''
Kakashi nodded to agree.
''She is completely opposite from Naruto who is doing nothing but counting days to have a proper fight with his best friend,'' Shikamaru added.
No wonder Tsunade pointed out to watch over Kakashi's blond former student too. The last but not the least note was: ''Keep an eye on Naruto''.
Kakashi smirked because he had witnessed three jealous men were keeping an eye on Naruto much better than anyone else. Not to stop him from fighting, of course, but it was good to know he's being monitored.
''Paperwork? Again? Don't you want to slack off while Tsunade is away?''
Tsunade's best friend entered Hokage's office without knocking, as always.
''Jiraiya-sama,'' Shikamaru greeted him.
''I am bored, let's go out for a drink!''
''Bored?'' Kakashi repeated. ''You promised me another novel!''
''Well, yeah, I had the best intention to write but-,'' Jiraiya began his apology, but Kakashi interrupted.
''Never mind, take your time.''
All these years Kakashi's been reading Jiraiya's stories, lying to everybody those were romance novels. The last published novel was a sweet love story. Maybe it was for the best since characters, in Kakashi's mind, resembled a lot to the young kunoichi.
''Huh, maybe a drink isn't a bad idea. I mean, main characters from your story also like to unwind with some alcohol!''
''How many times I need to tell you?'' Jiraiya sighed. ''My characters are fictional!''
''I hope they are! I don't want to live in a world where every woman has a thing for Naruto! Even Tsunade-sama!''
''Kakashi! Keep your opinion about my book to yourself! Especially in front of-''
''Shikamaru? Don't worry about him, he has only Temari on his mind. And Sakura and Ino, from time to time.''
''Kakashi-sama!'' Shikamaru hissed.
''It's only natural to fantasize about other women,'' Sannin commended.
''On top of each other!'' Kakashi chuckled quietly.
Although Shikamaru heard it, he didn't say anything. Staring at amused Jiraiya and slightly embarrassed Shikamaru, Kakashi wondered if Naruto, after being away for so long, became a threat to happy couples of Konoha. Or open-minded blonde women had more effect than any other man. Glancing at a small piece of paper in his hand, Kakashi thought of the best way to ease his boredom and bring some fun into his dull office life.
''What do you have in mind?'' Shikamaru asked, knowing well male Hokage.
''Can you summon Uchiha heir?''
''Isn't he free of duty?''
''I will need Ino too,'' Kakashi ignored Shikamaru's question, which made him roll his eyes.
''I can get her!'' Jiraiya proposed.
''No!'' Shikamaru and Kakashi yelled in unison.
''Fine!'' Jiraiya laughed, knowing the reason for their objection.
''You can take the morning off,'' Kakashi said before Shikamaru left the office.
''I refuse to know what you are up to,'' Shikamaru sighed.
''Don't worry, it doesn't include you or Temari!''
''Even more troublesome,'' Shikamaru said, closing the door behind him.
